One of the funniest moments in the last crusade is when Indy panics and makes disguises and a backstory for him and Elsa. He makes a whole rant about tapestries only for him to deck the guy. Why did he do that 😭, man just wanted to play dress up.

It would've been interesting if one of the Indiana Jones sequels after Last Crusade had incorporated more Arthurian elements AND brought back Dr. Elsa Schneider by establishing that the bottomless chasm led to some faerie realm where Elsa was Touched By Vorlons (TV Tropes link) and escaped with some new eldritch powers
Bonus points if the actual Fair Folk hate her, because a) she wounded their pride by slipping out of their clutches, and b) "I may be Unseelie but I'm not a fucking Nazi"

My feelings about Elsa are complicated (summed up best with 'I wish she wasn't the only woman in this movie') but Indy/Elsa is kinda funny in what it reveals about Indy. Indy is suspicious of Elsa originally, but then just falls for her and believes her and tries to save her because Indy is a romantic dumbass.
Which tbh is a part of the issue I have with Elsa; the ways she is most interesting are related to how she facilitates the characterization of male characters
