The Writing Games: Final Task
Include
Words: Mugger, Notes, Bird, Beast, Post, Owl
The phrase: “Be a veterinarian for dragons they said. It’ll be fun they said.”
One Metaphor: Time is a thief
One Idiom: See eye to eye
One Simile: As mad as a hatter
"Oh yeah. This is just fantastic. 'Be a veterinarian for dragons' they said. 'It'll be fun' they said."
Aoi continued to mutter under her breath as she tossed down her notes on the last round of checkups for the day. Sitting down heavily on her office chair, she closed her dark blue eyes and ran a hand through her short magenta colored hair.
The day had started off horribly due to the fact that she had to beat away a mugger right when she turned onto the street her job was located.
The guy was dressed in full black attire with a ski mask on in 87 degree weather in full daylight. After the initial shock of a stranger having the audacity to try to steal her purse in the morning , Aoi grabbed the back of their head and bent them over her knee.
As they collapsed in pain, she stepped over them and walked up to the dragon hospital she worked at, unlocking the door with a simple wave of her hand and the special incantation she created whispered under her breath. An incantation only herself and the other worker - Ryuu - were allowed to know.
This wonderful event then lead to a tiring hour of chasing the owl that brought in the morning post. One would think that the wise bird would be used to the large scaly beasts that were always around when it dropped by. Alas, that never seemed to be the case.
The afternoon was more tame which might seem unusual to those who were not used to working with dragons day in and day out. It only takes a few minutes to realize that all dragons would be more than willing to burn you alive if you try to prick it with a large needle to administer its shots. Multiply that by 30 and you could imagine the tactics that had to be thought up to avoid getting injured while trying to treat something that actually is.
The only advantage of the job was that there was a Disillusionment Charm placed over the small one-story building. So, although it seemed small, the rooms were actually large enough to create miles upon miles of the natural habitat for the scaly patients. An extra bonus was that all the roaring was distorted to the sound of dogs barking, so there were never any real noise complaints.
As she went to rest her head on her desk, she let her eyelids slide down and fell into a quick and dreamless nap; only to be awoken by a loud yell that rang through the air. Bolting back up into a sitting position, Aoi strained her ears to hear if was Ryuu shouting for help. When the only sound she heard was her breathing for several more minutes, she shook her head and laid her head back down, only to shoot up into a standing position.
The only sound she heard was her breathing..... No! What happened to the constant roars of the dragons?
Rushing to the nearest room, she threw open the door and confirmed her worst fear. The waters that normally inhabited the pregnant Chinese Horned Dragons was completely empty.
Rushing to the back of the building, she checked each of the other rooms that housed the Austrian Lindwurm that came in with a damaged tail and the Maori Marakihau with a broken wing - both missing. Throwing the back door open, she let out a long low whistle and closed her eyes.
Silently, she began to pull at each enchantment that normally surrounded the building, trying to find which one had become undone. After pulling and testing the various security spells, she found out that a new concealment one was added.
Cursing under her breath, Aoi tried to do a Reverse Spell, but instead a familiar tug on her right wrist signified that she had just been pulled into the concealed magic field.
Taking a deep breath, she opened her eyes and was met with a scene that filled her with fury. The missing dragons were chained and put into large titanium cages, muzzled with lash marks on their underbellies. The cages were surrounded by a large group of masked figures that would lash out whips dipped in what looked to be purple acid.
Without a second thought, she swirled her right hand into the shape of a funnel, calling forth a twister; while, with her left, she called forth a blade of lightning. Aiming the bottom of the twister in the direction of the closest smuggler, Aoi whipped her hand upward and slammed it down. The action translated and the swirling wind funnel landed on about five of them before it was blown apart by a rush of icy wind.
Smirking slightly, Aoi charged her left and pointed it in the direction of one of the locks and fired. Right before it could hit, it was intercepted by a stream of fire. Whipping her head to look in the direction it came from, she saw the tousled brown locks of her coworker Ryuu - coworker that was currently riding on the back of one of their patients.
"Ryuu, you must be as mad as a hatter! What are you doing?!"
With a laugh that carried through the wind, Ryuu tugged on the harness of the lapis dragon he was riding and persuaded it to go into another steep dive. Just before they could smash the group of attackers into the ground, Ryuu pulled up on the rains and the dragon shot a stream of acid into their ranks, causing them to scream in terror as it burned through their armor.
His green eyes dancing with humor, he then shot a bolt of lightning at them from the palm of his hand, ending their suffering their screams.
"We may never see eye to eye on some issues Ryuu, but even I will put aside our differences; I have to say, that was officially the best and coolest thing you have ever done. Thank you!"
Just as she was to create another charged attack, aiming to break the locks, a sinister voice spoke in her head, causing Aoi to falter her steps and freeze. It was as if the person that broke into her mind was speaking through a mouthful of nails.
"Ah. Time is a thief, my love. It's time to claim my prize and to depart."
With that, a sharp pain ripped through her head and the world turned black.

The Writing Games: Task 5
For the Writing Games Task 5. The remaining four contestants were partnered up. My partner ended up being the fantasy writer Malachi.
The words that were to be included into the story were: potion, daily, parchment, mail, and book. We were also instructed to include one metaphor. After some careful research, we decided on using the following metaphor: ‘storm of swords’. As for the story, we were able to expand on of his amazing ideas.
Here is the link to read the entry on Writer’s Club Amino since Malachi ended up being the one to post it: Task 5.

“Alright everyone, remember to study chapters 1-10 and I will see you next week for the final.”
Immediately, rustling sounded throughout the lecture hall as we all packed up and headed towards freedom. With it being study week, all of our classes were ending early in order to allow time to refill our brains with information we have not touched upon since the beginning of the semester.
Taking my time, I made sure I packed up my notes, pen and textbook as the mad rush towards the door caused a block of students. On a normal day, the room would be cleared out in a matter of seconds. Today, there must have been a huge crowd just outside the door because everyone in my class seemed to be stuck at the only exit. Seeing the situation, the professor heaved a great sigh, packed up and fiddled with some apps on his phone.
Taking a page out of his book, as I continued to wait, I threw my backpack on my back, situated myself on the desk I claimed as mine on the first week (first row, third chair from the right wall) and pulled out my phone from my back pocket.
