Me after seeing and enjoying the 2007 movie because I was a dumb fourteen year old, and then seeing a commercial for TFA on cartoon network months later: "pfttt, I can't believe they took the COOL transformers from that movie and make it into some goofy cartoon for kids!" <-idiot who knows NOTHING and is about to get her world fucking rocked.

🔪- Character you would Kill if you could.

As a story telling choice I completely understand why the outcome of Megatron's trial is left ambiguous, and narratively within the confines of the Lost Light book it works. But also? That guy is fuckin dead. In-story I'd fuckin kill that guy.

Also honorary mention because they already actually got killed but. The way Kaon got killed was sooooo satisfying to me. Not only because Revenge for what he did to Trailbreaker. Because also of how some people in the fandom were boohooing about their imagined DJD found family that was now ruined since Tarn killed him. I want to relive what those fans crying did for my skin, and if I could I'd kill him all over again.

🤍- Fav Neutral or Obscure Character?

I'm trying to scale my definition of obscure here. I feel like real hardcore tf fans are naming some repaint only released in 2009 or some comic book character only from Dreamwave. Meanwhile I'm like. Well does Heatwave from Rescue Bots count? What about Vector Prime, is that Obscure enough? The only neutral I can think of off the top of my head is Metalhawk, and he was like, fine I guess. I remember his thing with Starscream as interesting...

I'm gonna say Override, from Cybertron. She was really fun, and if there was justice in this world she would be in the evergreen rotation of Girl Transformers that always get into the current transformers cartoons (currently Arcee, Elita, and now Windblade). As it is I'd love for her to show up in anything else at all.

LISTEN. IT'S GOOD. I USED TO KNOW MAYBE THREE THINGS ABOUT THE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES AND THEN RISE REWIRED MY BRAIN. It's such terrifyingly efficient storytelling it's PHENOMENAL voice acting, i don't even know things about animation and even i can tell it's GOOD animation. they are a FAMILY. they love each other SO MUCH. Space dragged me in and we've been dragging in as many people as we can get. we've seen bug busters seven times now. i love these terrible boys.

🛳️ A fic that brought you aboard a new ship

Thou Which Art But Air for Q/Jean-Luc Picard oh my goddddd.

in the Star Trek Next Gen theyre just kind of haha. a little funny. Q, this chaotic neutral god-like being, purposefully being annoying and flirting (to be even more annoying) all to get a rise out of the more even-tempered Jean-luc. haha isnt it funny. and I don't even mean this in a "oh they were queerbaiting haha knife emoji" way. Like it was genuinely funny dynamic. enjoyable to watch. nothing serious there to me.

AND THIS FIC IS LIKE. SURPRISE BITCH. WHAT IF THAT, BUT SUBTLY ALTERED TO WHERE IT IS HEARTRENDERING. what if there is (to quote the author) "realism and angst, but a satisfying ending"

there is SUCH a tension in this fic as their real friendship builds. and not even a sexual tension (they dont even kiss on the mouth in this), but an emotional one. its so good. my god. the scene at picard's retirement party. the scene with Q taking picard to planet and its one tree. picard driving in space for months toward that planet. so many scenes live in my head RENT FREE. the way picard ages and q becomes his friend I just. Augh. It's sooo good man. it made me realize qcard could be MORE than haha funny. that it could be real.

fdsajghkkjd i’m going to say the entire back half not for any plot reasons but purely because i was at the time working a job where i only had access to my laptop for two hours a day most days and i realized, day of, that i wanted to get that posted that day for that prompt and i only had it half written despite scribbling in a notebook in between doing other things during the days before. i felt that the ending was too abrupt at the time but i just wanted it to be done!

Here’s one that I think is pretty up there: I don’t really like Ratchet? Across pretty much all continuities. I don’t even know exactly how this happened… he’s basically Robot McCoy, and McCoy is a great character.

I think because it’s a combo of his archetype (curmudgeonly medic) being pretty played out (see McCoy comparison above) and there being some continuities where he does things that are beyond that archetype that I didn’t really like. Like after my first real experience with a Ratchet (tfa Ratchet, my favorite Ratchet to this day) I was like, thanks, had my fill of that. And then other continuities had the things I didn’t like, mainly… being shipped with Optimus in tfp and with Drift in mtmte lol. Sorry Ratchet, you’re the triangle leg I don’t prefer. The mtmte one especially sits with me because of how Rodimus got shafted in characterization, even though that has nothing really to do with Ratchet. Again, sorry Ratchet.

And people loooove this guy. And I’m like. He’s fine I guess. Never my favorite.
