Prompt #10: Extra Credit/Free Choice.
I've named my chocobo Chrysanthemum,
And I want to compose her an anthem chum,
But it's hard to make rhyme,
So I'm finding that I'm,
So desperate for words I might ransom some.
Tumblr media
Practically unrhymable silliness. You can blame @pinxli for putting me up to trying to rhyme bloody "Chrysanthemum"! Never let it be said I back down from a challenge, although judging by this nonsense, I probably should have done!

FFXIV Write Prompt 26 Last:
Endwalker spoilers ahead. Several journal entries from Stephanivien's Journal.
Tumblr media
5th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
She did it. She truly defeated the beast that was going to kill us all. The final days had ended. However, this victory feels so hollow. When the Scions came back from the edge of the universe they were carrying her mangled body.
They did the best that they could to keep her alive until they came home. I couldn’t see much of her at the time as they rushed her to the medical circuit in Labyrinthos. I haven’t seen her since.
Ser Estinien came to me once he dropped Iris off. He seemed like he wanted to assured me that she will be alright. I’m not so sure about it. She looked to be in a horrible state. My prospectometer also wasn’t quite picking up on her survival. My hope that this isn’t the last I see of her.
7th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
The chirurgeons had inform me that they had stabilize her condition. At least enough that she wouldn’t bleed out. She however, had woken up since coming under their care. They want to keep an eye on her without any visitors. At least for a few days.
I still haven’t seen her since they came back. I worry for her. So much so that I can’t even think about how the Manufactory is doing. Nor how my family is doing in Ishgard. The only thing on my mind is how well she will be.
10th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
The chirurgeons are still refusing any visitors for Iris. To make matters worse, her parents are also here. Her mother seemed nice. However, her father seems to be blaming me as well as the other Scions for what happened before storming off towards where she was being held. This was a horrible way to meet them. To be accused of sending my lover to her death.
11th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
I was able to finally see her! Her father allowed me to go visit her once he understood who I was and who I was to her. He doesn’t seem to be a bad guy, just someone who wants to protect his family, especially Iris. I’m thankful to her mother for helping me clear that up with him.
While I was joyful that I was able to see her, I wasn’t to happy to see her in that state. She was all stitched up and hooked up to all sorts of gizmos. I’d be more curious about them but I currently couldn’t care less. At least she was breathing. If she ever makes it out of this, I’ll make sure that she will be taken care of.
14th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
I haven’t wrote in a while. My focus has been on Iris. There hasn’t much improvement in her condition the last few days.
I been by her side since I’ve been able visit her. The others are concerned for me. They at least bring me food just so I don’t starve myself in my depression. I’m not sure what else I can do while she is like this.
17th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
The chirurgeons told me the grim prognosis. They believe that it’s unlikely that she will ever wake from these injuries. They think the best thing is disconnect her from all the machines that she had been hooked up to. They plan on waiting through tomorrow before disconnecting her just in hopes that they are wrong.
Everyone is devastated by the news. Her parents most of all. The two had left to grieve on their own. I hadn’t seen them since the news broke. I can’t say I blame them. After all, they are losing their only daughter.
18th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
Well, they did it. They disconnected her from everything. She’s still breathing but it will only be a matter of time before she stops. I feel truly lost. I’ve been calling out to her in hopes that she might hear me and wake up. There isn’t much more I can do at this point. I hate feeling helpless in this case.
19th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon, Year 3 of the Seventh Astral Era
She finally woke up! She’s weak and only spoke a few words to me before she fell back asleep. The chirurgeons were shocked by what happened. After I informed them what happened they started to observe her again. She’s been waking up every few hours, still weak. They have been feeding her in hopes that helps bring up her strength. She has a long road ahead her.
They have been discussing on what her parents want to do with her while she is recovering. I’m hoping to get her parents ear and offer my support with whatever they ultimately decide on. I’m half the mind to offer space at the manor and have my staff to help her out once she is cleared to leave here. Assuming her parents are good with me doing that.
However, I’m just grateful that she is finally awake at last.

