Garroth gently pushed open the door to his mother’s room. Zianna was sitting on the floor at the foot of her bed. The moonlight coming through the windows defined her silhouette. The muffled crying sounds he had heard walking by were clear now. He felt very ill-equipped to help, but still approached her.

“Mum, are you alright?” he asked softly.

“Garroth!” She jolted slightly, turning away and wiping her eyes. She turned back and tried to give him a comforting smile. “I thought you were asleep already.” Her voice was thick.

Closer now, Garroth saw Zianna was cradling a knapsack in her lap.

“What’s that?” he asked.

“Hm, oh this? It’s nothing.” she answered. 

Garroth looked at her, unconvinced. He sat beside her on the floor, taking one of her hands in his. She sighed defeatedly.

“When I first had you, everything was perfect.” she began. “ You were this pudgy little thing with a head full of blonde curls. You cried for the first time and I loved you instantly. Every little thing, both the good and the bad days, just made me love you even more. You were such a happy baby, my little ray of sunshine.

“Your father adored you. We knew you’d grow up to look just like him. I saw the fierce pride in his eyes every-time he looked at you. As you got older, he began preparing you. You couldn’t have been more than five before you were at his side for every event. I stayed quiet for a bit. If this was how Garte chose to spend his time with you, it wasn’t my place to argue.”

Her expression darkened. “But I saw you changing. You were so quiet, so afraid to make mistakes. I told Garte to ease up on you, but it didn’t help. You stopped playing with your toys, stopped talking to me, or to anyone. I could see your light fading.

“Zuzu was the last bit of respite we had. Funny, considering how sick I got carrying him. Garte was afraid for me, he took time away from his duties to look for solutions. And you were practically glued to my side. You were worried, but also so excited to be a big brother. Zuzu was so different from you. He was quiet, and a bit cranky at times. But you didn’t care. You would lay on the floor with him and play for hours. I would read him stories and you would do the silly voices for me. And when Zuzu fell asleep, you’d curl up next to me and I’d run my fingers through your hair until you dozed off as well. And for just a bit, everything was right.

“But eventually, things went back to how they were before. I still had Zuzu, once he was sure I would recover, Garte made it clear that he had no regard for Zane. But he kept you close as always. I kept pushing, stealing whatever time I could get with you. It seemed the more I tried to reach out to you, the more your father kept you away from me. He said you couldn’t get distracted. All the while, the time I could get with you became less and less. You grew up, and I could see our distance in the way you looked at me.

“I disobeyed whenever I thought I could get away with it, tried to help in whatever ways I could, tried to keep that happy little boy I knew was still in their alight. And then…that day. I saw you shatter, and I couldn’t do anything for you. I have never felt like such a failure.” Her voice quavered, and Garroth squeezed her hand reassuringly. She smiled slightly.

“I had felt so lost for so long on the right thing to do.” she continued, “But after that day I was set: I was going to get you out. Get us all out. I didn’t know when, or how, but it was all I could think about. I wouldn’t let this place hurt us anymore. 

“It was a slow process, getting everything in order without raising suspicion. I had contacts more fond of me than Garte, people who might have kept us hidden. We could start over, just a normal life.”

She removed her hand from Garroth’s, opening the knapsack and pulling items out one at a time. 

“I packed this for the night we’d leave. Everything I thought we’d need. Clothes, money, fake documents.” She laid those items on the floor.

“Books for Zane, to keep him occupied.” She set down a small stack of bound books. Rummaging through the bag again, she laughed softly, before pulling out a stuffed bear.

“It’s so embarrassing. By the time I started packing, I didn’t know what things you liked anymore. But you were always enamored with your stuffed toys as a baby, it was all I could think of at the time.” She handed the toy to him. Garroth took it, his eyes starting to sting. But this was about his mom, so he took a deep breath, calming himself before setting down the toy with the other items.

“It’s terrible,” she continued, “but I was fearful that you would refuse to leave with us. I couldn’t be sure how you would react, being under Garte’s thumb for so long. But even if it was a risk, I wouldn’t give up on you.

“I kept waiting for a safe time to leave. But it never came. Deep down, I was afraid. Our lives weren’t happy but at least they were familiar. And what would happen to you boys if we were found? So I just kept waiting. 

“I never would have predicted that you’d be able to get out all by yourself. After that, my plans just fell apart. I couldn’t go after you and risk giving you away. And with Garte getting into Zane’s head, I couldn’t leave him either.

