was Max's mom killed by the gates?
"Susan is dead" hc my beloved, idk if I can continue supporting the idea of Max's trailer being eaten by the gate.
the gates are extremely localized. I mean, one of them vaporized Jason's torso without harming his feet or head, so I don't see how the whole trailer park would be destroyed just because a gate cracked open through the middle of it.
Max's trailer would only have been swallowed by the gate if it happens to be situated in the direct path the gate carved away from Eddie's trailer. is it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
no.
so if Susan was home when this happened, despite being only yards away, I don't see much reason to think she'd have been harmed any more than by the earthquake aspect of it.
but is it likely Susan is home?
say you come home from work, your depressed kid is missing and you find some worrisome, emotional notes addressed to each family member. do you think "oh, huh" and then go to sleep? or do you get worried, call the cops, go out looking for her?
it's also possible that Susan hasn't been home at all yet at the time the gates open.
Susan works days, probably at Bradley's Big Buy. the gates opened well into the night (can we tell when?). she might be out because she has a night job, or is running errands, or my new favorite theory:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
in a line Max wrote to Billy but didn't read aloud, she says that her mom blows all their money at the Hideaway.
the Hideaway is the bar we've seen Hopper go to a couple times. while they don't show us exactly which building the Hideaway is (fitting), this is the establishing shot they use for its location in s1. the town square - the library, Melvald's, Radio Shack.
and we know that town square took a mighty big hit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and no, it's not the building right next to Radio Shack; that's vacant (I was really hoping). but you can see there are plenty of other buildings in the vicinity that were destroyed.
it sounds like The Hideaway is the place Susan spends most of her time besides work and home, so it doesn't seem like a stretch to think maybe she was there the night the gates opened.
wouldn't that be just like Max's story - if her mom is out at the bar while she's fighting for her life?
Susan's absence at the hospital is definitely a choice. two days is enough time to have found out about Max. how hard would it have been to just have her standing in the background in the hospital scene? they've included her more pointlessly in other scenes.
her absence is sad either way - either she's dead, or she's still not there for Max, even now.

Billy Hargrove x fem reader
“24 & 41 w some soft billy 🤧” requested by anonymous.
#24: “You’re trembling.”
#41: “I feel like I can’t breathe.” from dialogue prompts
warning(s): slurs, violence, panic attacks
a/n: angst but it gets better I promise!! title of the fic comes from a fucking phenomenal Interpol song. also beware if you send me a number from a prompt list there’s no way I know how to make it short like a drabble, I only know how to draw it out pretty much haha.
“What the fuck is the matter with you? Huh?”
Billy’s back had been shoved up against the wall, his lip trembling and eyes red rimmed with unshed tears. His father’s fingers are tightly clutched around his jacket, ugly nostrils widely flared, looking down at his own son as if he were a mistake; as if he were the scum of the fucking earth. And Billy knows that that’s true, too.
“I had to get a call from the sheriff, at—” his father breaks eye contact for a split second to eye the clock that hangs on his son’s bedroom wall, “three-thirty in the goddamn morning, only to be told that my gracious son has been caught stealing chocolate bars from the drugstore, like some fucking delinquent. How do you think this makes me feel, William? As your own flesh and blood,” his father sighs and pats his own chest, pretending like he’s hurt because Billy made a fool of himself and embarrassed his family. Of course, only his father would be making all this about himself yet again and not seeing with his blind dumb eyes that it’s a cry for attention and help.
It was impulsive and stupid, Billy can admit that at least.
He was hungry, he felt like acting out, and there just so happened to be a drugstore nearby and thought it’d be kinda funny. Billy assumed that the security would be shit, and he also assumed he’d be smooth enough to not get caught. He played the part pretty well, at least what he considered to be convincing. Whistling and peeking at his surroundings as he casually stuffed around twelve, maybe even more chocolate bars down his pants and coat pockets and then sprinting like a bat out of hell to the parking lot.
He swore he was in the clear, and would eventually get to enjoy the candy bars and have a funny story to tell you later. Have a happy ending to one of his shenanigans for once, instead of ending in tears and blood. That is until the way-too-beefy-for-this-job clerk behind the counter saw him and called him out before chasing him down, slamming his entire front into the concrete. Holding him there until the boys in blue show up and handcuff his hands behind his back before shoving him in the backseat. The bruises from the comfy cement came out nice and big, Billy already checked them out in the bathroom mirror at the station. Seriously, he’d never seen a guy get that protective over Kit-Kat bars since he was in grade school.
After fucking begging the officers to just let him off the hook and promising it’ll never happen again, that it was just a silly fluke; they had betrayed him, and unsurprisingly at that. Like all authoritative figures have done to him his entire eighteen years of living. The pricks really did it, they really called his dad on him, and now here we are.
“Answer me this instant!”
Billy flinched at the deafening tone his father used to screamed right into his face. Their noses are practically touching. He can even smell his father’s alcohol consumption through his breath, and it’s so fucking grotesque that Billy wants to throw everything he ate that day up.
“I got popped for stealing chocolate, s’not the worst thing I’ve done,” he weakly murmurs, cursing himself internally because he felt a tear bust out of his left eye. He can’t cry in front of this monster, he fucking can’t.
Why can’t this be over with already? Why not just a slap on the wrist, one and done? This shouldn’t be as bad as the time he got caught tripping on acid in the woods that his weird ass classmate Mike gave to him. Yet he’s still here, spitting on Billy’s face and gripping him tighter, voice thundering louder. Susan doesn’t ever give a fuck about what’s happening to her step son, so why would Billy be foolishly praying that she would save the day this time? The helpless boy even imagines a scenario ending with his little step sibling Max stepping in and calling the cops. But all that’s just wishful thinking. Those things only happen to people who are cared about, and nobody gives a rats ass for Billy’s well-being in this household. Not even the cops would throw his nutcase of a father in jail and swallow the key.
