I did this like a year ago and was planning on making it a longer thing but I got distracted so instead here, have it like this.
Consider: Gabrielle can sense Aphrodite’s presence the way Xena can sense Ares’

God below Man
Past the glow, Gabrielle lay herself upon the ground and immediately felt the groping hands. Too tired now to fight, and not quite galvanized by fear, she let the anonymous hands rip the beading sweat from the slight cavity in her chest, tearing cross-strap over the breast into the armpit, another soft hand filling the webs of its fingers with her hair, gently pulling her head back, forcing her to exhale, pulsing light grabs so to mimic homeostatic breaths, inhale and exhale (on cue). A third hand, more calloused, like the earthen roots rising from beneath her mirror-flipped and sunk into her thighs as fingers, returning home to the dirt, another set of textured fingers tracing lines in her abdomen before strongly holding her waist to the ground—here she felt strangely comforted, her head and chest pulled in dreamy surrender while the rest of her body pressed into Gaia’s warm embrace (in the past, before she had known for sure, she imagined this was what death would feel like past the moment of surrender, the warm release from pain while feeling heavier than she’d ever felt, but now she knows, she knows for sure that...

Is this too out of left field? Gabrielle x Aphrodite
I love Gabrielle and Aphrodite! I know that Aphrodite is in love with Gabrielle and I am 1000% right convinced that Aphrodite helps Gabrielle after Xena's death and watches over her through all of her reincarnations.
Ooh, which leads me to...
*
Aphrodite lifts her lips from Gabrielle's cool forehead. "No Amazon Land of the Dead?"
Celesta's eyes are kind. "Her path is too important. You will see her again, many times."
Aphrodite strokes Gabrielle's cheek.
"Yes, I will."
*
Aphrodite smiles at the man.
Her foothold here won't let her stay, but...
Shakti pauses at the sudden whispered kiss against his forehead.
Love.
*
Her powers ebb.
Aphrodite waits.
*
A whip and that hat!
"Get those Nazis! Pow!"
*
A past-life clinic?
And Ares, again.
Aphrodite preens, offering her hand. "I'm Aphrodite."
Mattie raises her eyebrows. "A goddess? Please, come in."
Aphrodite always does.

tbh i think one of the best fics i've ever written was the one of gabrielle and perdicus's wedding night but nobody read it bc it wasn't explicitly x/g. it was x/g though. listen to me. i will never not write x/g when im writing xwp fic. there may be flavors of other pairings but in the end we know who the soulmates are. gaphrodite rules tho

Hi!! From the lets get real fic ask thing; sorry if there are too many
✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)
💘Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?
💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?
🌿how does creating make you feel?
🍉in what ways has writing helped you process trauma and/or navigate through your own life?
🧿what steps do you take to not take things personally if a fic doesn't do well, or if your writing/posting/sharing experience isn't going how you'd like it to?
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
🎉how often do you celebrate completing & posting a work? how often do you give yourself the credit/validation that you seek from others when you post? (if you don't, you should!)
🤍what's one fic of yours you think people didn't "get"?
🕯️was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn't think it would take you?
💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.
💎why is writing important to you?
Ahhh thank you for this! I skipped a few I don’t really feel up to answering right now I hope that’s ok.
✨ What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)
I’ve actually been rereading a few of my old pieces whilst trying to work on ones I’m struggling to update and I recently went over taking the long way around again (I’m thinking I might draw something from it) and man… those were simpler times before s16 had thrown a spanner in the works. So I guess that’s my answer.
💘Is there any posted fic you want to rework/re-edit/re-write?
Ha, honestly most of my early Jemily stuff could definitely do with being rewritten. I also wrote an AU for a different fandom which I wound up deleting which I wish I could rework but it makes me miserable thinking about it lol.
💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?
Honestly, I love all comments, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I absolutely lose it when I get a review email come through and it’s multiple paragraphs of someone picking out their favourite lines and delving into the imagery etc. I love those comments you get where it’s clear the person who read it just *got* it and gets you.
🌿how does creating make you feel?
Often frustrated hahaha. But it’s also my favourite way of being.
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
I feel like my style as a writer is deeply influenced by other writing I love, and from that point, it is ever-changing because I’m continuously finding new pieces that inspire me. But there’s definitely some things that I recognise as patterns: I’m always writing the same scenarios but slightly different. Those like slice of life, mundane moments like waking up next to a person you love, or travelling late at night. Moments you take for granted like sharing a book that you love with someone you love, or having tea made for you. And then on the other end of the spectrum there’s the moments that rip your heart in two. Parts of characters which never get addressed in canon, trauma that doesn’t get resolved. I feel like with my stuff there’s no in between. A lot of my writing just feels like nothing happens in it, or EVERYTHING does. Does that make sense.
🤍what's one fic of yours you think people didn't "get"?
I will always yell about now we’re ashes on the ground because I’m so proud of that piece. I don’t think it’s necessarily that people don’t get it so much as it’s not as appealing as something that actually has Emily present in it lol but it’s always the one I’m most excited about people commenting on or giving kudos.
💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it
My least kudos’d fic is a Gaphrodite piece so I’m not hugely surprised it’s not got more kudos. I really felt like I pushed myself with writing it though, and I love how it turned out.
💎why is writing important to you?
Honestly, writing is cathartic. It’s so good to turn your frustration for a piece of media (or, rarely, your admiration for it) into something carefully sculpted and often self indulgent. Writing is the one thing I have been consistently good at since I was a kid so I’m so glad I continue to find new ways to enjoy it.