“Again, I was trapped, watching our family get torn apart. And again, I helped in whatever ways I could, for all the good it ended up doing.”

"I felt the same way," Laurance admitted. "Perhaps that's why I wanted to see it so badly."

"Well you get to see it now."

"And I'm grateful every day I get to." Laurance looked up at his lover, and when Garroth looked back down at him, he could see the slight changes. A scar etched across Laurance's left eye, and a rather large scar cutting across the right side of Garroth's face.

The fire they were sat in front of was a view of the sea as the sun set over it, making the waves look bright red. Laurance was practically draped across Garroth as the two watched the setting sun. His fiery red hair shone underneath it, and Garroth became infatuated with the emerald green color of his eyes. As if it had been lifetimes since he'd seen them.

"They can't all be perfect, can they?" Laurance questioned.

"No, I suppose they can't," Garroth agreed. "We never were."

"I'd say we're pretty close."

"Yet perfection is not to be sought after." Laurance sighed, pressing a kiss to Garroth's cheek.

"No, it isn't."

The world flashed. Reflective seas of blood became literal. The sky was darkened, and Garroth's expression twisted from love to horror, fear, and heartbreak. Laurance glanced down at his hand that wasn't holding Garroth up, which instead held a sword driven into his chest. A tear slipped down Garroth's face as his hands fell from Laurance's wrist.

Garroth's body dropped. A scream erupted, but it was just as quickly cut out by a deafening drone. And then silence. The voices were gone. The calling was answered. Garroth's face smiling back at him, his looks of anger, the different helmets he wore through out their time together. Everything they had done meant nothing. Laurance had just repeated the cycle of death Shadow Knights were created for. All his fighting meant nothing.

"Laurance? Are you alright?" Laurance jerked awake at the sound of his friends voice. He looked around the empty college classroom, seeing only Garroth standing in front of where he had apparently fallen asleep during their lecture. "Jeez, thought you were never going to wake up."

"Sorry," Laurance replied, before a yawn forced its way out of his mouth. "I was having this crazy dream."

"Care to tell me over coffee?" Laurance glanced up and in that moment that he placed his hand in Garroth's, it felt like muscle memory. Like he'd done it a thousand times and would gladly do it another thousand. Even as appearances, settings, even expressions changed. The one truth was that he was in love with this man nearly every time he found him.

Laurance did as he'd done so many times before and took his lovers hand, and the two walked side by side into an uncertain but beautiful future.

• when Aph sees Ivy there’s no mention of her being in a jury of any kind in pdh. Same with Katelyn and Jeffory actually, even Ivan in s3. If these people weren’t in the jury then who was??

• i love mcd Dante but WTF HAPPENED HERE. His character is a mess and not the good kind. he is dumb, flirty and a cheater since highschool and instead of learning from his mistake of cheating in pdh he decides to DO IT AGAIN. And I don’t see anyone else in the cast point this out or tell him not to?? Why??

• HOW TF DO ZANE’S PANTS EVEN FALL DOWN?? he legit goes down a baby water slide and boom theyre gone. Aphmau doesn’t lose her clothes while going down a roller caster water slide that GOES INTO THE SEA so HOW DOES HE?? If they were that loose they would’ve fallen off while he was walking. which they didn’t. Also doesn’t water make your clothes stick to your skin and not the other way around? Ya hello can someone please explain

The next four points are not actually bad things i found them funny in a stupid way but also how tf did they even happen:

• I’m not even going to BOTHER deciphering the physics behind Travis setting the house on fire, having said fire coming into contact with explosive feathers, and yeeting him thousands of miles away into llp

• no seriously how is he still alive

• and why is he allowed to stay?? isn’t this place sold out since forever??

• wow celeste has the power to swim thousands of miles away to llp as well seriously what does she eat??

ok let’s get back to it

• doesnt Katelyn throw Travis off a roof some time in this season, or was it s1? Either way that’s not cool

• the talk between Travis and katelyn was very much needed. I’m very glad it was written in but feel as though it could have been written a bit better. also Katelyn doesn’t even realize what shes doing isn’t ok till here in canon which I don’t like because it makes her seem ignorant or airheaded and I know she isn’t like that. she’s better than that. she should have been at least a bit aware of it since s1

• AND THIS WHOLE TALK WAS SHOVED ASIDE BCUZ AARON HAD TO ASK APH TO LIVE WITH HIM. am I the only one that feels this way? which is more important in your opinion?? there was nothing inherently wrong with this scene but the fact that THIS had more importance than the travlyn talk really upset me