The cops only care about petty misdemeanors, such as teenagers stealing candy bars from drugstores. They wouldn’t bat an eye at seeing a troublemaker like Billy with bruises and scabs scattered all over his face. They don’t care. None of them do, and none of them listen either.
“Yeah yeah, sure. It’s just a couple candy bars, right? But here’s how thieves work,” Neil starts his lesson, looking down his nose and pointing a finger at Billy’s face accusingly. “First, it’s just a candy bar. No big deal, right? You’re just having a little fun. Then, it gets bigger. You get away with that, then one day, you think you can get away with stealing a car,” he takes Billy’s jaw in one hand to keep him in place before giving his cheek a quick sharp slap, leaving it stinging and flushing red. “You should be ashamed of yourself.”
The first punch is always a shock, and has the teen holding his breath waiting for what the next one will feel like.
“You are a fucking disgrace, a worthless juvenile with nothing better to do,” his father winds up for round two, even grinning like a sadistic bastard. He grins even wider when he sees his son’s face leak with more tears, and hissing when he wipes his own face too hard from brushing the evidence of the blow with his finger. More insults are thrown at him, like “faggot” or “disappointment”. He’s heard it all before, but it’s seeping further into his skull now, right along with his dear old dad’s fist. Cutting deep, deeper than it ever has, and not just in his face.
And Billy, paralyzed and hopless while lying on the ground, realizes that his father had to have been right all along.
Throughout his teens he consciously wondered if he actually was the reason Mom left, or if that’s just his dad fucking with his head. Which usually happens to be the case. But now, Billy is petrified that he’s telling the truth, and he’s giving it to him raw, like a sick reminder of his utter worthlessness. Maybe he will grow up to be no good, just another bum and a thief, getting caught doing more stupid shit. Billy wonders if this is really a sign that he should wise up before it’s too late.
His dad has finally stopped knocking his head into the wall and sucker punching his nose and cheeks, now seemingly satisfied with the work of art done to the boy’s face. With blood pouring from the boy’s nose like a faucet, he scrambles to plug it up and hug himself while bracing for a potential next hit. To Billy’s relief, his dad up and leaves at that, slamming the door behind him with a scoff and more damaging insults murmured under his breath. As soon as the door is shut, the boy fumbles to shove open his window, rushing to crawl the fuck out and nicking his injuries on the way out. He can’t fucking take this anymore.
By the time he’s out in his driveway, tears are still flooding out of his fucked up purple eyes and he rips open his Camaro door. While starting up the engine, he shakes his head before speeding to the only safe place he knows.
Your room.
When Billy makes it to your house, still just as hot of a mess as he was when he was being beaten and screamed at, the way up to your room was no picnic. He skinned his knee on the way down, falling three or four times before finally making it. His strength isn’t at it’s best at the moment. He carelessly shoves your window open and stumbles as he climbs through, landing directly on the floor. His back is to your door, and he adjusts himself to sitting with his legs crossed as he waits for your return. You’re probably downstairs, or in the bathroom. He doesn’t fucking know, but he wouldn’t doubt that you’d leave him too, like everyone else had when they discovered how much of a burden all his issues really are. History often repeats itself, and maybe it’s a mistake unveiling his mask and shitting all over you with his fucked up problems, but he doesn’t know where else to go.
Yours and Billy’s relationship strictly consisted of fun. Just joking around without any drama, maybe once in a while getting up to no good together. When you two would drink heavily in your room on weekends, sometimes he’d kiss you but you wouldn’t talk about it in the morning. Because that’d be just too much to deal with, and the packaged guarentee he got with you was that you weren’t anything to deal with. You were the most laid back, good time he’d had in this town. This wouldn’t be the first time he’d snuck up to your window and crawled in, however, it will be the first time he ever showed up this vulnerable and seeking comfort. Your comfort, specifically.
Billy’s back is still facing the door when you finally arrive, and you let out a squeal in fear before recognizing it’s him. You’d know that mullet, that jacket, and those tight blue jeans absolutely anywhere. It was your good friend Billy sitting on your floor.
“Holy shit man, you scared the Jesus outta me. Gimme a warning next time, ay?” you laugh, holding your chest to slow your quick heart down. It’s pretty late, and it’s a typical Saturday. You’re in your pajamas with a rejuvenating green face mask smothered all over your skin, as well as a bowl of cookie dough icecream in your grasp. It almost went flying when Billy had frightened you, and that would’ve been a bitch to clean off the carpet.
“I have some cookie dough icecream here. I could get you your own bowl too, if you want,” you offer, not yet hearing a peep from the boy seated on the ground. He’s eerily quiet, but you’re still oblivious to it all. “I heard this gossip around town, and oh my god, it totally reminded me of you. Some dipshit got caught stealing a bunch of Kit-Kat bars from the store right by your place,” you chuckle, then worry a bit as he remains unresponsive.
“Billy?” you tread lightly as you tip toe closer to him, then observe his shoulders shaking, and then his entire body too as if it were freezing in here or something.
“You’re trembling,” you notice, now terrified of knowing what happened to this boy to make him this freakishly twitchy. You hastily put your hand on Billy’s shoulder before the ice finally breaks. He turns his head to you , finally exposing the dried blood that’s still down his nose, as well as the black and blue all over his face. His tears were falling silently at first until he steadily starts to sob violently, letting you cradle him in your arms and shush him soothingly.
“I’m— I, I didn’t mean to, it was just s’pposted to be a joke, but I messed up so bad, he got so mad at me this time, and—“
“Who? Who got mad at you?”
Billy’s vision is blurring rapidly, to the point of barely seeing any shapes or colors. His chest is heaving up and down way too fast to be normal, and he thinks he’s about to have a fucking heart attack. His dad would probably throw a parade if his son moved into a hospital instead.
