I love how Community gave us a few brief scenes and the occasional comment regarding Abed's dad, giving us a possible range of interpretations from well-meaning but misguided and overprotective to an asshole who just thinks he knows what's best for Abed, and so many fans collectively went you know let's imagine he's as good a father as we can conceivably make him from that, let's acknowledge the strained relationship but imagine that he's absolutely trying and cares a lot, because Abed deserves that and it would be nice

Imagining Abed's dad meeting Troy in a "meeting your kid's new boyfriend" scenario is really funny because I imagine him being really glad that his son is dating someone who's so kind to him, but also VERY concerned at all the weird shenanigans Troy tells him about.