If it was any other lecture, that meant it would be the last thing I packed up because I would use it to record what was said. Since this professor loved to go off on a tangent, I learned almost immediately that recording was a lifesaver - especially when studying for tests.
Today was a special occasion.
Since he informed us that the final was going to be questions pulled from previous tests, quizzes and homework, I made the ultimate decision to just put it on silent and kept it in my pocket. As I turned on the screen, my eyes widened in surprise on the amount of texts received from Amethyst along with about 10 missed calls from said person. I could sort of recall her telling me something that involved her "ultimate bias group" (whatever that meant) visiting the city. Since she likes to go off and daydream about the very slim chance of bumping into them, I sort of tuned her out.
Instead, I focused on the fact that my music composition class has been taking a toll on me. Since the day I admitted to Amethyst that I was starting to lean more towards Kpop, she took every opportunity to "bless my ears with the heavenly sound of her biases”.
While I found amusement in her efforts for the past couple of weeks, I only really felt a pull towards GOT7’s Choi Youngjae’s voice. There was something about it that spoke to me and, unknowingly, all my compositions were starting to become extremely…….selective.
Before, anybody was able to sing my songs. Each was written in a way that helped showcase and improve the talent of the singer. I would love to get requests from my professors to write the final song for their students’ performances. It was a great experience being requested and I felt so proud every time the singer nailed the difficult pitches. It let me learn more about composing towards a singer's particular style while still keeping true to my own.
Now, no matter who sang the songs, I felt that they were not able to really bring out the true feeling I was trying to portray. It did not matter if it was the shining star of the department or the underdog who shone on test day. Each time I heard my sings being sung, I would drift away into a daydream and think of his voice singing it. Sure, I never told any of the professors because I really wanted to keep that grade, but I just could not praise the vocals with all of my heart like I used to. There was always a small part of me that would focus on that daydream I knew would never happen.
Shaking my head to clear it of those thoughts, I turned my attention back to my phone.
Seeing the amount of received messages told me that was clearly a bad idea. Heaving a great sigh and mentally preparing myself for the overuse of capitals, I opened the conversation box and scrolled all the way up to the last message we sent each other the night before.
---
9:55 am: OMG! ______! I can't believe it!! Text me back as soon as you can!!!
(By the looks of it, she called three times around here)
9:59 am: GIRL! PICK. UP! THIS IS URGENT!!
10:00 am: Fine…you must have already turned the ringer off. Duh! Can't believe I forgot you had a 10 o'clock class. 😅😅
10:01 am: ttyl~😚
10:02 am: Forget it! Still NEED to spazz over this!
10:03 am: GOT7 IS HERE! I REPEAT GOT7 IS AT OUR CAMPUS!
(Two more call attempts)
10:07 am: I JUST got out of class and received the message on Twitter!😄 You see, BamBam sent out a tweet saying that they were going to visit a university campus while on tour. THEN HE TWEETED A PIC OF THE FRONT OF CAMPUS!! I could not believe it!
10:11 am: SO to confirm if it was true, I checked out all of the other members' social media and they have been posting nonstop about how cool the campus is! They even got RECOGNIZED by some of the professors and students!
10:13 am: I KNOW YOU THINK I WAS GONNA STALK THEM!😠 And you are KINDA right😏 I couldn't help it! I have been dying to meet them since they debuted and you KNOW JB is my bae~😎
10:16 am: Ok, so I am starting at the rec house cause I figured they would head there after the whole Student Union tour. I mean come on. As if 7 fit and good-looking guys aren't gonna want to play a game of basketball.😏
---
At this point, I decided to skip ahead and just speed read because it looked to be about a text every one to three minutes for at least an hour. As much as I love her, I did not want to have a crick in my neck because I read a one woman conversation. There were some places where a missing timestamp was found next to a call attempt. My guess would be that, at some points, she was getting fed up with typing and wanted to just talk about each detail of her 'mission' instead.
I was almost to the last text when the one above it caught my eye. Looking at the timestamp, I noticed it was 2 minutes before my class got out today.
---
11:07 am: While I was trying to walk, tweet, text/call you AND look at each notification, I actually ran into them ON THE WAY TO YOUR CLASS BUILDING! They were looking for the music building, so I told them I knew where it was at and got to walk with them! It was so hard to keep my cool the whole time. Thank the gods I am an acting major!!
11:08 am: We're outside your class right now. So excited!
---
My head shot up and I quickly turned to look back at the door. Although the crowd had died down a little bit, it was still a huge mass of bodies trying to get to freedom.
Hesitating only a second longer, I stood up on the desk and began making my way towards the door while stepping on each desk that paved my path. As I jumped off the last desk, I noticed that a fair amount of my classmates had turned their heads to see who was making all that noise in the room.
Feeling my face start to heat up from embarrassment, I took advantage of their brief break from trying to exit the room and pushed my way to the door.
 Once I was finally free of the lecture hall, I turned to the commotion outside.
The normally empty hallway was filled with students and professors surrounding a group of seven attractive men with Amethyst standing in the center. The knee length peach sundress, gladiator sandals, and light makeup matched with her beach curls hairstyle somehow complemented the outfits of each member perfectly. It was almost like I was looking at a photoshoot.
Although I stray away from her obsession with Korean dramas, I still sat through enough series with her during sleepovers to make the comparison of the scene in the hallway with one you typically see in the school themed episodes.
Laughing inwardly because I know she was trying extremely hard to hold back her excitement, I did my best to keep my expression neutral as I unknowingly approached my musical fate.

The Writing Games: Task 4
Theme: A New Start
Words to include: Beginning, End, Chapter, Closing, Hope
Setting: Takes place sometime before 1930
This entry will be set be set in 1888 during the time Jack the Ripper was at large.
Run. Run away. Get as far as possible. If he catches you, it's all over.
With each step I took my limbs began to tire. The air that filled my lungs only came out in short breaths and I tried to urge myself to go faster.
At first, it seemed like a great idea to move to London; start a new chapter in my life whilst closing the old, dark chapter that was Venice. If only I knew that Venice was just the beginning to something that was far more sinister.
