#mp answers #i've been trying so hard not to be annoying to my bnha friends but if you will allow me to push this for this ask let me say 🙏 #if you're afraid of the episode count for one piece the manga is a lot quicker read while being just as enjoyable because the art style is #an actual delight. its great its fantastic im absolutely in love with it #the series is soooo good and i know luffy can seem unappealing to people before they start but he's just SUCH a great character & continues #to be even now. the story is SO GOOD the characters are SO GOOD... theres so much lore and world building that its insane #if you read the manga we get 'cover stories' on what's going on with previous characters to see what theyre up to even though we moved on #from where we left them. a lot of these cover stories blend into the main story so well its just seamless #there's one where we get introduced to a character we dont see hundreds of episodes into the anime and they show up like; during the second #saga. the series is about traveling to other islands and every single arc has been tied to another in some way or form that shows up later #even if its sagas and sagas later- it still becomes relevant again!! it's a huge ongoing story and there isnt a single arc that feels like #it has no purpose (sans filler in the anime-but even then!! some filler arcs are really entertaining!) #it's emotional! its sad! its downright stupid and silly but GOD... you can feel the love that oda put into this series and his characters #and the emotions in the expressions and the messages the story gives off it just makes me UEUHGHHAHGHH!!! #it's all about the adventure and the romance of it all! its about the freedom it brings and bringing freedom to others! #its a series where treasure should be a focus given its pirates and the its a giant treasure hunt for the one piece and yet! and yet so man #of the characters treasures are things that are not coins and gems but people and promises and family and and #im going to EXPLODE i love one piece

When it comes to John, I have zero interest in condemning him. First of all, it's boring. You mean destroying the world and lying to your friends about it is bad? Shocking. Groundbreaking character work.

Second of all, I'm just not all that comfortable with condemnation in general, not when it comes to whole-ass people. Actions, for sure. I am ready to wholeheartedly condemn pretty much every decision this man has ever made, but I'm only comfortable doing that with a side of compassion for the man himself. Tamsyn said once in an interview that some of the discussion she's seen about Harrow is unintentionally very cruel to people with mental illnesses, and I feel similarly seeing a lot of the discussion around John. If I'm going to try to figure out where he's coming from, why he did the things he did, and what he thought he was accomplishing by doing them, I'm not at all interested in coming at those questions with contempt or disgust.

To me, the main question when it comes to John is: What do you do when you feel that you're unforgivable? That you've fucked up so completely no one will ever love you again, unless you lie and trick them into it? How do you deal with shame? And while part of the answer is definitely "Holy shit, not like that," what I'm most interested in is: what should he have done instead? At what points in his narrative could he have changed his course? And at what point, if ever, did he become right about it being impossible for him to dial it back and turn around?

The minute the song starts I am freaking sobbing. Its not a sad song, but it makes me explode with emotion. Yes everything will be okay! We're going to win! February Reads

Hello you’re now getting a slightly chaotic rundown of all the books I read this month. Enjoy.

Gearbreakers by Zoe Hana Mikuta: YA sapphic dystopian mecha. The plot was chaotic and these children did murder without blinking an eye. The internal conflict was good though and it was an engaging read. I enjoyed the character interactions. Needed another round of edits though. Got me out of my reading slump.

Godslayers by Zoe Hana Mikuta: Gearbreakers 2, electric boogaloo. More chaos. Less interesting character interactions. Someone does brain surgery on herself??? Characters randomly killed off. Main characters would have major injuries that were never addressed again despite being interesting opportunities for character development.

What Moves the Dead by T. kingfisher: I rediscover novellas, this is horror that hit the things I’m most afraid of. Good writing and interesting. Some good ol’ pronoun fuckery as a bonus.

What Feasts at Night by T Kingfisher: (what moves the dead 2) more novellas!! Less scary for me specifically but still good. I’m attached to these characters now.

Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey: Queer librarian cowboys in a dystopian future. Another novella. Nothing to say here, it was fun but I wasn’t at all invested in the romance.

Phoenix Extravagant by Yoon Ha Lee: I REALLY liked Yoon Ha Lee’s first two Machineries of Empire books, but unfortunately between this and Revenant Gun, this just cemented that I don’t think I’ll be reading more of his stuff

Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas: Yes yes yes yes yes. Exactly the kind of weird, descriptive, dreamlike story I adore. Towards the end I was laughing a little as I saw what seemed to be Handmaids Tale influences (I can never escape it). A lot of people dislike this book but it really worked for me because I’m more than happy for things to never be explained. This isn’t a book about a mystery, it’s a book about the institutions we’ve built.

