I'm curled up in bed with Le Covid and feeling pretty out of it, so obviously it's time for some Random Daredevil (Netflix) Opinions:
> Brett Mahoney is a great character and I wish we got to see more of him. Him and Foggy, him and Matt, him and Bess, just - gimme. Maybe some scenes from his POV, giving us a closer look at his thoughts on Daredevil, vigilantism, the state of Hell's Kitchen, the state of the NYPD, having so many of his colleagues turn out to be working for Fisk, etc.
> A flashback scene to the Incident, from the perspective of Hell's Kitchen residents, would have been cool. Wouldn't necessarily even have to include the main characters - just give us a sense of how it was for them. It was such a defining event for the neighborhood, you know?
> I don't believe the Netflix shows had to be referencing the greater MCU all the time, and I know it wouldn't have been part of the plot, but it would have been interesting to see Matt or Foggy or both talk some about the Sokovia Accords in the first episode or two of the Defenders (since that takes place not long after). Matt has to have so many thoughts and feelings on it as an Enhanced vigilante and a lawyer, same as Foggy as someone who keeps company with multiple Enhanced vigilantes and is a lawyer who specifically deals in their defense. Or maybe Foggy does - I haven't seen Luke Cage or Iron Fist, or S3 of Jessica Jones, so I don't know if it came up in those with him specifically discussing it. But either way, I'd really love Matt's take. The mega rant would be just *chef's kiss*
> Actually, it would have been cool to see the same from Karen. You just know she has some heated things to say on the subject, and it'd be cool to see her and Matt going off about it together, or maybe even work it in as part of a scene where Ellison gives her shit for 'that Accords op ed you wrote'
> Some kind of flashback scene to young Matt where we get to see him feeling connected to his neighborhood would also have been nice. His love of it and need to defend it is such a huge part of his character, but I feel like we don't get much in the way of seeing where that comes from.
> I headcanon that Claire shot Matt up with all kinds of heavy-duty antibiotics after the Fisk fight because dude fell into the Hudson with a bunch of wide-open wounds. The Hudson. Blech.

Hi! Would it be cool to request Preference for the Defenders as parents? It’d also be really cool if you could include like Claire, Ward, Joy, Trish, Malcom, Misty, Foggy, Karen, Colleen. You obviously can pick which ones you add if you don’t want to do all of them. I just really love the “side” characters. I think they give the Defenders a lot more depth. You can include Frank if you want, but I feel like that’d be super sad. Anyway. Thank you in advance, sorry if I requested too much ☺️
Lets do this thing. There were only two people from your listthat I didn’t think I could do justice.
Matt Murdock
He’s a really good dad! He’s got a really great example to liveup to and at the same time he knows the mistakes that his dad made. In allhonesty he may be doomed to repeat the mistakes. His dad risked his life to tryand keep his son safe, and Matt would and will risk his life to save his ownchild. It would be really hard for Matt to give up his life as Daredevil, butfor his kid he would do anything. He doesn’t want his kid to end up an orphanlike he was.
Jessica Jones
Jessica isn’t a great mother right away. To be quite honest shedoesn’t really know what the heck she’s doing. She had some not so great rolemodels growing up so she doesn’t have anyone from her past to look to as anexample. So she makes a lot of mistakes, but she does the best damn job she canto learn and provide her kid with a better life than she had. She often looksto other people for support especially Trish and Malcolm but also sometimes theother Defenders.
Luke Cage
Another good dad! He already cares so much for his community andthe rest of his teammates and he just has so much more love and affection for alittle kid that is actually his!! I think he’d be a real dad’s dad. Makingreally dumb dad jokes and letting his kids climb all over him. And I think he’dprobably be an overall chill dad. He doesn’t want to be overbearing and he’sliterally bullet proof so I feel like he isn’t constantly worried for the kid’ssafety like some of the other parents.
Danny Rand
I think that Danny would kind of be one of thosegoofy dads who is super involved in his kid’s life. He wants his kid to havethe most fun and the best life possible. Danny had to miss out on so much ofhis life and he doesn’t want his kid to miss anything. He might be a littleoverbearing at times and he can be pushy. But he’s also very open to listeningto his kid and actually changing his parenting if it makes the kid upset. A+dad who maybe doesn’t always know what he’s doing but tries his best.
Claire Temple
She already has a bunch of adult children so I thinkshe’d be a pretty fantastic mom. She has been through hell and back so she’sliterally ready for anything. Her kid is throwing a temper tantrum in thestore? That’s fine she has groceries to get. Oh my goodness her kid just felloff the jungle gym and is bleeding and maybe has a broken arm. She’ll calm youright down and take you to the hospital. No big deal. She’s also veryunderstanding and won’t discount any of her kid’s feelings. She’s not a pushover, but she will do her best to make her kid happy.
Ward Meachum
Not the best dad in the world but certainly not theworst. He’s not a very emotionally available person on the planet so hestruggles to connect with his children. He also has an extremely hard timebecause his own dad was just the biggest piece of shit in the entire world soWard struggles with actually being assertive? He feels like if he tells his kidto do something he’s ruining their lives but he’s also afraid that if hedoesn’t do anything he won’t be around for his kids life. It’s a struggle butover time he improves.
Trish Walker
Trish is the kind of mom that will let her kid takewhatever path they want. Trish’s mom basically micromanaged every aspect of herdaughter’s life and Trish doesn’t want her own kid to feel like they’re trappedin their own home. Plus Trish has the money to spend on all of her kid’s dreamsso why shouldn’t let them go for. They go through pretty much every sportavailable in New York and they may have been through several instruments aswell. Trish holds her child’s happiness above everything else.
Misty Knight
I feel like Misty would be kind of a strict mom. Shehas seen the lowest of the low on the streets that she has portrayed and she does not want her kid to end up likethem. So she has some pretty strict rules and is not afraid to ground them ifthey disobey the rules. But don’t take that to mean that she isn’t a good mom.She is a very good mom and loves her children very much and would die for them. But she is not about to let them grow up to be pieces of shit.
Foggy Nelson
Foggy Nelson is a goof ball and he’s a great father, but he needs supervision. We’ve seen him be stern in the TV show especiallywhen Matt was risking his life and bleeding out on his couch, but I think thatFoggy might let his kid get away with too much because he’s afraid of drivinghis kid away. But paired with a partner who can discipline their children he’dbe fantastic.
Karen Page
Karen is a nurturing person already so I think she’dbe pretty great with kids of her own. That being said we have seen to whatlengths she will go through to keep herself and the people closest to her safe.So it’s easy to say she would kill and be killed to keep her child safe. She’dbe really good at passing on her skills to her kids. Teaching them to read andwrite early and making sure they could survive if they ever had to.
Colleen Wing
Colleen is a very protective mother andshe is fiercely loyal. She’s been betrayed a few times and she’s not about tolet her child ever feel betrayed by her. She’s the mom who is sitting in theprincipal’s office arguing with the principal about how it was the other kid’s fault that they got knockedout. At the same time Colleen is a very disciplined and structured person so Ican imagine she passes that onto her children. They have bed times and they gothrough the basic training that she did when she was younger.
