Clone^2 danny headcanons and/or facts that i wanted to expand on but didn't have the motivation or inspiration to write a ficlet about. Ultimately most of these are ideas that already exist in canon clone^2 but are only now being expanded on/explored/stated specifically.

Because I'm procrasinating cfau and passively thinking about clone danny and damian again.

1 - As he's liminal, Danny generates his own ectoplasm. He generates it at a slower rate than the casual ghost but faster than the average liminal. It's what gives him an ecto-signature and results in him triggering his parents' weapons and ecto-sensors.

The ectoplasm he generates actually has a use, and he tends to burn through his supply while he's fighting because of all the physical energy he spends + the use of his scary eyes requires (albeit really minor amounts of) ectoplasm to use. It also has health benefits, as using his ectoplasm keeps his heartbeat steady and lessens the risk of his arrhythmia flaring up due to all of his physical activity and adrenaline.

It does happen occasionally that he uses up more ectoplasm than he can replace, and this has the expected negative effects on his health as all that adrenaline and stress catches up to his heart without a buffer to mitigate it. He carries a canteen full of diluted ectoplasm with him in order to give his system the boost it needs in order to stabilize itself, which he can usually tell when he needs due to excessive fatigue/chest pains/dizziness/other arrhythmia symptoms he gets that means he's low on ectoplasm.

2 - Danny's arrhythmia is a form of bradycardia (which is a slower heartbeat) -- what type? Unspecified / Unknown thanks to it being ectoplasmic in nature.

3 - In that same breath, Danny also has to burn that ectoplasm off in some form or another because if he doesn't it builds up and causes him the same issues as if he was too low. It also causes him to become more emotionally volatile, restless, irritable, overstimulated, etc, which the stress of that then makes his heart condition worsen. If too much ectoplasm builds up, it'll cause a physical electrical shock/shortage. This is rare however, and usually is the equivalent of giving someone a painful static shock. At best it makes the lights flicker or technology fritz out for a few seconds.

While it doesn't have much effect on the physical world, it does expend a good chunk of ectoplasm. Think like dumping out a heavy bucket of water that you've been carrying for a while, or getting into a hot shower after being outside in the cold for hours. It's emotionally draining but very relieving.

4 - Danny can replenish ectoplasm or generate ectoplasm faster by resting, eating, consuming other ectoplasm (fastest), fulfilling his interests / doing things that makes him happy, or by being exposed to high amounts of ectoplasm in the area. He can also rapidly generate it by being in a volatile emotional state, but that drains ectoplasm almost as quickly, and runs the risk of causing flare ups in his arrhythmia.

5 - this is actually canon to the au but I figured it wouldn't hurt to expand more on it / clarify / confirm, but Danny post-Damian has chronic pain in his hands from the nerve damage he sustained. He has daily physical therapy exercises he's supposed to do that he does in the mornings/evenings and whenever his hands hurt/feel stiff. He wears compression gloves in his day-to-day life and gets Sam and Tucker's help to brainstorm ideas about how to make compression gloves for Phantom that can include his knuckledusters. His grip and hand strength is weakened.

He has bad hand days where his hands hurt more than usual. This can happen at random, but is more common after he's overused/strained his hands either the day before or earlier in the day. His fingers stiffen up for similar reasons, and he gets tremors. It's happened before where (for example) he's braiding his hair and unbraiding it, only to need someone else to finish the braid because his fingers stiffened up and don't want to work like he wants them to.

Massages, heat, pressure, etc. helps soothe the pain, and since Danny's a fidgety person his friends and family can usually tell when he has a flare up because any hand movements he was doing prior ceased/slowed suddenly, or he starts massaging his hands / stretching out his fingers.

Damian very stubbornly insists on massaging his hands for him when this happens, he has a lot of intense guilt for being the reason for Danny's chronic pain so he wants to alleviate it in anyway he can.

6 - Danny has what I like to call "Bruce-isms", a word I came up with just now that means he has Bruce Wayne mannerisms that come from the fact that he's still Bruce's clone. A Nature vs. Nurture thing. His Bruce-isms include the Bruce Grunts Of Ambiguous Tonal Meaning ("hm", "hrm", "hn"), his workaholism, his paranoia (on a milder scale), etc. They're small, relatively non-defining things that are quirks but don't make up his personality.