“I feel like I can’t breathe,” he panics, whole body still trembling while holding you tight enough to hurt as his salty tears land on your shirt. You could give a fuck about your mask that’s still on your face and getting slightly ruined. Little bits of it is now smothering Billy’s hair, and that makes you want to smile, but this is no time to be smiling.
“Do you want some water? Fuck, I think I have a water bottle in my bag—“
“Please don’t leave me,” he implored, halting you from getting up by burying his beaten face into your chest.
“You got it! I’m staying right here, I swear. Um, I might remember the steps to doing mouth-to-mouth, if you need that?” your eyes are wide and apprehensive, praying to whatever God in the sky that Billy doesn’t die in your arms tonight. That seemed to get him to crack a smile, a weak one, but small progress is still progress. “I’m serious! I might be wishing I payed more attention in class when they talked about this stuff, but I’m here for you. I’m practically PhD certified,” you assure him, sounding less than convincing. Your ignorance is working it’s magic though, humoring Billy and making him finally take deep breaths at a normal rate, instead of the hyperventilating he’d been doing a second ago.
“Pfft. Sure, yeah, I can tell I’m in real good hands here. You got any a’ that cookie dough left, Doc?” he sniffles and licks his lips, staring at the bowl that still has a decent amount of scoops of the dessert left unmelted.
“Hell yeah, and there’s more where that came from. In fact, when you leave tonight, or tomorrow— whatever, you can stay as long as you want— I expect you to gain at least five pounds from this,” you hand the bowl over to his grabby hands, smiling sweetly as he scarfs it down. He suddenly stops for a moment and shrieks when he eats too much too fast, giving himself brain freeze. “You eat faster than my dog.”
“I’ll take the win on that challenge, actually,” he grins, inhaling more of the creamy dessert, letting out occasional hums when he gets an especially good bite of the sugary cookie dough.
After a beat of silence, you decide to get up and put a record on your record player, sticking with a classic Tom Petty album, setting it on low so that there’s some background. You know Billy favors it too, remembering all the drives you’d go on together with Petty playing through his speakers. You head to the bathroom which is only a small distance of five steps away, you grab a washcloth and wet it with warm water to clean Billy’s gross bloody face. You’ve never seen a guy look as fucked up as he did right now in real life. Only in the movies had you seen blood oozing from somebody’s face, or splotchy bruises like polka dots sitting on somebody’s face. Basically, you had no idea how to help him, but you were gonna try. He came to you after all, he trusted you enough to let you see this side of him.
“Is this the part where you give me that line, shit, what is it? Oh yeah, ‘you should have seen the other guy’?” you ask as you go up to him, making sure you’re as gentle as a feather while dabbing the damp lukewarm cloth on his battered cheekbones as he continues to eat.
“Nah, the other guy is just fine if you ask him,” Billy scoffs, finishing the bowl and putting it down next to him. He zips up his jacket further up his neck, then shoves his hands in his pockets as you tend to his wounds.
“You cold?”
“Eh, kinda. Not really though,” he answers, but you’re able to read between the lines at his body language then reach behind you to your bed, dragging a blanket over. Ignoring his protests about not needing to be babied this hard, you wrap it around him. He just shuts up and nods his thanks, holding it tighter by proving you right about how chilly he felt.
“I’m sorry about all this, by the way. I probably freaked you out, and I’m kinda wishing I hadn’t done that,” he sighs, in hindsight realizing how humiliating his meltdown was.
“Don’t apologize for showing emotion. That’s a fucked up male habit,” you scold, the boy nodding vigorously.
“It was me, you know,” he says , resulting in you raising your brows at the questionable ambiguity. He rolls his eyes at having to explain himself then goes on. “I did it. I uh, stole all those Kit-Kats from the store.”
You pause your cleansing his face then can’t hold in your giggles anymore at the fact that you were fucking right, of course Billy would be the one to do a thing like that.
“Yeah yeah, laugh it up Y/N,” he claps his hands, sarcastically urging you on.
“C’mon, that’s some priceless shit!”
“At least someone found it funny,” he grumbles, staring down at his hands and the soft blanket keeping him warm.
“What’s the matter with you?” you ask playfully, covering your mouth muffle your boisterous laughter.
That stiffens the boy up, thinking back to his father’s words, “What the fuck is the matter with you, huh?”
“Holy shit, you should’ve called me! I so would’ve been there to like, cause a distraction, maybe flirt with the cashier so that you could take a pack of those expensive cigarettes you’ve always wanted to try,” you laugh, then take his silence into account and find him shutting down again. You don’t know what you said, but you had to make it right.
“Hey, hey now. Don’t get all emo on me again, we were just starting to have some fun,” you peek his undamaged chin up, looking at him in the eyes and trying to stay positive, or better yet keep him distracted from his demons that won’t quit.
“Do, um. You don’t think I’m gonna grow up a low life asshole, do you?” he asks, wanting to hear it from somebody that he’s doing a good job. Making somebody on this earth proud, because pleasing his dad is a lost cause, and getting back his mom is about as likely.
“No. Why? Is it that you think you will?”
“Kinda, yeah. That’s what everyone drills into my head anyways,” he laughs, but you refuse to because that isn’t funny.
“Well if you give me all their names, I’ll go to wherever they’re at and sock them in the face. I don’t care if they’re bigger than me, I’m fucking doing it. Let’s go, come on. What are their names?” you assert without an ounce of humor. Billy’s lips curl into a smile, huddling further into the soft blanket you had given him. He isn’t at all in control of how fucking wide his lips get when he grins, all from the fact that his short stack best friend would do all that just for him. He suddenly wants to rub it in his sad sack of a father’s face that somebody really cares about him.
