Writer prompt ask: the thing I associate you with as a writer is, unfortunately, your refusal to let Miguel O'Hara cum in your Spider-Smut.

So I'm thinking of running some sort of Metroid Prime-esque session. Any recommendations for a system that would work well for a one-shot? The key things I'm looking for are a) heavy exploration focus, b) the ability to play with more than one player, and c) some light-to-medium combat complexity. Thanks!
That’s a tough one -- adding a party of player characters to Metroid Prime’s milieu basically turns it into a sci-fi version of an old-school dungeon crawl, but very few oneshot-friendly dungeon crawlers go in for sci-fi trappings.
If you don’t mind having to do some fairly heavy prep (and possibly pre-gen the characters if your group isn’t too speedy on that front), I might be inclined to knock something together in Savage Worlds, probably with the addition of the Sci-Fi Companion supplement if you’re aiming for the whole power-armoured badasses thing.

I feel like Maxine uses the phrase "you should...
Especially her mortal enemy, that one cashier who works at the dollar tree
it was foolish of me not to realize they are one and the same. the cashier who always says “haha you really like these, huh?” when she buys the legally allowed maximum amount of snickers bars is her enemy for life

Metroid ramble suggestion - pros and cons of the different beam upgrade methods. The mutual exclusion of Metroid, the pure upgrade of Prime 3, the quick switch of Primes 1 and 2, or any of the in between options of the other games.
Good one! Posting this to @bryyo-data as before, and apologies if it doesn’t make a drop of sense because it’s super late and I’m very tired.

Just wanted to say thanks for the Sundered recommendation. I finally got around to playing it and it ended up being exactly what I needed right now. Any other recommendations in that vein? I'd be strongly interested in something where the combat hits somewhere between the frenetic hand-to-hand of Sundered and the range offered in Super Metroid. Thanks in advance!
Hm. Assuming for the sake of keeping this post to a reasonable length that we’re just talking about Metroidvanias, that’s a tough balance to strike -- frenetic combo-based melee paired with ranged options that are actually worth a damn is a rare intersection.
Valdis Story: Abyssal City might hit the spot, with the caveat that both of the characters you start out with are pretty melee-centric -- the ranged fighters are only unlocked after completing the game once. It’s not a terribly long game, though, and you’ll probably want to do at least a couple of playthroughs anyway; each of the four playable characters operates very differently, sometimes to the point of having different intended routes and different sets of potential sequence breaks.
Alternatively, if you don’t mind something that’s fairly short (and very linear as Metroidvanias go), you might have a look at KUNAI. You have to get a little ways into the game before you start unlocking your ranged options, but you eventually build up quite an arsenal! Plus, the game’s movement tech revolves almost entirely around grappling hooks, which I know is a selling point for some.
Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight is sort of an edge case. Unlike the previous two entries, you start out with decent options for both melee and ranged combat, and they both remain relevant throughout the game. What you give up in exchange is the franticness: combat here is very deliberate and tactical, and doesn’t afford a whole lot of leeway for mistakes, to the point that a single errant button press can lose a fight.
As for games currently in development, you might keep an eye on either of Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- or ScourgeBringer. I ordinarily wouldn’t bring up the latter in a Metroidvania post, since it’s one of those roguelike platformers with only the bare minimum of Metroidvania elements to qualify for the genre tag (you know the kind I mean!), but I’m throwing it in here because it has some conspicuous similarities to Sundered.

What's your elevator pitch for why folks should watch Riverdale?
its the worst thing ive ever seen in my life and i cant believe it airs on real tv, that humans watch. i cant believe its not an FMV videogame series made in 1996.

Regarding the vanguard glitch - I've also seen it happen with the Turian Havoc Soldier.
Let me guess, it’s from the Havoc Strike isn’t it?