He's got what Sam and Tucker like to call "Bruce Wayne Moments" which are essentially Bruce-isms but only ones that Danny and his friends are aware of considering they only know Bruce as Brucie Wayne and not Batman. "Bruce Wayne Moments" include Danny being clumsy, doing something air-headed, being oblivious, etc. It's not a common joke among the three of them since Tucker and Sam know that Danny's still pr sensitive to the whole clone thing. So they only bring it up when he's done something stupid but hilarious.

7 - while clone^2 focuses more on Danny and Damian's relationship and Danny helping Damian develop his identity beyond just "Damian Wayne's Clone", Danny still suffers from his own identity crises. He sometimes gets jealous of Ellie and Damian for being "lucky" that they always knew they were clones, rather than finding out later in life.

He's aware that this is not fair to think and that Damian and Ellie both have their own struggles as clones, but he can't help it sometimes.

He tries not to think about it too much, but when things get too quiet or when he's not busy, Danny can't help but wonder how much of himself is things he's learned on his own and come from him, and how much of it comes from being Bruce Wayne's clone. He has to stop and count how many things are unique about him specifically when he starts to emotionally spiral. It's not rational, but it's not supposed to be.

As a result Danny kinda, hm, clings to his identity as the Phantom, just a little bit? He thinks it's one of the few things that he has autonomous control over as "Danny Fenton", rather than it being a result of him being Bruce Wayne's clone. Because Bruce Wayne isn't a vigilante! Right? Right?

Consequently this becomes one of the reasons that Damian keeps mum about Bruce Wayne's identity. The original reasons were because Danny asked not to know much about the LoA beyond what Damian already told him, and Batman was technically "apart" of the LoA, and secondly because he just didn't want Danny to get involved with Batman and co and Danny knowing about Bruce Wayne's identity could potentially cause that.

But as time goes on Damian kinda notices like, just how being a clone is affecting Danny even if he hides it from Damian pretty well. He can't really comprehend what it was like for Danny to grow up thinking he was normal like everyone else only to find out he was a clone, but he does see the hurt it's causing his brother. And he does notice that Danny was holding onto being Phantom quite a bit, and figured that if he found out Bruce Wayne was also a vigilante, it would hurt him beyond belief.

8 - So Danny's creation has been kept relatively,,, mmm,,, vague? considering I've been struggling for a time how I could plausibly have his creation happen without Bruce finding out about it immediately. And my conclusion is that around the time Danny was created, Bruce met up with the Fenton parents again for some reason or another -- checking out their tech under the guise of wanting to catch up with them.

And I can imagine that, due to being close friends in college, the Fentons literally just outright told him, "Hey we wanna 'nother kid but don't want to go through the risk of pregnancy again, so we're gonna make a clone of one of us instead"

and in true Bruce fashion, he mentally went "wow i should learn Everything And Anything About This Thing Specifically. Just In Case." and outwardly went "woah cool! ahaha how does it work"

and since the Fentons consider Bruce a close friend and are also incapable of Not Talking About Science, turned and went "OH WE CAN SHOW YOU" and showed Bruce their entire cloning process up to and including how they (safely) extracted the DNA they were gonna use. of which they already had. they were gonna just extract Jack's DNA a second time as an example, but it was Bruce who said "hey you should try me instead" in order to gauge how exactly safe this was and if there were any symptoms he would need to recognize in cloning.

so with his consent they did, and then showed him how they were going to use the DNA to make a clone without actually going through the process. Without prompting from Bruce, the Fentons went "we're gonna throw your DNA away though since we don't want this lying around and because we have no use for it" and visibly showed him that they were disposing it.

Bruce came to the conclusion that the Fentons weren't planning anything nefarious, they just really wanted another kid, and (reluctantly) left afterwards. The mixup comes when Maddie, surprisingly, misplaces the cartridge with Jack's DNA in it and while they could have always gotten another sample, it was better and safer to just try and find the original before that.

Jack finds Bruce's in their disposable. In his excitement, he forgets that it was Bruce's DNA, and manages to get it out safely. Maddie wasn't looking when he found it, and in her excitement also forgot to ask where Jack found it. They used that cartridge instead.

When they found out they used the wrong DNA, Danny was already about year old and while Jack and Maddie are morally dubious, they're only morally dubious towards ghosts. Danny was their beloved human baby, they would never do anything to him.

That being said, they were still horrified when they found out, and really, they genuinely did consider reaching out to Bruce to tell him. They thought it was something he deserved to know since it was his DNA that got used instead, and they felt awfully guilty after he trusted them enough to let them draw DNA from him. The only reason they hadn't is because, at the time, Bruce had been really busy with something in his public life and they didn't want to bother him during such a stressful time.