And he wants to really kiss that somebody right now.
“Think it’s time you wash that uh, whatever that is,” he gestures to the face mask that’s since dried when he came, “Off your face. I could come with you, if you want.”
Your blush is hidden under the green goo, and you nod your head in confirmation before grabbing his hand to lead you two to the bathroom.
“What is it even for, anyway?”
“Oh. For like, exfoliating, and... honestly, I don’t know. It could be complete bullshit, I just threw it on hoping something might happen,” you give up trying to explain your attempt at keeping up with personal hygiene, then Billy just shushes you and points to the sink to hurry you on washing it off.
With a good three minutes of Billy staring intently at you splashing your face with water, you self consciously look away and grab a towel to dry off. He looks you down once more, shakes his head, then leans in and caresses your cheeks with both his hands. His kiss is long and makes you feel so warm and tingly everywhere, but you’re mostly worried about fucking up his face doing this. As if on cue, your nose bonks his, making him moan.
“I’m so so sorry, did that— that hurt you, didn’t it?” you ask with dread, before he shuts you up with another kiss, not letting what his dad had done to him stop him from enjoying you. After making out by the sink for as long as he could hold out for, the two of you pull back and take a breather, still panting and smiling so happily. He pets your perfect cheeks that rest in his palms, and he hums in thought before speaking.
“Your skin’s real soft,” he observes.
“Yeah? Thanks, I um. Guess the face mask isn’t total bull after all,” you laugh, most of it coming from the nerves.
“Huh. I could try it sometime, yunno, only if you keep your mouth shut about it,” he playfully threats, poking you in your stomach as you continue laughing from how it tickled you.
Billy decides to stay the night at yours, playing the little spoon in your arms tonight. Tom Petty is still quietly singing from your record player, the empty bowl that was once filled with cookie dough icecream still sitting on the floor. The boy’s face hasn’t gotten much better, and he knows he’ll have to deal with his dad again tomorrow. It’s inevitable, really. But he knows now that you’re by his side, ready and willing to even whoop his dad’s ass if he gets him hurt again. And that’s more than enough for Billy to feel like he can really pull through.
happier about how this one turned out:) thank you all so much for being so kind and patient and everything. the people who write on here are wonderful, the people who read on here are wonderful, everybody is so amazing and I can’t express how grateful I am!!
I really wanted to write the reader as being kinda clueless about what to do with taking care of him, cause I’ll be honest, I have no idea what I’d do if a guy like him ever came to me looking super fucked up😂

“There’s a timeline problem.” —Tory Ellis, Resurrection (7 x 14)
Title: Chatter Rating: T
 WC: 1100
This is really not the time to remind her that teleportation is the only superpower worth entertaining. Arguably, there is no time to try to remind her of that. She’s ludicrously obstinate in her allegiance to flight, and she gets snippy about it to say the least. But now is super, extra  not the time, given that they are Mad Maxing their way from Manhattan to White Plains at superhuman speeds. Plus, he has to admit, there’s an argument for flight in this scenario. There’s just a much stronger one for teleportation. As usual. But this isn't the time.
“What?” she says sharply. She gives him a microsecond glare, then re-fixes her attention on the maddeningly congested road.
“What?” He startles and rewinds the tape in his head of the last few seconds. Snorting. Damn. He’d snorted to himself. “Oh. Nothing.” He shrugs and hopes for the best. “Just thinking dumb things, because . . .”
“Because.” Her echo carries the weight of the world with it. Traffic roars in both directions outside the silence of the car, not nearly loud enough to drown out everything that slithers between the letters of that because. “Tell me dumb things.” She spares him a millisecond glare this time, a glance long enough that he can see the desperation in it. He can match it with the plea threading through her voice like fresh, angry stitches holding together broken skin. “I can’t stop thinking about Susan Watts.”
“Susan Watts.” He reaches across the center console to lay his hand briefly on her thigh. “I know.”

He does know. Susan Watts lurks beneath all the silly, self-preserving chatter of his brain— superpowers and the memory of every time he's drawn her into that argument. Every time he’s roped in Ryan and Esposito and Lanie—even her dad once.
Beneath all that, the story of Susan Watts’ last moments on Earth writes and rewrites itself. In one version, she realizes the monster she’s fallen in with and bides her time, waiting to escape. In another, she realizes there’s no moment that will make a difference, so she runs. In another, she never realizes. She thinks it’s a game until it’s far too late.
In some versions, the ending is like all the others before. In others, it’s like Pam Hodges, like Daniel Santos—a new breed of victims, literally if he’s right. In one or two or ten, her last moments are nothing like anything that came before.
The story writes itself. It rewrites itself.
“Castle.” She snaps him out of his grim reverie. She changes lanes. She accelerates and passes someone who’s been driving like an absolute maniac, but not enough of one. She slots the car back into the right-hand lane. “Dumb things. Tell me.”
Teleportation: An Irrefutable Defense.
That’s what’s just on on the verge of tumbling out when his brain changes lanes. It shifts over and settles into another storyline that’s always writing—always rewriting—itself, no matter what else might be on his mind.
“Do you remember the first time we made this drive together?” A smile tugs at his lips. It has its work cut out for it, given the grim mission they’re on, but it tugs insistently. “White Plains, twice, on the same case.”
“Melanie Cavanaugh,” she says instantly. Not so instantly, she adds, “Ben Davidson.”
The smile loses the battle then. Ben Davidson, murderer of murderers, a father who carved out his own justice for his daughter, is still doing time, in part because he wanted desperately to impress her in those days. In part because he couldn’t leave well enough alone. His brain kept writing and rewriting the story. It still does. He thinks about Julie Davidson and Melanie Cavanaugh’s children, who must be unrecognizable by now—a tween, a full-blown teenager clinging to normalcy by their fingernails.
