Hey! Ty for rb'ing the beetle post. Since writing it I've heard and experimented for myself to find they LOVE plain, dry oats. Absolutely the most cost effective food if you wanna get your own. They do drag them everywhere around the tank, though lol. If you get some for yourself I hope you enjoy them!! They're so fun
yea of course!! it's a great guide :D and ooh that's great, i'll look into that! whenever i end up getting some i want to spoil them haha. thank you!
do you think a 5.5gal tank (more room horizontally than vertically) would suffice for 2-3 of these beetles? :o
OG Bradford, the death feigning beetle, died today, Deer (my roommate) found him in my mom's house 4 years ago and keep him as a pet. RIP my favorite little dude, you helped teach me that bugs are cute, cool and worth having around! May ur next journey be filled with tasty radishes
A death feigning beetle sketched in black ink and gray markers
I got some of these guys a while back. They’re impressively low maintenance and entertaining pets, as insects go. I generally avoid triggering it, although unlike some other species it doesn’t seem to be a particularly taxing experience for them.…
i'll probably raise the price to $5 per doodle soon because i keep accidentally putting more work into these than i'm supposed to but in the meantime you can still throw any multiple of $4 at my ko-fi to get that many bug doodles in return
Whats the best way to check the gender of blue death feigning beetles without stressing them out?
If you can get a good look at them in bright light without picking them up, checking out their antennae would be the easiest way. Not the end of the world if you do need to pick them up to see them better, though.
two beebs in the critter keeper, about to go on a field trip (i'm giving a presentation about them today on campus, where they'll be ambassador animals)