The Seep by Chana Porter: not what it says on the back. Got better when I just accepted that it was a story about grief, not alien takeover. There were some very interesting parts, some slightly goofy parts. I feel like it should have either been a little longer or really gone for novella style. I enjoyed it overall! I need a new genre now just called ‘body horror acceptance’. If you liked Annihilation you will appreciate this, though it’s much more character based.

What do you think Keith's dynamic would be with the other survivors if he were in the Savanna group?

I THINK ABOUT THIS ALL THE TIME-

Keith and Ellis are obviously best friends, and they can never shut the hell up when they're together. They're constantly talking, laughing, singing, just straight up having the best time ever. The others absolutely get double the amount of usual headaches, but at the very least they're glad to see Ellis is so happy to be talking to his buddy again. Plus, there's a lot more light in the group now that Keith and Ellis are bright balls of sunshine together. It's hard not to be optimistic about your chances when two of your teammates are constantly shouting WOOOOOO LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO

(Also everyone can definitely tell that Ellis and Keith are crushing on each other, and it melts everyone's hearts to see two idiots tiptoe around their feelings for each other like the stupidest ballerinas ever) ((#Kellis for life))

Keith and Rochelle would be absolutely adorable together. Ro treats Ellis as if he were a little brother and Keith is no different. Though, she'd probably treat Keith more like a muddy stray dog she found out in the rain one night. Rochelle thinks Keith is stupid and funny and she loves how he gives Nick noogies. Keith immediately takes a liking to Rochelle and wants to impress her with his stupid stunts. He's about to do a backflip off a cliff and he's like "RO!!! HEY RO ARE YOU WATCHING?? RO! WATCH!!! WATCH ME THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME!!"

Keith and Coach would be interesting, I think. I mean the obvious choice for a dynamic would be Coach going Dad Mode and being a sort of father figure to Keith, and honestly? I do like the idea, but I also feel like Keith and Coach would be BEST FRIENDS❗❗ Like, they both like rock music and sports and tasty food, they're both Big Boys™ with Big Hearts™ and I bet they'd have tons more in common. I can see them tossing a ball around in the yard before going inside to scarf down the biggest hamburgers anyone's ever seen. Then they stay up late laughing loud as fuck over jokes only southerners would get, and they accidentally keep the entire saferoom awake.

Keith and Nick would have the most fun dynamic in my opinion- Nick has already grown a tolerance for stupid countryfolk after spending so much time with Ellis, but he immediately recognizes that Keith is way more of a bastard than Ellis is. He audibly goes "ugghh" whenever Keith enters the room. The rest of the group has already made it very clear that they won't tolerate Nick's bitchiness if it's genuinely mean-spirited (lighthearted teasing is ok) so Nick isn't allowed to bully Keith as much as he'd like to. Keith, on the other hand, absolutely LOVES bullying Nick. He'll ruffle Nick's hair and wipe his dirty hands on Nick's sleeve just because it's funny. Despite their differences, Keith will openly admit he enjoys spending time with Nick because he's a total badass (and it's funny to tease him, Keith doesn't mean any harm by it anyways). Nick will try and convince everyone that he hates Keith with every fiber of his being, and everyone's like "sure Nick", because they know he was lying when he said he hated Ellis, and he's definitely lying again.

i think there's a lot of valid critique to make of how ada's character is portrayed & written especially with capcom's misogyny & their dependance on the cool sexy female character but i genuinely don't see how the remakes "fixed" ada's character by giving her a separate story/proper character motivation when those things already existed & were pretty heavy handedly given to the audience in RE4 (she tells them to the player verbatim) + the remake separate ways draws very heavily from ada's characterization in RE6 which was actually capcom's second/better executed foray into giving ada her own unique narrative that only scantly intersects with leon's, because the original separate ways was hastily put together & its story was relegated to ada interjecting her own thoughts between chapters. i'd argue the only appearance that fails ada the most is damnation because it's a rethread of 4 with less substance but even that movie gives the audience enough hints towards ada's purpose & the imbalance in her relationship with leon + the homoerotic fight scene with svetlana that there is at least something to enjoy

Saint, please don't discontinue the series, im sure many people have already said this and it's probably not going to change your mind but the amount of people that are invested in this story and are genuinely loving it is way more than the haters, its your story again and you can do whatever you want with it.
