Let's kick things off with a mega-giga ask compilation!

I've spent the last couple of days working through the backlog, and I've been able to answer some quite old asks that were spoilers at the time they were sent.

John entered the Medium shortly after Easter Sunday, and he did so by biting into an apple. Forget about the god tiers – his most powerful transformation is clearly Catholic Beast Mode.

To be honest, I don’t think I know enough about any Aspect to ‘get’ it.

If I had to choose, then I'd probably feel the most natural affinity for Life and/or Doom – and if was forced to pick one, I’d say I'm very slightly more drawn to Life, just based on vibes.

Number symbolism is just very flexible in general. All Hussie really had to do was introduce a few 'important' numbers, and the fandom could start finding them everywhere!

Based on ~ATH’s association with curses, as well as Sollux’s programming hobby, I think there’s a decent chance that Doom relates to coding in some way.

Coding is all about rules, so perhaps Doom, is, in fact, the aspect of rules and logic. I'm not sure why such an aspect would be named 'doom', but it's been obvious for a while that these aspect names aren't always literal.

Oh, there are official names for each color? That’s going to be helpful to disambiguate each blood caste, especially when we really start digging into troll culture and biology.

Yeah, I’m still not sure who this ship is supposed to represent.

They have Terezi’s eyes, but the hair and symbol look like Karkat’s. Plus, Nepeta hates this ship, which would make sense if it’s between her crush and someone other than her.

Honestly, my best guess is that it was meant to be Karkat, and the red eyes were just a mistake on Hussie’s part.

Aradia has real blue indigo blood in her veins, and it almost certainly belongs to Equius himself. He could have got it from a donor, but I personally doubt there was anyone else he could ask. Equius feels like he'd be an outsider, even to other indigo-bloods.

Feferi definitely had her doubts – but she must have believed that Eridan was dangerous to a certain degree, because that’s the basis of a moirallegiance.

Forced might not be the right word, but she certainly felt some amount of obligation to pacify him. She sure wasn’t in that relationship for the good of her health.

Yup. I’ve always held that Tavros never wanted anything to do with Vriska. He doesn't want to love or hate her - what he really wants is to live in a world where she doesn't exist.

Vriska’s refusal to accept this basic fact is one of the main reasons she’s decided to make his life a living hell.

If there were minor variations in blood color, the Empire probably wouldn’t want to acknowledge it, since the stratification of blood classes forms the basis of their society.

We haven’t seen any trolls besides our twelve (apart from Troll Will Smith) so we can’t compare the blood of two members of the same caste - but we can speculate. Human blood color is known to vary depending on its oxygenation level, and I imagine troll blood would reflect its current chemical composition in the same way.

Ooh, more fan aspects! These were a lot of fun to puzzle out the last time.

Law would be the aspect of command, instruction and agreement. An example power would be giving someone a simple rule they're compelled to follow, such as 'don't turn around'.

Dreams would be the aspect of ideas, motivation and symbolism. An example power would be the ability to detect people's idle thoughts - the things they're not even aware they're thinking about.

Might would be the aspect of growth, conflict and evolution. An example power would be the ability to temporarily enhance someone's Aspect abilities, at the cost of making those abilities harder to control.

Shape would be the aspect of form, encapsulation and topology. Shapeshifting is the most obvious application of this aspect, but it's appropriate.

Flow would be the aspect of persistence, momentum and continuity. An example power would be the ability to 'continue' something that has recently stopped. For example, if your PC ran out of power, they'd be able to keep it running for a while. The longer it had been previously running, the longer they could keep it running.

I do think it was the most emotional flash we’ve had, on the strength of the music alone. Savior of the Waking World goes hard as all hell.

Honestly, when WV started calling John a hero, and telling him to rise, it did start to give me some mild chills. Like, yeah – we know John’s a hero, but it feels extra special when it’s coming from someone who’s normally so irreverent.

Lightbox Expo 2023 is over!! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the table. I can't believe I sold out of both my sketchbooks AND my digimon fanbook... (multiple prints too?!)! I'm incredibly grateful... I will have a 2nd print run of both sketchbooks and online orders for the digimon book up in the next couple weeks so please keep an eye out for that!

