I took a lot of pictures of Coral, lol. It’s crazy how much better my new skin overlays treat her!!

By the way, since Coral is my first sim born in the legacy, I thought I’d answer a question brought up by the fan poll:

Q: “How do you decide on character names? They're all so pretty and unique!”

(Thank you!) Names are hard! I wish I had some magic formula to give you. What has helped me is setting a theme for each generation, based on what I feel the parents would be picking.

The gen 2′s naming convention was actually unintentional, but it’s alliterative names - Coral Crest and Bud Bloom. In hindsight, though, I feel like Rocky and Rose would like the quirky logic of this naming pattern.

Gen 3 didn’t have one since there was only one kid - Dawn’s name was just based on her coloring. Dawn felt like it evoked pinks and yellows and Firefly evokes yellow.

Gen 4′s theme is rocks! Daisy Gypsum, Titania (Titanium) Glade, Rose Quartz, and Ruby Star. This not only references Dawn’s interest in rocks, but also the way she met Gleam (both times) looking for rocks.

Finally, Gen 5′s theme is music. Cadence Allegra, Coda Lament, Lyric Alto, and Piper Soprano are all references to musical terms! Of course, this references Heath (and eventually Rosie’s) interest in music.

Other parts of my sims’ names not pertaining to the theme generally comes from colors or vibes. There’s a good directory of berry names here if you’re stumped, but I also encourage googling flowers, fruits, plants, foods, desserts, gemstones, weather, etc...

I’m Soooo Frustrated

Am I the only one frustrated with EA’s latest update?  The impact this latest update has had is a bit over whelming at best and worst, totally lacking of consideration/communication of EA on how the update would impact the community as a whole.

I don’t use a lot of mods, but I do have a ton of cc’s and it has been a pain in the rear end to ID the broken ones.  I started with the 50/50 method but ended up doing one folder at a time. If anyone has an easier way of dealing with this issue, I’m open to any and all suggestions.

I have been in touch with E A  I spoke with 2 people, and  explained to them what we all are  experiencing.. They informed me,  they have received  hundreds  of e-mails, etc, .about this matter.. They  know it is caused by the  update on Nov 12, 2019. I asked them, what are they going to do? They said, they are working on it, and will have it resolved as soon as possible.. They realize how important this game is to everyone.. They said to check on  their website for updates about this and when it will be resolved..

Heya, I've started looking into the slot issue. So far, I've been able to verify that the Naomi bookcase crashes my patched game. It has 216 slots. Meanwhile, a slotted fireplace I made that has 136 slots did not crash my game. I'm working on determining the exact combination and number of slots that causes the game to crash. However, no matter what this new slot limit turns out to be, it is arbitrary and, obviously, probably not necessary.

Once I know the precise number of slots or slot combinations that crashes the game, I plan to address this new arbitrary limit with EA. It would not surprise me in the least to find that this issue was an unintended consequence on their end that they might be willing to back out with a patch. For this reason, I recommend that everyone sort of wait on this issue to see what the company says about the problem. Clearly, the best outcome for CC creators would be for EA to remove this arbitrary slot limit that they introduced in the last patch.

Importantly, the community has spent the last several years working on slotted items for a game that did not have an arbitrary limit on the number of slots an item could have.

Edited to add: Since I posted here, I have also posted about this problem at the EA forum HERE.

For people who are not members there, this is the important part of what I posted:

"Since the last patch, there have been numerous reports about broken items with custom deco slots (bookcases, tables, shelves, etc.). The problem appears to be the addition of an apparently arbitrary limit on the number of bones an item can have. This change has impacted packages with custom added slots, causing these items to crash the game.

Before this patch, there was no reported limit on the number of deco slots that could be added to an item that functioned in the game. Since this patch, no mod can have more than 195 bones in the rig resource. This limits the number of slots that an item can have and still function in the game.

The result is that many CC items are now causing the game to crash. People have been making Sims 4 CC items with more than 195 bones for years. Thus, this change is causing a very large number of items to crash the game. Fixing this on our end would require all creators to modify all the creations they've made for the last several years.

What we're hoping is that EA will back out this possibly unintended change so that the years of work our community has put in on an enormous amount of content does not require creators to fix all of these many items. There is no graceful way for us to fix this with a batch fix, and making these items game-safe would reduce their appeal to players (it would require removing slots that players want). I would like to emphasize that this change is impacting a very large number of CC packages.

If examples of the problem are needed, please let me know, and I will provide them."

All we can do now is wait for EA to look into the issue. Hopefully, they will fix this on their end so we don't end up with hundreds of broken items with custom slotting.
