FitzSimmons headcanons that live in my mind rent free

Academy Days:

During their time at the Academy, there were SEVERAL times they both fell asleep in one of their beds because they were up so late studying/working on projects.

like they hung out in each other’s dorms all. the. time (except when they were in the lab)

Jemma always sat in the front row in the classroom.

Fitz never did (except if it was a class him and Jemma had together, then he was right there next to her).

After FS became friends, they, without fail, would bring the other up in every conversation they had with their parents.

So much so that both sets of parents became suspicious (in a good way) of the other young cadet their child was spending all their time with.

When Mrs. Fitz met Jemma for the first time, she IMMEDIATELY loved her.

Mr. and Mrs. Simmons felt the same way about Fitz after meeting him for the first time.

Both sets of parents eventually got each other's numbers and definitely talked about their kids and how they shipped them together.

Growing up, Fitz took apart and put back together nearly every machine/contraption in their house

However, Mrs. Fitz didn't mind... most of the time.

Skip ahead/Future:

FS had one other kid after Alya, probably another daughter.

The shield fam are Aunts/Uncles to the FS kids (Aunt Elena/YoYo, Uncle Mack, Aunt Daisy, Uncle Daniel, Aunt Bobbi, Uncle Lance/Hunter).

Except for May and Coulson who are more like a third set of grandparents.

The shield fam has a group chat with the whole team in it (Jemma, Fitz, Daisy, May, Coulson, Mack, Elena, Bobbi and Hunter).

Jemma constantly sends photos and videos of the kids to said group chat, and they demand more if she hasn’t sent any in a while.

The FS kids are 100% spoiled by the team.

Alya definitely had a monkey themed nursery when she was a baby.

Critter

The smallest form of Xeno, hatch from eggs. Resembles a small crustacean with a face full a grasping tentacles.

Traits

Outsider Traits (Su): Critters have all traits common to Outsiders, Critters have the Chaos and Native sub-types.

Keen Senses (Ex): Critters lack eyes, they have Blind-Sight to a radius of 20ft and Tremor Sense to a radius of 50ft, the Critter treats any creature or object beyond 50ft has having Total Concealment

Skills: A Critter uses its Dex modifier for climb and jump checks, receives a +8 size bonus to hide checks

Special anatomy (Ex): Because of their insect-like build, Critters are immune to falling damage.

Damage Reduction (Su): A Critter ignores the first 3 points of damage from any attack that does not deal bludgeoning damage

Attach (Ex): If a Critter hits with a tentacle grab attack, it uses its powerful facial tentacles to latch onto the opponent's body and automatically deals rake damage each round it remains attached. Roller

A larger more mature version of Xeno, a Roller vaguely resembles a cuttle fish or similar cephelapod with an armored shell and vaguely reptilian face. A Roller can curl into a ball for defense and can mature into a Warrior or Queen if left alone.

Traits

Outsider Traits (Su): Rollers have all traits common to Outsiders, Rollers have the Chaos and Native sub-types.

Darkvision: Rollers have darkvision out to a range of 60ft.

Skills: Rollers receive a +8 species bonus to Jump checks, a Roller has multiple grasping appendages, granting it a +4 species bonus to Climb and grapple checks

Damage Reduction (Su): A Roller ignores the first 5 points of damage from any attack that does not deal bludgeoning damage

Pounce (Ex): In the first round of combat, a Roller may take a Full attack action, even if it performs a full move action before hand.

Defensive Roll (Su): Once per day as a move action, a Roller can curl its body into a ball shielding its more vulnerable soft flesh with its shell-like back plates. While in this state, the Roller's speed increases to 40ft, it gains a +5 deflection bonus to defense and can perform a body slam attack that deals 2d6 points of bludgeoning damage. However, while curled inyo a ball, a Roller is considered blind and can not use its bite or tentacle attacks. While curled into a ball a Roller is technically immune to damage, when an attack successfully hits a Roller, roll damage normally and move the roller backwards 5ft for every point of damage rolled, if it encounters an obstacle that can not be simply knocked over the roller will rebound in a random direction, if a similar obstruction is encounter it will ricochet again. A Roller may only stay curled into a ball for a number of rounds equal to its Con score.

Mature (Su): If a Roller survives for 1d4+1 days, roll a d%, on a result of 01 or 100%, the Roller matures into a queen, on a result of 02-75% it will mature into a warrior, on a result of 76-99%, it will remain a Roller for the rest of its life, but, will grow larger as it ages

Damage Reduction (Su): A Queen ignores the first 6 points of damage from any attack that does not deal bludgeoning damage. Or bludgeoning and slashing damage if using the Extendable arms alternate rule (See below).