I'm a little jaded like it's not that I don't enjoy going to cons but theres definitely a bunch that feel like just-another-con-weekend to me lol, sometimes it's more work than play I guess. But this con felt really different! For the first time in a while I left a convention feeling really thrilled and giddy that I had been there. The kind of feeling I used to get when I would table at anime cons in highschool! And I think a lot of that is the people I met and talked to and the overall vibes at the event. Oh also I literally just had surgery and going to this con is like the only thing ive done this week besides lay in bed and play Story of Seasons on the nintendo switch and I thought I would be in pain and miserable but actually I HAD SO MUCH FUN...!!!! even when i skipped after-hours socializing every night to go home early and sleep 12 hours lol. SO ANYWAYS. YEAH. IT'S CORNY. BUT I wanna say thank you again to everyone who stopped by the table. Especially all the coworkers and long time mutuals who I met in person for the first time this weekend!! And the long time followers who told me they have been following me since homestuck or naruto or whenever. And college classmates who I haven't seen since graduation, crazy talented underclassmen who I'd never met but stopped by to say hi... So many people who absolutely made my day. SPECIAL thank you to my table partner Emi who is the best and such a good sport and accommodating to the point that I feel ridiculous when she thanks me for anything. Hello, I'm a Homestuck and Good Omens fan and just saw your post about coffee. I came to the Homestuck fandom way late, though, and don't know what the coffee theory was. I was wondering if you'd be willing to share that story from the trenches if it's not too traumatic :)

I'll preface by saying, this all happened near about the time I began to step away from Homestuck, as this was late 2011 to early 2012. My recollection could very well be missing some juicier deets, because I always managed to avoid the worst of it. In all I had a pretty benign time floating about the Homestuck fandom, I'll say that. My knowledge is as a fly's.

If you want the short version: once upon a time, the Homestuck fandom was so stupid it had discourse over the way coffee was drawn in a single panel, because the stylistic choice used to show the way cheap potted coffee has that oil slick sheen on the top Really got the gamerz thinking Gamzee was putting troll blood in the coffee.

The long version is this: this Act was annoying. All the Acts had been annoying, there'd been rather more than six of them so far. The fandom's toxicity was at its most potent, and the main fandom exodus hadn't happened yet. But the stylistic choice brewing on page 4702 of A6I2 suggested a discourse was on the horizon, and it was the size of planet fucking Jupiter.

To understand the affairs of 2011/12 Homestucks, a few things are important to mention: first, nobody enjoyed Act 6. Ask anyone from the tumblr era First Wave, we all agreed that Cascade would have been a better place to start wrapping up the comic as a whole. When Act 6 opened introducing the alpha kids, a whole new plot derivative, and we all realized we'd have to go through the same slog again, that the story wasn't over, the collective exhaustion was palpable. SWATHS left unhappy; worse yet (for some), the alpha kids brought us away from the game of SBURB and the over-aching plot, to instead place our focus on their interpersonal relationships. It was a bad time to take your audience away from a well crafted climax.

Reading it now as a completed work makes this not so bad, because the book is wrote. You can consume it as a finished piece and clearly interpret a through line for yourself, start to finish. Skip it even, if you want. When you've no idea at what time the next update will come, while all the pieces remain necessary to tell the story, any pacing is bad pacing.

Second, while Homestucks are known for many things - all of them cringe - the one that goes overlooked most, in spite of the ripple effect we still feel from it today in every corner, is the sheer amount of over analyzing done to the story itself. Every panel, every inch of every pixel, was a part of a puzzle we all collectively made up. Theorizing was an integral part to the Update Culture era of Homestuck's fandom, that we Figure Out the Story, you had to be the one who predicted what came next. Impressive how none of us came up with some kind of fandom Nobel Peace Prize, for how much we lauded it as a lifetime achievement.

