Trying to find a good design for the kids ("kids" includes the millenia old djinni). I think I like Bart's and Kitty's the best. Ptolomey's is good, I suppose. I like that Bart looks different but it's still Ptolomey. And Nat's idk about 🤔 I WILL keep the beauty marks/moles/whatever you call them in English I put on him because I do what I want! Also it fits him don't ask why it just DOES. Bart and Ptolomey also have freckles because I said so. But yeah Nat's is still a bit iffy (for this age, I haven't tried drawings the kids older yet)

Ptolemy&Nat+Bart
Ptolemy and Nat give me the impression of the sun and the moon, warm and cold colors. The colors of their skin and costumes also contrast with each other.
They are polar opposites. But they are both stubborn and make the same choice in the end. They seem to be opposites, but they are surprisingly similar. I like this contrast between them.

Just finished rereading the first Bartimaeus book and yeah, yeah, I can see why I loved these books so much as a child :>
I feel like these illustrations aren't 100% faithful to the source material but maybe they're how Bart wished things happened, you know??

The Stars Reversed
Kitty’s story is dear to me. She’s belittled, misinformed, abused, threatened, robbed of her rights, used, played and betrayed by almost every adult in her life. And yet she’s resisting like the badass she is. I love her.
The chase in the crypt is my favorite horror scene in the books. Run Kitty, run!

Saw the Inktober Prompt for Day 1 (Gargoyle) and immediately thought of my boy, Bartimaeus. Made this, even if it’s completely out of my usual comfort zone in terms of lineart, since i wanted to keep with the spirits of Inktober. Probably not gonna do any of the other days, because life is too stressful but still.
Bart!

Day 3: The Hanged Man
A card about self sacrifice just hits different when framed with the Bartimaeus story.
The pose is inspired by one of my favorite John Singer Sargeant sketches.

BartNatKitty.
A parody of a picture of a man trying to decide which girl to choose, hehe (Farrar might have been more appropriate for Bart's position).
↓This post has led to a parody of this painting that has gone viral. The original source seems to be C.D.Gibson.