So they were going to wait, and in Fenton-like fashion, forgot to tell him. When the subject came up again sometime later, they assumed they already told Bruce and went about their day.

So My Blood Au is just Me dumping all the cool stuff i can think of into a DP what if Vlad is Good ^For Starter MB Vlad or Vladimir Jude Masters is a Paranormal investigater/ hunter/exocist in a sense. He show the image to Vlad. -Danny Get jack to tell the story about the inccident. Dad what if i tell you that Your friend who die 18 year ago survived and is on our front door right now. Reunion, Jack feeling guilty about making them both like this. Go Get Maddie. Happy reunion of the trio. -Fenton Parent become accepting to Danny condition, Danny have a good mentor that can teach him ho to control his power And they live happy ever after for now

Vlad and loneliness

Vlad Masters (also known as Plasmius) is one of the most iconic characters of Danny Phantom. He's one of main antagonists of the series and he's the archienemy of Danny.

Vlad is a clever, cunning man that knows how to manipulate people into doing he wants. He's very good at keeping up his facade, knowing the right words he has to use to gain others' trust.

What makes him such a dangerous foe is not his powers but his manipulation. He likes playing mind games with Danny, often confusing and tricking him.

From what was implied in "Bitter Reunions" Vlad used to be a normal man until he got infected by ectoplasm in a lab accident back in his college days. Jack told Danny how they used to be best friends before the accident happened. After that they never spoke to each other ever again.

The ectoplasm infection left Vlad hospitalized for years and in Jack's words "it killed his social life".

"He was hospitalized with a horrible case of ecto-acne.It devastated him... and killed his social life."

Vlad after Jack makes a joke about football: "I never had any old moves! All those years in the hospital robbed me of that!"

From these lines of dialogue it's easy to understand why Vlad holds a grudge against Jack since the event "robbed him many years of his life".

It's also very evident by his words and actions in the series that the accident not only affected him physically but also it distorted him mentally. Vlad shows to suffer from an undiagnosed mental illness in the episodes he appears. He lacks empathy for those they considered him a friend and has a very twisted version of how relationships work.

In his mind, Jack "stole" the life he should have had, he stole Maddie from him and thinks that Danny should be his son.

Vlad is desperate for getting revenge on Jack and getting Maddie and Danny to join his side. He doesn't care about the extreme methods he uses, as long as he gets what he wants.

This unhealthy obsession seems to come from the constant loneliness he suffers from. Vlad is a person who would do anything it takes to be loved by someone, even if that includes hurting other people.

"I. Am. Not. A. Fruit. Loop! And I am not a villain. All I wanted was love."

But because he fails to understand how normal relationships work,he ends up pushing everyone away. He's a very toxic individual who doesn't consider how he makes others feel. He's very controlling, thinking that people are just his pawns.

In you want the best example of this, look not further than "Maternal instincs": after chasing Danny away with ghosts (Danny didn't have any of his ghost powers) he really thinks that Danny would chose become his "son".

Another episode that really explores his mentallity is in "Kindred spirits": In this episode was revealed that during all this time he had been trying to clone Danny.

"Bad clones. Mistakes. And I would watch a hundred more failures devolve into ectoplasm to get the perfect half clone ghost son."

The most ironic thing about this episode was that he already had a clone who considered him her father: Danielle.

Danielle seemed to like Vlad and called him a few times "father" and "dad". The problem again was that Vlad was so obsessed we getting his perfect clone son he didn't care about her.

This made Dani realize he was using her and decided to help Danny with escaping and defeating Vlad.

Vlad serves as a foil for Danny for this reason: While Danny gains more allies and friends, Vlad loses everyone who cares about him because of his toxic personality.

Seeing he fails at getting the love he wants, he tries getting more money and power to fill his void but it's never enough for him. It seems to make him feel more lonely and miserable.

In the end of the series (if you consider Phantom Planet canon) his destiny becomes the thing he feared the most: Loneliness. He's condemned to roam in the void space alone after tricking everyone on Earth and failing at saving it from the asteroid.

At its core, Vlad was someone who wanted to be loved but because of his personality, he didn't know how to have healthy relationships with others and that made him only become more lonely than he already was. In a way, his character quite tragic, since he was too blinded to see how was losing everyone. Once he lost everything, he understood how he took his things for granted.

