I do think it’s actually pretty interesting to think about how OFMD would read differently if Ed were a woman. But I don’t think Izzy is the one who would come out looking worse—if anything, his overprotectiveness and concerns about Ed looking weak on a ship full of pirates might come off as MORE justified. And with Blackbeard’s legacy then being something more unique, Izzy’s fear of Ed giving that up to play housewife might at least be more understandable.

But *Stede* would look like a total asshole. Abandoning his wife and kids because he’s gay and he never wanted that kind of life is sympathetic. Just going off to cheat with a newer, more exciting woman absolutely is NOT. And Stede’s pattern of ignoring his partners’ preferences and doing what he thinks is best would come off as misogyny instead of general obliviousness.

Hey do you think Jamil has trouble seeing people his age as peers?

Like, growing up having to be a caretaker to a guy literally a few months older than him, always expected to act like the adult in the situation, expected to work with adults and adopt their perspectives and pick up their slack. Do you think he just, forgets sometimes?

I mean we've seen him go into caretaker mode with other sophomores, and the only people I've seen him take seriously are juniors like Vil who also act much older than they should have to (his reactions to Leona look more like a trauma response and I don't wanna get into it here). People like Malleus and Cater still somewhat get the caretaker treatment. Like I just highly doubt that he subconsciously realizes he's actually part of his age group

Aaand that inevitably brings up Azul, who also acts like he thinks he's older than he is. Whether you're looking at it from a shipping angle or not, he reacts to Azul like an actual peer. With older students, he seems more in his element but there's still a status hierarchy which he compulsively reacts to. With Azul he doesn't acknowledge any status worth respecting or see him as someone who needs to be looked after. He just bickers like an equal, in a way that implies he actually does see Azul as a real peer, like subconsciously he's categorized this guy into the same group as himself, who was previously alone on that level (he gets like this more with the twins too, over time, but it seems to start with Azul).

And my favorite part about this is, while that response stems from them both acting more like adults in general, they elicit a pettiness from each other which drags them both down to actually acting their own age, and I just love that. Their characters are perfect foils for each other and it seems to make them both less isolated in a way.

Yo! I think the Endless Possibility -> Endless Possibilities comes from one of the most earliest lyric videos on YouTube which misnamed the song, it has like 3M views. Funnily enough that it doesn't get the chorus wrong, which I've heard people sing wrong, so it's only the title that's wrong.

so i had a couple ocs as a kid (made for a story that i never wrote a lot for) and i haven’t drawn any of them since i was like. 14. so it’s been a hot minute but anyway i realized the other day that out of the 5 main cast i have gotten 3 of their haircuts. i remember vaguely thinking that one character always seemed to have the haircut i wanted and i had that haircut for years but recently i got rid of that haircut and had another one’s haircut then i changed it a bit and dyed it and now i have another one’s. so i’m like man 12 year old me had great taste in haircuts. i should go down the list and do them all

i love the bookworm app bceause the global timeline gives me a really good picture of what people in general are reading but on the flipside i am discovering the worst books in the world e.g. some hack has written a good girl florist/bad boy tattoo artist romance novel, thus combining literally genuinely all my least favourite tropes in the world, good luck and godspeed to anyone who reads that shit but the florist/tattoo artist thing seeped into fandom almost a decade ago like slime from the sewers and i have an ugly little chamber of my heart reserved just for the seething hatred it engenders in me. my kneejerk reaction against anything that becomes popular for no apparent reason the gendering of "women like flowers and men like tattoos" the utterly simplistic interpretation of opposites attract the idea that flowers and tattoos are somehow fucking opposite despite literally every bisexual i know having at MINIMUM two flower tattoos... repugnant to me

#blah blah blah #and of course my complex and largely unfounded fear of permanent body modification #but i'm aware that's 100% a me thing #throwback to when i tried to get over that fear by getting my ears pierced #and then my skin rejected the whole concept so now i'm back to square one #lol lmao ha ha ha #this is off-topic now but i find it interesting how a lot of disabled people find tattoos empowering #because it gives you a form of reclamation of your own body #and i think that's such a cool perspective #unfortunately my particular reaction to disability changing my body is for my brain to scream ENOUGH!!!!! #i can't even think of something i'd want on my skin forever anyway #and knowing me SOMETHING would go wrong #love changing up my hair style though :-)
