a bit different from my usual content but i've been trying out making character edits so i made redesigns/headcanons of some of the demon slayer hashira !! :D

i'll put any changes i made under the cut but lmk if you like it or want to see any characters done first cause its really fun to do >:]

tomioka giyuu

i actually didn't do a ton of changes for him ! i like his design a lot but after seeing fanarts of him with a tan/curly hair/freckles i think it altered my dna a tiny bit so i included it :"] also gave him white pupils, red eyeliner (? is it eyeliner?? some kinda makeup i think) along the bottom corners of his eyes and added a fish-scale pattern onto the red side of his haori!! get it. fish scale. water hashira. yeah. i feel like it adds kinda foreshadowing too if u think about who he got it from (iykyk)

2. kanroji mitsuri

as much as i love love love mitsuri i feel like her design didn't do her a ton of justice !!! i really wanted to lean in to her pink color scheme since she's the love hashira so thats why i changed her haori color (and added sakura blossom patterns) but i also made her skirt a little longer/made the unbuttoned part of her uniform a heart shape (theres no way girlie isn't uncomfortable fighting in that), added a gradient/changed the blue on her socks, gave her more moles/heart pupils, made her hair into one big braid tied w/ a ribbon and with flowers woven into it !! also she has a more rosy skin tone now cause i feel like it works better with her palette. + i made her a lil chunky ^__^

3. shinazugawa sanemi

honestly he's one of my favorite designs so didn't change him a ton but i added a cloud pattern to his haori (it might have been too cropped to be one ??) and added more length to the hem, its just tucked under his belt :D also i edited his smile a little for a bit more spook factor (although i also think if he was smiling not-evily that it would make him look sweeter too so . depends on the circumstance??) i also added different types of scar tissue on his arms/face/chest because the way all of his scars were very harsh and jagged and the same color was kinda jarring imo even if im sure it was to make it easier on the animators which is totally cool !! however i did try to add variation :D

4. kocho shinobu

live laugh love shinobu!! i didn't change her a lot either but it was honestly a missed opportunity to not make her haori in the shape of butterfly wings so i edited it with that idea in mind to the best of my ability!! also i got rid of the shine in her eyes because i feel like cloudy eyes suits her character more... also added gold butterfly decals to her belt and changed the pink parts of her outfit to match her color scheme !! i think pink is more mitsuri's thing so i wanted to give her more purples :D also changed the gradient to just the underside of her hair being purple !! i like primarily dark hair on her more to be honest !!

Hogwarts Mystery Survey

I was tagged by @weasley-adoptee to do this! Thank you so much, friend. <3 This was super fun to do.

Answers under the cut, and my shy ass is going to tentatively tag @freckled-petals, @rompemaldiciones, @willowtreewritingss, and @carmilla-the-bird. Feel free to ignore. c:

Favourite Gryffindor:

Bill is Lee’s big brother and I love his characterization in this game to bits. He’s truly the sibling MC deserves, and if given the choice, I would dropkick Jacob into the sun and replace him with Bill. I’m sure Jacob will not understand.

Least Favourite Gryffindor:

Ben, my boy, I love you, but you’re driving me mad. I liked him best in Year 5, truth be told. I wasn’t a fan of him prior and Year 6 Ben is plain aggravating most of the time. I’m still holding out for him, though; those flashes of his former self we get keep me hopeful that he won’t always be an asshole.

Favourite Hufflepuff:

Who else but Penny Haywood? I know JC overuses her in everything these days, but I still adore her and so does my MC.

Least Favourite Hufflepuff:

Hm. Probably Diego. There’s nothing wrong with him - I just don’t find him that interesting compared to our other friends.

Favourite Ravenclaw:

Local bird boy Talbott Winger snuck up on me. I liked his character from his debut - grumpy, aloof characters with a dry sense of humor and a heart of gold are my weakness - but I wasn’t expecting to ship him with Lee. I actually loved the idea of Talbott x Badeea, and I still enjoy that ship, but yeah. Talbott x MC has since surpassed it for me. He’s great.

Least Favourite Ravenclaw:

Honestly, I don’t think I have a least favorite for this house. Ravenclaw's characters are solid.

Favourite Slytherin:

Merula, this one’s for you. Of course it’s for you. Your design is stupid cute and your moody ass has stolen my heart. And honestly, I’d ship you with Lee if I didn’t love your brother-sister relationship with him more.

Least Favourite Slytherin:

It’s gonna be Liz solely for the reason that we don’t know much about her. And it’s not her fault - she’s one of the characters JC created and promptly forgot about after her part in Year 5 (4?) was over.