Left. Left. Right. Straight. Right. Left.
As I continued to evade whoever was chasing me, I tried to distract myself from the horrendous images that were being presented in the paper. All of the victims were my age and were torn apart by a man that went by the name of Jack the Ripper. A man I was certain I knew from my kidnapping in the watery city.
Just as I was about turn another corner into a back alley, a dark figure appeared in my path. It was as if he was able to materialize out of thin air. His face was completely covered by shadow, but I was able to make out his medium build with the help of the street lamp. I was also able to notice that his left hand was hidden within his pants pocket.
Turning to go back the way I came, I found myself facing a wall instead of the familiar cobblestone path I was just running on.
My only options left: get killed or fight my way out.
Being a wealthy female in the 19th century did not exactly mean that I was learned in the arts of self defense. My mother and father, eccentric as they may be, never found a need to enroll their children into those lessons; instead, opting to send a bodyguard to accompany us while we were out.
Seeing as how I was to fend for myself at the moment and how I was already at a huge disadvantage due to the Victorian cage dress I was wearing, I could only pray I could gain the upper hand.
Just as I was about to consider kicking him with my heel or throwing it at him, he spoke.
"Hello? I seem to have lost my way. Do you think you can help me?"
Strange. I never expected his voice to sound so…..normal and.....lost. Is that how he was able to attack those women?
Not wanting to be his next victim, I decided to play the innocent game and slowly crept forward, making sure to keep my guard up.
"Hello? Miss? Can you help me?"
Again with the calm voice. What is he playing at?
Still creeping forward, I chose my words wisely while addressing him.
"Actually kind sir, I was wondering if you could help me. You see, I, too, seem to have lost my way. Do you perhaps know the way back to the square?"
The only answer that I got to my question was a single nod.
It was almost as if I could sense the change in his attitude. The only indication of movement that I saw was his hand seemed to slightly tense up in his pocket.
Without tipping him off that I saw, I breathed out a sigh of relief, smiled and started to approach him at a fast pace.
"Thank you so much," I said through my smile, now only four feet away from where he stood. "I was worried I would be stuck here all night. Please lead the way."
As soon as that sentence left my mouth, he pulled his left hand out of his pocket and I saw that he was holding a scalpel.
With only a small second to act, I charged him. The move seemed to throw him off and I was able to push past him while aiming to grab the small weapon. Of course, it was only momentary. Once he saw what I was doing, he threw his hand behind his back and pushed me up against the wall, still keeping his face masked in darkness.
Before I could shake him off, he attempted to knee me in my stomach. Not wanting to go down without a fight, I kicked out my right foot and made contact with his left shin.
The pain that must have shot up his leg caused his grip to slacken just enough for me to push him off and make another attempt for the scalpel.
Right as my fingers brushed the blade, I made eye contact with him and time seemed to freeze. My blood started to run cold and he began to laugh a laugh that made one question his sanity.
No. Please don't let this be him. Not the one who almost killed me. Not the one who made me feel the fingers of death on my skin.
Instead of fully grasping the blade, I let my fingers slip and tackled him around the middle.
The weight of the metal in my skirt was enough to help me push him off balance and we were soon falling to the floor.
-nt. -ake up Ms. Be-. Wake up.
"Wake up Ms. Bennet!"
Before I could pin the man I was stuck in a fight with, I was woken up by the voice of my handmaid. At that, the dream could only come to an end and I was once again plunged into the real world where I had no idea of who that person was or why I was dreaming about them.
"I apologize for being so rash Ms. Bennett, but I have been instructed by your mother to wake you."
Groaning, I peeled my eyes open and was met with the sight of my handmaid standing next to the open curtains. The sun had not yet risen, so the sky was just starting to transition from the deep blue of night to the light blue of day.
"It is quite alright Elizabeth. I just hope you can help me out of this bed and prepare for the day."
Shaking my head as if I was able to clear if of the after image, I got ready to face a new day of possibilities and the hope that I would never have to face the unknown man who lay behind the name Jack the Ripper.

The Writing Games: Task 3
Theme: Dreams
Words to use: Dream, Promise, Freedom, Hope, Idea, Wish
Thunk.
Thunk.
Thunk.
The arrows that flew through the air hit the bullseye of the intended target. In every direction, members of the clan were practicing their aim. Although they were all extremely gifted with the bow, practice was still necessary. If a single archer was unable to hit the middle five hundred times a day, they were sentenced to five hours of additional practice and two hours of cleaning the facilities as punishment.
Since the session started at three am, seven hours have passed and only one member was able to finish perfectly; not a single arrow missed.
She now sat against the practice room wall, her golden eyes scanning the room, watching the progress of her fellow assassins. Her once long, black hair was now dyed a dark auburn and cut into a short bop - the front longer than the back.
It’s been five years since the day Momo had to witness the death of her sister and their best friend. To this day, she still remembers the fight that ended their lives. Every night, the same dream would play behind her eyelids. The dream of how the last of her family was taken away by the hands of a friend-turned-traitor.
Since that fateful day, Momo worked towards accomplishing her one wish. Her wish to take down the one who killed her parents and turned a childhood friend into Yuki’s murderer.
Closing her eyes to the practice scene in front of her, Momo let her mind take her back to the day she joined her new ‘family’.
~~~
The day after her sister’s death, she received a letter that only consisted of a single rose carved from jade that was centered in the middle of the parchment.
When she saw what it was, she asked her current employer. The only thing she was told: “Travel east until you see the tree with leaves that were carved from jade. When you are approached by a figure in gray, follow them and they will lead you to the clan. As of now, we are no longer in need of your services. I hope you find the one you are looking for.”
Curious of how they knew what to say, Momo persistently asked. In response, they gave her a simple crimson bound book, money and food for the travel, a chestnut colored horse, and the travel bag that held her limited possessions.
With each town she passed through on her journey, she would question the locals about the rose, but every she asked would simply shrug their shoulders and try to offer her deals on what they were selling. It was during the journey that she was able to feel a small sense of freedom that was stripped away from her at a young age; and whilst she enjoyed being able to walk around and try exotic food, she knew that she would never be truly free again.
