Fanfic tag game
Tagged by @aini-nufire, @talvenhenki, @enigma-the-mysterious and @sternenblumen. Normally I don’t do tag games, but I figured I couldn’t let all of you down, and besides, why not shamelessly promo tons of my fics? XD
how many works do you have on AO3?
244! But a lot of them are very short
what’s your total AO3 word count?
347,424
how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
32 if I don’t condense the fandoms down, but still 21 if I do….
Merlin (188), Star Wars (17), Supernatural (9), Detroit: Become Human (7), The Musketeers (6), Spider-Man (6), Daredevil (6), general MCU (4), Big Hero 6 (4), Game of Thrones (3), Inception (2), Call the Midwife (2), Pacific Rim (2), Salvation (1), Time Scout Series (1), The Bean Trees (1), Leverage Redemption (1), Star Trek Picard (1), Earthsea (1), Mission Impossible (1), and Bartimeaus (1)
what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Gyroscope Offline (Detroit: Become Human)
Help from a Devil (Spider-Man and Daredevil)
Problems Aside (Game of Thrones)
No Other Pilot (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy)
To Be Scared of the Ones You Love (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy)
All of these were published right after new content for the fandom was put out, when hits and fics were booming
do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to, but it’s been getting kind of overwhelming lately...
what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
No. 15 Possession from my Supernatural/Merlin fusion for 2020 Whumptober. It’s one of only 3 fics I’ve written with permanent major character death, all of which were in the same series, and it’s sad af.
do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Yes! I do more fusions than crossovers, but sometimes both sets of characters show up. I have actually two different Supernatural/Merlin crossover/fusion series, a Inception/Great British Bake Off fic, a Merlin/GBBO fic, and my favorite and probably the wildest one, my series Call the Merlin, where Merlin, Gwen, Gaius, and all the knights are reborn in the 1950s to be midwives in London’s East End.
have you ever received hate on a fic?
I’ve gotten two or three comments of transphobic bullshit on the previously mentioned Call the Merlin series because of the gender-bending
do you write smut? if so what kind?
Yes, but it’s mostly all published anonymously
have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
have you ever had a fic translated?
No, although I semi-frequently get comments written in other languages, so I think people might be translating my fics themselves to read in other languages and then commenting in their native tongue
have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet, but I’d like to! (if anyone wants to add a character to a neurodivergent!knights fic, hit me up, since neednoggle and I were planning on combining their adhd!gwaine and my tourettic!lancelot headcanons at some point)
what’s your all time favorite ship?
I don’t think I really have a favorite, but I am very partial to anything with Lancelot or Freya being loved and supported
what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Whoooo I’ve got several. Pacific Rim Uprooted is probably the least likely to ever be finished, given that I had a whole plan for rewriting Uprising that I think I forgot right after publishing the first and only chapter (which was only 300 words)
what are your writing strengths?
Whump, platonic cuddling
what are your writing weaknesses?
I feel like a lot of my writing feels very thin, with a lot of action and not much description or fleshing out of the characters or setting
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I like it, especially for sprinkling in little affectionate phrases and the like. I’m a huge sucker for Aramis especially calling the others amor or hermano, it makes my heart so brrr whenever I read it
what was the first fandom you wrote for?
Merlin, actually! I wrote a whump fic before I knew what whump or fanfiction was about Gwaine and Lancelot meeting while beating up bandits!
what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I have so many! Right now it’s probably The Weaver and the Woodworker, my recent Freya/Will fic, but it’s so hard to choose! I also really love all of my OC fics from various fandoms, like Android Veteran Affairs from DBH, Promise of Safety from Time Scout, and The Helping Hands Initiative series that combines aspects of Iron Man and Big Hero Six. I love playing with unexplored aspects of these worlds with my own characters, although it always is a little sad that these fics never get much engagement

