How many weekends had Kai lost to house inspections? He felt like he'd looked at every available place on the island. From a two bed near his parents, to the three bedroom with a garden in Carynthia, to the studio right in he centre of the city. He'd worked hard the last six months, going from one job to the next, saving his money. He knew getting a place would be hard, especially a place worthy of his daughter, and he'd wanted to make sure he had enough money to offer up front.

But even that didn't seem to work. Whether he went to the inspection alone, or took Minji along with him, they got rejected. For the apartment, the house, the studio. No one seemed to want to have a ex-con and his kid living in their home, even if that ex-con had worked seventy hour weeks to save up months and months of rent to pay up front.

Which is what led him to today. Walking up to a house on the outskirts of Wailing Waters (more of a cottage than anything, tucked beside the end of the beach that was more locals than tourists), with Dante by his side and Minji on the other clutching his hand. Did he have a plan? No. But maybe if they saw he was friends with someone with a good reputation like Dante? A respectable member of the community? Someone who hadn’t spent the last few years locked up.

"Just -- don't be fucking weird. Alright?" He glanced sideways at his friend for an agreement. Unspoken was how much he appreciated Dante agreeing to come along at all, but given how much Kai hated to ask for help in the first place, he was sure he knew.

As far as gay Victor Trevor absolutely got me, I don't think there was anything serious between him and Holmes. This all comes down to my reading of Holmes, who is (to me) too aroace-spec to get involved in a regular relationship (althouuuughh about Holmes, his sexual and romantic orientation and him discovering it I have had so many thoughts I could write a whole essay). He likes to have a default person though, someone who will take him as he is, and maybe even admire a little - now that's Watson, earlier it was Trevor.

And yea I think Victor got a crush straight away after their first meeting, maybe they even talked about this at some point. Maybe Holmes said that he won't be able to reciprocate this affection but if Victor is fine with keeping things as they are, then he is too. I like to think they stayed pen friends even after Trevor's leave.

I feel like I should emphasize this? My intention in the comic was to make Trevor visibly flustered because he didn't expect a young attractive boy (he's hopeless in my head), while Holmes simply didn't expect to see someone his age and so sincerely sorry.