Produce Proto-eggs (Ex): A proto-egg is a grey circular object about the size of a tennis ball. Once per day a Queen will produce a number of proto-eggs equal to 2d6 plus their Constitution score. A Proto-egg can be planted or thrown as a weapon (follows improvised weapon rules, counts as a tiny object, range increment 10ft max range 50ft). A planted Proto-egg will always mature into an egg 1d2 rounds after planting, a thrown egg has a 50% chance of maturing into an egg if it survives landing. An egg is considered a small object (HP10 Hardness 0, DR6/Bludgeoning). After 1d4 rounds an egg will hatch, spawning 1d4-1 Critters.

Psionics (Su): Once per round a Queen can manifest Mind Blast or Inflict Pain as a 10th level Telepath, however it an only target creature currently under the effect of its Hold Person spell-like ability (see below) The Will DC to resist includes the Queen's Hit Dice.

Spell-like Abilities (Su): Once per round a Queen can cast Hold person as a 10th level Mage, however the range is limited to 20ft. The Will DC to resist includes the Queen's Hit Dice.

Extendable Limbs (Ex) (Optional): If you do not wish to treat the Tentacles as separate aliens (or even if you do) A Queen can have the ability to extend their tentacle like arms out to a range of 30ft (45ft for huge). A queen can use these tentacles to attack enemies from a distance

Improved Grab (Ex) (Optional): To use this ability, the Queen must hit with a creature with a tentacle rake attack. If it gets a hold, it can constrict.

A few more thoughts on Yuzu

One thing going to the GPF really showed me is just how utterly loved he is. I mean, of course I knew he had a huge fanbase, everyone knows that. But until I attended a competition he was in, I didn’t realize just how huge.

It was insane to be there. 99% of the audiece was there for him in some way. The majority of people had Winnie the Poohs, or some similar sign of support. There were Yuzu fans from every country I can think of. There were insane screams every time he entered and every time his face was shown on the screen. People got up at 5-6AM to watch the morning practice on his birthday and there was a gigantic line outside the Palavela in the cold morning air. During the Men’s free skate barely any seats in the arena were empty.

The rain of Poohs after both of Yuzu’s skates (but especially the free) was insane. The little girls could barely pick all of them up. After Yuzu’s free skate and after his exhibition, there was standing ovations. The entire arena was standing and cheering like crazy. The only skater who got half as many people to stand for him was Shun Sato after his free skate (and there it was only about half of the arena - for Yuzu literally everyone was on their feet).

Being there, seeing him skate in person, and seeing people’s reactions to him made you forget that things like calling Yuzu the GOAT were ever considered controversial. There was absolutely no doubt in the Palavela that this man is a legend and no one in the near future will come anywhere close to what he’s achieved. It didn’t matter that he didn’t win - he was 100% the star of the event and everyone knew it.

It was a completely different atmosphere there compared to online. In the Palavela, no one had any doubt about who the GOAT is. For instance: My dad’s not active in the online FS fandom and when I told him about what Nathan said at the press conference (that Yuzu’s the GOAT and that it’s an honour to share the ice with him), my dad was completely unimpressed and just said “Well duh, Nathan better say say that! It’s nothing but the truth.” And I realized he’s right - I was praising Nathan for saying something that should already be a universally acknowledged, absolutely uncontroversial fact. I just found it interesting that for my dad, who’s never heard of any of the online drama around calling Yuzu the GOAT, what Nathan said was just a simple objective fact.

I know that people have been saying for years that once Yuzu retires no one will come to competitions anymore and the ISU will lose 99% of their income. But until last weekend, I didn’t realize just how true that statement is. They will lose their income. Their sport would be nothing without him. And I highly doubt they don’t realize that. They saw the people in the Palavela. They knew who all of those people came to see. They saw who we stood up for. There’s no way they don’t know or don’t realize.

And that’s one more reason why I don’t understand why they’re lowballing his scores like this. Why they’re trying to spread the fake narrative that Nathan Chen is anywhere near his equal, and why they’re adding awful propaganda commentary to their livestream. It’s like they want to get rid of Yuzu and his fans - and I can’t understand why. There’s no way they don’t know that him retiring would be their end - especially if they were to blame for him retiring earlier than he would have liked to.

And I still remember the moment when my dad, who’s only following figure skating pretty casually, said the same thing. We were leaving the Palavela in the evening after the first day, just after the Men’s SP. And I was angrily ranting about the scores and how unfair they were. And then we came outside and we saw the enormous amount of people leaving - Poohs in their hands, Poohs on their heads, Poohs on their keychains, etc. And we looked over that gigantic crowd and my dad just said (paraphrased): “Does the ISU realize that if they treat him unfairly all of these people will be gone soon? Do they realize this is their number one source of income? Do they understand they’re digging their own grave?” And honestly, I don’t know.

This includes considering career opportunities and job options, and deciding whether to buy, rent, or begin a family, or move to another place. The fact that you may have a partner makes matters more complicated. The most crucial decisions will be based on cooperation.

Take responsibility for your own biases.