唯 【 wéi 】 so·le adjective
being the only one having no companion : ALONE
Tumblr media
I grieve for you.
I draw my anger and hold it tight until my shoulders hurt and the pain sweeps over every thread of flesh in my body to burn the entire tapestry away.
My fingers peel and bleed trying to keep their grip on the rage contained between each knuckle ready to be unleashed if only I could find something — someone — to take it.
I feel the wetness in my teeth become smoke when they touch the air and rising upward to rob me of my senses, my eyes overflowing to force the taste back down between my lips like salt and bile that needs to be swallowed before I drown on it.
I wish you were here to taste it with me because maybe then I would know the sweetness buried somewhere among the ashes.
I will find you — another moment longer on this star without the simple comfort of knowing you too exist will break me into amber and bone.
I cannot be the last one left.

FFXIVwrite2023 1. Envoy
Character: Hien Rijin, Y'zel Tia, Natsu Obinata Expansion: Endwalker Rating: T Notes: N/A
Tumblr media
"Shun. Do you promise to always love me?"
"As long as the Kami will me to draw breath and beyond, Little Cat."
Hien inhaled a moment, eyes shut. Through the revolution that followed, the restoration efforts of Doma, and his part in the Final Days, the memory of his time with Y'zel remained fresh, as if it were the day before. The feeling of the other's fangs gently raking up his neck, claws down his back, and warmth of their often desperate union. The taste of his tongue against his own. Smelling their campfire lingering in the Miqo'te's hair when they awoke. Their voice seeming to hesitate after saying his name when not calling out properly in a fit of passion. The way his fair skin would seem to glow lightly in the dark and never burn no matter how much the sun bore down on them. And of course his wide blue searching eyes always upon him.
"Don't move. I just want you with me for as long as possible," Y'zel's voice panted, hand coming to touch his cheek.
Hien rested his palm where the memory had laid their hand. Opening his eyes, he let out a sigh then looked up to his attendant, giving a nod to let his visitor in. He held his breath as the doors opened. No pink-haired woman entered. Neither a Miqo'te. Instead, a young Auri woman wandered in, crushing the small flicker of hope for a reunion with his missing husband.
He hid his disappointment, for the moment, in hopes of some sort of revelation. Stiffening, he looked upon the young woman as she bowed, lowering his head a touch as well.
"Welcome. I am Hien Rijin of Doma," he greeted, "If I'm not mistaken, you are claiming to be the younger sister of the Emporer Consort. I'm afraid I do not see any earthly possibility of that."
"Yes, I understand why you might think that. I am Natsu Obinata, Daughter of Raiden Obinata…," she answered, keeping herself bowed, "Who, if I have my sources right, raised Y'zel Tia into adulthood."
Hien's heart skipped a beat. Forgetting himself he got up then kneeled in front of her, taking the girl's hands in his, long digits grazing her bare wrist, "Then you come with news? Where is he? What happened to him!?"
Natsu was taken aback by the man's desperation, but her expression soon vacated to a stillness he'd only seen on those with the gift of the Echo. She soon jerked her hand from his, falling backward with her face flushed, breathing ragged.
"Are you okay? Are you by chance one who has the Blessings of light," he asked, reaching out to help her upright.
"Please don't touch me," she requested firmly, moving to sit up on her knees, "Yes, I have heard the Mother Crystal's call. At a touch, I can relive moments through the eyes of others. Hear their thoughts, know their feelings. It's an empathetic and sensory overload" she answered, shivering.
Hien gave the girl a tatami mat's worth of space, moving to sit on his knees opposite of her. Natsu brushed her hair back then shook her head.
"I am here because I found his name on your family registry in my search for him. I've only had glimpses of him though the Echo…including yours just now. I was hoping that you might know where he is so that I might know who my father really was. It seems, you too, do not know his whereabouts."
Hien hung his head, "He came to be my side more than a year's time ago. I had sent him away to Hingashi to seek a means to contact his family about our union so that they would not worry. He did not return and I had a duty to the people of the Mol tribe and Doma to fulfill. It has been so long, I have come to fear the worst and I have not the luxury of using Doma's limited resources to pursue him."
"But is he not the Emporer Consort?"
"Doma was still under occupation and the people did not witness a coronation nor do many even know of my taking a partner. His name was added for my benefit. So that I never forget…and can assure myself it was real."
Natsu shook her head, "From the brief glimpse I got, it was. I'm sorry. My presence here has upset you. Both of us seem to have held hopes the other might know his location. My destination will be Eorzea then. I am certain he lives and is there. I will…tell him that you are looking for him. When I figure out how to get there and where he is…"
Hien sat up. "You're sure he lives," he asked before taking a breath, "If that really is true, then I would ask a favour. Please, I ask not as the Emporer of Doma, but as the one who loves Y'zel, bring him a letter as my envoy. At the very least I can assist you in getting to your destination."
Natsu blinked in surprise as the Emporer lowered himself, "Your highness!?"
"Please."
The girl stood, nodding as the man looked up to her, "Of course. In a roundabout way we are family if you think about it."
"I suppose we are," Hien answered, giving her a soft smile, "You are welcome to stay here as my guest as I prepare my letter and a means of travel for you. I'll have someone fetch you when it's dinner time. I hope you like meat."
"Thank you," Natsu said, bowing as the Emporer stood and smiled.
Hien took his leave, letting his apparent sister-in-law move about the building as she pleased with his blessing. Once out of sight, he leaned against a post, holding his chest as the emotional gravity started to burrow deep into his heart. His mind, for the briefest of moments, flashed Y'zel's face, and he wept.

