Holy cow, Mr. Mazzara's conversation with Miss Jenn in 1x03 makes even more sense after S4. His cynicism about the bonds formed in the theater space isn't so much coming from a difference of worldview from Miss Jenn (plus a reasonable suspicion of her background, given she was lying), it's because he was betrayed by his own band mates. Calling her insistence that theater is a family a ruse is coming from a very real place, because in his experience, it turned out to be the case
