‘Would it have made it better if we’d also kidnapped Marco?’

‘Who?’

‘Isn’t that yer fella?’

‘There is no fella, I made him up to keep me Mum off my back. I don’t need anyone in my life. I’m done with that.’

‘Suit yourself.’

Cain moved off towards the bar, leaving Aaron like subterranean lava, slowly rolling.

‘Hi.’

Unexpectedly a tall figure slid into Cain’s empty bench seat.

Aaron flashed his eyes with insolent amusement that anyone would think it appropriate to approach him.

His expression was an invitation to leave again, but the stranger seemed unfazed.

‘My name’s Charles, father of Ethan, I also officiated at your sister’s funeral.’

Aaron snapped his chin away, like a boxer in a ring.

‘What d’ya want me to say mate? I don’t give a damn, literally,’ he growled.

‘Well, that’s not why I wanted to talk to you, anyway.’

The problem was he’d got his attention.

‘Robert,’ Charles said, spreading his hands, like he was unrolling a map.

If Liv’s mention was the pivot, then this was the punch, leaving Aaron too winded to speak.

‘He asked you to apply for a visiting order.’

‘No.’

‘He said to tell you, and I quote: - if you can shift your arse all the way to Italy then you should be able to manage the Isle of Wight.’

‘I don’t want to see him, padre. And how come you’re in touch with him anyway?’

‘My father, Victor, was in a high security prison, their paths crossed and Robert discovered the connection to Emmerdale and asked me to get in touch. I thought, maybe he wanted some spiritual support.’

‘Robert doesn’t do God.’

‘You’re right as I discovered, but he does do manipulation. As far as I can gather, he’s got in with some unpleasant thugs: You’d fit right in. Whatever, I’ve passed on his message and done my part. Good day to you.’

And as quickly as he’d arrived, he was gone.

Aaron stared unseeing at the shiny surface of the table, the stained beer mats, where the Vicar had so carelessly unfurled the map that long ago Aaron had rolled tightly and tied with double knots and locked away somewhere even he couldn’t reach. The map of Robert.

He glanced around nervously, then reached a hand to caress its invisible surface.

Emmerdale spoilers: Terrified Chas Dingle pushes Aaron to have cancer check after shock revelation

Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) was recently rocked to discover that she has breast cancer in Emmerdale. Because her mum, Faith (Sally Dexter) – and Faith’s Aunt Flossie – died of breast cancer she got tested to see if she had the BRCA2 gene.

In episodes to be aired soon she gets the news that she does have the faulty gene.

Even worse, it means that her brothers Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb (William Ash) and her son Aaron (Danny Miller) could well have the gene too – meaning they’re also at higher risk of breast cancer (which can affect men as well as women) and could pass the gene to their children, too.

Chas is most worried about Aaron. The two have recently become closer as Aaron has apparently decided to put his bad behaviour behind him and focus on his mum.

Chas pushes him to make an appointment to be referred for a gene test. Aaron is left uncomfortable by the pressure Chas is putting on him and tries to deflect her when she brings the subject up.

In the Woolpack the Dingles are all busy having conversations about the BRCA2 gene and what it might mean for various family members.

Ruby (Beth Cordingly) overhears and insists that Caleb tells her what they’re talking about – because she hates to be excluded from any drama.

As poor Chas looks on, mortified, an argument is soon underway between Ruby and Caleb, to the point where Cain feels he has to get involved to try to calm things down.

Caleb agrees they should take the argument outside, but Ruby won’t budge and soon Cain ends up with a knee in the groin as a reward for his diplomatic work.

In the back room Lydia (Karen Blick) and other members of the family try to support Chas, who is worried about Aaron, and is scared for what the future might hold.

They agree that finding the lump early has given her the best chance of a good recovery.

But will Aaron also give himself the best chance by getting tested?

Aaron Is Devastated.

Cain made his way to the pub to see Aaron and went into the back room.

"Are you going to open that or what?" Cain asked as Aaron stared at a letter he had in his hand.