Prompt #1: Envoy
Golden leporine ears, tipped with silvery white, twitched as the sound of birdsong and rustling leaves filled them. The trickling water glittered in the sunlight as it flowed gently down the waterfalls and into the pool.
Her leather boots were silent upon the round wood steps under them. Her blue eyes glanced over the beautiful purple lotuses, remembering how fond of them she'd been the first time she'd entered this place.
Then she looked up, azure meeting brilliant green as she gazed at the Elder Seedseer, surrounded by all her guards. Hope dimmed as she walked closer.
For, once again, there was no recognition in those eyes.
I know you... But you no longer know me.

Prompt #4: Off the Hook
Tumblr media
Characters: Hemlocke
Synopsis: Hemlocke's inner musing on having been born half vampire/ becoming a vampire. Gnawing fears that he keeps to himself.
Setting: N/A
-------------
Immortality – both a blessing and a curse. Creatures that stalked the night forever to prey on the blood of the unsuspecting. The notion itself would have once amused me with the thought such was no more real than the fairytales I used to read. A firm denial had set in my mind even as my heart began to waver with an inner knowing that I was altogether something unnatural.
The Deepeye I befriended so unknowingly as a child. This skin that never knew scars even if it should bear many, an agility that few could match. So many pondered over my being as if I’d made a deal with devils themselves. Who could blame them? How naive to think I’d been born anew from the ashes of blood and fire that ripped away the shackles of nobility that fateful day in Dravania.
The fruits of my labor lead me onward to the Ruins of Mhach, picking up the breadcrumbs that lead me to ‘him’. If only I had moved past the desire for bloody vengeance, but there was no getting off the hook once I sought out the depths of the abyss this vampire, my father, had created. A palpable sense of rage filled my senses and then nothing but the cold grip of darkness. I awoke to a gnawing sense of hunger that felt like an inferno awakened in my very core, spiraling out along delicate nerve endings in ceaseless punishing waves.
This was to become my new constant companion, one that I must control at all costs. Fear keeps me from giving in to the embrace that calls out to me, whispering sweet nothing and promises to be rid of my pain if only I indulged this new instinct. I fear the man I would become..the monster. All this kept hidden behind the amiable smile of a gentleman.