This!!! This is the chance I’ve been looking for!!!

“So, even with everybody thinking you’re a bad ghost, you’re still gonna try to be the hero?”

“Well, somebody’s gotta. If not me, who’s gonna protect this town? Besides, it’s not like I can ignore a scream for help.”

I am so gonna talk about this boy I’ve been waiting for a good chance to talk about what a good, pure child he is and I am taking it now. Bless his heart I love him so much.

Let’s talk about Daniel James Fenton and why he deserves love and protection forever and always.

And yeah, I know that middle name isn’t canon, but it fits really well and I’m keeping it.

Danny goes through the biggest changes over the course of the series out of basically anyone (with maybe Valerie coming close), so let’s try to start at the beginning.

We don’t know a whole lot about what Danny was like before he got his powers. We know that he was closer to his mom and sister, and that he’s always been considered a shy, clumsy nerd. Dash seems to make fun of him for being small and weak more than anything (aside from coming from the freaky Fenton family), and that seems to be how most of the school that knows he exists sees him. He’s small, awkward, dorky, and a wimp.

Aside from that, the best idea we get of what he was like is in Memory Blank.

Ghosts are scary transforming is scary i have no idea what I’m doing somebody hjelp.

Danny has been taught all his life that ghosts are pure evil, and that they’ll attack and destroy without hesitation. As such, he’s understandably terrified of them, even more than Jazz, from what we see. This is likely what most people tell themselves whenever Danny runs off when a ghost shows up. He’s scared and wants to hide. So really, his reputation of being wimpy isn’t exactly unwarranted.

In spite of that, though, what a lot of people don’t know about him is how unbelievably brave and selfless he is.

Danny stepped into that portal, and the first time, he didn’t have Sam explaining what was going on. None of them knew what was going on. For all they knew at first, he’d died, and even when he realized he could change back, that didn’t seem to help much. One of the first conversations he has with his friends is about how he just wants to be normal again, and how if he’s discovered he’ll be viewed as a freak. Spectra’s able to play to this rather easily in My Brother’s Keeper. Danny has no idea what he even is, and he’s terrified of people finding out and not being able to accept him.

Spectra might be evil, but she’s good at what she does, and she notices pretty easily how much being accepted means to him. To quote her, he “cares too much what other people think.” It matters more to him than it does to even Sam or Tucker. It’s why episodes like Attack of the Killer Garage Sale happen. But who would accept some freaky nerd who’s not even really human anymore? Who’s at least half what his parents have taught him are evil, soulless monsters?

Of course he’s depressed. Of course he’s confused. Of course he doesn’t want to tell anybody aside from Sam and Tucker, the two people who he trusts to actually accept him no matter what.

In spite of all of that, though, even while he’s hating himself for being what he is, the only thing he can think to do with those powers is try to protect people from the ghosts coming through the portal.

Stealing? No. Pranks? No. Doing stuff like Tucker did with his powers and changing his grades? No. Freak or not, somebody has to fight off all these ghosts, and Danny’s powers allow him to do that. So superhero it is.

Though he’s not especially good at it at first, he still flings himself into danger and especially tries to protect his friends with what little he can do.

What does he get in return? Fighting ghosts keeps him from being able to study. It keeps him up late at night so he falls asleep in classes. In 13, he’s fighting ghosts for 24 hours straight, and then when they all get released, he stays up all night again capturing them all. He’s still beat up and made fun of at school by the very people he’s often protecting. Even his own parents take shots at him every chance they get. Skulker wants to kill and skin him. Valerie wants him destroyed for something that’s not really his fault. Hundreds of evil ghosts have grudges against him and would crush him the first chance they got.

Yet, even when he’s framed and labelled as public ghost enemy number one, he still wants to keep fighting to protect these people. It doesn’t matter if they hate him or if he ever gets anything in return, he’s decided this is his responsibility, and he’s going to do what he can.

And when he’s not able to save everyone? He blames himself, and goes to risk his life even further because if others are getting hurt, he’s not trying hard enough.

In Reign Storm, he literally would’ve died if Vlad had shown up a second later.

And the real kicker for me is that he never wanted any of this. He doesn’t want to be a superhero. Multiple times, he tries to go back to normal or to find some way to keep people safe while still being able to live his life as a normal teenager. Or, at the very least, he tries to find ways to make his own life easier (such as fighting back against bullies.) Every time that happens, though, it ends badly for everyone, and Danny just accepts that he’s supposed to be the good guy and keep people safe.