"The divorce papers I take it?" asked Cain as Aaron read his letter.

"Yes our divorce has come through" said Aaron bursting into tears "My life's over"

"Come on Aaron" said Cain putting his arms round his nephew to comfort him. "You and Mack were meant to be but you nearly killed him Aaron"

"And don't you think I don't know that" said Aaron "It's eating away at me"

"Come on don't let your mum see your cry" said Cain "You know how she worries and this will really upset her"

"She'll be down in a minute" said Aaron "I'm going on a bender"

"Is that wise?" Cain asked.

"No but I'm doing it anyway" said Aaron.

Aaron made his way to the Hop where he ordered a bottle of vodka.

"Are you sure about this Aaron" asked Victoria.

"Never been surer" Aaron replied "My sisters favourite drink" he said to Victoria who reluctantly sold him a bottle of vodka.

Aaron sat drinking when Ethan came in.

"Why don't you come back to mine" Aaron slurred.

"You're drunk" said Ethan "And even if you were sober the answer would be no"

Aaron staggered back to the pub where Cain was drinking with Moira.

"Just look at the state of you" said Cain "You'd better not let your mother see you in that state. She's got enough on her plate"

"Don't worry" said Aaron "I wont"

"I was sorry to hear you and Mackenzie's divorce came through" said Moira "It's heartbreaking Aaron"

"I'm cool with it" said Aaron bumping into Mary who was carrying two meals out for Jimmy and Nicola. "That's why I'm celebrating"

"I'm so sorry" said Mary to Jimmy and Nicola as Aaron had made her drop the meals on the floor. "I'll get you two more"

"Don't bother Mary" said Nicola "Seeing the state of Aaron has put us off. We're going"

"You're a liability Aaron. Don't you think Chas has enough on her plate" Cain yelled at Aaron "Hope you're proud of yourself. Just go home before I lose it completely"

"Don't tell me what to do" said Aaron "Or you'll regret it little big man"

"Just ignore him Cain" said Moira "He's itching for a fight"

"Let's get you home Aaron" said Nicky who was leaving and could see the state Aaron was in. "I'll make sure he gets home safe Cain"

"And get that other bottle of Vodka off him" said Cain "His divorce came through today and he's hell bent on obliterating it"

"I've got it covered" said Nicky.

"He's taking the divirce really badly Moira no matter what he says" said Cain who was worried about his nephew. "Hes devastated and the two of them are destroying each other"

"And Mackenzie is going to make a bad situation worse" said Moira. "I only hope Melanie can make him see sense"

"I don't know who's the worst out of the two of them" said Cain.

"It's agony watching them tear each other apart" said Moira.

"It's Chas and Lucy I feel for" said Cain "They don't realise how a divirce can affect the whole family"

"And we're also watching Tracy and Nate kill each other" said Moira "It's the kiddies that will suffer"

Emmerdale 14.03.24 Part 3

Cain arrives at the hospital, he is informed by Aaron Chas' been in surgery for half an hour, Cain & Aaron are still quite awkward with each other as they clock watching engaging in stunted awkward conversation with each other.

Aaron feels compelled to apologize to Cain for his recent behaviour. He says he thought Cain had set him up when they were stealing Caleb's cars& says he would have deserved it. Cain has forgiven him but says he would have taken Aaron in a fair fight when they fought had Aaron not sucker punched him.

Aaron gets worked up freaking out, thinking his mum's operation is taking too long, and fretting he takes off his coat & starts to breathe hard on the brink of a panic attack as he relives the death of Liv as Cain tries to reassure him.

Aaron is comparing what is happening with his mum to his loss of Liv, Cain is trying to calm him with reassurance that a planned operation is very different from what happened to Liv, Aaron is emotionally crumbling and falling apart in his anxiety.

As Aaron is still struggling Cain realises he needs to comfort Aaron with more than just words and pulls him into a embrace trying to calm him down, it seems to help and it shows they have put the recent past behind them, their bond is still strong and survived their short lived feud.