FFXIVwrite 2023 - 01 Envoy
It was a peaceful night at the home atop the hill in the Lavender Beds. The fire-pit crackled, crickets chirped over the sound of the waterfalls in the distance. Thyn'a sat alone in her yard, the sounds of her quill scratching into paper as she wrote the only evidence of her presence there.
She was taking a break from adventuring, and decided to recount bits of her journey into a diary, and tonight's memories were of one of her very excursions with the scions.
Meeting the Sylphs of the Twelveswood had been an eye opening experience for Thyn'a Sindyrl.
Having been tasked by Minfilia with winning the Sylphs favor, and having been asked by the Serpent Commander himself to ascertain their intentions with their Primal, to the East Shroud Thyn'a traveled to treat with the Beast Tribe.
Lyse, still known to her as Yda at the time, had described them to her as floating Gysahl greens, and Thyn'a had to admit they did indeed look the part.
After meeting with the people of Hawthorne Hut, and doing a few menial tasks to obtain an offering for the Sylphs, milkroot, Thyn'a found herself in Little Solace, before a Sylph of the name of Komuxio.
Attempting to make a good impression with the intermediary, Thyn'a was all smiles as she introduced herself to the Sylph. He was so small, no bigger than a child's doll, with little shining black beady eyes. Thyn'a inwardly thought he was incredibly cute but found herself taken aback when the Sylph bade her to leave.
"Walking one is not familiar to this one. This one does not trust strange walking ones. Strange dancing ones might be a different story, but this one expects no such thing. Walking one should go home, and leave this one be."
Thyn'a blinked once, then twice, but she new what she had to do. She was full glad that Yda and Papalymo had yet to show. She straightened her back and poised her arms to the side, skipping to a rhythm all her own. She was never much of a dancer, but all the Roegadyn children in her village learned the merry little jig.
Thyn'a begged Komuxio's forgiveness for the rudeness after the dance and presented him with the milkroot that Rolfe Hawthorne had wrapped for her. She was relieved to see the sylphs suspicions melt away with the simple gesture.
It was right after presenting Komuxio with the message she had for the Sylph elders that Yda and Papalymo walked up.
"Hello there! We're envoys from Gridania, and we're here to treat with your people!" Yda exclaimed as enthusiastically as ever.
"Aye. We come to pay our respects to your elder, and to learn from him more of your Lord Ramuh." Papalymo added as serious as she had been in her introductions.
Thyn'a wasn't surprised at all when they were turned away for the lack of a dance.

Prompt #2: Bark
Note – Of dog type mounts and tomestone farming. EndWalker spoiler technically from Character POV
Resting under a maple tree a golden dog slept under the shade, flanked by the house and waterfall this little backyard provided some amount of privacy and peace.
The aether in the air wavered as one hear the sound of the house owner teleporting into the front yard Unfamiliar footsteps alerted the golden dog to roused from his napping spot and padded the way to the front of the house.
Wisteria curtains parted for the golden dog only for it to be met by the golden gaze of a large vulpine creature of white fur cloaked with red flames. Somewhat larger than the hoarhound that followed his caretaker if only in fluff and tails. His petite caretaker hopped off the large Vulpine.
The golden dog titled his head a little and looked at the Miqo’te in askance and gave her a little huff. “What?” The golden dog didn’t answer, he merely turned his gaze to the large vixen. She was as amused as he was about their Miqo’te companion’s eccentricities. “You two are talking about me aren’t you?” Hylnyan said in annoyance. The two fantastical creatures merely replied her with a non-committal huff and padded their way to the back of the little backyard.

Prompt #28: Blunt.
I once tried a dalliance with Jacke,
But it turned out I don't have the knack,
He said "I'll be blunt,
You're no good at the front,
So perhaps you should try round the back?"

Absolutely innocent and wholesome silliness.

