Why did Veda Vyasa select Sri Ganesh as the writer of the Mahabharata?
It is believed that when Sage Vyasa conceived the Mahabharata, he knew that it was too good a story to be written by an ordinary scribe. He searched near and far for someone who could write the Mahabharata for him but to no avail. Then it occurred to him that he could tell Lord Ganesha to write the Mahabharata for him. He approached Lord Ganesha and Lord Ganesha agreed to write the Mahabharata but he had one condition.
Lord Ganesha revealed his condition by saying that he would write the Mahabharata only if Sage Vyasa would recite it to him non-stop without a pause. Sage Vyasa agreed to Lord Ganesha’s condition but he also had a counter-condition. He stated that Lord Ganesha would not write anything without fully understanding the sentence or the plot. Lord Ganesha agreed to Sage Vyasa’s condition and so the writing of the Mahabharata began.
Lord Ganesha was very quick at writing and hence he wrote at a great speed. This is where the wisdom of Sage Vyasa prevailed. He would purposely put some complex sentences in between which would take Lord Ganesha time to understand before he could write it down. This allowed Vyasa to catch a breath and also think in his head as to how the next sentences would be framed.
It is also believed that while writing at a very fast speed, Lord Ganesha broke the stylus with which he was writing the epic. But since he could not stop, he broke a piece of his tusk and continued. That is one of the stories that describe why Lord Ganesha is known as ‘Ekadanta’ (One who has one tusk). This selfless act of Lord Ganesha also tells us that when it comes to gaining knowledge, no amount of sacrifice is enough.

The eight incarnations of Ganesh
The Mudgala Purâna, is an eminent scripture dated of the 16 th century. It tells the story of the eight incarnations of Ganesh. Let us describe them in brief :
1.         Vakratunda, “the Lord with the curved trunk”. He is represented seated on a lion. He came to struggle against the devil Matsara, who is the symbol of jealousy.
2.         Ekadanta, “the Lord who has only one tusk”. exterminated Mada, the demon of drunkeness.
3.         Mahodara, “the Lord who has a big belly”, gives battle to Moha, the demon of illusion.
4.         Gajânana, “the Lord with an elephant face”, put Lobha, the demon of greed, to death .
5. Lambodara, “the Lord with a protuberant belly”, masters Krodha, the demon of anger.
6. Vikata, “the misshapen”, subdued Kâma, the demon of desire Ekadanta, Mahodara, Gajânana, Lambodara and Vikata are represented mounted on a rat.
7. Under the form of Vighnarâja, “the Lord King of obstacles”, lying on Shasha, the Snake of Eternity, Ganesh destroyed Mama, the demon of ego.
8. Finally, the last Ganesh incarnation is Dhûmravarna, “the Lord with a tawny color”, riding a mouse, who got victory over Ahamkâra, the demon of self-infatuation.
These mythic forms demonstrate that Ganesh has the capacity to reduce all the human weaknesses, such as jealousy, drunkeness, illusion, greed, anger, desire, egotism, self-infatuation (arrogance), which send the devotee away from his path to god. We must notice that the battle against these ennemies of the human being are really the basis of the sadhana for the spiritual seeker. But, for all that, the demons are not definitely destroyed. They are only under control and the spiritual path only allows this result.

One of the most revered shrines is the Royal Brahmin Temple in central Bangkok by the Giant Swing, where some of the oldest images can be found. Thai Buddhists frequently pay respect to Lord Ganesha and other Brahmin deities as a result of the overlapping Buddhist/Brahmin cosmology. The Rattanakosin Kingdom
The Rattanakosin Kingdom, the Kingdom of Siam, or the Early Bangkok Empire (1767-1851), were names used to reference the fourth and current Thai kingdom in the history of Thailand (then known as Siam). It was founded in 1782 with the establishment of Rattanakosin (Bangkok), which replaced the city of Thonburi as the capital of Siam. This article covers the period until the Siamese revolution of 1932.
The maximum zone of influence of Rattanakosin included the vassal states of Cambodia, Laos, Shan States, and the northern Malay states. The kingdom was founded by Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty. The first half of this period was characterized by the consolidation of Siamese power in the center of Mainland Southeast Asia and was punctuated by contests and wars for regional supremacy with rival powers Burma and Vietnam. The second period was one of engagements with the colonial powers of Britain and France in which Siam remained the only Southeast Asian state to maintain its independence.
Internally the kingdom developed into a centralized, absolutist, nation state with borders defined by interactions with Western powers. The period was marked by the increased centralization of the monarch's powers, the abolition of labor control, the transition to an agrarian economy, the expansion of control over distant tributary states, the creation of a monolithic national identity, and the emergence of an urban middle class. However, the failure to implement democratic reforms culminated in the Siamese revolution of 1932 and the establishment of a constitutional monarchy.