Favourite Quidditch Character:

This one goes to Orion Amari aka MC’s other big brother. I thought his personality might grate on me when I first met him, but past me was a fool, I tell you, a complete clown. Orion is wonderful and deserves the world. <3

Least Favourite Quidditch Character:

This is hard because I genuinely adore all the Quidditch characters. Maybe the ones who don’t have names? I mean, I get why they’re not characterized. They’re placeholders. MC’s going to replace them eventually. However... I’m a writer. I'm going to give these guys my own headcanons and then grow attached to their characters regardless of what you do with them, so you might as well name them for me. Please. I hate naming things.

Favourite Teacher:

Professor Flitwick is great, but when Professor McGonagall smiles at my MC when he gets her question right, my heart grows three sizes. Minnie is the best. <3

Least Favourite Teacher:

While I like Snape’s character more in Hogwarts Mystery than in the books, I’m still not a fan of him overall.

Favourite Non-Teacher Adult:

Hagrid, of course! A gentle giant with a pure heart. Too good for this world.

Least Favourite Non-Teacher Adult:

Rita Skeeter can get hit by the Knight Bus. Seriously. I don’t understand why MC hasn’t turned her away already - she’s terrible, and I personally hc she’s the one responsible for popularizing the rumor that Jacob went to work for Voldemort. That’s why my MC can’t stand her.

Rate Rowan on a scale of 1-10, 1 being “Why are we even friends?” and 10 being “BFFs for Life!”:

Rowan is my favorite HPHM character. I’ve loved this nerd since the beginning and I will never forgive JC for what they’ve done to them. Rowan deserved better. I will shout this into the void until the day I die, and they’ll always be Lee’s first love. </3

Rate Jacob on a scale of 1-10, 1 being “You’re dead to me” and 10 being “Love you forever, big bro!!”:

For me, Jacob is a 5. Do I think he’s a bad brother? Yes. Would I drop him like a hot potato for Bill and Orion if given the chance? Absolutely. But I think he can still be redeemed. Maybe. I’m not holding my breath for it, but it’s possible. Although, to be frank with you, the angst monger in me wants Jacob to be evil because I love putting my MC through hell. (:

Rate MC and your similarities on a scale of 1-10, 1 being “MC is nothing like me” to 10 being “MC is ttly a self-insert lol”:

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe a 6? Lee and I have similarities, but I made him with the intent of playing a character instead of myself. His competitive nature and ADHD tendencies are definitely me, but I’m not nearly as sociable as him haha. Lee’s got a loud, type-aish personality. I’m introverted AF and pretty mellow.

Favourite Side Quest:

The Celestial Ball was wonderful. I loved playing through it, and I was so happy that Rowan was a date option. (If only they were included in the other dating TLSQs, sigh.) An honorable mention goes to Adventures in Curse-breaking aka the latest TLSQ. Loved the friendship vibes among the group.

Least Favourite Side Quest:

I’ll be honest; I don’t remember the Knighthood TLSQ in the slightest. I also thought the Weird Sisters one was meh, but at least I have vague memories of that one. An honorable mention goes to the ending of the All-Wizard Tournament TLSQ. I’m sorry, but you can’t convince me that MC would be happy about winning after nearly losing another friend (or whatever you consider Merula) to the Forbidden Forest. My MC was livid at Dumbledore for the shit he pulled, and he’s not even post-Year 6 Part 18 yet. And yeah, I know it’s technically a Year 5 TLSQ, but keep in mind that this came out shortly after Part 18 dropped and was referenced multiple times in the side quest for those caught up with the Main Story. The wound was still fresh and it just felt wrong to me.

Deme Rates Villagers, Part 4: Bulls and Cows

Disclaimer: Images are from the wiki, all good dogs, my ratings are mainly just there because “Deme gives her abstract thoughts on villagers” is hardly a catchy thing.

How now, brown cow? I’m asking because it’s time for me to rate some animals! These are both fairly small categories, so I’m jamming them together because it is odd to me that they are not together.

Angus

...Well, this is a bull, I guess. He’s got a little hair. Color scheme is pretty basic, not bad, he’s got a little bit of hair, he’s got maybe eyelashes? Or wrinkles? I’m not clear. He sure exists.

Choice / USDA Grading Scale

Belle

Belle is sure a cow. Just a cute little cow with nice eyes, which honestly? Works. I feel sad that we never saw Belle again, probably because there’s another villager that looks just like her, except without the cute eyes.

Also, she makes me think about a Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon-style Bubble Cow.

Bessie

A blue cow. Funnily enough, she has a nearly identical fella, who I think of as kind of a twin brother, who has made it further through the series’ progression than she has. This is a pattern with cows? Weird identical doubles, one of which was abandoned?

