Sam Peckinpah's Convoy (1978) starts to lose momentum just as the rubber hits the road.
Sam Peckinpah's Convoy (1978) starts to lose momentum just as the rubber hits the road. #Review
Judged by what made it to the screen, CONVOY is far from Sam Peckinpah’s best work. Intended to capitalise on the booming popularity of CB radio and American road culture during the 1970’s, this ruggedly goofy movie adaptation of the C W McCall song of the same name was a superficial commercial success (the biggest of Peckinpah’s career) but a critical and financial failure, prematurely killing…

Cinematographer Harry Stradling Jr.’s work has spanned decades and genres. In 1973 and 1974, he earned back-to-back Oscar nominations for his work on “1776” and “The Way We Were.” Today, we remember him.

- I almost forgot. Don’t get her drunk. She loses control completely. - But don’t get her drunk. If you get her drunk... she loses control!  - Ted, are we talking a loss of inhibitions here, or does she pee on the floor?

i like to think about how the walls in the congress chamber in 1776 were removable. that’s the only way they got some of those wide shots. also the forklift. the forklift. and that one scene of 3 different conversations happening at once that was done all in one take by spinning the camera around really fast. harry stradling jr you are a genius thank you

- Why can't I have you? - Because you push too hard, every damn minute. There's no time to ever relax and enjoy living. Every things too serious to be so serious. - If I push too hard it's because I want things to be better, I want us to be better, I want you to be better. Sure I make waves you have I mean you have to. And I'll keep making them till your everything you should be and will be. You'll never find anyone as good for you as I am, to believe in you as much as I do or to love you as much. - I know that. - Well then why? - Do you think if I come back its going to be okay by magic? What's going to change? What's going to be different? We'll both be wrong, we'll both lose. - Couldn't we both win?