Even with all the lives he’s saved, though, he still views himself as a freak that nobody could accept. Early on in the show, he believes his parents would accept him, but by episode 9, hearing stuff like this all the time starts to get to him.

And if hearing that from your parents isn’t horrifying enough, Danny actually starts believing that they’d dissect him if they found out what he was. In Reality Trip, Danny’s secret is revealed to the whole world, he’s hunted down by the government, and he’s forced to travel all over the country or the lives of his family and the families of his friends are at stake. Of course, he doesn’t hesitate to do everything he can to keep his friends safe and save their families, but even while he’s doing that, he still says this.

Like, that is all kinds of levels of messed up? Danny’s doing everything he can to protect the people he cares about (and even the people he doesn’t), yet he still believes his own parents would slice him open at the first opportunity, even knowing he’s their son. That’s no reason to stop fighting and putting his life on the line, though.

The closest thing we ever get to seeing him actually accept himself and see himself as actually worth something is in the second to last episode, and even then it’s about someone else.

He’s strung up and tortured, and still the only thing on his mind is saving Danielle. Yeah, she’s a halfa, too. Heck, she’s a clone of him, but all he ever sees her as is a little girl and his family. Nobody aside from him would miss her if she died, and he hasn’t even known her for long, but without hesitation, he’s willing to trade his life for hers. She’s more than worth giving himself up to Valerie in order to keep her safe. This warms my heart for a lot of reasons, including the fact that this is likely the moment when he starts considering that maybe he’s worth something, too, even if he’s what he’d consider a freak. But even that takes an entirely new person, an innocent little girl, for him to even consider it.

And yes, he accepts his own clone without any hesitation. He loves her and wants to keep her safe no matter what.

Not even just his halfa clone, but Danny’s able to befriend other ghosts. The very things that his parents have told him for years are inhuman monsters, and that he became a superhero to fight off because he believed that. And those friends are worth risking his life for, ghosts or not.

He is a good, pure child and I will protect him.

Does he have flaws? Well, of course. He’d hardly be as interesting if he didn’t. He can be a bit shallow because of his desire to be accepted, he can be petty and hold grudges, he has moments of “selfishness” when he gets too tired to keep fighting and just doesn’t care anymore. As far as I’m concerned, though, he’s never done anything wrong in his life and I will defend him with mine.

And I shall fight anyone who tries to wake him up again. Let my boy sleep. He’s earned it.

So, first of all, I am super excited to have found somebody as excited about the clone as I am. I've been thinking about it a lot since Butch posted his video. But, I'm confused, because I thought this was ten years into the future? Wouldn't original Danny be older? Like 24 I think? Aside from that, you guys got some really good ideas about this character, and I've been laughing at some of the comments for a good few minutes.

Which, isunderstandable, everyone has their tastes, and I agree that most ofthem are just…..Put Them Back embodiments, but it was still sad tosee so little interest in the Clone.

Because its such a good idea ripe withpotential, both for TUE levels of darkness and for hilariousscenarios. For once (ONCE) Butch has done okay by me.

And now to actually answer yourquestion, lmao: Yes, you are correct, the original concept was Vladfor ten years into the future, with a teenage Danny clone (I do admitthat’s super squick, like Vlad do you have no other hobbies besidesbeing fucking creepy? Go outside and play some tennis my dude.) sincethe video was a part 2 to the original Phantom concepts for the tenyear anniversary. However, at least in the ideas and concepts I’vebeen talking about and personally throwing around, I’ve gotten rid ofthe ten year span.

Because it literally doesn’t makesense.

I have contempt for the officialPhantom timeline bc its so inconsistent, but a majority of peoplehave it taking place over a two year time span, based on the twosummer episodes. (This is something I personally don’t agree with,but I have no evidence to argue it so I’m stuck like a petulantchild grumbling in the corner) and Vlad gives Valerie her gear in S1Ep10, Shades of Grey. I cannot recall if it was specifically statedin canon Vlad was using her to get Danny’s DNA, but I’m trustingthe wiki bc I really don’t want to endure re-watching Kindred Spiritsand D-Stabalized. If we assume that this had been Vlad’s goal fromthe start (something I disagree with and will touch more aboutbelow), that means that he’s been gathering Danny’s DNA for about ayear to two years if we estimate heavily with the nonsense timebetween the episodes.