Some such Mantras are given below for the spiritual benefit of the readers -
Special Ganesha Mantras
Aum Shri Ganeshaya Namah
"Praise to Lord Ganesha". This is the mantra of prayer, love and adoration. It is chanted to get Ganesha's blessings for the positive starting of a project, work or simply to offer him the praise.
Aum Gan Ganapatye Namah
This is Lord Ganesha's mula ("root") mantra .It is also known as his ''beej'' Mantra. This mantra is used for Yoga Sadhana in which we pray to Lord Ganesha and merge ourself with the supreme knowledge and peace. This is a mantra from Ganapati Upanishad. One can always use it before starting any new venture so that success comes without any hassle.
Aum Vakratundaya Hum
This is a powerful mantra from Ganesha Purana. When things are not in your favour, or when the minds of the people turn negative, depressed or discouraged, the attention of Ganesha may be drawn by this mantra to straighten their ways. The HUM symbolizes "Delay no more, my Lord, in straightening the paths of the crooked-minded ones." This mantra is used many a times in the Ganesha Purana to reduce the violence of cruel demons. In addition, this mantra could also be used for healing any spinal problem, such as curvature of the spine or curved limbs. Dedicate 1,008 repetitions of this holy word to straighten and heal such deficiencies.
Aum Kshipra Prasadaya Namah
Kshipra means immediate. If some danger or negative energy is coming your way and you don't know how to get rid of that danger, with true devotion, practice this mantra for quick blessing and purification of one's aura.
Aum Shrim Hrim Klim Glaum Gam Ganapataye vara varada sarva janamme vashamanaya svaha
There are several beej (seed) mantras in this mantra. Among other things, it says, "Shower Your blessings, O Lord. I offer my ego as an oblation."
Aum Sumukhaya Namah
This mantra has a lot of meaning, in simple terms, it means you will be always very beautiful in soul, in spirit, in face, everything. By meditating on this mantra, very pleasing manners and a beauty comes on you. Along with that comes peace, which constantly works in your eyes; and the words you speak are all filled with that power of love.
Aum Ekadantaya Namah
Ekadanta refers to one tusk in the elephant face, which means God broke the duality and made you to have a complete one-pointed mind. Whoever has that oneness of mind and single-minded devotion will achieve everything.
Aum Kapilaya Namah
Kapila (red) means that you are able to give colour therapy. You are able to create colours around yourself and around others, soak them in that colour and heal them. As per the mantra you create, so will you create the colors. Another meaning is "wish cow," the "cow of plenty." It means that whatever you wish, that comes true. There is a wish-cow inside you. Whatever you wish, especially for curing others, comes true instantly.
Aum Gajakarnikaya Namah
The ears of Ganesha, the elephant - god, are constant fanning, which means people can talk a lot, but you are not receiving inside anything other than what is important. It also means that you can sit anywhere and tune this celestial tube (the body) with seven channels (chakras) and all 72,000 nadis, to any loka and be able to hear ancestors, angels, the voice of God or the voice of prophets. That kind of inner ear you will develop through this mantra.
Aum Lambodaraya Namah
This means you feel that you are this universe. It means that all the celestial bodies are within you. Like an entire tree is in the seed, the whole universe is in the sound of creation, which is Aum, and that Aum consciousness in you makes you feel that you are the universe. Therefore, if you say, realizing the oneness with the universe, "shanti to the world" every day, then the grace of God will come and there will be world peace, universal peace. It is the universe within Aum and Aum within you.
Aum Vikataya Namah
This means realizing this world as a dream or a drama. When you are in that high consciousness, this whole world looks like a dream. All of us have taken a role. We have to play our role in life as wife or husband or children or citizens, all consistent with the role we have taken. When an actor bitten by a sponge cobra that is brought on the stage falls, the entire audience cries; but that boy who has fallen knows it was not a real cobra and he is not dead. Life is a drama --definitely life in this material world, this physical world of ego, is a drama. But inside, like the boy on the stage who is quite happy knowing that he didn't die by the bite of the sponge cobra, like that, the truth never dies in us; it is immortal. So everything else you consider as drama. That consciousness comes to you by knowing this mantra.
Aum Vighna Nashanaya Namah
This mantra invokes the Lord Ganesha to remove every hindrance in your life and in your works. By constant meditation on this mantra, all obstacles and blocked energy in your physical and cosmological bodies are released.
