how important would you estimate the Yuffie dlc is? i’ve never gotten around to it because tbh Yuffie is my least favorite FF7 character and i bought the game prior to Integrade, but i’m worried there’s going to be something important to Rebirth in it

She's among my least faves too, but I really enjoyed it. The epilogue alone was worth it to me (it's a good 15-20 minutes long I'd say? but you can see that on youtube.

There was some really touching/sad parts, it has some great moments with Scarlet, and if you finish it I believe you can import a summon materia into rebirth. I just read that today.

Also get some more insights into Shinra I feel, and I felt like we might see a few things from it make an appearance later.

Also if you're into Dirge of Cerberus, like the last half of the second chapter is HEAVILY influenced by that game. It also adds an optional challenge boss from Dirge to remake chapter..17 I think. In one of the battle simulators.

OH! the after credit's scene is...uh...I feel is very important. But only worth it when combined with the above.

I'm glad I finally did it anyway. I picked it up on sale like last year I think? lol

Crisis Core Reunion’s Ending and SE’s nod to a certain FF7 Reborn theory

Being someone who hasn’t played the original Crisis Core when it came out but waaay later (2021) after discovering FF7 for the first time, it’s needless to say I became obsessed with FF7 lore and I love Zack so much it’s not physically healthy (I want to give him all the pets cause he’s such a good boy). But after seeing Crisis Core Reunion, which dropped a few days ago, didn’t really change the ending to the original Crisis Core as some fans anticipated, I decided to talk a little about one little theory I saw on YouTube regarding where FF7 Rebirth and the third part of FF7 Remake could go. This is not my theory, ofc.

Basically, after seeing Zack appear in those three little scenes near the end of FF7 Remake, a lot of fans jumped to the conclusion that SE actually kept Zack alive for some reason. One side of the fanbase was furious about this because they feared this might further ruin the integrity of FF7 story, but the other side theorized that they did it so the new fans can connect with Zack the same way old fans did back when original Crisis Core dropped. But then Integrade (Yuffie DLC) dropped last summer and it got even more people speculating after seeing Zack in one of the epilogue scenes of the said DLC. But this particular scene gave birth to one very interesting theory in which I personally believe.

If we remember the scene at the end of Integrade, it seems like Zack came to see Aerith in the church where they initially met, but inside he finds people who seem to be sad/mourning/crying for some reason. Many people also noticed the detail of Zack literally coming out from the light which was outside. And the theory on that goes as follows: Zack is still dead in Remake/Rebirth universe DESPITE the scene we saw at the end of Remake. Let me paint you a picture why: the people we saw crying in Aerith’s church are all from the Sector 8′s upper plate, particularly from the time when the reactor blew up at the beginning of Remake (I know this for a fact because a kid with beret on was driving a bike in the opening scene of the Remake and then we see him crying in Aerith’s church in Integrade). Some people were saying those are dead people from the plate collapse, but if you look closely, majority of those people seem to wear fancy clothes and have been see on the upper plate of Sector 8 BEFORE the reactor exploded, leading to the conclusion that all people we see in Aerith’s church perished during that very early incident. And it seems that at this moment, when Zack sees all these people in the church, he finally realized he had passed on into the lifestream. It maybe seemed as a peaceful passing at the very end of Crisis Core, but Zack’s initial confusion may stem from him suddenly being pulled into the lifestream like this.

And so, knowing that he had just encountered the souls of people that had perished in both explosions of reactors AND plate collapse, we know Zack is dead and in the lifestream. But also, from Advent Children, we know he’s also considered a protector/guardian of the planet just like Aerith. And so the theory presented this possible scenario: whilst Cloud and the gang are trying to stop Sephiroth’s new plans up in the world of the living, Zack will have the role of helping these trapped souls go back to the lifestream. Sephiroth’s new goals are mysterious and the fact he destroyed Destiny itself caused a lot of cracks in the lifestream which caused souls to be trapped and mournful. Since Zack is one of two guardians of the planet, it’s possible we’ll see his adventure in the lifestream co-exist and go parallel to what Cloud and others are doing in the living world, which will make people connect with him again. There may even be a possibility of Zack somehow aiding the gang from the lifestream.

