Udayagiri Caves are a group of rock - cut cave sanctuaries, carved into a sandstone hill that stand, sentinel like, on the horizon. Situated in Sonpura and Udaygiri villages of Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It Literarily translates to "Hill of sunrise", Udayagiri was mentioned as Kumari Parvat in Hathigumpha inscription. Old city is a hub for the local culture and one may find many just chatting with their friends at leisure spots around the parts of old city. One of the most well-known are the steps of Bab-E-Sikandari leading right up to the Upper lake or Bada Talab. The zenana quarters of Gohar mahal, on the left, obstructs nothing between the gate and the quarters. There are many such forts of kings in India, which are a unique story in itself. One such fort is that of the Raisen Killa (Fort), near Bhopal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Made of sandstone, this fort has large rock walls around it. These walls have nine gates and 13 bastions. Many kings have ruled here, one of them being Sher Shah Suri. However, he had lost his sweat in winning this fort. It is said that even after four months of siege, he could not win this fort. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is also a very mysterious folklore associated with this fort. It is said that the king Rajsen here had a stone of Paras, which could also make iron into gold.