I'll give you, Homestuck does have a very rich narrative. Much of it, I'll favor, is even intentional. It made worldbuilding choices captivating enough to get people painting themselves grey, for fun, so surely it had a few right ideas in some places. And there's nothing wrong about analyzing your media, picking apart its references to tie together a background story, even if it's just one you make up based on how you experienced reading it. That's kind of the whole point of consuming art. It's to be discussed, share your personal conclusions on. Theory is the breath of creativity.

It's the whole part about wanting to be right, where Homestucks as a collective force wanted to start eating each other alive on the spot. We were fucking OBNOXIOUS with theory posting. I'll be honest with you, I really ate that kind of thing up, and even I was getting annoyed. People were beginning to stretch, likely to cope with becoming bored.

Finally, the sober Gamzee controversy. This came about a while before coffeegate, but the effect the inciting update had on Homestucks is comparable to a haunting. It was fucking chernobyl, and a bad day to be a nuclear scientist because now it was your problem. Vriska fans - equally insufferable, as we all were by some respect[1] - and Gamzee fans fought with each other VEHEMENTLY, just to see whos gang was better. Keep that in the background of your mind as the theme music to what's playing. Everyone was anxiously wondering what had happened to Gamzee, because for the last several some-odd panels, we'd lost the boy. He was full of murderous intent, we were down to precious few characters on the meteor left, and we'd lost the boy.

So here we are. It's 2011. We're standing now at the end of the world, we've lost the boy for several panels, and finally the plot is trying to move along. We're all tired, and irritated, and divorced, doing this song and dance one more time but god willing the LAST TIME, when a joke about the look of shitty potted coffee gets made.

And some harbinger of the fucking apocalypse takes to tumblr dot com, drafting up a post about how Gamzee - living in the meteor walls - is putting troll blood into the coffee. Because, otherwise, how is Kanaya as a rainbow drinker doing so fine? Dave called the taste metallic, like blood. Something something long forgotten theories about trolls blood here something something. People would chime in to say "that's just how coffee looks", somehow it dissolved into actual discourse of people violently discussing back and forth how it could ONLY BE BLOOD, because coffee drawn in a prior panel UPDATES AGO didn't have the film on top, only now AFTER SOBER GAMZEE. Etcetera. It was just the worst case of reading too hard into something that you done ever did see.

Shortly following this, many people who were already growing exhausted with Homestuck's narrative direction at this point decided to take this coffee theory as their sign the flood was coming and to board the ark or learn how to swim. Anyone who learned to swim subsequently left during the exodus of 2015.

Again, my memory is pretty hazy. Thanks to Requiem Cafe, surprisingly difficult to google these days. Certainly another old still following me will have something more to add that I'm forgetting, as your handy dandy unreliable narrator.

Three (+1) Facts About Me

1.) I first got into art as a little kid, 4 or 5, but eventually stopped practicing once I was around 7 or 8. Though I would still doodle little characters on paper and things like that. I only truly got back into art when two people(who are now my closest friends) pushed me to get back into at 12 or 13. I still have drawings from back then that have been accidentally archived, which I'm embarrassed of but still hold some nostalgia for. I also joined tumblr around that time, as I was obsessed with Voltron and Homestuck(embarrassing but I still have Homestuck somewhere in my heart.) I'm thankful I never posted my art back then as much as I think they are good to look at to see how far I've progressed as an artist though I doubt I will ever post them. If, however, people are very curious, I may post one or two.

2.) My first ever forays into video games was Pac-Man on the Gameboy. I LOVED the shit out of that game as a kid, the next few games I got introduced to was World At War and the original Modern Warfare Series, something my sibling enjoyed and I would watch them play Zombies as they always hogged the console lol. I was also introduced to San Andreas for the Original XBOX along with Saints Row 2 for the XBOX 360 and Fallout 3. I played Saints Row 3 and even got my parents to preorder the 4th one in the series when I was 8, and could barely stand over the Gamestop counter. I think also my first case of gender envy was probably when I played Origins in Black Ops 2 and saw Rictofen in the beginning cutscene. I LOVE POST-APOCALYPTIC GAMES.