So, I’m not surprised SE didn’t change the ending to Crisis Core Reunion and I see it as a clear nod to this very theory: Zack is dead still, but that doesn’t mean his job in the story is over, especially with all the new circumstances surrounding FF7 Remake/Rebirth. We haven’t seen the last of him, but his adventure will definitely show him in the new light and the one which will make us appreciate him even more than before.

Final Fantasy | 7 Rebirth: Reveal Trailer  :: So they have 5 FF projects on the go, we have to wait another year for part 2 of the FF7 remake, and we HAVE to continue it on a different console. That’s a lot to take in... I really don’t want to shell out MORE for a PS5 and THEN FF7 Remake: Integrade, and THEN Rebirth but...I’ll probably do it eventually.  I bought my PS4 for two games; Death Stranding and FF7 Remake. Remake was amazing, not what I expected but I still loved it. Would I buy a whole new console for the sequel? No. Would I wait until that console is on sale to do it? Yes.  ...will I probably have to wait until the PS-friggin-6 is out to THAT...yeah probably.

i'm less excited about ff7rebirth than i woulda expected.

maybe bc it feels like it's taking forever? maybe bc they keep making other remakes and sidegames that NOBODY asked for? maybe it was how integrade felt like i was manipulated into buying the same game twice?

i AM excited. i'm happy i'll be able to play ff7ri on my steamdeck easily. i'm glad i was right and it's gonna be split between three games (it was obvious). but idk dude lol.

man whatever. i'll just say what other fans seem afraid to say: if the original ff7 was "the matrix", the remakes are closer to "matrix resurrections". i'm not gonna pretend that these semi-mediocre games were worth waiting 20+ years for. the remakes are only as exciting as they are because our expectations of 2020s square are insanely low.

ALSO having seen the gameplay of rebirth, i kinda don't think it's gonna be open world like ppl want. shit has "hallways" written all over it. i hope i'm wrong tho.

So you played some ffvii intermission or Integrade as well? Damn I had a feeling Sonon would die too freaking Square 😡. However someone pointed out he technically got taken by Nero.. he could still be alive down the line? Yuffie Sonon gameplay was slick asf!!! I beaten Weiss and Ultimate Weapon 2.0 those fights were lit!! But damn did I die a lot.. especially in hard mode I got WRECKED by Weiss and Nero until I finally found a pattern that allowed me to beat them

Hell yeah! I just played the Intermission since I had played the Part 1 of the Remake last year when it came out. Though I did just start up another playthrough of Part 1 cause I never finished getting all the trophies and I want to do that.

Right! Like not even 5 minutes after his introduction, I just kind of fell in love with him. Then I had the 'Oh god. They purposely made me love you just to take you away from me' moment. We were fools! We knew he was going to die and they stole him from us.

Oh I definitely agree. His 'death' was by far one of the saddest things I've seen but I don't think he's gone. I was actually talking to friend about that last night. Sonon's body didn't disappear like the rest of Nero's victims that were shown. So he may come back. We may have to fight against him later on down the road and either experience his death all over again or rescue him (I'm hoping for the later. I really enjoyed his character...but SE does love there tragic shit)

Wooo, congrats! Man, I haven't played through the game in Hard Mode yet. I'm actually pretty terrified to do so. I enjoy gaming but I've never been super hardcore. So I usually just skip hard modes and play normal modes (which even then I can get my ass handed to me because I hate dodging things.) BUT I love the FF7 games so much. It's probably my favorite game series of all time. So I really want to make the effort to actually do Hard mode this time of round. I want to actually Platinum it. (But seriously games, please...please stop making completing a game in hard mode one of the dame trophies >.>)

over a year has passed since it came out and i still have so many issues with ff7 remake. no i haven’t gotten less salty about it. i think the meta time travel/multiple timelines whatever plot they’ve added is soooo dumb and unnecessary, the original works just fine without it. i’m not a purist, i’m ok with story expansions and changes but ff7 never needed the characters to fight against… fate ghosts. what the fuck.

and yet when i see screenshots from integrade i can’t help but feel this immense tug in my chest, this ache. i can’t explain it. i’m still so sentimental towards ff7’s characters and world, even if i think the remake is going to be a narrative mess going forward and inevitably devolve into even more anime nonsense and over the top melodrama.

still after everything, I STILL CARE ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS SO MUCH, I WANNA JUMP INTO THE SCREEN AND SAVE THEM FROM THE GOD-AWFUL WRITING AAAAAA
