This time of year our harvest is in, the trees have shed their leaves, and it seems as though the natural world has said good night. I enjoy walking through the woods at this time and noticing the late bloomers, meant to sustain wildlife through the harsh winter. Their bright colors are a sharp contrast to the browns we usually see nowadays.

These are my goals. My yard has but 3 trees. I want to see it filled with trees...maples, oaks, poplar, and fruit.

The wheel of the year keeps turning and as the sun is losing its heat we begin bringing the fires inside in the form of hearth fires. This time of year there is always a fire burning on the stove or in the oven. There is something quite cozy and self-sufficient about this time of the year. We tend to think that our summer gardens are a testament to our tenacity and self sufficiency and even though we do put in a lot of work, the truth is the real work is done by Mother Nature. The autumnal season is our time to shine. It is a time when we practice the art of alchemy as we turn the gifts of Mother Nature into nutritious and comforting foods that heal our minds, bodies, and souls.

I have always felt that dirt roads are better for the soul. There is little more relaxing than taking a walk or drive down a dirt road. Especially since they don't afford you the same ease of speed as paved roads. You must be vigilant for wildlife and the loose terrain requires you to slow down. Blessed are those who can see this slower pace as a chance to connect to nature and take in her beauty.

Our Nature's Blessing stones are always a hit. Today seemed like a perfect day to add to our inventory.

Its that time of year when we find ourselves bundling up to stay warm. The north winds are blowing into town with the intentions of sticking around for a while. My question to you is when you step outside do you simply feel the cold or can you see the beautiful disply Mother Nature is creating for us?
