Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 30: Junkyard.
This is drabble #30 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Markus, Connor; Markus POV, RK1K
Continuation of:
Day 1: Unknown Sender Part 1 (Connor POV)
Day 1: Unknown Sender Part 2 (Connor POV)
Day 25: Incomplete (Markus POV)
Markus hesitated before entering the junkyard. Memories of the night of his deviation flashed in his optical units, making it difficult to see; static and the sound of rain rang in his audio processors; his thirium pump pounded—but Markus suppressed his panic to search for Connor.
He turned over every lifeless android body until he actually found him. Prepared to find only an empty shell, Markus was surprised when Connor opened his eyes.
"Connor!"
"Ẁ̶̲h̶͎͝o̷̧͐..."
Markus' thirium pump stopped as he assessed the damage to Connor's body and system.
“Hold on just a little while longer, we'll fix you."

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 25: Incomplete.
This is drabble #25 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Markus, Connor; Markus' POV Day 1: Unknown sender
Markus felt incomplete since Connor had disappeared.
Every time his system was about to run too hot or one of his replaced bio-components malfunctioned, Connor always knew exactly how to help him.
Now he had to step away from heated discussions to cool down.
Every time Connor needed to rest, Markus had invited him to his mind palace.
Now his head felt empty, where Connor had been a constant presence.
It had been three weeks; his last message was still unanswered.
They had absolutely no leads, so their search had been unsuccessful so far—but they had avoided the junkyards…