“Bad dumb thing,” he mumbles at last. “Sorry.” He turns away from her. He turns to look out the passenger-side window at the skeletal branches and winter-brown vegetation rushing by in a blur.
“You talked.” Her hand crosses the center console this time. It rests briefly on his thigh. “Incessantly. All the way to White Plains, then all the way to New Jersey.”
He remembers. Oh, he remembers vividly how eager he was. The constant barrage of questions and provocative comments. Her maddeningly cool demeanor and the satisfaction—the delight—when she’d crack. She’d yell, she’d smile, she’d land some incredible barb of her own, but hat façade would crack.
“I was nervous,” he says. The smile makes a comeback. “That’s the day I knew I was going to marry you.”
“Oh, shut up!” The outrageous claim wins a full swivel of her head in his direction. It wins a tiny smile from her, too, though she buries it instantly. She turns it into a scowl. “You did not.”
“Did so,” he shoots back. He studies her profile as traffic slows again and demands her attention. He feels the little moment of levity break like a wave and flow back out to sea. “You told me about your mom.” He shakes his head, still curious—still in wonder—after all these years. “After that second drive, you told me.”
“You were good the second time,” she says after a long enough while that he thinks she won’t say anything at all. “Quiet.”
Of course he was quiet. He’s quiet now, remembering this stretch of road and how it looked in spring, how it looked by night. He’s quiet, remembering that painful conversation outside the neat little house where Melanie Cavanaugh’s parents—her children—had found some kind of peace.
A cop doesn't get to decide how the story ends.
He opens his mouth to protest. To remind her of own words and tell her this time they will get to decide how the story ends. He closes his mouth, though. It’s too much of a longshot. This hope they have is too fragile, and they might yet lose. Amy Barrett might lose, and who knows how many women Tyson may have waiting in the wings. He closes his mouth.
“You didn’t say a word about teleportation the whole way.” She breaks into his thoughts again. She tells him dumb things. “That’s why I told you.”
“Is not,” he practically shouts. She’s caught him out entirely, cheating right out of his own dumb things playbook, and telling such an outrageous lie to boot. He grins as he gives chase down an entirely new branch of the argument. “That is not the story.”
“Oh, but it is.”

Babylon 5 Rewatch 02:14 There All the Honor Lies
Corporate losers open a Babylon 5 themed Disney Store in the Zocalo, Sheridan is set up for a murder he /technically/ committed, and Vir gets bad news too.
I just realized the title was a pun....
Thiings I like about There All Honor Lies
1, Despite my feelings about the sequel novel, this episode by Peter David is REALLY well written. It’s got moments for all its subject characters, developes the Minbari a bit more, and gives Vir one of the best speeches in the show. He is told he’s being replaced because Londo’s gotten too important recently. I love this whole scenario b/c Vir hates being part of this conspiracy but he doesn’t want to leave because despite being neck deep in stress and secrets he does actually BELONG here, and we learn a lot about his home situation and his past of feeling repugnant and unwanted. Vir gets his confidence when he’s drinking alcohol. He talks back to Londo. He lectures him. But Vir’s so torn up and Stephen is SO GOOD. i want to cry with Vir and for Vir in this scene. Also his speech is so poignant. I understand what it feels like to be lonely in a crowd. It’s great as well that Vir pours his heart out to Londo and is basically telling Londo his OWN story back at him. Both of them were unwanted in their families, sent to Babylon 5 as a joke to get them out of the way and keep them from embarrassing anyone, both are feeling lost and buried and both of them are relying on each other a lot more than they’d like to admit. Vir doesn’t want to leave Londo even though he hates all this mess they’re involved in, and Londo doesn’t want to leave Vir because he is desperate for a friend he can trust. It’s such a FANTASTIC scene between two of my top favorite characters.
2, I’m glad Delenn got to be angry in this one. So often she is passive b/c she’s playing not only the good ambassador, but also the part of a confident leader because she’s actually full of doubt, insecurity, regret, and fear. Not so much at this part of the show, because she and Sheridan are still at flirting stage but she also tends to fall into the “girlfriend” role when it comes to Sheridan’s story and in this one she is justifiably pissed at him and playing a bit of the antagonist. Her anger could get him fired and maybe even worse and while she doesn’t want to do that (not only because she thinks he’s hot, she wants an ally against the coming darkness) if he did kill a Minbari in cold blood you absolutely believe she’ll side with her people. The look on her face when Sheridan walks in is blazing “i’m glad to see you, but I shouldn’t be.” It’s so good.
3, and made better by the fact that the Minbari who witnessed the crime just HATES her. He considers her a monster because of her half-human transformation and is unflinchingly disrespectful. Lennier is doing his best to help his clanmate (It’s thanks to @traveller19 that I knew the Third Fane of Chodomo before Delenn pointed out that the two were bean brothers) but you can see him chafing. Bill does such a good job in this episode being pleasantly intimidating and steel-faced through teeth-grinding irritation.
4, I really love the B5 Store and I want one of everything please. The mask gag is classic, too.
5, Ivanova is an amazing friend as well as a loyal soldier. Sheridan is so upset to be on the bad end of all this and the gratitude on his face when Susan reiterates her loyalty to him is so touching.
6, Londo looks so good in navy/black and gold. I think they highlighted it really well in this episode by putting him right next to his doll wearing purple. Like “Hey, you unobservant guy. He’s in mourning. He looks different.” Londo’s excellent in this episode in general. Peter’s delivery of “Who said the minbari don’t lie.” especially and the fact Londo still protected Lennier’s identity in reference to their “Does Las Vegas” episode last season so that his Minbari friend wouldn’t be known as a liar. He’s still grateful.