As a result, she ended up leaving each town after a single night just to avoid the temptation of that false sense of freedom. Most of her time traveling was spent riding her stead, only stopping when she knew the distance was too much and rest was necessary.
It was not until the end that Momo had to travel on foot. After traveling for six months by horseback, she pulled on the reins and brought her ride to a stop for they had reached a path that was too narrow for the horse. After jumping down, she unclipped the harness, thanked the animal for making the journey with her and let it run back the way they came.
Once it was out of sight, she turned and continued forth on a path that did not grant much space for long periods of rest; instead, it provided a fall into a dark and seemingly bottomless cavern on either side.
After a long and grueling month of balancing precariously on a narrow strip of land, Momo arrived at the tree and waited for a single figure that was supposed to be covered in gray.
~~~
“Attention!  Yu Mei has arrived.”
Within an instant, all bows were lowered and every assassin stood at attention; that is everyone , but one. Momo simply opened her eyes slowly and stared at the entrance. Just before the doors opened, she was struck with an idea.
As the large wooden doors opened, the leader of the group entered the room. Her red hood drawn over her face and  dressed in a simple black outfit, Yu Mei still exuded the air of a respected and feared leader. She was the type who did not have to show off her rank. Just her presence alone was enough to bring order back into a room - filled with chaos or not .
Pushing her hood back, she let her dark brown curls fall forward and frame her exotic features. Her eyes were the color of rose quartz and had a slight slant.
As Yu Mei scanned the practice hall, her pink eyes, sharp as an eagle, saw how only Momo did not bother to stand at attention. Scoffing under her breath at the blatant disregard for the rules, she addressed the only person who was able to pass the initiation exam without a single scratch.
“Momo, stand.”
Seeing a small flicker of surprise pass the young woman’s face, Momo slowly stood up and faced her with an undecipherable look. An almost imperceptible move had Yu Mei realize that Momo was already prepared to fight.
Letting a smirk grace her features, Yu Mei grabbed the nearest bow  and began to shoot a volley of arrows at Momo.
Within the blink of an eye, Momo drew her rapier and began cutting down arrows. When the last was cut cleanly in half, she pulled a dagger out of her left sleeve and threw it at Yu Mei.
Just as it was about to make contact, the blade was parried to the side by Yu Mei’s own blade which she had just unsheathed.
At the same moment, both women ran and engaged in a series of aggressive attacks that would have killed anybody else, but only caused the two to laugh inside at the other’s efforts. Just as a blade was about to pierce skin, it was blocked and forced back, allowing a small opening for an attack
It was one of these small openings that allowed Momo to act on the idea that she had earlier.
The moment Yu Mei blocked her last attack to the neck, Momo let the blade fall from her hand and drew out two more daggers. Catching the incoming blade between the two, she twisted her hands up and swept Yu Mei’s legs. As the leader fell, she let go of her blade, allowing Momo to toss it aside with the daggers. Placing her knees on the woman’s abdomen and chest, she pulled a short blade that was hidden on her lower back and placed it against Yu Mei’s throat.
Instead of a look of surprise, Yu Mei’s eyes conveyed a message of respect for the move that was just executed. It was that look that prompted Momo to stand and help her up.
Brushing herself off, Yu Mei addressed the only one that has ever disarmed her - during practice or on a mission.
“I am impressed. I thought I had you for a second there. Just promise to save that one for the upcoming mission against her.”
Since she was in the middle of picking up the discarded weapons, Momo paused and let the last statement sink in.
It was finally time.

The Writing Games: Task 2
Theme: Astronomy/Space
Words to use: Stars, Galaxy, At least one constellation, Meteor shower
The stars were not the only things shining that night. In fact, if one were to look up at the sky, they would most likely assume that a spontaneous meteor shower was occurring.
However, if a trained eye assisted by a telescope and studied the awe-inspiring lights, it might have seen that it was actually a peculiar collection of purple, green, and blue flashes. At the center of it all: a fight for total control of the galaxy.
---
The sounds of war filled the air from the speakers that lined the ceiling of the spaceship I was assigned to. Just fifteen minutes prior, the first enemy ship collided with our vessel and we were boarded within minutes. Before chaos erupted, the captain gave his orders over the intercom.
"This is a message for all unarmed passengers. We are currently in lockdown. Proceed to the nearest room and lock the door. The automatic advanced security measures will be activated once the door is locked. All armed passengers prepare for and engage formation One. The enemy has already declared war and has attacked the mother vessel located within the Leo constellation. While our lasers can take out many of the oncoming ships, we could not get them all. If I do not survive, remember: One species will rule and it will be the human race. We will not go down!"
Every single ally I came across on the way to the site was armed with something that was within reach. Some had knives, others steel pipes. There was only a few like me that were carrying the guns issued on the first day on board. Seeing how the ones with knives and pipes were in their sleepwear, I could only assume they were fellow soldiers that were suppose d to be taking the next shift after a few hours rest.
When we turned the corner and saw the mayhem, everything became a whirlwind of events. Those who were not sufficiently armed pulled the injured out of arm's way as I began to fire at each alien that came through. Most bullets seemed to glance off their bare skin, but I was still able to take down a handful with a careful aim.
Not long after the first explosion, a second crash sent me barreling straight into the one standing in front of me. If these aliens were human sized that would have been okay because I would have knocked this one out cold.
Instead, they were 7 feet tall, seemed to weigh 250 pounds, had seven arm and four legs, and their blue-black skin was unnaturally stretched over a strange arrangement of bones. It seemed as if all the bones in their body were reversed from their usual positions.
As a result, I ended up feeling like I hit a brick wall and slipped to the floor.
Feeling dizzy, I tried to reach for my gun that fell from my grip and ended up grabbing the enemy's phaser. Just looking at the buttons with strange runes was enough to give me a giant headache.
While I was trying to figure it out, the intercom kicked on once more and we were greeted with the sounds of fighting from the command room. When a strange war cry rang out, the one that I knocked into raised three arms and gave a sound that I could only describe as joyous.
Taking a stab that meant my captain had gone down, I saw red and attacked by jabbing the one if from of me with the barrel of the phaser I was now in possession of. With a single tap of my pointer finger on the button that would have normally been a trigger on a human gun, I ended up blasting my opponent into pieces.
