anyways I think it’s time for me to say something really Quirky and weird about 9/11 again. *spins wheel*

Despite having moved on previously -- that being the reason why they don’t play “Skylines and Turnstiles” live--, American rock band My Chemical Romance referencing lead singer Gerard Way witnessing the September 11th attacks and that being the causation of the band in their first release since their 2013 breakup with the line “he was there they day the towers fell” shows how 9/11 remains highly influential in modern society and culture, despite no longer being an emotional touchstone in the forefront of people’s minds. 9/11 is more than a political pivotal moment; it holds great cultural influence as well, still affecting the form of the 21st century two decades later. The 3rd person perspective, rather than 1st person, in the line shows how time has distanced Gerard Way from the event and decreased its prominence in his life, whereas the inclusion signifies how it remains importance in his narrative and that of the band; the phrasing implies that it is not important that Way saw it, but that some people did -- that we as a collective culture witnessed this.

happy birthday gerard way! i love him not only because MCR but because his comics, music, style made me the nerdy freak i am today. sure he can do some questionable things at times but this man and his band saved my life when i was going through shit at my 1st breakup and was a mess but g.way helped me find where i belong and now I'm happy! ^^ so thank you gerard for sharing your talents with the world

I know tumblr might not like this opinion but mcr should figure their drums out. Put one of your three guitarists on the drums. If I was in mcr and Mr G.Way told me our drummer was shit, I would drop my guitar (very carefully) and pick up the drum sticks. Especially if we had four ex drummers. Idk put Gerard way on drums or something

Watched Top Gun. My dad likes to talk about how people in Taiwan told him he looked like Tom Cruise. My mom and my brother agree he (Tom Cruise) looks like Elon Musk but good-looking. Me, I think he looks a little like Gerard Way.