• hello Gene :) the ONLY character with some decent development here. Give him a hand👏👏

let me make it known that I’m aware that this is supposed to be an anime style show so not everything will make logical sense but I’ve still put those points in cuz why not

anyways enjoy

STUFF I DIDNT LIKE ABOUT MYSTREET SEASON 3:

• ok first why does half the cast mentally regress into children?? This is extremely evident with Aphmau and Zane. Aphmau turns into a LITERAL CHILD and Zane becomes some angsty emo bratty teen. the only people who are not children are laurance lucinda katelyn and to some extent garroth

• oh wow zianna carrying the whole season on her back offering THE ENTIRE DAMN STREET. wow the Ro’meaves really care about their friends. If the Ro’meaves have so much money why do they even send their kids to pdh why can’t they go to O’Khasis prep they’re literally drowning in cash I was just ranting about this on another blog :)

• i get it this is a slice of life kinda season and it’s mainly centered around comedy but can we still see a bit of character building here like people like Dante and kc and Zane and like three fourth of the cast are severely lacking

• where do Dante and Travis even work?? I know that huge two story house isn’t cheap how do they make all that cash. Can we know what their jobs are since they don’t work at the maid cafe

• I REALLY don’t like that Zane is pretty much only shown with ponies here throughout this season. I’ve said this so many times now. HE HAS MORE CHARACTER THAN THAT. You CANNOT seriously tell me that the defining point of his character is ponies and mlh

• in the series before s3 (I think it was called the bigger move??) we get to see zianna talk about the Ro’meave family business and how Zane has always been more inclined towards it. It would’ve been nice to see it expanded on a bit more in this season considering it’s a huge company and garroth is (probably) set to inherit it and probably needs to like attend meetings or something as practice. and cue the brother angst

• is it really ok for Lucinda to constantly teleport inside people’s houses isn’t that kinda trespassing (I’ll make a post on the magic system here later!!)

• The sk’s are the ONLY people who have their shit together they have like the only decent character development arc. Gene shouldn’t have had a crush on Aphmau after all this time tho. That kinda ruins it

• WHY IS GARRANCE QUEERBAIT

• no seriously why

• WHERE IS VYLAD where did he go

• so many characters like Nicole, kenmur and Emmalyn are never seen again this is sad

• I don’t like how Aaron and Aphmau pretty much stop developing as individual characters and start developing as aarmau from this season. am I the only one who feels this way??

• not that important but

• some of the proportions for the items were WAY off. those cheeseburgers are literally the size of Aphmau‘s head and some objects are bigger (idk if this was intentional)

• why will Zane literally obey Aphmau like she’s god (which she technically is but he doesn’t know that yet) I get it their friends but let him have a bit of a backbone

• ok NO HATE TO THE VA but what is Ivan’s voice. once again no hate. but seriously

• why is every side character so generic looking?? the main cast have so many mods and add ons but they need it more DESPERATELY

• I mean just LOOK at the two dudes next to Ivan

• would it really have taken that long to at least make them not so generic

• also why do those two dudes next to Ivan like never speak why’s he got two mute dudes following him like he’s the boss

• show the sk’s more you cowards

• SHOW THEM

• yay Gene :) Gene hugging Dante is one of the best moments in this season HANDS DOWN

• once again kc’s character gets tossed aside. we don’t really learn anything new about her this season aside from the fact that she cannot be serious but we already knew that. it’s been three seasons and we pretty much know the same things we did in s1

• also can we know a bit more about some of these characters in general? Like Dante, Travis, kc and Zane. hobbies and interests?? Things unique to them?? some of these characters still don’t have many unique traits and they need them

• aarmau breakup was literally because ivan splashed a cat potion in the maid cafe and Aphmau (somehow) asks Aaron if he did it. and bcuz Aaron saw a pic of Zane hugging Aph beforehand (which even friends can do) he got mad at the whole thing and just left. I’m sorry what was going on here. Did this really warrant going back to your parents house?? Reason seems stupid to me. also I don’t like how LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE helps aph with her breakup since she’s in denial but what does she do?? Like nothing. girl pls. After the moms get involved it gets pretty straightforward. I mean they basically fetch him from his parents and bring him back. also wow Aaron’s parents SUCK. Cmon even ZANE got some development there you mean to tell me that the protag didn’t even DO ANYTHING. The person who was supposed to get the most development out of this breakup didn’t get any at all. then what was the point of a breakup if Aphmau didn’t learn anything from it??

ya so this is it that’s all that’s coming to me rn