writer’s tag
tagged by the wonderful @esselley tysm darling <33
1) How many works in progress to do you currently have in progress?
i have.......so many...i just counted.....in terms of actual storylines (not even counting the total number of documents per story/other smaller random stuff/poem drafts) i have......t h i r t e e n
2) Do you/would you write fan fiction?
nah it sounds like a thankless job ;/
(don’t call me out for this you evil wombats, of course i write fanfiction here on tungle dot com lmao)
3) Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?
I prefer paper, but honestly any form of reading is fine as long as i get to read.
4) When did you start writing?
idk, trying to pin that down is like trying to answer “when did you want to be a wizard when you were younger!!!” b/c let’s face it we’ve all been through a wizard phase, and trying to answer that is impossible (b/c we all still want to be wizards). always? yesterday? i feel like i’m constantly re-discovering “oh, I enjoy doing this thing, maybe I should do this, like, all the time”
5) Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?
lmfao i don’t even trust myself!!!!
nah, tbh i trust a lot of people with my writing! i’m currently in a creative writing class at school and the group is pretty good. i’ve got some good friends from a conference i went to over the summer that i’ll read my poems to via our snapchat group text and i would trust all of them with My Life (and my writing, of course). as far as fanfiction goes, i don’t really have anyone, unfortunately :( Almost everything I write is un-beta’d or unread until it gets to you guys, which gets kinda lonely lol
6) Where is your favourite place to write?
anywhere, i will literally write on anything in any place
7) Favourite childhood book?
Series of Unfortunate Events; The Bartimeaus Trilogy; Percy Jackson and the Olympians; Harry Potter; Guardians of Ga’Hoole.....asking me to name just one is Ridiculous, who came up with these questions lolol
8) Writing for fun or writing for publication?
Both, all. I’m already a published poet so that’s A Thing I do, fanfiction is for fun (as is everything else of course, why else would I do it?), and the novel I have written, scrapped, and re-scrapped is for publication if I can get my butt in gear this year and really buckle down!!
9) Pen and paper or computer?
Both tbh. It’s much easier to use the computer, but I still love the feeling of writing with a pen and paper, so I usually do that for poetry, then transcribe it later. Longer stuff is all on the computer.
10) Have you ever taken any writing classes?
M A N Y. I’m in a creative writing course/workshop this semester, I’ve taken classes on memoirs, editing for publication, reading “like a writer,” women writers, currently in a victorian lit class and a medicine in literature class, also taken a Eastern/Western film and lit course, detective lit, currently in a speculative fiction class, will be taking a (second) shakespeare class and an African-American poetry course next semester, I’m LOADED with writing At All Times
11) What inspires you to write?
two days ago I saw a man riding a bicycle stop on the side of the road to push a turtle that had rolled onto its back off the side of the curb and back onto the grass. he said something to the turtle and I like to think the turtle said something back. I write because of that.
Thanks for playing, I’ll tag @majoringinsarcasm, @dontperishyet, @byesweetheart, @someone-stole-my-shoes, and if you want to do this too, just say I tagged you and I’ll come check out your answers!

So You Want to Catch All of Lily’s Pop Culture References...
I’ve been asked several times for real world, non fanfiction, inspirations or references for “Lily and the Art of Being Sisyphus” as well as various other stories I write.
Needless to say, for those of you familiar with what I write, I make a lot of allusions to other works, a lot, and they are quite varied from classic things to violent 80′s action films.
More, while they’re intuitive references for me, I realize after writing that, no, not everyone has seen “Dirty Harry” and they’re probably not going to.
So with that, I’ve decided to compile a more public list of things that, not only inspired things I write, but also what you need to watch or read to catch Lily’s almost countless references (well, the ones which aren’t historical).
Note, while I tried to get everything I could think of on this list I may be forgetting some things here, although I will come back to edit as it comes back to me.

First came the light, then the blast.
Kitty was thrown to the ground by the shock wave.
Behind her the Glass Palace was shattered down by the violence of the explosion: pieces of glass and iron collapsed on themselves while others were scattered all around the park.
Kitty remained a few minutes there, lying down on the cold ground waiting for it to end.
She felt the amulet of Samarkand pulsing around her neck.
She knew it saved her. He saved her...
After a few minutes, when the explosion subsided, Kitty was finally able to sit down and to take a look around.
What she saw appalled her: there were only ashes and ruins within a radius of kilometers , not even a blade of grass was left alive.
Kitty got up as fast as she could and started calling out Nathaniel’s name with a croaky voice.
There was no answer.
Panicked she walked around the ruins shouting his name at the top of her lungs for minutes.
Everything remained still... There was no living being there.
...he had broken his promise... she should have known better...
Kitty lowered her head.
All of sudden she felt incredibly tired... she just wanted to rest.
She was about to leave when she heard a soft noise behind her.
It seemed like a hop.
She turned immediately, her heart was beating fast.
Then she saw him.
Nathaniel was standing there, ten steps away from her.
He was dirty, full of wounds and with his expensive suit torn in several places but nonetheless he was very much alive.
And he was looking at her with a beaming smile plastered on his face.
“Kitty! We did it!” He said enthusiastically as he limped towards her with the seven-league boots at his feet.
For the first time in years Kitty felt the tears forming in the corner of her eyes.
She remained still waiting for him.
When he finally reached her, she slapped him in the face.
Nathaniel froze on the spot. He looked helpless.
“Kitty, I-I...” he stammered.
“This is for letting me think you were dead!” She cut him off, grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer.
Now their faces were only inches apart.
Kitty waited only for a moment before closing the distance.
His lips were soft and warm against hers. She lost herself in the sensation and she felt Nathaniel reciprocate the kiss.
They stayed like that until they had to catch their breath.
“And this was for being alive.” She said while parting their lips.
Kitty felt flushed, almost lightheaded...
She looked up at Nathaniel a bit embarrassed by her rushed decision but when their eyes met he was glowing.
They smiled at each other full of happiness.
“I’ll never broke my promises again.” He said hugging her fervently.
“Isn’t that another promise of yours?” She laughed hugging him tightly.