Carrot

Oh, hey, she’s like some sort of odd, not entirely developed, food villager! Like, she’s not full-on Tangy or Ketchup, but she’s carrot-colored and carrot-named, and that makes me grin. I feel like improvements to her model could make her even cuter, it’s a shame we’ve never seen her again. Food villagers are good, actually.

Chuck

He’s not a brown cow, but he is a brown bull. He’s kind of Angus, but angrier and with less going for his design.

Not Even Choice / Beef

Coach

Finally, a fun bovine who still exists! Coach, with his illusion of 5 o’clock shadow and his big, hooky eyebrows, really does have a coach-ish vibe. Not, like, Survivor Coach, but that high school teacher who teaches some random subject of little importance, mainly there to coach a sports team or something. Which is odd, because the man I think of in this slot -- though there were quite a few at my High School, but only one who really liked being called “coach,” and he taught study skills (on my schedule due to my schedule being absolutely bonkers in my Junior and Senior years. I spent about half of those classes sitting outdoors near the window, psychiatric orders. We all understood I didn’t need anything it was providing, and so could goof off.) -- was clean-shaven. I have limited ability to recall faces, so I cannot tell you about his eyebrows. Either way, this Coach gives me that vibe, and so, I smile with a certain sentimental fondness. I am sure he would remind everyone in the classroom that he is making them do ACT prep because Coach loves them. I am sure he does.

High School Study Skills Coach / Coaches That Come To Mind (So, below Survivor Coach, but above Cartoon Coaches)

Now we’re on a roll! After much deliberation, I have decided that Naomi is cool. Naomi is a good example of cartoony kissy lipped villagers, done with enough extra style that the lips feel like part of a package with her blunt-cut hair and her vivid eyeliner. One gets the sense of a particularly editorial supermodel or something off of her, which is the sort of character-building vibe I like a lot in an Animal Crossing villager, and it makes the contrast of her vivid make-up and vivid fur into something that feels like a thing, you know?

Fabulous, darling / Snooties

Norma

Oh, isn’t she cute! She’s just got this very rubber-hose era of animation with her eyes, which just makes her adorable. Otherwise, she is just a cute cow. I think I considered her for if I did a Harvest Moon-themed town, because you kind of need a cow, and I like her more than Tipper, below, because Norma has funky little eyes. Honestly, I probably did her a disservice by not marking her as my favorite cow villager when I filled out a meme, but I suppose I wasn’t thinking.

7/10! A real rating for just a cute cow.

Oxford

Well, he gives me very little to have an opinion on, but I like his heavy brow.

Is she multicolored, almost like a cow Bob? Don’t know, don’t really have a feeling, will never see her again.

Rodeo

Look at this fantastic hellbeast! He and Roscoe the horse make a good pair of demon creatures. In Rodeo’s case, he is helped by his tiny, high up eyes, which are beady red eyes you could imagine shining in the darkness of some sort of underworld... The big smile makes it kinda goofy, but that’s kinda good.

666/10

Stu

Hey, it’s Bessie, but a boy. Like, if he were named Babe, I would applaud a concept, but I don’t know they were going for a big blue ox thing. I don’t know what Stu and Bessie are about. Why was only Stu saved from the dustbin of time, and Bessie abandoned? I call foul!

T-Bone

Naming a bull for a type of steak and then doing nothing with that, is kinda weird, send tumblr post. Also, why are his eyes positioned there? They are too big and tall for that. Why are his eyes trying to escape his skull? Why do eyes want to be free?

Put those things back in the section of their face where they came from / or so help me!

Tipper

So, Tipper is the other ordinary Holstein cow. She started appearing in Wild World, right after Belle stopped appearing. Why? What’s with that? I put her down as my favorite cow at some point, but I think I am wrong. And baffled. I will add, though, that she’s pretty alright for a normal little cow. Her sleepy eyes and smile give her a dopey but peaceful feeling. And she still reminds me of a Story of Seasons classic bubble cow.

Bubble Cow 2/2

Verdun

Another villager I never could have seen. His eyes make him feel, not unlike a few other villagers from days of yore, like a Conker’s Bad Fur Day character. It’s not a bad look.

Nintendo / 64 (Technically, as an E+ character, he was for the Gamecube. But Conker was for the 64, so here we are.)

Vic

Oh, I just realized, right at this moment, that the dark brown of the bottom of his face is probably meant to evoke a big Viking-y beard, isn’t that precious? Because of course he has a viking theme, which turns his bull horns into the horns of a helmet, which is just fantastic. I love it. And he has freckles! Vic is great, I’m happy to close this post off on my realizing something fun about a villager I like!