3.) I love reading, writing, and watching horror movies in my free time, my first ever horror movie was actually "Ghost Ship" and I was also extremely interested in the SAW movies and still am years after. I would like to think my favorite movie genre is Horror, as I can't find myself interested in anything else. I love sci-fi books and fantasy romance. Though for writing I mostly keep myself to Fan-Fiction rather than my own works, just isn't as fun and interesting.

The name cat comes from the mob you can discover in Final Fantasy "Gimme Cat" who asks you for a diamond and when given runs off with it without giving anything in return. I fell in love with the mob as my friend streamed it and decided to make it my new name on Discord as as soon as Discord forced everyone to make a new user/rename themselves someone had taken my original name. Though I find this one, much more fitting.

20. how homestuck has affected me in real life

buckle in cuz it's STORYTIME. homestuck has done crazy shit for me.

so hmm some background ... i was raised by devout evangelical protestants. my parents r not like .... politically conservative at least, but growing up in a community that is so strongly associated w political conservatism certainly had some Effects on me. i honestly think being raised in this environment was like being brainwashed for the first like 12 years of my life. and one of the things i got brainwashed into thinking was that Gay Is Bad!

when i started middle school i made some rad new friends. these people are still some of my closest friends today. and they were also big into tumblr stuff which included homestuck (this was 2013 for context) and Being Gay. holy fuck did these people give me a lot of grace. if ur reading this you know who you are and i love you dearly. i owe you guys my life <3

i didn't actually start reading homestuck till may 2014, but it was unlike anything i'd ever read before - there were SWEARS. there were GAY PEOPLE. and holy fuck was it cool!!! i couldn't stop reading it! it was a huge turning point for little 13 year old me. it was the beginning of me turning from a little brainwashed christian kid with a stick up their ass into a queer adult who is Just Chillin. btw the specific thing that turned me around on being gay is penis ouija and i think that's beautiful. davekat turned me gay

I tried Gild Tesoro and could never really get him going like I wanted, unfortunately. I write Carina from film gold though!

I haven't watched the movie in forever but I never got that much interested in Shiki. I don't think I'd be any good roleplaying him! I'd probably have to rewatch the movie to see if I could get interested because I don't remember much of him tbh

HOMESTUCK

I also used to write Doc Scratch in the past, but had too many bad encounters rp wise to pick him up ever again. You wouldn't believe the amount of Rose players wanting a piece of him. I do not have fond memories of my time roleplaying Doc Scratch, except for one really amazing Handmaid I used to write with. when she left, I just lost all motivation because she was genuinely the only rper I enjoyed playing Scratch against.

I also wrote Lord English, and for similar reasons as Scratch, gave up on him. The reason being too many people wanting to play the kids against him in a not so safe scenario. Tumblr was a lot wilder 12 years ago. Not a good thing.

As for midnight crew, I played them all, but specially Spades Slick in both AU and canon version, Diamond Droogs, and Kingpin. I played deuce and boxcars too, but I favored the other 3.

If you think a homestuck character, whether it's a felt (snowman my beloved), midnight crew, or troll, I probably played it. The only homestuck characters I didn't play are the kids, with exception of Bro Strider if he counts. Any others I might have played (I think I tried Dirk once) hasn't lasted more than a month on any of my rosters.

Anyway, homestuck. Had 32 blogs at some point, 20 of which were iterations of Sollux or The Grand Highblood/Dualscar. I was obsessed with them. Lost interest in Sollux though, but if you look at my blog, you'll still see GHB and Dualscar on the list lmao. Haven't roleplayed them in forever but I cannot give up on them. They're dear to me. GHB and Dualscar were my first homestuck muses hehe

My #1 post of 2022

people used to HATE misa back in the 00/10s, but nowadays i see a lot of posts about how shes cool and pretty and a girlboss. i think the reason opinions on misa changed was partly because people realised that most of the hate towards her was internalised misogyny. so much of it was because she was badly written as one of the only women in the series, and was dismissed because she got in the way of the men. shes feminine and loud and clingy and most of the 00/10s teens who liked death note were either misogynists or pick-mes.

