I want this freedom! What if I just let go…? What if the wings played as abstract form and pattern? Something shifted in this bright story… colours began to dance across the page in new ways… I love how the layers build and new stories surprise you. This is where I’m headed … towards that freedom and letting go even more. I find that I learn in layers. I don’t know how to do it any other way. My dyslexic brain needs lots of ideas for me to take and merge into something that feels uniquely me. The way I learn new ways to create art is the samE as how I cook. I have an idea and gather different recipes together and choose what feels like it would go together. This step into abstracting the wings and simplifying the background of my imagined owls is exciting and full of possibilities. Im@loving the light bright colours that make me feel happy. Finding owl stories as I focus on completing this owl whimsy collection of small mixed media paintings. Lots of layers and colour play as I explore the wisdom of these curious resilient souls. I love creating…. The challenge is completing as there is always an abundance of possibilities and I want it perfect… the inner perfectionist is always around when it comes to completion. These small owls are my one focus for now. The idea of one thing as the central focus helps me stay connected and complete the stories I begin. Completion and that space of finishing is easy when it’s for other people but when it’s my own business, the challenge is to set your own timelines and stick to them. It’s too easy to let other things in life take priority over your own needs. My goal was to complete 6 by yesterday… I completed 2. So today was the reset. I love the idea of using a measure of good better best so even when you don’t complete as you planned, you have a positive way of measuring progress. This idea was from a new book by @amberbonnici called #creativityunleashed which is such a nurturing guide to completion. I do love it when I connect to powerful resources exactly when I need them… a bit of guided serendipity. Im curious, how do you organise the things in your world that need to be finished? Life happens and sometimes you have to adapt. All my plans shifted and so my calendar is a month later than planned. I decided better done than perfect and I chose to do a small run. They will not be ready until the 16th so be aware of that. I also created a card while I was at it as I do love this rainbow owl image. I can always print more but it will not be a big run anyway. I hope to do a few different ones as I explore a little bit more. A few details...these beautiful top-bound full-page calendars are in large format (26.9cm Height: 40.4cm) printed single-sided and perfect for framing. Stories come in layers and sometimes the words shift on the page.New connections form as life opens. This owl is watching and waiting… holding wisdom in the stillness interrupted by the bee as one story becomes two. As I paint and step back and reflect I connect with the different aspects of the evolving story. Owl patient and still amongst the background noise that breaks the background as random letters.