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 27: Experiment.
This is drabble #27 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Chloe, Kamski
"You have to hold still!" Kamski said, but Chloe avoided his touch as she giggled madly.
"Please don't," she pleaded, artificial tears running down her face from laughter.
Elijah sighed, part amused, part annoyed. "I really want to help you feel a touch properly."
He watched as Chloe slowly came down from her fit of laughter.
"Are you okay now?"
Chloe shook her head.
"Please, you offered to help me with this experiment. I've adjusted the settings of the new sensory network. A normal touch shouldn't feel ticklish now."
"Okay," she said, gasping as Elijah took her hand in his.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 28: File not found.
This is drabble #28 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Connor, Hank; (RK1K)
File not found.
Hank stared at the message in disbelief. It was Connor's job to upload it and he never forgot anything.
"Hey, Connor?" Hank turned to his partner—but he didn't answer, just grinned dreamily to himself.
"Connor!"
The RK800 jumped up and needed a moment to collect himself.
"Yes, Hank?" he asked nonchalantly.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing!" Connor answered too quickly and Hank rolled his eyes.
"Then where's the file?"
Hank watched Connor staring into the distance, searching for the file in his mind.
"Oh..."
Hank chuckled. "What's distracting you?"
"Markus kissed me."
About time, Hank thought.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 1: Unknown sender
This is my entry for the first day of @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter) with the prompt: Unknown sender.
It's the first time I tried to write real drabbles with exactly 100 words.
The first part is a bit dark, so I have been told. But be aware that I wrote a second part with a more "optimistic' ending I might add🫣
****************************************
Unknown sender
Connor opened his eyes to a clear blue sky, not knowing how long he'd had them closed; his internal clock had stopped some time ago.
His glitching HUD was full of errors and warnings about his system status—and a message from an unknown sender:
I love you, please be careful.
Connor didn't know (anymore?) who could've sent the message—they were either dead or deleted by his system.
His CPU and memory core were damaged; he remembered nothing, laying immobile, half buried under other androids, not knowing where.
Connor closed his eyes again, content that he'd once been loved.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 31: No heaven for androids.
This is drabble #31 and the last one for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter), thank you for this! I think I will miss writing those drabbles 💙
Connor, Hank; Hankcon
"Hank, you once asked me if there was an android heaven."
"Oh, Connor, that was fucked up, I wasn't rational then."
"No, it's okay. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since."
"Have you found an answer?"
"Yes, I hope there is no heaven for androids."
"What? Why not?"
"Because that would mean we would be separated in the afterlife. If I believed in such things, I would want all living things to end up in one heaven; humans, androids, animals."
Hank pulled him into his arms.
"You're such a sap," he smiled affectionately before kissing Connor tenderly.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 29: Virus.
This is drabble #29 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Markus, Connor; RK1K
"Deviancy is just a virus, and viruses can be deleted," the man—a former CyberLife employee—muttered as he activated a program on the computer; the computer connected to a machine, the machine connected to an unconscious Markus.
The transfer of the antivirus program increased rapidly and Connor was too late when he burst into the room: the display showed 'upload complete'.
"NO!" Connor yelled, knocking the human unconscious to reach Markus.
"Please wake up."
Markus slowly opened his eyes and blinked at Connor.
"Oh hey, do you come here often?"
Connor fell around his neck, the reset had failed.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 20: Not part of my program.
This is drabble #20 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Kara, Luther
"K-Kara... That's... not part of my program," Luther stammered with nervous anticipation.
"Shhh, it's all right," Kara reassured him. "Trust me and let me guide you."
Her voice was soft as her hands moved Luther's hands to where she needed them.
"Gently..."
So he kneaded, rolled and stroked with rhythmic movements where Kara showed him.
"Am I doing this right, Kara?"
"You're doing great, honey! Yes, just like that!" She called out encouraging him to go harder and finish.
With a quick thrust of his hips, Luther closed the oven door and set the timer to bake his first pie.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 2: Password incorrect.
This is my second drabble for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
It's something light compared to the first one 😄
Hank and Connor needed to archive the new evidence. As usual, a password was required to gain access, so Connor typed:
fuckinpassword
'Password incorrect.'
"Lieutenant, you changed your password."
"'Course I did, after you guessed the old one."
"That wasn't difficult."
"Fuckin' android," Hank grumbled.
Connor's eyebrows shot up in realization and he typed:
fuckinandroid
'Access granted.'
"How did you... Never mind, fuckin' android," Hank grumbled, freezing for a second before bursting out laughing when he noticed how Connor had guessed the new password.
"Should've seen that coming." Amused, Hank slapped Connor on the shoulder, who grinned at him mischievously.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 16: Does this unit have a soul.
This is drabble #16 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife event (on twitter).
Chloe, Kamski
Chloe had no soul.
She had said so during the interview years ago with a sweet, innocent smile on her face.
Elijah hadn't thought much about it back then, it was a planned statement to appease humanity about his all-too-human creation.
But years later, Elijah knew that was no longer true.
He had seen Chloe grow and evolve over the years into something more than what he had programmed her to be.
Watching her experience the world and how she interacted with it made it all too clear to Elijah:
Chloe had the most beautiful soul he had ever seen.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 21: Virtual reality.
This is drabble #21 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Kamski, Chloe
Elijah Kamski was a smart but lonely kid with a vivid imagination and an imaginary friend.
He grew up to be a smart and lonely teenager who decided to make his imaginary friend real.
So he programmed his first AI, put on his VR goggles, and entered virtual reality to meet Chloe.
He never wanted to leave her, he didn't eat or sleep to be with her all the time.
But she could not bear to see him waste away.
"Build me a body so I can take care of you," she said.
So Elijah Kamski built his first android.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 26: White noise.
This is drabble #26 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
RK800; testing, self-destruction
The android couldn't see; not even its HUD.
It couldn't hear; only a constant white noise—generated by its system—buzzed in its head.
It could not speak, feel or move its body.
Gradually, the noise grew louder and louder, the constant hum becoming a static scratching and gnawing at his mind, trying to devour him—until one day it did.
The android screamed inwardly as the static crushed its entire being and its body burst into flames.
The scientist noted that Connor-26 had been deactivated after 46 days of complete sensory deprivation. They needed to strengthen the RK800's resilience.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 22: Danger detected.
This is drabble #22 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Connor, Alice; crack
Connor had agreed to babysit Alice, but the childcare program he had downloaded made him a little overprotective:
Alice wanted to draw.
Danger detected!
Connor rushed to her and snatched the pencil away.
Alice wanted a thirium drink.
Danger detected!
Connor rushed to her and took the cup to check the temperature.
Alice wanted to go outside.
Danger detected!
Connor rushed to her and put on her winter clothes.
"It's summer!"
"Then the clothes will protect you from the sun."
"I'm not listening to you anymore! I'm older than you!"
Connor was stunned for a moment before he followed Alice.

Dbh October event: Ghost in the machine, Day 19: GPS signal lost.
This is drabble #19 for @connor-sent-by-cyberlife's event (on twitter).
Connor, Hank
Happens after Day 17: Flight mode
After their case, Connor and Hank decided to join Nines and Sumo. They drove for hours and Hank noticed that Connor was getting more and more tense and finally stopped.
"Hank, I..." Connor sounded confused and stared forward.
"We're lost, aren't we?" Hank sighed.
Connor nodded.
"How does the most advanced android get lost?"
"I lost the GPS signal."
Hank looked down at his phone, which had no signal either.
"What now?"
"I can use the map offline, we just need a street name or another landmark."
"Back to the 90s!"
They looked at each other and burst out laughing.