So, the cows and bulls were... Not my favorite, but they sure are mysterious. So many odd doubles half-forgotten. Why? I feel like I need to unravel a mystery.

Deme Rates Villagers: Part 3, Bears

I’m giving my rating on all the villagers based primarily on their designs, though if I have a personal feeling, I’ll put it down as well. Please note that, with one (joking) exception, I love Animal Crossing’s villagers. They’re all good dogs, Bront, event the ones who are not dogs. So this is on a curve, and done in nit-picking good humor, so let’s just have fun! images are from the wiki, and so are going to be somewhat large or irregularly-sized. My scale is made up, and the points aren’t real.

Beardo

In his defense, Japanese has the same word for beard and mustache. That aside....Look at this ridiculous boy! Look at his curly muttonchops! His funky eyes! His fine mustache! Eyebrows! He’s very silly and I like it, and I think he stands easily as my favorite of the large bears.

Charlise

...She sure is green. And not a good green. It’s not good when Pokemon does it, it’s not good here. On the upside, I like her mouth. On the downside, I dislike her little yellow cheeks.

Chow

Hm. Hm. Hm. Hm. I... don’t know what to make of Chow. Pros: That is sure a face full of character and expression! I don’t really like the pink, though, and I’m not sure that the expression combo of the long, flat eyes and the chubby-cheeked mouth quite do it for me... Also, apparently he has an absolutely horrifying set of teeth in some art/expressions? But that kind of loops it back around to almost working for me... Almost.

Curt

Look at that thin little unibrow, those grumpy eyes. I don’t get the bandage, but I feel like it adds a mood and some extra character to his otherwise plain, but aesthetically pleasing, design. Without personal attachment he’s not special, but I like him well enough.

X-bandage / Knee Bandage, whatever that means.

Dozer

Another villager not seen since the days of Animal Crossing. Look at that unibrow. He has nothing else, but he does have that.

Eh / 10. You have to work a little bit harder than just a unibrow to earn my praise, sometimes.

Grizzly

Simple, harmonious, eyebrows. But a little too plain, needing maybe just one thing more. The yellow eyes are a nice touch.

Groucho

Pros: His funny mouth, his worried little eyebrows.

Cons: His colors don’t really mesh, the swipes add character but the character collectively doesn’t mesh.

Does he need one of those X-shaped Bandages? / 10

Ike

Here’s a villager who got saved by the amiibo card! The spikes are good, the orange feels kind of random... Look, it’s hard to give a rating for a guy like this, where it’s all one big vast expanse and I have no ability to really make a fake rating, either.

Klaus

Oh, now here’s something! Quite a Roman-looking bear, isn’t he? His nose is detailed in a way that gives most of his face a lot of definition, and he has sandals, of all things! The hair has a nice little stylistic flourish. The name doesn’t quite work, but the rest of him is charmingly on-point, in a silly but full of character way. He’s no Beardo, but I like him.

Let the game be ventured! / You, too, my child? (Or, if you convert it to metric, The die is cast. / et, tu, Brute? )

Nate

Remember how I said it takes more than a unibrow to please me? Well, here we are! Freckles! Surprise little dot eyes! A glorious unibrow that’s basically a unibrow+! I don’t even mind it being this odd green color, because it proclaims it quite dramatically. Nate has a simple charm, I respect that.

Paula

Man, what is Paula’s deal? I feel like they were going for something, with the hair and the little headband, but I don’t know what. As it stands, she’s just OK.

Pinky

Pinky breaks every single pattern I lay out when looking at a villager I like (I like faces with distinct, sometimes goofy character, I like concepts beyond ‘animal, but colorful’), and I like her anyway! It’s a good shade of pink, and she’s cute. Her eyes are fixed to an angle, which I don’t really like, but aren’t so egregious that it weirds me out.

eight / 10, smash all the rules.

Teddy

I feel a strange calm looking at him. He’s nothing truly special, but I feel a sense of peace with his sleepy eyes and his big square eyebrows. Shaped like a friend.

Deeply Serene / 10

images with her with her eyes open reveals cute little dot eyes. The blushy nose definition is good. I have no ability to explain why this puts a smile on my face; I think it combines a nice naturalistic sense of polar bear with a cartoony, simplistic cuteness, and she’s just absolutely adorable.

Ursula

This comes close to working for me; on an intellectual level, freckles is good, and her eyes are nice. But somehow, the final point of something to just put a smile on my face is not there.

The bears are pretty alright! Beardo is my obvious favorite, but I was surprised by how much I like, say, Tutu.