Serious worship
A Xena/Gabrielle/Aphrodite fic with a slight focus on Gaphrodite. Explicit. 5,901 words.
Ha! I can’t help myself. It’s way too easy to rile you up. Just a quick question, though. Have you ever sealed the deal with the warrior babe?
Well, don’t you want to know what it’s like? I’m in the mood to share today. And so was Gabrielle.
I'm not sure I'm going to be done writing in time to have the sequel to this ready before the end of Gaphrodite Week, but a G/Aph follow-up will be out soon!

Question: Why didn’t Gabrielle wish for Hope to return to her during “The Quill is Mightier…”?
Answer: Well, she certainly tried… 🥲
Tumblr media
Gabrielle sat up from where she had been pretending to sleep, as she did every night since giving up her Hope. Silently, she rose and drew away from the group that included Ares, Aphrodite, Minya, and Joxer, not knowing that the only blue eyes among them had popped open and were watching her too nor noticing that the overly loud snoring had stopped. The bard slipped her quill and scroll out from where she had hidden them in Joxer’s scabbard and then sat on a large rock bathed in dim light.
“Famous storyteller… Gabrielle of Potidaea sat writing in her magic scroll,” she intoned carefully as she jotted the words onto the parchment, finally giving voice to the distraction that had held her heart, mind, tongue, and hand captive all day, “Her greatest wish came true when her precious baby was returned to her, her love; her Hope! The child appeared in a flash of white light that brought joy to her mother’s heart and rejoicing from her friends. They all celebrated the glorious return of her- their great hope. Even Xena, the warrior princess, when she came back from fishing, was glad that her friend’s hope had been restored, that her loving Gabrielle could smile again with her whole heart. In an instant, Xena realized that she loved the child as her own and never wanted to let her go either. And everyone was happy. They were all happy; good!”
The teenager looked up, breath caught in her chest and heart hammering double time. “My love; my Hope. Come back to me!” she urged as the seconds stretched into a small infinity.
An unnaturally bright moonbeam broke through a dark cloud and cast an ephemeral pool in front of the bard.
Gabrielle bounded to her feet, dropping her writing tools and throwing her arms wide to embrace her baby. She beamed even as she felt her heart tickling at the back of her throat and threatening to leap out of her mouth over her tongue.
To Aphrodite, she looked radiant, like an angel on Earth.
Then the darkness reasserted its dominance. Though not completely extinguishing the moonbeam, a large cloud dulled and narrowed it considerably.
A chill in the air picked up as a swirling vortex formed within the tiny circle. It howled eerily but quietly, like lost souls mourning their fate; intangible fingers of ice caressed Gabrielle’s face, then every inch of her bare skin.
She leapt back and crossed her arms over her chest to ward off the horror rising within her. “Hope!” she cried upon seeing the shadowy outline of a young girl and knowing instantly who it was. Halfway to jumping into the spirit wind to grab hold of her child, she got thrown back and slammed to the hard ground. The haloed air caught fire, and a foul voice emanated from it.
“Now, now, little one. You may be just beyond my reach, for now—” a tendril of flame took on the shape of a claw and raked at Gabrielle, passing through her like so much smoke—“but my child is firmly in my grasp, and I will never let her go! You will never have her!” The god's words ignite her written ones, flaring them red and white before making them disappear altogether.
“No!” Gabrielle cried back, throwing herself at the dissipating tornado anew, fully ready to plunge herself into Dahak once more and spare their child, only to fall to her hands and knees.
Another cloud moved over the first and blocked out the beam of light completely; nothing of the wind remained. All that was left was Gabrielle’s ever attendant Hopelessness.
She wept on her shins for a span of time she could not distinguish. Her baby’s name fell from her lips incessantly. “Please; please,” she begged the sky at long last, dropping her hands into her lap and staring up into the blank expanse above her. “Bring her back; bring my Hope back to me. Save her!”
More than any other moment did Aphrodite miss having her powers. There was nothing she could do for Gabrielle to help ease her pain.
