#13: person A kissing person B’s forehead

Multimouse streaked across Paris, jump rope looping in the air as she used it to make her way to the akuma that was currently wreaking havoc all over the city.

Tikki was out of commission—she'd fallen sick, again, and so Chat had begged Ladybug to call in Marinette once again, citing the fact that Multimouse's identity was one of the few that Miracle Queen had, curiously, been unable to uncover.

“ALL SHALL BOW BEFORE THE BAGUETTE THAT BE!”

Multimouse winced. The Baguettiverseologist, or, as Chat had taken to calling them, Baguette, had been spewing the same sort of nonsense all afternoon as if it were the gospel truth. The akuma didn't look like much—a wild-haired scientist, wielding a baguette with one hand—but Baguette had escaped de-akumatization for a maddening two hours.

“So, what's the plan?”

Chat Noir looked up as she dropped down on the rooftop next to him, her arms gracefully outstretched for balance. He lit up, beaming. “Ma— Multimouse!”

“The one and only,” she said, smiling. “Ladybug sent me to help.”

Chat pumped a fist upward in victory. “Ha! She's finally caved. I knew you'd be a good person to have on our team.”

Marinette suppressed a giggle. “Aw, you flatter me, Chat.”

A rumbling suddenly sounded from below, interrupting their friendly banter. All of a sudden, Baguette shot up to their level, massive and looming in an aromatic, baguette-made armor.

“CHAT NOIR,” the akuma roared, “SURRENDER YOUR MIRACULOUS AND BOW!”

Chat raised an eyebrow. “I don't think I will.”

Marinette readied her rope. “Now's a good time for a plan,” she whispered urgently.

“Yeah, yeah, let me think for a sec.” He turned back to Baguette, jaw working as he tried to—distract? Annoy?—the akuma. “Say, is Hawkmoth a believer, too? Shouldn't you be going after him, with that breadstick of yours?”

The Baguettiverseologist's eyes glowed red. “BREADSTICK?” it thundered. “THIS IS NO MERE BREADSTICK. THIS IS THE HOLY OF HOLIES, A BAGUETTE FASHIONED IN THE WAY THE BAGUETTE THAT BE INTENDED IT. YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR BLASPHEMY!”

Raising his now massive baguette high, he brought it down on them, Marinette and Chat diving away in separate directions, just barely avoiding the crush.

Multimouse ran across the rooftops, casting wild looks behind her as Baguette stomped in her direction.

“Chat Noir!” she yelled, “Plan! Now!”

Speak of the devil and he appears—so, too, did Chat Noir, dropping out of nowhere to haul Multimouse out of sight.

“The akuma's in the baguette, right?” he said, panting softly from exertion as he leant against the wall. “How does bread hold up against an invasion of rats?”

He paused. “Or in this case, mice.”

Multimouse grinned, thinking back to the fortunate few times her parents' bakery had been subjected to the like.

“That's perfect.” Unwinding her rope and skipping, she eagerly summoned her power. “Multitude!”

With each leap, she shrank, mini versions of herself appearing out of her black boots. After a few more turns of the rope, Multimouse was no more—there were only the Minimice, each one barely two inches tall.

Chat knelt down and offered a hand. Three of the Multimice clambered up immediately, and once his hand had brought them to eye level, one of them cupped her tiny hands around her mouth. “Just get us on the akuma, and we'll be all set,” she said. “Keep it distracted. Afterward, you can just cataclysm the akuma.”

Chat blinked, staring down at the diminutive trio. In the corner of his vision, he could see the rest of the Multimice stretching their limbs in preparation. “How do you know that'll work?”

The first one looked at its partners, panicked. “Ah—”

“Uh—” The second swiveled towards the third.

“L— Ladybug told us!”

All three sighed in relief.

“Yeah,” said the first one, taking control once more. “She's the Guardian. I trust her.”

He shrugged. That was good enough for him. “Okay.”

“Anything else?” the third piped up.

“...A kiss for luck?” He grinned at them cheekily.

As one, they rolled their eyes.

“I feel bad for Ladybug,” the second (Or was it the third? He couldn't tell anymore.) said, a smile on her face.

Chat puffed up, put out. “Hey!”

Before he could say another word, though, two of the Multimice used their clasped hands to push up a third with secret grins.

The Multimouse at the top smirked, and then darted forward to dot a tiny kiss on his forehead. “Is that good enough?”

Chat went red.

“Y— Yeah. Uh. Thanks,” he squeaked.

Giggling, she booped his nose, and then jumped back down, joining hands with her two other clones. “Okay, then. We're off!”

And with that, the three of them leapt off to join their fellow Multimice, Chat scrabbling to his feet as he tried desperately to wipe the blush off his cheeks.
