Since I got a modest raise recently, I celebrated by buying something that I didn’t necessarily need but just made me happy. This little friend, lovingly dubbed “sushi frog”, is from a detail in one of Hieronymus Bosch’s famously chaotic paintings, “The Hermit Saints.” Ever since I saw the creature in the painting I thought it was adorable - what an absolute little guy! Don’t you want him to just sit in the palm of your hand? At least now I can wear him on my bag and enjoy his cuteness always. That innate feminine urge to have a familiar. A magical creature you can have as a constant companion, like the daemons in His Dark Materials. I’m apparently an Enamel Pin guy now.

They’re a lightweight and easy-to-store souvenir, so I’m not mad about it. I’ve been enjoying changing them out every once in a while, so here’s my latest design for my carry-on bag (top) and my map case that I use for strollin’ around town (bottom). 

I don’t have sources for all my pins as some were gifts, but the Chicago Pride flag is from Big League Pins (I own several great pins from them), the long-legged owl is from Greerstothers/@pangur-and-grim, and the triceratops (which glows in the dark) and the barn owl are from Roamin Bison. (The croissant-and-stars is from an extremely good mill and bakery called Abby Jane Bakes, but I don’t think they sell them online.)

AHHHH 😭 some of the ‘Momento Mori’ pins from my manufacturer do not meet quality control!

I’ll ask them to ship me higher quality replacements, but that unfortunately means some pre-orders are going to take a long time to fill (because we have to wait for manufacturing to proceed all over again). if you have an order placed and would rather get a B-grade pin then wait another 1-2 months, though, just email me and I’ll ship you one of these!

@pangur-and-grim thank you so much for your lovely pin! I offered the weasel totem to Teddy aka (Tedders or Duke Teddington III) for inspection. Tedders was a temporary foster at my best friend's place for a while but went home the next weekend after being blessed by the witchy ferret!