part of it was obviously shipping, part of it was people being annoyed that she was with light when they were attracted to him, a very small part of it was because she does terrible things.

but the thing that i think changed the most was people realising that she was abused. a lot of death note fans who are women love to empower misa and i think its because so many of them have been in situations similar to hers.

she went to light with nothing left. no family, one friend who she was willing to kill, and blood on her hands. she wanted him to love her so bad because if he didnt, she had nothing left. she would rather be used and feel like she has a purpose than go back home.

then, for a huge portion of the time that rem was alive to protect her, she didnt need or know she needed protecting. when she regained her memory, rem was already dead. she had nobody on her side, and was completely isolated, except for light. and if she left, he'd kill her.

in their home life, we see light shouting at misa, still constantly berating her, and spending as little time with her as possible. if she leaves, she might die, but the abuse stops. if she stays, she gets shouted at, but she has a purpose, and she keeps her memories, and she lives, and she has somewhere to live and the task force members to talk to.

for so so many people who were/are abused, this feels really familiar. of COURSE shes clingy. of COURSE shes jealous and trying to fight takada. anything or anyone that might take away light is something that might take away everything she lives for. and she, like a lot of other people, would do and put up with terrible shit just to survive.

misa is a bad person. but equally as importantly, shes an abused person. shes not clingy, shes not annoying, shes not a dumb woman, and shes not an idiot. shes a desperate woman who was repeatedly put down and is trying to survive abuse.

the concept of being “overqualified” for a job is a construct of capitalism, because employers want their employees to be dependent on them so they can get away with more shit without losing workers. if you have more qualifications than necessary for the position, especially if you have a lot more, you could very easily get a different, better-paying or higher-quality job if you become unsatisfied with your current one. if you just barely meet the qualifications for your current job, almost any others that you would be able to find would be a downgrade, likely with a lower rank and pay.

if you go back far enough in this blog's history you will actually see that it began* as a Magnus Archives blog! i have indeed listened to the podcast and read the transcripts and even written some fic for it!

(*i actually joined tumblr back in the early 20teens if not a bit earlier, bc i may in fact have been on here a bit before i graduated high school, and started out posting deeply cringeworthy TWEWY fic before doing a hard pivot to Homestuck, where i remained for a number of years

but then my blog got nuked in the great porn ban debacle, i took a break from tumblr for the sake of my own mental health for a few years, and then when i decided to come back i figured it would be easier to just sign up under an email address i actually have access to as opposed to the one i used 12 years ago and create a new blog rather than try to go through and resolve or remove every sensitive content flag in the old one, so i did a bit of url transferring trickery and now here i am, edoro 2.0

this blog is only a couple of years old and the first things on it are TMA posts, but i cannot even remotely truthfully say that's how i got my start on tumblr)

here's my commentary that i made while listening:

!! DISCLAIMER !!

some of this will be a bit critical of the music created by homestuck fans. i'm not going after them as a person, i'm just saying what i don't like about their music that's probably 10 years old. i don't mean any bad faith towards the musicians who put their time and effort into creating the songs i've ranked.

vols. 1-4: obviously uuhhhh not the greatest start. mostly just bc it was 2009 and electronic music was Very limited. i ended up placing a bunch of these songs in higher tiers than i should've bc of that. nothing in these albums are very Good except for doctor and sburban jungle but it wasn't a bad listening experience

midnight crew drawing dead: did you know that kevin regamey made a song for this album? yep. the sound director of tunic. this album is pretty primitive. it's a bunch of electronic jazz imitations and they all blur together. very forgettable

vol. 5: this one is really weird. on the one hand it has some of my favorite homestuck music in general. on the other hand a Lot of the tracks suck. it shows how open and fan-friendly homestuck was back in the day. everyone got on the album, even if their song was just a sped-up version of endless climb

alternia: it's just toby fox. what do you want me to say. i enjoyed the video game inspired ones far better than i did as a 12 year old (i didn't play any video games besides minecraft/coolmath until a few years ago)