In that time span, he figured out howto do the cloning, built the equipment, went through countlessprototypes to figure out all the bumps and snags, made severaldecently “functional” clones (Dani and the one he fucking murdersas a display), made the “perfect” one, and figured out exactlywhat he needed to stabilize an artificial hybrid of ghost and humanorigin.

In two years max.

It would not take him ten fuckin yearsto recreate a successful perfect clone. Even if everything wasdestroyed twice and he lost Valerie’s “assistance”. And thereason for that is because he already knows how. The hard part isdone. Once you know how to do something through so much trial anderror, you know what not to do and what you should do the nexttime around. Vlad doesn’t need to re-figure out how to make astable, perfect clone again, he can just get the equipment, the DNA,whatever and just do it.

Which he was most likely attemptingto already do in D-stabilized.

Why do you think hewas going after Dani? Why would he want that information of “Whyare you so stable?” if he wasn’t trying again? If he wasn’t at thepoint that he NEEDED to stabilize something? For future knowledge?Please. If Vlad was truly going to make another perfect clone, hewould not wait several months after loosing the first doing literallynothing but tormenting Danny and being an ass, nor until after he’sfigured out Dani. He was working on the Clone project for a long timeunder everyone’s noses in the first place, so who’s to say he wasn’tagain?

I’m saying Vlad wasliterally within inches of succeeding in D-stabalized. That healready had a second Clone ready to stabilize.

[Edit: I was incorrect in thinkingVlad only wanted Dani to learn why she’s stable, he wanted to use herto make another perfect clone. I was close, but not close enough. Iam still standing by my theory, however, canon can suck it. It’sstill at least feasible.]

Hartman suggestedin the video, as I’m sure you know, that the Clone (I call himDaniel bc there’s literally no way he’s not namedDaniel.) has some of Vlad in him. And this, my friend, melds so well with where canon dropped off.

Vlad wanted andattempted to stabilize the clones with Danny’s full DNA, probably soit would be 100% Danny, enough to the point he was willing to murderDani to figure her out/use her. However, after failing to get themid-morph from Danny (failure 1) and failing to get anything fromDani (failure 2), Vlad would be unlikely to try the same thingsagain. I would also like to think he’d also be unlikely to continuing to announce “OI I’M CLONEING YOU” to Danny, but it’sVlad so you never know.

He would be forcedto think of something else.

There is nothing incanon suggesting that Vlad couldn’t use his own mid-morph tostabalize a clone. He never brings it up, never explains why themid-morph is the critical link aside from the fact that it just is.There’s very little info about just how these clones are made, sothere’s no known rules to what could work and what wouldn’t. A possible reason this might not work is that it could function likebody parts or blood types, where you need a match in order for it tobe properly accepted. In that case, however, its just figuring outwhat you need to tweak in order to force an acceptance, somethingprobably made easier to do when you’re in control of the entiregenetic sequence you’re fiddling with.

This would not taketen years to do. None of it would. It would take at most, I think ayear. Maybe two, but that’s pushing it. I also have a theorythat Vlad was being so obtuse in Season 3 was to purposefullydistract Danny, but take that as you will.

This is all of myfancy way of explaining why my personal ideas are set so close to theactual canon and kicking that gross ten years to the curb.

As for my forgotten notion about why Idon’t think Vlad started cloning from Valerie’s beginning was becauseVlad was still mostly focused on Maddie up until Maternal Instincts,which occurs 6 episodes after Shades of Grey. Shades of Greyis only three episodes from Bitter Reunions as well.That’s a pretty small amount of time for someone still (reasonably)sane to go “I liked that kid, I want him to be my son. I shouldclone him.”

I’d also like to state that in the fourepisodes Vlad appears in before Kindred Spirits (not including TUE)but after Maternal Instincts, not once is his main goal Danny.Nor is it ever Maddie, either. Danny becomes a factor in MillionDollar Ghost, however his main goal is still stealing the portal. InReign Storm, he’s more inclined to use Danny than to try to make himhis son, bc again: his goal is the artifacts. In Secret Weapons, Vladisn’t even interested in Danny when he’s dropped in the middleof his lab. Tbh, I can’t for the life of me figure out what Vlad’sgoal was in the whole sibling battle thing, he really just fucked hisplans up himself in that one. In Masters of All Time, his goal wasthe cure, and again, had no problems using Danny as a pawn.

