The car bumps along on the highway Mulder drumming his long fingers along the steering wheel as Elvis coos through the car speaker. She doesn't really know why she keeps thinking about his uber Scully comment. The way his hand caressed her back so lovingly when he said it. The slight surprise and smile on his face when she asked about his genetic makeup. The way he threw up his long arms and assured her his family passes the genetic muster. He doesn't mind being second guessed and questioned. She is already at the heart of an ongoing government conspiracy. She huffs out a laugh at that being a compatibility factor. Mulder turns to her with a soft smile. 

"What?" his voice soft as he starts to pull over into a gas station. She just shakes her head. He leans over and touches her face. 

"What is that smile for?" She gives him a small laugh. 

"I was just thinking about the uber scullys and how you and I are already at the heart of a government conspiracy, so we have that in common." 

She wonders if he will read anything into her meaning. If he has ever thought of them like she has. She loves Mulder. She already knows that he is all that she wants and is the only man she could see herself with long term. He excites her in ways she didn't know she needed. He is not perfect, far from it. But in the same moments that he is infuriating and insufferable, he is also intriguing and a calming force beside her. Mulder taps the steering wheel before killing the engine. She assumes he will pump the gas, go inside buy sunflower seeds a bad cup of stale coffee and a water bottle she wont bother to ask for but will always accept and appreciate. 

He turns to face her his serious expression cause her to knit her eyebrows in confusion. 

"I love that you second guess me." His voice shakes a little at the end. 

"Corrective lenses is pretty close to spotless Mulder." Her voice is low and her eyes hit his. 

He nods and smiles slightly. She blushes as his car door opens. He clears his throat and leans back into the car. 

"Want anything besides a water?" Her grin back and soft shake is all he needs as he sets the car to fill up with gas and strolls towards the convenience store door, thinking about little kids with dark hair like his and piercing blue eyes.

She sits back against the seat and thinks of family road trips and the mountain of snacks he would buy their kids.

Wow, what an episode. Incredibly scary and disgusting topic but in contrast the M&S bits seem so wonderful and beautiful. Is this peak Mulder? IDK this is pretty good Mulder this ep. Scully also wtf. These two, talking about pumping out babies. Together. YEssssss........... (OK, sorry.)

Mulder's baseball obsession, can't stop thinking about the next scene we get with M&S and baseball. But this one is good too. His sleeves rolled up, his hair looks goddamned gorgeous. Ugh.

They're pressed together like sardines in the "autopsy closet". What's so strange about it, is that they choose to stand this close even when not forced to do so. I wish they kept the "pen-light" comment in, but I guess it wasn't really appropriate in the circumstances.

The Conversation on the Bench. HOO-BOY. M&S sitting there, Mulder's arm casually placed behind her while they talk about Scully wanting children. The fact that Mulder tells Scully to look for a guy with a 'spotless genetic make-up' (he's already got the tolerance for being second guessed), and then SHE ASKS ABOUT HIS FAMILY. Their shared look. He knows what she's getting at. But they move on from here, the idiots. I love Mulder's comment at the end of the scene, calling her name and then saying he's never thought about her as a mother before. 😭 ❤️

Mulder fiddling with the TV in his room and Scully being amused by it. I love that they're hanging out together. 😭

Mulder's very touchy at the Peacock farm. A little hip touch when they separate from the deputy. An arm on the shoulder or back when they're in the pig pen. It's like... totally no big deal here. It's just what he does. AND I LOVE IT.

Their teamwork at fighting off the Peacocks.