squiddles!: man this was a weird concept. no huge bangers in here imo, but some tracks are alright. definitely should be getting more attention. although some tracks did not fit their title at all like you had ONE job and that job was to provide a track that sounds like a squiddle afternoon

the felt: same thing as midnight crew where a lot of the tracks are very similar, but it's a lot better because reversed sound effects are a Much Better theme than crappy electronic jazz. also some really great tracks in here

vol. 6: this is the one with all the meme tracks. best songs are frost and obviously megalovania. on a separate note i was prepared to put courser All the way at the top with its fantastic opening and then it got into the actual song and i was thoroughly disappointed

strife!: tensei's specialty (in homestuck) is metal remixes of songs so he made a whole album of them! it's alright. i liked atomic bonsai. all the tracks are pretty unpolished. again, it was 2010, who am i supposed to blame.

alterniabound: very solid all around. not much to say lmao medium: wow this album is Very Good! half of the songs made it into my "favorites" tier so i think that speaks for itself. idk how clark powell did it but the ambience created by these tracks is really beautiful.

mobius trip and hadron kaleido: i'm gonna be real and say it. i don't like this one. it makes more sense when you consider what inspired the album--early 2010s pop SUCKS. plus michael bowman's singing voice is not great in this context

vol. 7: the edgy one! some cool ideas here, but most of them just really weren't great. or maybe i've just heard them too many times. black rose green sun would probably be higher up if i didn't listen to it so much as a 13 year old

sburb: i never listened to this album before and I Really Wish I Had. really creative and beautiful piano solos. go give it a listen the wanderers: another really underrated one! it gives so much life to the exiles

prospit and derse: i had the hsmusicwiki artist commentary pages pulled up while i listened to this and i'm not sure if solatrus's comments made me rank these tracks lower. they lack polish and he seems to agree, but maybe if these were new to me the songs would've been ranked higher. the concept is awesome though and it was handled pretty well

vol. 8: it might be the overlistening thing (Again), but this album has really not aged well for me. the songs honestly all seem rushed….. nothing is great

song of skaia: another album that sadly evaded my tween self due to bandcamp crap. it's awesome. very poetic that the original composer of skies of skaia would create a mini-album that brings the song to life in its full majesty at the end of the webcomic's first half

coloUrs and mayhem: man. this one. how is it this good? it's banger after banger after banger and it doesn't stop and i love it. they should've given homestuck to the fans when they had the chance vol. 9: an overall REALLY solid album wow

symphony impossible to play: i don't talk about it enough but i love overture canon edit and it's been my dream for years to arrange it for concert band--or really any of the four amazing instrumental tracks in the album. not that i would EVER have the guts to give it to my band directors (part self consciousness about my ability to write music and part bc it's from freaking homestuck) but it's good to have a sense of accomplishment y'know?

one year older: this guy made a whole album of chill piano tracks. actually it only has 3 of those. the other songs are outstanding as well. without a doubt my favorite homestuck album

genesis frog: ??????? how is this?? this good? it's such a wonderful classical-sounding (dw not actual classical bc that is Boring as Hell) piece that encapsulates the wonder of homestuck's environments. i am in awe

cherubim: prospit&derse walked so this album could run. that being said, the similar tracks being next to each other kinda dampens the excitement on the bangers for me. also the day before i listened to this album my right earbud stopped working and it ruined carne vale and probably some other tracks that i didn't realize had stereo audio

collide: you know how much i love oppa toby style. well you probably don't because i don't talk about homestuck music that much. well this flash is the combination of 4 homestuck musicians using their signature styles beautifully and better than ever before in the homestuck canon. also james roach is there :D

vol. 10: and the final one that i feel like doing before posting this the first time! i'll do hiveswap/pq/^2 later it's just an obvious thing to post this on 4/13 instead of the whole thing 1 week later. there's a sense of closure behind this music. it shows how much they'd grown since homestuck started and how much it impacted them as a person. and it makes the album a whole lot better because of that

hiveswap act 1 ost: this is a soundtrack with its own defined sounds and they're wonderful but the tracks are too short to stand out. rustblood fell under the curse of of me losing all my enjoyment of it because i listened to it too much. sorry :(

hiveswap friendsim: i thoroughly enjoyed the commentary provided on the hsmusic wiki. and the music duh. probably a bit rushed? how often did those updates come out? like every 1 or 2 weeks?