To free our cognitive resources for more complicated decisions, we do most of our decision-making autopilot. Human brains have developed several heuristics or rules of thumb. These mental shortcuts are effective most of the time and are not apparent when driving to work, or deciding what to make for dinner. Sometimes, however, that awareness is vital. It's crucial when the police are making an arrest or when a leader is making the decision to make the best investment option or whom to hire. It's a virtual roll the dice developed by FlipSimu (FS).

THIS IS NOT ME HATING ON FITZ, like Fitz rpers know I love him. I just don’t think this would ever be them if the writers hadn’t lost it. I think some things were just ooc because they like the concept of Jemma being hope and basically just work as cheerleader so they adapted them to it.

And I do write Jemma as a very doting girlfriend, who loves emotionally supporting her loved ones, making them food, and I will keep writing that. But not like THIS. And I definitely want her to get just as much back. It can’t always be 50% of the weight held by each but it definitely also can’t always be 100% emotional support from her.

That's why he needs you there to help lighten the load.*** Oh, and he loves his prosciutto and mozzarella sandwiches**** that no one can make right except you.” “How could you possibly know all those things?” “Because my mom used to tell me about her parents all the time. She always spoke about her dad with so much love and admiration on her face. Said that he was the best man she ever knew.***** So I know that you can help Fitz******. And I know that you two are gonna be okay because the steps you take don't need to be big”

let me break down what I hate about this for you. And this could have been far easier to just be cute if it hadn’t happened after two seasons of this kind of problems

*Jemma letting him win arguments because he’s complicated and stubborn implies that the constant bickering that she clearly enjoys so much really annoys him instead of being just a cute way to discuss topics, and that he’s not having fun. Plus, she has to compromise for this reason. No, either they don’t bicker, or she should be with someone who enjoys it just as much (Fitz rpers also usually agree on that though, that came out of nowhere) **The emphasis once again on her taking care of him (in this case because he’s a baby when sick). Normally it wouldn’t be bad at all, but in this context, Jemma is always doing 99% of emotional labor, and because she never shares anything (on-screen and it’s implied off-screen too) the writers using the excuse of Jemma being like that have her be an unreal machine capable of giving constant support 24/7 while taking care of her own problems by herself and never breaking. See next points too ***one of Jemma’s traits in the past was that SHE felt responsible for too many things. That is scratched away. There is no ‘and you always felt the weight of the world on your shoulders, blamed yourself for everything, so in return Fitz lightens up the load’. No. Once again emphasis on Jemma doing it for him. ****bringing up the sandwiches which in this context really complete the picture of a cute housewife (overkilling it), especially in a season in which it’s visible to everyone how much the writers had Jemma act like she went through NOTHING while being constant emotional support for Fitz and Yoyo. Literally hours after being freed from actual enslavement she’s the one in charge of reminding Fitz they can make it home and giving him hope. *****when we talk about future Fitz, like present Fitz, we see a genius who is working so hard to fix everything, he’s remembered as the best man his daughter knew. Jemma is there to comfort him even in the flashback of Robin after the end of the world. In a season in which they also forgot that Jemma is a genius, not just a random biochem in there, and could help Fitz with his WORK. ******finally, the emphasis on ‘I know you can help him’ which yes, it’s given to her because she thinks she’s losing him, but you are telling a woman who is desperate to change the future, to do something good, and has spent the day terrified, crying, almost throwing up, watching a friend being tortured and held at gunpoint because her husband is having a psychotic break, that she WILL help him as long as she doesn’t give up on him now (to take care of herself, for example). This is being said to Jemma Simmons, who was crucified 3 seasons ago for leaving Fitz (in that case for his own good) and the blame for him getting worse was given to her not being there, hence how can she possibly not be on Fitz’s side now? -bonus, next episode Mack telling her to try to understand Fitz.

if you write with my Jemma, she’s definitely going to be cute and loving, she’s going to bicker for fun, she’s going to offer support, but she also needs support, she’s been hurt and traumatized, she doesn’t need to be given more responsibilities, she needs people to come check on her too and ask her how she’s doing, she’s a GENIUS who can help with lots of tasks, just as smart as Fitz (do you know how hard it is to get 2 phds before age sixteen? especially considering that most require a 1-2 years amount of time regardless of how fast you finish because you need to do a certain number of hours of work divided in those years, so she’d have had to have a first university degree by age 13 to get to that higher level), and should be allowed to have her own space because the person she’s with should also be able to either work on their problems by themselves a little or have other friends too, because you can’t rely on another person alone, who might need time off. I’m ALL for writing her wifey and cute, but it’s not a job, and she’s also supposed to be helpful at work, she gets to have her traumas, her space, and to be doted on too.

anyway I know most rp partners I have agree with this, but I needed to have it written down in a more detailed way than in my rules. I’m not here to write Jemma as hope in human form, or as the wife from old sitcoms. It reminds me of very bad things from real life, people I know who were destroyed by this, and it’s not funny to me.