Standing up, I shook off the dizziness and started shooting at all of its allies, getting prepared to turn the tide.
Once they were all down, I shouted to my comrades and we got prepared for a battle that I knew we would walk away from. The human race was going to win this war and I was going to take a legion down all by myself if I had to see that through.

The Writing Games: Task 1
Create an action piece of writing that includes the words: Tail, Cherry, Lullaby, Chicken
Sleep little birdy
Try not to fly
No one is here to see
You try
If you fall from that height
It is certain you will die
Just like when you
Lose this fight
With his long silver hair whipping in the wind and hatred painting his cerulean eyes, Hikaru began to approach Momo and I with his rapier drawn, the blade gleaming in the pale moonlight. The lullaby he sang was one that twisted the words and melody from the beloved version from our childhood.
Even now I can remember the day he betrayed us. The day that Momo and I had finally come to terms with not being able to see our parents anymore after 15 years of their presence. The day he left us and joined those who murdered them.
~~~
The pink and white petals of the cherry blossoms gently floated down to surround Momo, Hikaru and I as we lay on the grass.
This was one of the few days that we could be together since the day Momo and I lost our parents. The only things we had left were the features that we inherited: Momo with mom's long, straight black hair and dad's golden eyes whilst I had shoulder-length curls that were the same shade of copper that dad had and mom's dark violet eyes.
"Hey Hikaru, " Momo spoke up, breaking the silence, "how come you always seem so busy nowadays. I mean, Yuki and I can come over and visit you nowadays. Grandma and grandpa are great, but it's just not the same. At least you know what we always used to do with mom and dad each evening. When you sing the lullaby, it feels just like those times."
Chuckling under his breath, Hikaru sat up between us and faced us with a small smile gracing his elegant features.
"Okay, you can visit. But not tonight. I have to go somewhere."
Noting the sad, puppy dog looks we were giving him from our laid out positions, he began to laugh that sweet musical laugh he had.
"Alright, alright! How about I sing it right now?"
Nodding quickly and shooting identical smiles up at him, Hikaru shifted so that he was sitting on his knees. Gently clearing his throat, he began to sing those familiar words.
Sleep little birdy
It's time to rest
Momma is here
So don't you fret
When you go to sleep tonight
Dreams will paint the sky
But when that dream is dark
Daddy is here to hold you tight
As --
Just then, something in the distance made him cut off his singing and he abruptly stood up. With a final look at us, with eyes full of remorse, he whispered two simple words and walked around us to climb the grassy hill.
Sitting up quickly, we saw him approach a red Ferrari; the door being held open by a woman with a scarred face Momo and I could never forget. The scarred face of our parent's murderer.
~~~
Just as I struck out with my short blade, he parried the blow and managed to simultaneously push me up against the ironclad gate of the castle that Momo and I were hired at three years ago.
"Urgh!"
My head slammed into the iron and I was momentarily dazed due to the pain, unable to see him come in for the final blow.
"Yuki! Look out!!"
"What?" I managed to breathe out and looked up to see Hikaru lift his rapier one last time. Almost immediately, I called out the one secret code to Momo that I knew would end this fight. With only a split second to feel regret, I sucked in a deep breath and shouted.
"Momo, tail the chicken!"
In the corner of my eye, I saw her falter for just a second as she realized what I said. Then, her resolve hardened and she began to run towards us.
Swiftly, she pulled out her two daggers - one hidden in each combat boot - and threw one of each side of his body. As a dagger pierced his left arm, he stopped his advance towards me and blocked the second before it could deliver the same fate to his right arm.
Pulling the blade out, he let it clatter to the floor and turned his attention towards Momo. Quick to recover, she drew her own rapier and sprinted towards him. Taking a flying leap, she yelled as their blades met in a clash. Within moments, they were dancing around each other, trying to strike the other down but failing as the attempt was continuously blocked.
At one point, I saw Momo attempt to sweep his leg, but he jumped before her heel made contact with the back of his leg. As a rebuttal, he swung down and tried to cut her arm, but she recovered and blocked with the hilt of her blade.
With their attention focused on killing each other, I took the time to pick up the discarded dagger and silently stalked into a position three meters away from the fight. Making sure his back towards me, I got ready to do my final move.
Pulling my hair up into a ponytail, I tied it off with a teal ribbon that I always carried in my pocket. Then, I tucked the dagger, hilt first, up my right sleeve, laying the blade flat against my wrist. Finally, I picked up the hilt of my short blade so that it was 180 degrees and was parallel with my right forearm.
After getting ready, I turned my attention back towards the fight and noticed that they each got a few slashes in and were starting to become more animalistic with their attacks. Taking my final deep breath, sprinted to a spot that put me right behind Momo.
"Reverse!"
With that single word, Momo parried Hikaru's attack, pushed him back and bent forward. As I got a few inches away from her, I jumped and pushed off her back whilst twisting my torso to the right. As I fell towards Hikaru, I allowed my momentum to twist to the left and cut him deep into his chest. At the same moment, I felt his blade push up into my abdomen. Coughing up blood, I let my hand slip from the hilt and flicked my wrist so the dagger could slid into my palm.
With the last of my strength, I stretched up and impaled his throat. Immediately, I felt his body go rigid as the blade twisted even further up my abdomen. When he drew his last breath, his eyes met mine and I saw the light fade slowly away.
As my vision blurred, I thought back to the last words he said to us and tried to say them loud enough for Momo to hear.
"I'm sorry."

Abandoned Fortune Excerpt
A flash of silver made its way towards my head, but I was able to parry the blow at the last second.
Grunting, I pushed my attacker back and immediately took the offense. With each swing, I pushed him closer and closer to the edge. Just I was about to make my final blow, I felt a searing pain as one of his allies left a deep cut from my right shoulder down to my left hip.
Falling to my knees, I made sure to deliver a finishing blow to the man in front of me. The swing of my blade was not strong enough to push him off the black rotting deck we were fighting on, but I was still able to hit him exactly where I wanted.
A deep gash was left over his heart and, as his blood fell, he swayed in place before crumpling into the wood underneath our feet.