Kindred Spirits is the first place inthe entire series where we see the extent of how far he’s willing togo to get Danny to be his son. The first episode where it’s his maingoal.

I just realized how close MaoT andKinSpirits are, I wonder if Vlad triggered the Ectoacne flare workingwith the ectoplasm for the clones? Hmmm, interesting.

Anyway, the point is: Vlad kept hiscloning stuff a secret, but for how long remains a mystery. Mostlybecause there’s no point in time where it becomes obvious just howdesperate he is to have Danny. Is it when he saw an opportunity withValerie? Or is it after Danny ruins his attempts to get the Ring ofRage back from Pariah by blowing up the ectosuit so he was just like“Well fuck, now what do I do to keep myself busy?”

Getting back onto the topic of Cloneand Original Danny, there’s a second, lesser reason I’ve personallybumped the time skip, and that’s because there would be literallyZero conflict between a 14 year old and a 24 year old.

OlderDanny would kick his ass, trainingfrom Vlad be damned.

OlderDanny would also not be fazed asmuch as a younger Danny as his identity being perverted by a clone.This is because the age gap would automatically render them as beingtwo different people. OlderDanny would not see the clone as himself,at least not fully, because he’s already a mature adult. The clonecould not torment Danny with the fact that he’s him, that he’sstealing anything, that he’s threatening his notion of being andsense of self. Because OlderDanny has nothing to fear about a youngerversion of himself; he’s stronger, wiser, and different enough. Thedynamic simply doesn’t work. This is why Danny could be okay withDani: he doesn’t see himself in her. He doesn’t think of her as aclone, as the doppelganger. Because she’s a girl, she’s younger,she’s different. She isn’t him in his eyes.

With an identical copy, that’s notsomething you can avoid or ignore. Can’t deny that its not your facetwisting into that evil smirk that looks so wrong because itsfamiliar but not. Its you, but its not, and its uncomfortable,its an invasion of privacy, the ultimate identity theft. Its a personthat wears your face, sees with your eyes, speaks with your voice,thinks with your brain, and bleeds with your blood. And yet its notyou.

The closest thing Danny had to this wasDan. But Dan could be defeated. Dan could be made so that he neverexisted in the first place, completely avoided.

Daniel could not.

Daniel’s creation is out of Danny’scontrol, his existence never takes into account what Danny wants orcares, because its done at Vlad’s whims. And that’s the worstpart: the lack of control. To know that an identical yet completelywrong version of yourself exists against your will and you haveabsolutely no control over it is torture, especially for someone whoalready had cause to fear himself once before. Sure, Danny can fightDaniel, suck him up into a thermos, and maybe kick it into the ghostzone to try to be rid of him forever, but he would still existand he could always come back. Unlike Dan.  And there’snothing Danny could do about it.

What even could be do? Try todestabilize him? Ask clockwork to erase him from existence? Lock himin a thermos and bury him deep in the ice caps? Kill him?

Would Danny truly be the person to tryany of those?

In other words, the closer Daniel is tobeing like Danny, the worse effect it would have. So its all aboutmaximizing that to get the full potential of the conflict. Dannyneeds a reason to see Daniel’s creation as the ultimate line crossed,the “This has gone too far” moment. Danny needs a reasonto not only despise, but fear his clone.

There are some….problems, with this,and I’ve already used them in my argument: the fact that it another you is too different, you stop seeing it as yourself. AndDaniel is not an identical copy. He has aspects of Vlad in him.There’s a very fine line to be walked, between Daniel being similarenough that it hurts Danny while being different enough to count as adifferent character. The design alone might already doom it. But fuckit, you people can pry my inverted skunk haired baby from my colddead hands.

I realize that this is a very longresponse, and very little of it pertains to what you asked. However,I hope you enjoyed my analysis and my explanation of my personalreasoning. This was a lot of fun to talk about (I can’t remember if Igot into some of the things in other asks or if I’m recalling themfrom a thing I was gonna post but hasn’t gotten to yet. I also realize that a majority of thisask talks about making Daniel Danny’s worst enemy, which goes againstthe “They slowly become bed buds” ask I got earlier. I receivedthat ask before I really had any ideas of what to do with Daniel, andsince I’m loving this worst enemy idea, the conflict isunderstandable. The friend idea is still on the table tho! All itneeds now is a climax, a trigger, a turning point. Something thatchanges the dynamic to start that “I hate you, but not as much as Idid, and I kinda sorta enjoy your company a little bit.” ball a’rollin.