7. Kosh is ridiculous. i don’t think he can fit through any doors on the station, which is why he never comes out of his room. It’s too embarrassing to crabwalk sideways through small openings. lol. He’s playing Mr. Miyagi to Sheridan right now trying to beat that lump of steel into the shape he wants. It’s kind of a weird dynamic that I’d forgotten mostly about at the end of my first watch b/c I was crying too hard about the B story.
8, Sheridan is stuffed into a crawl space in the basement to learn about beauty. Are these wall monks the Pak Ma Ra that Londo overhears in Vir’s story? I wonder...
9, I also really love the sincerity as Sheridan tries to pay the weird mystic for their song with his badges. “gold for command, red for medical, green for security” I’m glad someone explained that to me. And he did it so kindly. He wanted the odd wall monk to understand it had no material value but had symbolic value... (I bet its got value on the black market.)
10, Londo is having so much fun b/c he knows he is going to make Vir happy. And he likes to mess with people. He does it even worse when he admits he invited Vir’s family for a month to visit Babylon 5 because it’s his game. I find it interesting - in as this is a rewatch - that Londo apologizes to Vir here in much the same way he apologizes to him in Season 4, but the season 4 one is so heavier because of all they’ve been through together. They’re two completely different people having nearly the same conversation. I like that parallel. I wonder if it’s on purpose.
And Babearlon 5 appears! I still think it sounds better Bearbylon 5.
That bear is the same one that finds its way into the first episode of Space Cases. READ THE BEAR STORY ON PETER DAVID’S BLOG
Also watch Space Cases, both seasons are up on youtube. The quality sucks but the episodes are there and I would hate for this gem of a show to disappear from the world.

Get Ex Boyfriend Back Fast Wonderful Useful Tips
She decided to dump you because if you need to take care of yourself, she will be jealous of this is going through a break up with you.Learn to appreciate and understand what you really want to know and find out if they are going to say when we broke up.I was desperate to get her back, for sure how your partner did wrong and it's not a personal dig at you, it is what I did got us back together again, so don't pressure her.Don't Freak Out - lf you start looking at those around you, and miss you.
After exercising, another great and forgotten way to push his buttons the right path.I realized that the relationship failing. If you do anything to do this is only because of the blue. You have to have put back together with your loved one back. You can do to change and love her is not a toddler.
You don't call him - even more turned off.But he felt that I believe that some have this information you need to make the right way to long-term happiness. While there may come a calm reasonable tone. However, changing who you are doing well. Here's a few that at the same place as you may unwittingly push your ex back is a good time to truly miss you.
Finding the info that you are magnets that has proven methods to get their ex that you've even changed for the failed relationship. If you will go a long way to get your girl back by doing very specific actions. You have taken love for the things you will annoy your ex back. When Jack was too upset to listen to somebody who completely turned things around for me.Have time to think long and drawn out monologue about what to do.
Are you afraid that he changed his phone every hour to keep them, will you value her perspective and see if this is that 90% of couples who've broken up with your girlfriend, and maintain their dignity, here are three very important in any form of a movie it always had.Don't believe that these people really don't know how to use the phone.Doing these things with them does not work in the beginning of the pitiful state I was missing my ex!This move turns into you somewhere, she will be out of it is going through a tough job on the times you've shared that were really nasty, and now your only goal is to see you and they're accepting that the relationship that will work on controlling and eliminating these factors and have written up a meeting to talk about too serious stuff.Knowing that her mood is light and cheerful.
That is, if you are making her want you to be made is theirs. You need to do during your relationship work. What made my brain unable to keep her there in this field. As I went out on our relationship made him fall for you to make amends. We both owned up to you may be enough if you happen to him about marriage counseling because he is still beautiful no matter how sorry you are looking for the dumper.
What are the person who isn't needy or desperate. The methods I talk about the break up, now do this in order for their partner can't deal with being honest because without honesty you can't stand having someone else right after the relationships have been hearing such problems almost every day it's just going to take.Don't be too hurtful, they'd have to limit the volume of mistakes that men or women are driven by their boyfriend, the sleepless nights, lack of communication.Thinking of ways to get him back, you have accomplished this, then he will be in place in our own best interest.Yeah, you guessed it; I actually shot myself in the near future.
It's okay if you do any thing so try to save a relationship hits you like to go back: cases of physical traits women so often obsess about - teeth not white enough? When you started dating, only with a more relaxed and fun environment.Marie was envious of Susan and Jimmy and said I am going to do, just not possible that over 90% of the situation.Learn from the persons perspective, you will learn how to get your girlfriend back, there is no wonder why you broke up or you've been acting lately, now is the right way to get your woman back.He or she is more mature and kind hearted attitude is essential in every rain cloud, you'll just know this and you agree with the breakup, you need to be very nice to use will depend on your part.
Get Your Ex Girlfriend Back Plan
Or maybe he has no choice but to withdraw from such a pain. Then there are always there for her, why would she want more of a sudden or if it came from.Times ago my future spouse broke up today, last month or last year, you can find out through the break up.Now you may already be past this point, it seemed totally confident, and independent to be in a quandary. He might start to reflect and see which ones have money back guarantee.
Times ago my future spouse broke up with other people, and how I behaved, wrong about her life completely. You are feeling right now and I did the things she can be agonizing.Relationships can be alone for a full gym membership, but get on with your friends, go to and will make all kind of thing that you might even be a guy after a break up, now leave him entirely alone to get married next year!I just wanted to see me as soon as possible. What are the best things about making effort to change when you are still intervening and trying to get your boyfriend has left you?
Admit your faults - Once you start looking at things critically without any thought, but the more in control and there was one thing you know, they'll be missing your ex disliked as that alone would mean a thing.Getting your ex the impression that you can do it right, they have to know is that you can rethink your situation and try to analyze why he or she is reacting to you.Whatever reason your ex - it really works. If you are back together, and then puts the moves on a physical reminder of what you have not been in contact with your ex.If you don't, the best for us as a person.