FFXIV Write Prompt 30 Amity:
“I’m shocked that you wanted to do this Taturu.” The elezen and the lalafellin were out in the Lower La Noscea region. Taturu, feeling useless with just being the coin keeper for the Scions, thought of take up summoning as a means to help aid the group of adventurers. However, she wasn’t so sure about the whole ordeal. She had never once took up fighting in her life.
She was however grateful that her friend, the Warrior of Light was willing to take up summoning just so she would feel more confident. “Of course Iris. It shouldn’t be too hard.” The two continued their destination. Once they got there they decided to summon their carbuncles.
Taturu started to summon her’s first. She placed a bit of her aether over the geometries in the grimore. As soon as the spell was channeled, she then casted it to make a chubby and cute carbuncle appear before them. It looked at the lalafell with confusion, as though it was unsure if this was the one that summon him. His nose twitch before choosing to wondering off.
“Wait, come back here.” She called out to him. The carbuncle continued to ignore her went to sit by the bank of the river. Taturu sighed. “I…I don’t think that was supposed to happened.” Her shoulders went slumped.
Not to discourage her friend, Iris tried summoning her own carbuncle. She placed her aether over the geometries in her own grimore. She casted to produce the carbuncle. However, unlike the typical chubby and adorable carbuncle, her’s was a lanky and filled with anxiety.
“Huh?” Iris was confused why her carbuncle looks so different. “I don’t think this is quite right. Let me try that again.” She try again and again another lanky and nervous carbuncle came before the two. It was even more unusual as the previous carbuncle is still there. The two wasn’t quite sure what to make of the situation but they figure they were in over heads with this whole summoning business.

墳墓 【 fénmù 】 gra·ve noun
broadly : a burial place
Tumblr media
Tiny, prickly little talons dig shallow marks into the snow. They scratch, but no images take shape. At the center of the gentle mound that rises from the icy river like the smallest facsimile of a mountain, the stone monument rests halfway buried. Its core is hollow as though something had cut away its heart, leaving behind only a vague silhouette of a -- very clearly broken -- sword.
At the base of this marker is a sparrow whose speckled feathers are dusted over in white, the fine layer of snow fine as ash upon its soft shape. It scratches away at the line where stone and snow meet, as if searching for something delicious it believes might be hidden to its beady eyes.
Downward it continues, turning the snow into a dust bath that will eventually numb its fragile body. The sword it becomes sacrifice to pulses in silent gratitude, casting a pale moon's glow upon the once barren shrine it protects. Vines of soft light sprout from an open beak and still wings upward toward the untouched hilt, enveloping it as the paladin's fingers once had.
The light hums, solemn yet curious.
Can you hear anything?
I could hear everyone.
Who is 'everyone'?
Everyone whose aether you have ever felt and tasted. Everyone who could ever miss you. Everyone who keeps you from your sleep.
I miss them, too.
I know.

FFXIV Write 2023: Prompt #2 Bark
This takes place Post-Endwalker so I'm tagging it Endwalker spoilers.
A brief story where Dianthus uses her new free time to teach her newest companion some tricks.
G'Raha tried his best to finish up today's work at the Baldesion annex out of worry for his beloved. It had only been a couple weeks since they had prevented the final days and for the first time in years Dianthus has time to herself, and she has been struggling to enjoy it.
Though when he got down the stairs to the living area of their home, his initial worries were replaced by confusion when he saw her sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace with a handful of biscuits and the glowing long haired dog she brought back from the moon.
"What are you up to, my love?" he asked.
Dianthus gave an excited smile at him, "Perfect timing! I just taught Argos a new trick!"
"A trick? Having a flying dog wasn't impressive enough?" he laughed.
"Of course not! He needs more party tricks that don't risk knocking all the paintings off the walls!" she motioned for G'Raha to come over, the speed of her speech quickening with pride of her day's work.
"Watch this," Dianthus held a biscuit in the air, gaining Argos's attention, "Speak Argos!"
At the command, he gave a polite "bwoof".
"Good boy!" she exclaimed, giving him not only his biscuit but a pat on the head.
G'Raha joined in patting the dog, "Very good boy!"
He chuckled as Dianthus moved on to teaching the dog to 'shake hands', relieved that he had no need to worry about her boredom.

Prompt #2: Bark
The white bark slid smoothly by under her fingertips as Cimarra brushed her hand across it. Gazing up at the swaying green leaves overhead and the fluffy clouds beyond them, she couldn't help but smile. The wind tugged at her hair, sending the golden and pale silver strands fluttering.
Maybe… I should see about some birch syrup while I'm here…
The Sea of Clouds was beautiful. But, somehow, she found herself missing the snow down below. With only a slight reluctance, her hand pulled away and she left the birch trees behind.
