Upstead countdown: favorite look(s) 👀

for the sake of variety I’m trying to make the majority of these posts different, so I’ve picked out 3 looks I like for them, plus a bonus because why tf not y’know?

This one between them in 6x12 is fantastic because not only did it share similar dialogue (Hailey had just talked to Adam about how he could face jail time in 6x10; she told Jay he could go to prison here), but it was the way in which her look at him was softer, less harsh than w/Adam. Because Hailey lets her guard down around Jay. And he’s not staring angrily at her either. He’s just trying to understand her POV. Compared to his angry look at Adam two episodes later, & you see my point, right?

For individualized looks (b/c I can is why), I chose 5x18 for Jay looking at Hailey like:

And 7x09 for Hailey looking at Jay like this (because HELLO FLIRTY PARTNERS GOD I LOVE THIS SCENE OKAY):

I’ve posted about how much I love the 6x12 bar scene so I will not go on an all caps rant again but ofc I chose it for my favorite “thing (that works)” scene for the Upstead countdown:

Not only do we get to see Upstead do “the thing that works between [them]” but we also see tension between them when Hailey receives that message from Adam on her phone. (Note: the first of two moments ruined by a cell phone dammit😅)

Hailey’s still contemplating what to do ⬆️ still can’t quite look back at jay yet

AND THEN WHEN SHE FINALLY DOES LOOK BACK UP AT HIM AND SHE SEES THAT TINY SMILE OF HIS SHE MAYBE IS THINKING “oh ok maybe he’s gonna ask me to stay, or say wait, don’t go,” BUT DOES HE? NOPE. UGH. I mean I get I do, like I said before Jay’s just tying to be the nice guy but u know what happened? He finished last here. ⬆️ Ugh I am still bitter. Because he had another chance to stop her from leaving. Course she had another chance to stay. The both of them are just two stubborn idiots in love

And so haileys prolly looking down again like “well okay I tried. I gave him one more chance” and god damn maybe jay’s thvinking the same thing as he’s watching her. Idk. ⬆️ They don’t fucking know either cause for once their eyes didn’t help them as much as hinder them. If they had actually talked to each other or said wait / hold on / don’t go yet etc. then maybe things would’ve been different. Course then we wouldn’t be where we are now so 🤷‍♀️ slow burn at it’s (most annoying) finest everybody 👏��🍻👀

Hailey did not look thrilled to be leaving lemme just say that. She looked like 😕 I mean I don’t blame her I’m sure she wasn’t really expecting jay to just...let her go like that. Maybe she was, but even so, I’d think she would’ve expected him to say or do SOMETHING ELSE ANYTHING ELSE before she finally left. ⬆️

POOR SAD BBY JAY DAMMIT ⬆️