With my sword clattering to the ground, I fell to my right side and watched as my blood joined his on the decaying surface. Although the wrecked ship was not moving with the push of the waves, it still seemed as if I was swaying from side to side. The last thing I saw as I let myself drift away was the empty eyes of the man who was once my most trusted advisor; the one who suddenly betrayed me and chased me across the seven seas on an order to kill me.
An order executed by my family.

Last Letter
My love,
         If this letter reaches you late, I just want you to know I’m sorry. I never meant for things to turn out the way they did. Everything just seemed to fall apart. The plan was gone once we realized that it was too late for us to make it out alive. I tried to get everyone to safety, but———
         I loved you more than anything. I loved how your short red hair would cover your face when you leaned over, your calculating stormy gray eyes, your beautiful smile, and the way you would call out to me. What I loved most of all was your singing voice.
         I know it may be hard for you, but I want you to continue to live without me. Do not become tied down because of the memory of me. Find love once more. Marry a great guy, have kids, and settle down. The only thing I ask for is for you to smile and laugh each day. Create many precious memories. When we met again in heaven, I want to see you with a smile on your face.
        Please forgive me. Even though it may be too late, please, please forgive me. And remember that your name is as beautiful and as unique as you are. Do not forget that.
        I will always watch over you.
         Good bye.
        The letter fluttered towards the floor. Amaryllis sank into the chair she had been sitting in before she received the letter. Covering her mouth, she tried to fight back a sob, but she couldn’t keep it in. Letting the tears fall from her face, Amaryllis looked at the letter and cried her heart out.
        “Why! Why! Why did you have to leave?! Please come back!! Please! Don’t leave me here alone! I need you!!!!” she screamed. Her heart was broken and the one person who could heal it was gone. Forever.
        After many hours, the sobs subsided. Slowly standing up, Amaryllis walked out the room and went out the back door. She stood in the garden of her home. Normally, the scents of the flora could help her collect her thoughts, but not this time. This time, nothing could heal her from the grief.
        No longer will she be able to call out his name and hear his voice in reply. No longer will she be able to look deeply into his green eyes. No longer will he roar with laughter at the jokes they shared. No longer will she feel the atmosphere change because of the happiness he seemed to radiate.
         She never prepared for the moment he would be stripped back from her life. All she could do now was stand there, in the garden they created together.

Don’t Forget
Don’t forget
That promise you made to me when we were young
Don’t forget
The day you gave me my favorite flower; a magnolia
Don’t forget
How you would hold me gently in your arms when I was sad
Don’t forget
That summer eve when we confessed to each other
Don’t forget
The feel of my hand in yours
Don’t forget
The sweet kisses we shared
Don’t forget
When everything seemed fine
Don’t forget
How our lives changed on that day
Don’t forget
Your memory of me.

Our Summer - Chapter 1
A ray of sunlight streams through the living room window and hits me in the face. Scrunching up my face, I turn to the right and slowly open my eyes. Allowing my vision to adjust, it was a moment later that I realize I was half an inch away from hitting my head on the leg of the coffee table.
Quickly, I sit up and immediately regret the decision as pain shot up my back. As I try to stretch and massage the knots out of my back, I carefully get up and look around the room.
On the coffee table, my project and study materials were overlapping with one another. The only space that was not overrun with papers and writing materials was occupied by my laptop. Since it had been open for a while, the screensaver was going through a collection photos containing my family and favorite artists. The cord to charge the laptop was snaking its way down the table and into the nearest power strip. Next to the table, my school bags were wide open. The first one was filled with two out of my five textbooks crammed next to an open pencil case and three notebooks. The second one was occupied with my binder and the protective sleeve for my laptop.
Between the table and the couch, there were three cushions. On one my English textbook was open and marked to a specific spot on the page. The other two were laid out and had imprints from when I was laying down on them.
Once my back felt like it was somewhat back to normal, I reach for my phone that was peeking out of the pile of papers on the table. Turning it on, I nearly freak out because of two things:
It was at 25% and
I only had 45 minutes to clean up and get to my first class!
At a speed that I never accomplished before in my life, I shoved everything in my bags, set my phone to airplane mode while it charged, started the teapot and ran to the bathroom to get ready.
By the time I was done with my morning routine, the teapot was whistling. Running back to the kitchen, I turn off the stove and pour the hot water into my favorite thermos. Throwing in a few packets of hot chocolate and a little bit of mint creamer, I stir the mix with a spoon and put the top on.
While taking a quick sip from my thermos, I check the time on my phone. I had 25 minutes left, so I double-checked I had everything packed, threw on my favorite sneakers and ran out the door.
Since it was the middle of fall, I was dressed in a pair of slightly ripped jeans, a black shirt with “P!ATD” written across the front, a dark red jacket, a gray scarf wrapped around my neck, and my hair up in a messy bun. My shoes were black with a tiger printed on the side.
The moment I reached the campus, I pulled out my phone to check the time once more and to get a cramp out of my side, slowing my breathing from the frantic run over. Now, I only had 10 minutes to get to the classroom before the professor did. Feeling better after a quick breather, I shove my phone in the bag containing my laptop while starting to pick up speed. Just as I zipped up the bag and raise my head to see where I was going, I bump into somebody and start to fall backwards.
Right before I hit the pavement, they grabbed my forearm and pulled me towards them. Embarrassed with my actions, I take a step back and bow in apology.
Still apologizing, I stand back up and look at the person who stopped me from falling spectacularly on my back. The moment we make eye contact, my face turns a deeper shade of red and my eyes widen in shock.
Why did it have to be him?

Murderous Ghost
Hello~ I know this is something that is out of the blue, but I did start off my writing hobby by drafting a bunch of horror stories. It’s kind of funny that it came out that way because I cannot stand anything horror related XD This is something that I wrote for my ENG 101 class back in 2012. My mom helped me really grasp the dark nature of the story. Enjoy~
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
In my dream, I am falling into a dark pit. As I fall closer to the ground, I see a man standing in what seems to be a pool of water. Suddenly, he looks up and I notice there is blood splattered all over his face. He is smiling with devious intent. Slowly he raises his arms as if he is going to catch me. I start to scream, when abruptly-
I wake up with a start, in my dorm room. Cold sweat has pressed my night shirt to my back and I am gasping for air.  I slowly turn onto my side and stare at the alarm clock. It is 12 o’clock in the morning. Groaning silently, I take several deep breaths until my breathing slows. I begin to close my eyes when a loud scream pierces the darkness. I quickly throw the covers off. Trying my best to be silent so the Dorm Mother does not hear me, I jump off my bed and run to my window. I slightly pull the curtains back. My window faces northeast and overlooks a neglected grass field next to the dorms. Normally, the field is empty, but I pick up the silhouette of a man. He was shimmering in the moonlight of the crescent moon. It is as if the light passes through his body and reflects an image on the grass.
