Someone such a long time ago, he couldn't remember when or who, had compared him to the Sun. Fiery and full of life. Bang The Doldrums is THE FrUK Fall Out Boy song... Hear me out

I think of it from Arthur's perspective at Francis.

"I wrote a goodbye note in lipstick on your arm When you passed out I couldn't bring myself to call Except to call it quits"

I'm imagining Arthur and Francis in a terrible on-again-off-again situation. It's awkward. Tension is high but they're pulled back to one another continuously. Arthur has a hard time talking about their situationship, and as much as he doesn't want to, he's able to finally say something when it's time to call it quits. Also the idea of Francis owning lipstick is something I hold dear.

"Best friends, ex-friends 'til the end Better off as lovers and not the other way around Racing through the city, windows down In the back of yellow checkered cars"

I think a good way to describe FrUK is "best friends - ex-friends." Ultimately their relationship is one of enemies, frenemies, or what have you, but I like to think that their relationship overall is a rollercoaster ride. They can have good moments of clarity where they're together playing whatever drinking game. However they're also bitter enemies and the two of them are just full of spite. A constant battle of back and forth. However the middle ground is lovers. Is it better to be lovers? Better to be together and crazy for another and not the other way around? While there can be strenuous moments, maybe the good times with Francis are enough for Arthur to have a moment to be carefree.

"This city says, "Come hell or high water" Well, I'm feeling hot and wet I can't commit to a thing Be it heart or hospital"

There's a lot of tension spurred lust in this relationship. That's all I have to say about that. However I think neither of them can really commit to to the relationship, especially Arthur. I think typically he's a man who doesn't know when to give up (in a detrimental way), however with Francis, the uncertainty of allowing himself the vulnerability of being ensnared in a game of hearts is what gets him. I think to a degree, it's hard for Francis to commit in the way that there are people who could treat the both of them better. Both of them are honestly a little lost in the security of someone they've known for so long, they know so well, and who they know will just leave them hurt and broken hearted again. And yet... They're drawn back together.

"The tombstones were waiting, they were half-engraved They knew it was over, they just didn't know the date"

The tombstone references the end of their relationship. I love graveyard imagery and the notion of mortality, so that's a personal bias. Anyway, going back to the first verse about Arthur being able to call only to call it quits -- I think the uncertainty of their relationship and when this on-again-off-again game will end plays into "what is the final nail in the coffin?" questioning.

"And I cast a spell over the west to make you think of me The same way I think of you This is a love song in my own way Happily ever after below the waist"

I think taking "I cast a spell over the west" literally with the sense that England has... mage or magic abilities is a little silly, but it could work! I think it could also just refer to wit, charm, or manipulation? I like to think that with FrUK, it's a mutually obsessive relationship. Neither of them are particularly healthy about how much they think about the other. Whatever this back and forth game is what Arthur's used to. Bringing Francis down to his level is the love song? Anyway, "happily ever after below the waist" is exactly what it sounds like. Even if Arthur's called it off, they're back together again.

Better off as lovers... not the other way around

Poland or lithuania for the songs ? (⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)

Lucky for you, my Feliks and Tolys playlists are literally some of my favorites

We'll do Feliks first:

1. Out Of The Black | Royal Blood

My favorite thing with my Poland playlist is mixing edgier and harder songs with pop songs. I don't really have more of an explanation for this one, other than it's a song I really like, and I vibe with it for Feliks! "You made a fool out of me and took the skin off my back running / So don't breathe when I talk 'cause you haven't been spoken to / I've got a gun for a mouth and a bullet with your name on it."

Honestly, I think Feliks is capable of being absolutely terrifying and I wouldn't want to get on his bad side. He'd be able to put me in my place and I'd have no way of countering whatever he says.

2. Am I A Girl? | Poppy

Feliks is rather confident in who he is, but this song still makes me think of him. "Please don't complicate me / I don't understand / Sometimes I'm feminine / Sometimes I'm masculine" and "What does that even mean? / I'm somewhere in between"

3. I Am The Fire | Halestorm

I also associate this song with Hungary, but I also really like it for Poland. Powerful and confident Feliks... "I am the one / I've been waiting for / Screaming like a siren / Alive, and burning brighter / I am the fire"

Tolys:

1. still feel. | half•alive

This is the very first song on my Lithuania playlist. I think Tolys is a pessimist and struggles with the woes of the day to day, but I love to think that he still has hope. He has things to ground him. It's not easy, but he does it.

Also this song is super snazzy and I can't describe it, but it gives me an out of body feeling that really makes me want to draw. Vibrating like a sack of bees.

Anyway, despite it all, he's here. He's still alive. And sometimes, that's all you can ask for.

2. Alchemist | Good Kid

Similar feelings about this song to the one above. Supposedly this song???? Is about Full Metal Alchemist?

3. Drive | Incubus

Realizing now that a lot of my Tolys songs have to do with finding hope in uncertainty??? Not that I'm complaining -- It's how I connect to him and what drove a lot of his playlist

Hetalia Character Theme Songs - Playlist

I am living in 2014, man. My friends and I have also been working on our own version of this, which I will eventually post, but I'm warning you now that some of the songs here and there will overlap!

I stuck to characters I grew up knowing decently,,, okay and have a decent idea of how others characterized them through song. Some songs are based more on canon, others fanon, and some are... I can't explain. Vibes??

I'm also trying to avoid songs I saw overused for characters in the 2010-2016 era of theme song videos. Which means no "Fairytale" by Alexander Rybak for Norway and no "Viva la Vida" for England.

Admittedly my Matthew playlist is a bit shakey, but I want to expand. I haven't quite nailed down what his auditory aesthetic is to me so I've been relying a bit more on lyrics than I usually would. Here's the ones on the playlist I think best fit him.

1. Tip Toes | half•alive

Okay I think this is the one song that I'm back-tracking with and saying this is Mattie's audio aesthetic to me. Rock, potential for intensity, but on the down low.

I don't think Matthew is as prideful as other characters (cough Alfred cough Francis cough Arthur), but he still bears some pride. I don't think it's all consuming, but lyrics like "Will I always know this divide? Living most of this war inside" make me think of his internal struggle at who to be. Not that he's a mess, but he has to choose between competing with the successes of others while also staying true to who he is. He does balance and I think out of most (if not all) of the characters, he's the most stable and in tune with himself, though he may not have always been. There is... potential to emotionally torment this man (looking at YOU specifically, HB).

2. Identity | grandson

Oops! More Matthew identity crisis... I mean it when I say that I think Mattie is chill, confident in himself, and stable, but I think it took a lot of self evaluation to get himself there.

3. C'est la vie | Weathers

I'm between thinking Matthew prepares for things that could go wrong or just rolling with the punches. I think that things don't go his way and he doesn't get the support he needs, but he makes do. He's had to pull himself together. Such is life!