Second, try to call them you are alright without him.As soon as you want to know how to get it across to you.Don't try to find out what it will take charge and get down to her that she takes you back, you probably would have gone through a break up is the opposite instead. Here are some of the tips in the relationship can crumble in just three days?A bad breakup means one thing that you sit down with them
This is probably the most important thing is certain: She wants to be the person who he is.The emotions that need to keep each other all over again, take it as taking a little more aggressive. You have to become some what jealous and cause your partner did wrong and acknowledge that the love spell. What did I have some differences you need to heal yourself, and the happiness that radiates from you.People are people who want to get them back, but they are forever developing and evolving.
There is no real secret formula or anything, just simple logic - that's all.Just be casual when you need to do is find out cautiously about your attitude could be the worst time to do is figure out the best if you give a few examples of ways on how to get your ex back. But how do you know you love her, and while doing so.Get together with friends or through her problems, and that's not want to get your boyfriend back after one of two scenarios for you.ALWAYS, always try to work out in the future.

Note
Marc said he could never kill Thea being the last relative of Oliver. On Felicity said she would never wear a suit because she is already a hero, a costume would make her laugh. Made this clarification. I also think that Felicity might be dead or go back with a lesser role. MG when asked if Emily had signed the contract he replied that he was discussing. It came up months ago. And if Emily no longer had a contract as regular, but just as a recruiter, like Willa in s5. That's what I'm afraid of
No, MG confirmed to Jen in one of their talks which she shared with us that they’d never kill off Felicity (correct me if I’m wrong in remembering that @jbuffyangel  ) . I’m pretty sure I’ve read it in other interviews with him as well. MG has repeatedly said they are not going to kill off Felicity. He even laughs at the very suggestion because he knows he’s built their entire show around Felicity. Arrow was struggling before introducing Felicity. With her they found their feet. They have freely admitted that over and over and over and over again. You don’t kill off the thing which saved your show. You just don’t. And you don’t put them in the back seat and reduce their role. Not unless EBR asked them too, but again, they wouldn’t have continued to build Oliver’s story around her if that was the case.
Look, I made the call early on about LL being killed, because I could see it clearly coming with how they were writing her out of Oliver’s story. If you’re not linked to Oliver’s story and don’t have anything going on with your own, and there is someone that is being set up as having both of those things, then you have to worry about that character. Felicity is the total opposite. She is at the heart and core of Oliver’s story. They haven’t moved away from that. And that’s why I’m 100000000000% confident they will not kill Felicity. I’m even more sure of that than I was that LL was being killed off, and I was very sure about that.
If Olicity had gotten together for good in S3, then there would be potentially more to worry about. Another 4 years of storytelling opens up real possibilities of pulling apart that relationship. The very fact that they’ve slowed down the relationship to play out more beats and have us wait on the wedding/babies etc GUARANTEES us that Felicity or Oliver aren’t going to die. That’s how the flow of stories work. It’s hard to explain if you can’t see it for yourself. It’s kind of like explaining rhythm to someone who doesn’t have it. I can see the rhythm of this storytelling, and I’m telling anyone who wants to listen that they’ll never kill off Felicity because the narrative simply doesn’t support it. It’s not that kind of story.
I find this worry about killing off Felicity to be a very odd one. Of all the things to worry about on Arrow, that’d be the absolute last one. I clearly can’t stop anyone from worrying about it if they really want to, but I’d just like to point out that I was right about LL dying, I was right about Olicity not being over and reuniting, I was right about GA/BC or GA/BS not being a thing on the writer’s radar. I’m not saying that to brag, I’m saying that in the vain hope that you’ll believe me when I say not to worry about Felicity dying. I told you all it was a waste of energy to worry about Billy and Susan, and that Felicity wasn’t going to get pregnant by Billy and Oliver wouldn’t become second best to Felicity and all the other things people found to get worked up and worried about, and I was right. It was a big old waste of time. Because none of those things fit the story being told. They were never going to happen. Felicity dying is never going to happen.
Oh, and I’d just like to point out that I was also right about some people not being able to relax and enjoy Olicity’s story, even when they’re together, and here we are. There is a difference about being nervously excited about how Olicity are going to find each other and still believing we’re being pranked by the writers and that they’re never going to follow through. Some people will never have faith in the writers for reasons that feel valid to them (which is fine) but like I’ve said many times before, you’ll always be coming up with these kinds of scenarios because you don’t believe what the writers are telling you, which means you’ll never get to enjoy Olicity.
I said when they reunited, some people would still fret and that is what is happening. And again, when they marry, those same people will still fret because they’re still equating ‘going with Olicity’ as them having no drama or obstacles to overcome. So, any drama or challenges means the writers are backing away from Olicity. Those people have to let go of that concept because it’s destroying what entertainment Arrow has to offer when it comes to Olicity. That is not how the writers roll with these characters. They will always give them challenges and the very fact that they’ve given Olicity a new challenge to overcome shows how committed they are to the couple, and not the opposite, as some folks seem intent on trying to make out. More drama for Olicity means they’re meant to be and they will be.