Sensing my gaze, it appears as if the figure looks right back into my eyes. I feel a shiver creep down my spine. Trying not to scream, I start to slowly shut the curtains. In a blink of an eye, the ominous presence disappears.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It had been several nights since the sighting of the mysterious being. In the end, I thought it was just my mind playing tricks. The only thing that stays the same is the nightmare. That was until the night before Spring Break. It is our last night at the dorms before we are to go to on vacation with our families.
I woke because of the usual nightmare. As I walk to the bathroom to splash cold water on my face, I notice something strange while passing the window. From the corner of my eye, I see movement. I think to myself, It can’t be. I turn towards the window and see him standing there. He is motioning for me to come down. I am paralyzed. It was as if he is tugging my soul. My feet glide across my bedroom floor and down the stairs. It isn’t until I open the back door and the cold breeze sends shivers down my body that I realize I am gravitating towards him.
Against my will, I start to walk to him. I notice his eyes are pitch-black and he is surrounded by bodies of young girls. In his hand, he carried a bloody hammer. As I watch the blood drip from the hammer and onto the leg of a girl, I realized, to my horror, all of the bodies were covered in blood. Suddenly, he lifts his other hand and points his finger in my direction. Once more, I feel the urge to walk towards him. Then, I hear the Dorm Mother scream behind me. I turn around to see where she is and that’s when I feel a strong gust of wind. I look back and he is gone.
After that night, I never saw him again. The bodies were recovered from the field and the girls who were still alive were sent to the hospital for medical treatment. The rest were buried in the local cemetery. Their parents were told that they were attacked by a gang. Only I knew how they really died. I tried to tell everyone about the mysterious man, but no one believed me. A local psychiatrist diagnosed me as mentally unstable with a disassociation with reality due to a traumatic event.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Three years have passed since the killings. After spending a year in the hospital, they sent me back to the dorms so I can finish my schooling. Although all the nightmares and treatment have ended, I still remember that dark night. I can never forget, the way his empty expressionless eyes took a hold of my soul or how I felt the need to go to him. The bloody bodies of the girls at his feet haunt me. Every time I visit the graves or pass by the field, I can still feel his presence. It is as if he is saying, “You cannot escape from me. I will always be watching you, because you are next.”

Sweet Love - Chapter 2
Sorry this is so late! I thought I would be able to update it over the weekend, but I got caught up in some family things. Here is the long awaited second chapter! Enjoy~
Chapters: 1
💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛
Knowing that Jackson loves skinship, I allowed myself to indulge in his touch. When we first started going out, I wasn’t bothered by the amount of skinship, I just didn’t really care for it. After he went on a world tour, however, I learned to cherish the fact that he loved to have constant contact with me.
In fact, that is something I was looking forward to the most when it came to this long awaited date. Although I acted like it annoyed me, I loved being able to intertwine my fingers with his. His fingers were long and I found it fun playing with the rings that he would wear when we went out together.
After a few moments of silence, I decided to ask how everyone has been since we last saw each other.
“How are the guys doing?”
“Mark is thinking about visiting his family for a little bit with Yugyeom again. JB and Jr. are probably working on some new songs. And Youngjae and BamBam were hanging out with Coco when I left.”
“Are you guys preparing for a comeback now?” I asked with a slight glance his way. I know that they have been extremely busy with promoting and holding an arena concert tour in Japan, but I could not help it when my inner Ahgasae decided to come out.
I saw how he hesitated before answering, making sure he did not spill important information.
“Yes”, he replied slowly, “but you’ll have to wait a little bit until the teasers come out.”
Nodding my head, I fancied the thought of getting him to say more. That idea was soon chased away when I thought about how PD-nim would be if he found out. Instead, I switched the subject to all the interviews and variety shows he was on while away. By the time he finished a story about his favorite part of the tour, we reached the mall.
Just as I was about to suggest going to our favorite clothing store, my stomach gave a loud growl. Blushing slightly, I glanced over at Jackson and saw that he was trying to hide a smirk.
“Ah, it sounds like something is growling at us, doesn’t it?” he said while looking around. “Or maybe it was the rumble of a machine?”
“Yah!” I shouted, starting to get defensive the more embarrassed I got. I let go of his hand and was about to hit his arm when another growl was heard. Only this time it was not from my stomach.
Now it was my turn to suppress a laugh and his turn to look embarrassed.
Rubbing the back of his neck, Jackson cleared his throat and shot a side glance at me.
“Baobei, how about we get something to eat first?”
Smiling because he only used that nickname when he was embarrassed, we changed direction and headed towards the food court. Almost immediately, we were faced with an aroma of delicious smells.
Knowing that he was most likely wanted something with meat (I was not going to focus on his love for cheese this time around), I followed my stomach and steered us towards the window selling bulgogi.
After a ten minute wait, we were seated with a plate of bulgogi on glass noodles, two bowls of rice and kimchi and yellow radish as the side dishes.
💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛
Thank you so much for being patient! I will try to upload the third chapter earlier. I know that this was a weird place to leave off, but I feel like the conversation during the meal could be really important for later chapters (hint hint: I am thinking of incorporating the upcoming comeback into the story ;p) Thank you for reading!

Childhood Friend
It was a beautiful spring morning the day Jake moved away. The sky was a brilliant blue and the roses in both of our front yards were in bloom. We normally spent a day like this walking to the park or riding our bikes around the neighborhood. However, today was the day Jake was moving to New York. During the week, I had helped Jake and his family box up everything. When Jake and I were packing stuff up together, we acted like we normally did; goofing off, cracking jokes, and taking silly pictures. We never dwelled on the fact that he was soon going to be three states away.
