EXES SUCK! — PARK SUNGHOON

SYNOPSIS ⇾ Park Sunghoon, a former figure skater, and your ex-boyfriend. He was your first love back in high school, and was also your very close childhood friend but distanced away after he left unexpectedly. Now you two don’t communicate anymore which is quite sad but debuting with your newly made friends was amazing. And to help your group with promotions, your manager suggests you to be an MC at Music Bank with another male idol after your debut, only to find out it was your ex-boyfriend, Park Sunghoon.

PAIRING ⇾ idol-ex!sunghoon x idol-fem!reader (ft. enhypen, joonie from ichillin’ as y/n, chaewon from le sserafim as kia, ningning from aespa as mei, liz from ive as daisy, wonyoung from ive as melody, and many mentions of other idols).

WARNINGS ⇾ sunghoon is delulu (what’s a kayla smau if one main character isn’t delulu???), swearing, random time stamps, inside jokes, newjeans is the groups face claim, universe’s songs are from acc kpop groups um, more will be added!

CHAPTER SEVEN — funny joke! // not proofread

You slipped your phone into your purse after hitting the tweet button and looked around, realizing you had arrived at your destination. “Thank you." You thanked your manager as he held the car door open for you to exit. “You’re welcome,” he said back. “Are you still nervous?” He asked as you adjusted your clothes, dusting off any dust particles.

“It’s now hitting me, but before it wasn’t.” You laughed nervously with a smile. “You’ll be fine, don’t worry.” He reassured you as the two of you entered the building.

“Take this as an experience in case things don’t go well.”

“Wow, so inspirational. I never thought you’d be the cheezy type.” You teased and shoved his shoulder lightly as he playfully rolled his eyes in return. “I hope it goes terrible.” He said as you gasped. “You went against me that fast? I’m sorry…” You started, “…I guess.” You mumbled with a cheeky smile and interlocked arms with your manager.

You both walked out of the parking lot and to the steps that brought you to the entrance of Music Bank arms interlocked. Suddenly, a camera flash blurred your eyes as you immediately shielded your face with one hand.

What was in that thing for it to be that bright?

Soon after, many other paparazzis appeared and quickly took photos of you and your manager as you walked into the doors hurriedly.

“Jesus Christ, is this what other idols and celebrities have to go through?” You complained to your manager as he nodded. “Yeah, but depending on your popularity, it gets worse.” He warned as you nodded worriedly.

It was silent for a moment as your manager began to search for the place you were supposed to be, but then, it became loud immediately. You looked out the glass doors in an attempt to make out what the sudden cause of commotion was but the number of flashing lights only made everything a blur to you.

You squint your eyes at the beaming lights reflecting off the door as the sound of screams sounded. You were genuinely confused.

There wasn’t anyone near you guys when you walked in, so where did all of this screaming come from? Suddenly, the sight of a tall male appeared before you—maybe a little too close. You both collided into each other, catching both of you off guard.

He looked up from his phone and you looked up from his chest as you two stared at each other shocked. You immediately apologized and bowed and ran off with your manager, hoping he had found the place you were said to wait in by now.

“Are you okay?” Sunghoon’s manager asked as he nodded. “Yeah,” he started, “Yeah, I’m fine.” He said even while knowing he wasn’t. What were you doing in the same place as him? Why was his heart beating so rapidly?

“Where are we heading?” Sunghoon asked, trying to clear the air. His manager pointed at the door with the sign ‘WAITING ROOM’ as Sunghoon nodded. The two headed over to the waiting room while Sunghoon attempted to clear his head.

Another staff member walked into the wait room before Sunghoon and his manager, catching Sunghoon off guard. He wondered where you went but didn’t think much of it. Especially after he saw you sitting in one of the chairs of the waiting room.

“Oh, hey.” Sunghoon greeted your distraught figure as the staff member from earlier spoke to the manager. “Me? Oh, hi.” You were nervous. You had no clue who this man was and already embarrassed yourself enough.

“Are you an idol too?” You asked, more curious than ever. “Yeah, I’m a part of Enhypen.” He smiled softly as you relaxed in his presence. “My group just debuted recently—a few days ago actually! It’s called Universe.” You said, returning his smile. Sunghoon felt his heart melt. He hasn’t seen your smile in ages.

“I’m (Name), what about you?” You introduced yourself while holding out your hand, hoping it wasn’t too fast. “Sunghoon. Park Sunghoon.” He said as he grasped your hand with a smile.

You immediately stiffened at the familiar name as he searched your current state for any signs to answer his question; why did you react like that?

Your smile faded as you removed your hand from his grip and avoided eye contact immediately. There was no way you were in the same room as your ex-boyfriend for 3 years and not to mention 2 years ago who ghosted you unexpectedly.

You held back the sudden wave of anger and frustration and many questions you wanted to ask him and looked at your manager instead. You wished for their conversation to be up by now but things only got worse.

“Okay,” the staff member began, “I’m glad you two conversed for a bit, but I’m sorry to interrupt your conversation with important news.” He said, gaining both of your attention even more.

“Congrats on becoming the new MCs of Music bank you two!” He cheered but you and Sunghoon remained quiet and surprised.

Well, that didn’t go as planned.