Aum Vinayakaya Namah
Vinayaka is the name of Ganesha in the golden age. So by realizing this mantra, your life will have a golden age. In your office, in your work, you'll be the boss. Vinayaka means something under control. Vinayaka means the Lord of resolving problems.
Aum Ganadhyakshaya Namah
This mantra is very important. Suppose you have a group, a country, neighbours, or any kind of group therapy, group healing or a whole country requiring healing, then you have to bring that entire group to your mind's arena and say this mantra. A group healing takes place by this mantra.
Aum Bhalachandraya Namah
In Sanskrit, bhala means the forehead center. Chandra means the crescent moon. Bhalachandra means that chakra from where the nectar drips. That is the secret of all healing. It is to feel yourself as Shiva, identifying yourself with the Truth and feeling constantly that you are carrying the crescent moon, the symbol of growth and nectar of peace.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2022 | History & Significance Ways to Celebrate
Ganesh Chaturthi / Ganesh Puja is a national festival celebrated both publicly and privately, mainly by installing a clay idol of Ganesha. This festival celebrates Lord Vinayaka or Ganesha as the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles. Lord Ganesha is revered for his wealth and knowledge.
Tumblr media
Ganesh Chaturthi History
Ganesha is known by the names Helamba, Ekadanta, Ganapati, Vinayaka and Piraiyar. Ganesh Chaturthi/Ganesh Puja is one of the most widely celebrated Hindu festivals in the country. Lord Ganesha's blessings are invoked in religious ceremonies. Lord Vinayaka is known as a diviner who helps to avoid natural disasters. He is also the patron saint of travel. Lord Vinayaka is depicted as having an elephant's head on a human body. According to Hindu tradition, Lord Ganesha is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
How is Ganesh Chaturthi celebrated?
In some parts of India such as Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, the festival of Ganesha is celebrated for 10 days. It's a public event. We have suites. On the days of the festival, Vinayaka clay idols are placed in decorated tents inside houses and outdoors for the public to see and respect. Ganesha clay idols are also installed in schools and colleges.
Is Vinayaka Chaturthi a public holiday?
Ganesh Chaturthi is not a public holiday throughout India. It is a regional holiday celebrated only in certain states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. These states also do not require employers to declare Ganesha as a holiday.
Which States Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi?
Ganesh Chaturthi/Chavithi is celebrated in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Karnataka. Other states celebrating this festival are Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Delhi and Punjab.
What rituals are performed during Vinayaka Chaturthi?
The festival is the same across India and has similar connotations, but there are slight differences in rituals and traditions in each region. The celebration lasts 7-10 days in various locations.
Placement of the Ganapati Statue
The statue of the Elephant God is placed on a pedestal in the house or public place where Puranpratishtha Puja is performed. Don't look at the moon: On the first night of the festival, people avoid looking at the moon.
Prayer
Washing the statue. Puja with Shloka chanting and offerings of flowers and sweets. and aarti, d. H. The idol is circumscribed with a plate filled with burning earth/metal lamps, kumkum, and flowers. Daily evening and morning prayer meetings are also held at temples and public facilities in Ganapati.
Special Performances
Dance, music and skit performances may also take place in some public facilities of Lord Ganesha.
How to prepare and eat Modak
Modak is considered Ganapati's favourite candy. These dumplings are made and distributed as prasad during the festival. Other food items such as Laddoo, Barfi, Pedha and Sundal are also distributed during this period.
Visarjan
This is done on the last day of the festival (between the 7th day and his 11th day) by immersing the idol in water. It is accompanied by a procession of people singing with bhajans, shlokas and idols. People ask forgiveness for their mistakes and ask God to help them stay on the right path. Ganesha gives thanks for visiting homes/places, removes obstacles from people's paths and is auspicious.
Farewell March
Farewell March or Ganesh Her Bisarjan is a great highlight of this festival. This is a celebration in which the installed idols of the gods are immersed in a body of water. Immersion can be done in the nearest pond, lake, river or sea. Those who do not have access to large bodies of water can also bathe symbolically by soaking their idols in small vessels or barrels at home.
The idols are carried in huge processions, accompanied by devotees singing bhajans and songs, from their place of installation – either at home or in public pandals – to the body of water. Depending on the size of the idol, it may be carried on the shoulders of the family head, a symbolic family head of the region, or mounted on a wooden cart or vehicle.
All these works are accompanied by the chanting of Ganapathi Bhapa Morya, bhajans, dancing, prasad and flower distribution.
Why is the Ganesha statue submerged in water on the last day of the festival?
Ganesh Visarjan symbolizes the end of the festival and the fact that everything on earth will finally merge with one or more natural elements. It also shows Lord Vinayak's birth cycle he is born from clay and in this form, he returns to the elements.
