Hololive / Nijisanji Covver Digest for April

1st - Vampire (Janne de Arc) by Sorahoshi Kirame

Don’t be fooled, although the song is a bit too early… Kirame always cover songs a bit outside of the norm, and this is no exception. Not that Kirame can’t cover the power and oddness necessary for this cover, in some sense this is very similar to her ‘sister’.

4th - Kaibutsu by Saegusa Akina & Fuwa Minato

Akina and Fuwa bring YOASOBI’s classics to a new level. The most watched cover of the most watched song of 2021. That’s a nice achievement to have, isn’t it?

6th - Kami Iro Awase by Akabane Youko

I always loved this opening from Danganronpa 3, and I was surprise and very happy that Youko covered this song. Her light and airy voice fits very well and her love for horror adds to it.

13th - Villain (K/DA) by Moona Hoshinova

Moona’s deep diva voice doesn’t usually lend well to a Japanese song, but darker K-pop have fortunately adapted the western diva vocals with Eastern sensibilities. Her previous cover with Kureha gave us a taste of what this cover shows. This is Hoshinova at her finest.

18th - Happy Synthesizer by Kishida Temma

Temma brings his sweet side with a cover of a perennial classic, Happy Synthesizer. This is definitely in the sweetest man’s wheelhouse and he does his best voice here.

22nd - Yona Yona Yona by Honshou Marine

Marine always gets pegged (heh, heh) as a lively singer, but her voice does fit sorrowful tunes a bit better, in my opinion. This cover showcases that wonderfully. Her wail-like singing adds necessary pathos to this ballad classic by Kurahashi Yoeko.

22nd - Blessing by Gwelu Os Gar

I just think this is just too amusing to pass up. I mean who comes up with this idea? It’s funny and yet oddly endearing, which explains a lot of Gwelu’s singing ability.

29th - Unknown Mother Goose by Happy Trigger

This was originally a UTAU cover, and somehow Riri heard it and said… we should make it into reality. And they did! They said it was one of the hardest covers to cover, and yeah… this song is hard to sing, but the result is well worth it. Like the original, it’s just beautiful.
