Do you think Thrawn being “exiled” was traumatic? I mean, his people, whom he saved, decided for ‘political reasons’ that he was too unpredictable and in order to protect their own agendas they decided to get rid of them.

That’s rough. Like, really. Thrawn’s continued loyalty to them could almost be seen as a type of indoctrination actually. He cannot fathom an existence for himself that is not tied to the preservation and protection of his people. He is being controlled.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, but it’s set up perfectly for Thrawn to have a character arc where he realises that there is more to life than making yourself a servant of people who don’t appreciate you. We know that Thrawn has the capacity for friendship. Let him find people who matter. Let him find a new cause. Let him find meaning.

Or not because he’s a machine apparently and ‘maybe the Empire can help’ is the limit of his character. (I miss when Thrawn actually came up with solutions.)

Thrawn’s lack of growth is particularly evident in the Ahsoka series (god I wish that show wasn’t canon) because you really do wonder: Why is Thrawn still here? Why the fuck does he think the Empire can still save the chiss? The Empire is gone. Does he know the current status of the Ascendancy? Shouldn’t that be his priority?

These aren’t even cracks anymore; his initial motivation is in pieces. It makes no sense.

Who the hell is this guy and what is he doing?

I’m left to conclude that Thrawn post-Treason has fully just lost his mind because what even is the point. I miss ascendancy trilogy Thrawn so much.

oh my go i just watched the virus sbemail for the first time and oh my goddude i feel like i just had a like 8 course feast put together to feed hundreds oh my gosshness. Okay so before I mentioned the emoticon visors as a half joke but TBH I think prime empire needs more love

Like. Does it have flaws? Sure, the final fight may have been rushed (I don’t see it tbh but to each their own) and the skybound style elimination format means some of the characters (COLEEEEEE) get fake out death-ed and don’t really show up for the rest of the season, or Jay not getting a lot of character development

But also I think Prime empire is just fun.

Like. It’s just. It’s just fun to watch.

The colors and designs in Prime Empire are amazing and super pretty, the shorter episodes means it doesn’t take too much time, and it’s full of gems like the detective Zane episode, Okino, etc.

I dunno something about prime empire is so simple but just really fun to watch. You don’t NEED to think about any sort of lore or messaging or anything, just enjoy the silly ninjas driving cars in a pretty video game world.

Prime empire is honestly one of my favorite seasons, and part of it is because it’s just really fun to go back and watch it. I don’t need to care about any sort of overarching lore implications or character arcs, I can just turn my brain off and have fun. And it’s not shallow, either - there’s some really good parts in the story like Okino, Racer Seven, the Detective Zane episodes or Milton Dyer and his attitude towards robots eventually evolving and resulting in him reconciling with Unagami. It’s fun to watch but it also does have some amount of depth to the characters and story.

I dunno I think it’s a fun season with some nice stories in it and I think it should get more love because it’s always sort of overlooked.

I think my least favorite thing on the internet is how quick people are to call characters toxic just because they don't like them.

There are works which are not [genre] but works made that have read a lot of [genre]. YJ is not an anime but it is a cartoon that has watched a lot of anime. MTMTE is not a comedy but it is a space opera that has watched a lot of sitcoms. I’d like to learn the term for a work that is deep in conversation with a genre without belonging to that genre even as a hybrid. Specifically works that address, lampshade, satirize, employ genre signposts without obeying genre conventions.

#or another example. oofuri is a sports manga and it is also a bl and that’s perfectly fine #ao no flag is a romance and is not a bl despite hitting a lot of the bl tropes. it is a manga that expects you to know what a bl looks like #and it consciously evades that classification. the resolutions it chooses and the framing it uses aren’t right. aren’t the same #MTMTE is comic (hah) but unlike a true comedy the resolution never comes from irony or fun or a twist #discworld is a deadly serious fantasy AND a pure comedy because every book’s resolution is a trick of irony and deception. #each book is a 400 page joke that ends with a hell of a punchline. #MTMTE on the other hand resolves its arcs in a very straightforward way #there’s not necessarily a gotcha or a ‘you thought!’ even the plot twists are an act of drama rather than cleverness #so while MTMTE has a sense of humour it’s just a story with jokes rather than a comedy #I know I know Greek comedy blah blah in this post I’m using the modern sense of the term #kelsey rambles #or Star Wars—it’s a space western action series that has watched a lot of samurai movies (OT) and some wuxia (PT/EU)

Having heard about Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul via cultural osmosis for years, I decided to finally watch them. Given that BCS is the prequel, I figured it would be better to watch it first. Watched it, enjoyed it. Then tried watching Breaking Bad and uh. It was a very jarring shift.
