Hi tumblr are ya'll interested in seeing a wip of Revali’s bow? I don't usually post my cosplay stuff on here but idk I think ya'll would want this. Prop building is something I absolutely love doing. There's still things to do for the bow but it's almost done!

The explanation for why totk’s story is so Not Great and how disconnected from its predecessor it feels being that the devs didn’t want to alienate new players who didn’t know anything about botw’s story just falls apart the more I think about it. Nothing from this stupid half a plot works unless the player is familiar with specific details from the better games that came before it.
The believability of Link and Zelda’s connection to each other hinges on you knowing about the nuance of their relationship in botw. The ancient sages fighting with the champions’ arms and divine beast helms will only be impactful to botw/aoc players because totk doesn’t bother to explain the significance of that callback at all. Fi’s cameo is meaningless unless you either got every memory in botw or finished the master trial dlc (and know about her from skyward sword). You’ll only get the full context of Teba being sidelined in favour of a 12-year old if you played a specific chapter of Age of Calamity’s second DLC. Like sorry but I think Nintendo just made a bad story tbh

I just finished Tulin's storyline and excuse me while I bawl about this game further cementing the fact that Revali made himself a Champion. He was no descendant of an ancient Sage nor did he have a loving family to train him (that we know of). There was no power destined to be his: he crafted his own version of wind control without any support or spiritual guidance and excelled at it and then he and the other Champions went into battle without the special helms, without a sacred tear/charm to further enhance his abilities, without the certainty of two rulers (and a sage from the future) with god-like powers that could back them up if things went awry. Because of this, the original Sages survived where the Champions did not.
Revali was doomed from the start and if he'd known he would've still honed his craft and piloted Medoh with his beak held high and I am in shambles about it

I know Nintendo never would've done this because, y'know, despite the darkness of the story the games still have to be as ~kid friendly~ as possible to appeal to a wider audience.... but imagine if in each of the divine beasts you could find bones. They wouldn't even have to be specific bones that look like they might have belonged to a Rito or a Gerudo or, assuming they have bones, a Zora or a Goron. Just nondescript, generic piles of bones, one hidden in each of the divine beasts. Maybe not so hidden that they'd be impossible to find, but somewhere especially in the areas where the battles against the blights take place. Somewhere quiet an unassuming in those places. The kind of thing that could super easily be missed if you're not looking for it even though it's in plain sight. Doesn't need to be graphic or overly ominous, but it would add to the crushing weight of Knowing What You Know. Something tangible to say oh yeah, one of your only friends fucking died here. Not just died- got absolutely obliterated here.

it's amazing how tulin has developed the ability to control the winds at such a young age, no doubt his admiration for revali playing a role in that. my only hope is that this was something that he learned himself through years of practice, just like revali, instead of it being the innate ability he's always had by being a descendant of the sage of wind. idk, i just like the thought of him working for it