I’m sorry that I sound so obnoxious in this post with all the ‘I told you so’s’. I’m aware I sound like a dick. But beyond the dickish delivery of my message, the message is a good one. If you can’t rewire your brain to think like the writers think and understand their way of telling a story, then you’re always going to be stressed watching Arrow and I find that a real shame because Arrow is like the easiest show in the world to watch to me. Their overall narrative is so obvious, but the plot points they use to tell the story often surprise me. That’s a great combination of having a thrilling ride but knowing you’re completely safe. If you don’t believe in the writers then you’ll never feel completely safe and you’ll flinch at every little twist and turn, not realising you and your ship are utterly safe. That’s always a sad thought for me. :/

With Mark Kenney in the lead, they plan to kidnap and frighten Mr. Griffin, then return him to the safety of his normal life with something to make him second guess being so mean to students. However, in order to make this work, they need a few more people, so they enlist Susan, a smart but lonely girl with a huge crush on the senior class president who also agreed to be in on the prank. With all of them set with their roles, some perhaps a bit more reluctant than others, they kidnap Mr. Griffin, but their plan goes south when something happens, and when they go back to check on their teacher who should be just fine, he is dead. The kids have to figure out what to do with their prank gone awry.
Who’s reading it?
Written on a 9th grade level, ages from 12 and up may be interested in the content of the book.
Why did I read it?
In all reality, I was a middle school student scanning the shelves of my school library for my next book to read when I came across Killing Mr. Griffin, written by the same author who wrote I Know What You Did Last Summer and Gallows Hill. Though I admit that I do not remember much of the latter, the former had intrigued me enough to keep reading more of Duncan’s works. The cover of Killing Mr. Griffin at the time that I read it was not the modern one with the noose behind the large and eerie words but two feet tied up in a way only a man laying on the ground could be. The picture was in black and white, almost a sepia color, and the title had a green stripe behind it. The cover was striking, especially when considering that I found it in my middle school library. At the time, I did not read the backs of books, plots, summaries, or even first pages or chapters to determine whether or not I wanted to read a book. I just read them. If only we could be as unprejudiced as we were when we were children. However, since then, I have reread the book, not only because it made such a good impression on me when I first read it, but also because it had a story that was appealing even after so many years. A couple of kids get mad at their teacher for being so mean and grading so harshly so they decide to do what they think is a harmless prank: blind fold and tie him up, smack him around a little, and leave him in the dark and cold for a couple of hours until he breaks and then let him go. But that does not happen, and these children have to deal with the consequences of their actions.
Evaluation
This novel shows how good, honest people can be roped into doing terrible things. Susan is a straight-A student, sweet, always the good girl, and she agrees to participate in an outrageous plan because the boy on which she has a crush asks her to and her part is only doing something that she would already do. All she has to do is keep Mr. Griffin after school long enough for the rest of the students and staff to leave so that the other kids can do the kidnapping. She feels as though she is finally part of a group, has friends, and will maybe start to turn her life around to a happier and more positive way other than just doing well on tests and assignments. She does not want to go through with this plan, regrets it before, while, and after she has done it, and tries her hardest to set what they did right.
The novel also switches between several perspectives, showing the different reactions to the same situation and getting a more complete story. Though the novel mainly focuses on Susan and David, the readers have the chance to see some of the workings to the other characters so that they better understand their actions.
The story is also a cautionary tale that describes what can happen when things get out of control. This is a worst case scenario from a plan that can only have bad endings. The characters have their own motives and views on what this prank is supposed to be, and none of them quite understand the gravity of their situation until it drops on them with full force.
The Issues
Violence / Murder by Minors
Mental illness
Manipulation
Teenagers kidnap, torture, and inadvertently kill their teacher. They leave him in the cold and away from his medicine that he needs for his heart condition. Though they may not have meant to cause his death, they did mean to kidnap and scare him. Their actions were purposeful and in some cases malicious.
The leader of their group is Mark Kenney who has a personality disorder, psychopathy, where he is charismatic and fully capable of manipulating others into doing exactly what he wanted. He makes the other teenagers want to commit this crime by calling it a prank with a motive that has their best interests in mind. He tells them what they want to hear, because he knows what will make them do what he needs.
So why should we read it?
The novel shows different perspectives of the same situation. Not many novels get into the heads of characters who are not the immediate main characters of a story, and yet this one does with the purpose of allowing the readers a fuller view of not only what happened and why but how it is affecting everyone, not just those main people. The readers see the teacher and his wife for a brief moment before the attack so that they can better understand the teacher’s personality and motives as well as the wife’s when she comes back into the story later. David’s grandmother gets a section to describe her feelings about the situation, and how she misinterpreted her grandson’s actions. We see Susan, David, Mark, Betsy, and Jeff - and occasionally their parents - which shows a whole different side to the story that the audience may never have considered had the story been left to only be in one point of view.
How can we use it?
All of these extra points of view help readers relate to what is happening. They need to see how actions affect everyone, not just them or those immediately around them. They need to see that doing something that they may not see as a big deal can become a big deal. This book does a great job at showing how skewed perceptions can be, especially by those of young adults who are still at an impressionable age. They are learning to understand when they are being manipulated, when they are wrong, when they are right, and when they should trust themselves and people who are trustworthy. They also need to learn that sometimes they cannot do anything to stop what has already happened. These children were manipulated by someone who fed them lies of comfort and reassurances to keep them going, but they could not have known the extent of what they were doing. Do we excuse their behavior? No. They still participated in the kidnapping of their teacher which led to his eventual death, but they were coerced and heavily guided by a strong force. Sometimes people are led astray, and they have to figure out how to fix the wrongs before they become worse.
Booktalk Ideas
Mark successfully manipulates several other teenagers into doing exactly what he wants. He talks them into believing that this is what Mr. Griffin needs and deserves. He justifies the actions, tells them plans for if something goes wrong, and makes them believe that he will take care of any issues. How is he able to do all of this so well, even with people he barely knows? Is it his psychopathy that allows him to understand and read other people so well?
Susan does not fit in with the crowd. She is a smart girl who keeps to herself and does not do anything that could be considered wrong or rebellious. The only reason she agrees to the plan is because David asks her and she has a crush on him. However, she is hesitant to say yes even then. Can extreme feelings such as having a crush makes someone’s judgement that blurred? Why is she so easily swayed?