For a few moments, I let myself reminisce about the first time we met.
-----------
Jake and I had been best friends for the past ten years. Ever since the day I met him in third grade, we clicked. Long ago, on that cool fall day, we ran into each other on the playground during recess. We recognized each other because we were in the same class. I was playing tag with some kids I knew in kindergarten, but had no luck on making any friends with my new classmates for the third year in a row. As I was laughing and running away from my friend Mary Belle, I accidentally slammed into him. I helped him up, immediately apologizing while staring at my shoes in embarrassment.
When I looked back up at him, I did not see a look of pain on his face. Instead, I saw laughter in his blue eyes. He said it was okay and asked if I was okay. I told him I was fine and noticed that his brown hair had a little bit of gravel in it and, instead of dusting it off, I made a joke about it. I instantly regretted that decision when he began to shake his head like a puppy to get it all off. Covering my face to avoid getting hit by the debris, when he was finished, he asked if he could join in just as the bell rang to signal it was time to get back to the classroom.
After school, we ended up walking next to each other on the way home. During the walk, he would run ahead and find interest in the rocks and trees that bordered the path. Once we got to my neighborhood, I was surprised when he headed towards the house across the street. Since so many families moved to and from that house, I never made friends with the kids - not when they would leave again. Once I knew Jake that lived there, I decided to take a chance.
-----------
When moving day arrived, we barely said a word to each other. Now, I stood in my yard, silently watching the activity across the street. I had thought about dressing nice to say good bye, but decided against it. Instead, I stood in the morning mist wearing my favorite ripped jeans and a hoodie Jake gave me on my 18th birthday last month. My hair was in a messy ponytail and pieces randomly kept falling on my face. I was doing my best to hold back tears.
 Somehow, I had always known that this day would come. Nothing good lasts forever and saying good bye was always the hardest part. As his folks continued to pack up, he came over to where I was standing. I thought about saying something funny, but nothing came to mind. So, all I did was stare into his light blue eyes. He smiled like he always did and my heart seemed to skip a beat. Finally, he spoke.
“I guess this is it,” he said with his beautiful smile. “I can’t believe we’ve know each other for ten years. It feels like just yesterday you ran into me in third grade, ha-ha. I’m glad I met you, though. You’re a great friend and a sweet and beautiful girl. We’ve been through a lot of trouble together. I hope we’re able to keep in touch and, who knows, maybe we’ll be able to visit each other sooner than we thought. I’m thinking maybe you’ll like New York ‘cause you’re-”
He stopped talking when he noticed the tears that I tried so hard to hold back began to fall silently from my eyes. Jake raised his hand slowly and gently brushed the tears away. He looked deeply into my green eyes.
“You don’t have to cry. We’ll be able to hang out like we usually do, just not as often.”
As the tears continued to fall, he took a deep breath and quietly sighed. He gathered me in strong, warm, and familiar arms and whispered into my ear, “I wish I told you this sooner, Angel. The truth is that I love you. Your smile makes my heart leap and every time I look into your amazing green eyes, I always feel mesmerized.  I-“
Before he could finish, his parents started calling him over. Jake let go of me, softly kissed my forehead, and turned around to leave. Before he could walk more than a few steps, I grabbed his arm, turned him around, and kissed him before it was too late. He gathered me up into his arms once more and held me to him as my arms circled around his neck. We stayed like that for a little while before I gently pushed away.
“Goodbye Jake,” I finally said. “I love you.”
We both smiled and he walked back to his house. When he climbed into his parent’s car, I raised my hand to wave goodbye. As the car pulled away we stared into each other’s eyes until we could no more. I let my hand drop to my side when the car disappeared from view. I smiled to myself and walked into my house. I knew that I was going to see him again soon. Jake was my best friend and first and only love.

Genre(s): Fluff, Romance
💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💖💛💖💛💖💛💖💛
“Y/N-ah!”
Turning around, I saw my idol boyfriend, Jackson Wang, running towards me. He was dressed as if he had just walked off a photo shoot, which was probably the case. His schedule has been becoming so hectic lately that I wouldn’t be surprised if a last minute shoot was added.
He was dressed in a black hoodie with a white shirt underneath, dark blue jeans, light brown Timbaland boots, and his signature “WANG” snapback covered his blonde hair. As he got closer, I could still see a bit of eyeliner framing his eyes.
Since we were meeting in front of the train station in the middle of a weekday, only the occasional commuter was doing a double take as they realized who was walking by.
The second he reached me, Jackson pulled me into a bear hug. Even though I was embarrassed to show so much affection in public, I let myself indulge in it longer than I normally would. We haven’t seen each other in weeks and I really missed being able to see him as much as I wanted to.
Once he pulled back, his face turned from his dorky smile to one of mesmerization. For a split second, he looked like he wanted to say something, but instead his mouth hung open as he stood there speechless.
On a regular basis, I tend to dress in a cute but casual way. My outfit tends to consist of a loose graphic tee that hangs off one shoulder, skinny jeans, my favorite tennis shoes, barely any makeup and my hair is in a simple braid to the side.
Today, I dressed up more than usual. I traded my jeans, tee, and skinny jeans for simple black leggings, black ankle boots with a thick heel, and a simple navy blue dress. Since it was still the beginning of spring, I had on a light neutral colored jacket that complemented the dress well. My hair was tied up in a high ponytail and my makeup consisted of simple pink gradiant lips, a slight winged eyeliner and eyeshadow that gradually changed from light brown in the inner corners to a smoky gray towards to the tip of the wing. My eyelashes are naturally long, so I applied a few coats of mascara to bring more attention to them. Finally, my nails were decorated with a chevron design in a color scheme that matched my outfit.
Slightly worried because he had not spoken in 30 seconds, I waved my hand in front of his face. He slowly blinked and the look of shock came off his face.
“Yah! Who said you can dress like that?!” he said in a joking tone (with a little bit of accusation).
Immediately, I started to laugh while holding my stomach. While I was gasping for air, his signature smile graced his face and he started to join in.
After laughing until our sides began to hurt, Jackson took my hand and we headed towards the first stop on our long-awaited date.
