Motorola supports users’ ‘Right to Repair
On November 20th, iFixit announced a partnership with Motorola to provide Motorola's smartphone repair kit. Users can send their devices to Motorola for repair, or they can purchase iFixit batteries or Motorola OEM Fix Kits, including the tools they need to do their own tasks.
iFixit is a private company that sells repair parts and publishes a free online repair guide for consumer electronics and gadgets on its website.
According to iFixit, this partnership is designed to support the right to repair the sport. Motorola is the first major smartphone manufacturer to offer repair kits to its customers. Through this cooperation, Motorola has adopted an open maintenance attitude.
In the official announcement, iFixit said:“For fixers like us, this partnership is representative of a broader movement in support of our Right to Repair. It’s proof that OEM manufacturers and independent repair can co-exist. Big business and social responsibility, and innovation and sustainability don’t need to be mutually exclusive. Motorola is setting an industry-leading example of a company that’s looking forward—not just six months ahead to next quarter’s margins, but decades ahead when devices are damned for the landfill.”
What is the right to repair?
Recently, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported that Apple has been overestimating maintenance costs and threatening third-party stores that repair Apple products at lower prices. Apple only allows authorized Apple Store technicians to repair their devices.
To confirm Apple's misconduct, CBC News visited one of the authorized repair centers and used a hidden camera to record the entire conversation with the technician. The video shows that Apple customers are often told that a faulty computer is not worth repairing, even minor repairs can solve the problem.
The news of Apple’s drawbacks drove the maintenance rights movement. The campaign argues that manufacturers should perform fair repairs by providing maintenance documentation and supply parts to consumers and independent repair shops.

How to Fix Cracked Laptop Case
My Alienware 15 R3 had a very unfortunate accident and fell down and hit a hard object. The damage is not serious enough, and the laptop can work. However, the laptop case in the front right corner area was damaged with a gap.
One of the dangers of owning a laptop is the tendency for the laptop to fall violently. You may still need to repair a laptop that accidentally dropped. Laptop casings are almost always made of plastic, so you can use multiple techniques to fix the cracks yourself.

HP extends the recall time of batteries
Product Safety Australia (PSA) extended the recall time to multiple HP laptop internal batteries to March 2019 due to overheating risks.
Affected laptops include HP ProBooks (64x G2 and G3 series, 65x G2 and G3 series), HP x360, HP ENVY m6, HP Pavilion x360, HP ZBook (17 G3, 17 G4 and Studio G3) mobile workstations.
Affected batteries include computers sold nationwide on computers from December 1, 2015 to April 30, 2018.
The recalled battery may present a risk of overheating, which may result in fire or burning.
Since most of the battery packs are packaged internally, it is necessary to identify them by HP website.
The first character of the unique number of possible affected batteries is 6GAVV, 6EZPC, 6FDWN, 6EZZE, 6EZZF, 6EVXH, 6ETGL, 6FSRV, 6FWBF, 6FWBH or 6FSNF.
If the customer's battery is affected, PSA will immediately advise the laptop to be in "battery safe mode" and stop using the laptop.
HP will provide a replacement battery service for each affected battery. If your HP battery is in the recall range, there is no charge for replacing the new laptop battery for free.

How to upgrade the SSD in Lenovo IdeaPad 730S
This article is about upgrading the solid-state drive of the Lenovo IdeaPad 730S. The hardware of other Lenovo notebooks is similarly disassembled. The upgrade interface of the hard disk needs to be determined according to the specific model. 3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the solid fastener, a single fastener of the M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.
4. Pull the old M.2 SSD away from the bracket. It should be relatively easy to extract.
5. Insert the new M.2 SSD into the slot with the plane facing down.
6. Tighten the fasteners at the end of the new M.2 SSD section, taking care not to apply too much force. This ensures that the SSD is in place.
7. Replace the bottom case of the IdeaPad 730S by applying pressure around the edges. When the seat is properly seated, you should hear the panel spring back.
8. Screw on the nine fasteners on the rear panel.
Here you have completed the SSD upgrade of Lenovo laptop, if you clone the old system then your hard disk can start windows and normal use. If not, you will need to install an operating system for the new hard drive.