pesterquest: this wasn't on the tier list and i am SO SAD about it because i really like the pesterquest soundtrack

beyond canon: this album has recieved a lot of my listening time in the past, but it doesn't bring me any joy when i know what little the dedication of the artists amounted to. their commentaries show how excited they were to be on the first homestuck^2 album. they didn't know how quickly the whole thing would collapse under their feet. on the other hand all the songs slap! idk why but this is the only album i had listened to a ton that has Grown on me since then. maybe because a lot of the songs are more abstract and genre-specific than the rest of the homestuck discography, and i can recognize and appreciate that now that i'm older. shrugs well i really like the music

hiveswap act 2 ost: good. glad i can comprehend what an ace attorney is now

My #1 post of 2022

It's 4/13 and I just remembered I finished my kids! This is the bulk of ocs I made at the ripe age of 12, and now 11 years later they finally all have art! I started doing them as my 2020 new years resolution as a "fuck cringe culture, I'm going to openly like what past me loved" and I finished rhe last of them just before my birthday this year! I love them all so much please look at my kids I'm so proud of them

Still working on actually putting down all their information, since I put it largely on pause while I finished up actually giving them refs and have been giving myself a big break that I Deserve, but I'm so happy they're finally out in the world

So I’m working on a fancy!stuck design project and some of the best references for armor that is ornate is fire emblem. The one I’m working on rn is Dirk’s Godtier outfit and I think he’d be entertained by the fact that the jumbled ref I made is all anime lookin dudes lol

Looks like he finally figured out that he’s in a gothic horror novel and not a gothic mystery one lol (yes that was an OSP reference).

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

you said dc so ill say in the circles ive found myself in i simply do not get dickb*bs, dickr*y, or j*ykyle. i kind of hate dickb*bs? maybe i havent read enough comics w them, but idk, i just dont like it. d*ckroy is like. i read outsiders, and i just didnt see it, im sorry. the most ive ever liked them was in the teen titans animated show. i want to like j*ykyle and ive liked a lot of the stuff ive seen on tumblr, but i think i just like them as like homoerotic enemies type of dynamic and not as like, the gushy sweet stuff most people tend to write about them. ALSO scr*ddler. i dont get scr*ddler at all im just not sure what people like about it??

but idk like ive said i havent read that many comics yet and it could just be bc of that!!

yeah lol. less so w other fandoms but within the hs fandom there are a lot of things that just arent any fun anymore. to give a milder example i used to rlly like feferi and gamzee and a couple other various characters but i dont rlly like them anymore bc of how ppl talk abt them in fandom spaces

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

i hate hate hate the scarlet arc for jasons preboot run. i HATE scarlet. the whole thing is such a mess i mean youve got whatever the fuck was up w jasons hair youve got the pillhead youve got pr*f p*g (censored bc i hate him and not bc of tags) i mean its just generally like one of my least favorite jason comics ever written. they also literally retcon scarlets backstory the second time she appears. like IMMEDIATE retcon its so fucking stupid i hate it

12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

ive heard that a lot of people dont like hush for riddler, but its genuinely one of my favorite comics for him. i feel like it really showcases his brilliance and the way how he challenges batman on an intellectual level thats really interesting and a little darker in a way that i actually enjoyed! it feels very holmes/moriarty and i love them when theyre like that

the batman fandom and the hs fandom hate themselves so much there arent rlly any hot takes lmfao. but the pjo fandom is ridiculously ableist and no one talks about it

i liked hs2 and the epilogues and thats about as unpopular as it gets in terms of homestuck opinions

umm lol. hs and batman again are like. every characters got a fan following so theres not rlly anything unpopular to like there. but pjo its definitely alabaster omg. hes niche for sure but i looooved him i was obsessed shoutout to the n*cobaster gang we were delusional but we were so sexy
