If anyone's curious after I finally watched all the main PPVs this weekend. MotN (Supercard of Honor): Eddie Kingston vs Mark Briscoe MotN (Stand and Deliver): Oba Femi vs Dijak vs Josh Briggs MotN (Wrestlemania XL Day 1): GUNTHER vs Sami Zayn MotN (Wrestlemania XL Day 2): Logan Paul vs Randy Orton vs Kevin Owens Best Entrance: The Rock (Wrestlemania XL Day 1) Best Attire: Athena as Karlach (Supercard of Honor) - But shout out to New Day for the Rocky and Apollo gear honoring Carl Weathers. Best Performance: Kyle Fletcher (Supercard of Honor) Best Spot: Billie Starkz fakes a Neck Injury just to jump Queen Amanita to win her first major title at 19 years old (Supercard of Honor)
#wwe#roh#ring of honor#nxt#wwe nxt#nxt stand and deliver#supercard of honor#wrestlemania 40#I'd probably have liked Stand and Deliver more if it weren't for Booker T on commentary#Punk on commentary was so bitter and redundant as well#and Snoop Dogg was fucking baked#also I'd like to point out that I hate the 'pull the ref out the ring' spot - it doesn't stop them from being able to count!#Trips and Steph opening each Mania was a bit narcissistic if TK did it the internet would've ripped him apart even if it were Wembley#nobody wants to admit how big a mark Trips and Steph are for themselves and it shows - literally just jerking themselves off on tv#love Rey but felt Dom and Santos probably should've won though#like ol' Stingray but he kinda lingered too long for Johnny/Dalton#liked Drew's entrance but the Rock took it easily - also that kinda setup should've been for a world title match#Sami and Owens being there for each other backstage before their entrances was nice though#but still a lot of good wrestling out this weekend#Pretty Deadly skit was funny too on Night 1#not the biggest Corbin fan but his tag match was a close second to the NA triple threat#and credit where it's due also to Logan Paul as much as I hate him actually did some wrestling this time#Athena/Shida was a close second against Eddie/Mark too - same with Lee/Fletcher#Kyle just beats out Sami and Dijak imo but they all wrestled their butts off#should've put money on Drew winning then Punk attacking leading to a Priest cash in though#I'd be down for a R-KO tag run though - also a Mina vs Toni match to put Mariah in the middle#but congrats Cody for winning the world title that didn't exist when Dusty was robbed of winning the world title against Flair by count out#get yourself someone who loves you as much as WWE loves a spear through the barricade

Danny doesn’t find out until somebody told him.
you had been avoiding him all day , so he doesn’t find out.
when he found out he went on a hunt for you.
when he found you , you were in the middle of a sneeze attack.
“baby, why are you here and you’re sick?”
he would force you to go back to the hotel.
and by force i mean he picked you up and carried you to the car so you couldn’t refuse.
he would have to go back to work but when he comes back to the hotel you best believe he’s going to baby you.
Hook
Tumblr media
He figured it out when you were shooting a promo.
you could barley talk because your throat was hurting so much.
he gets kinda mad that you didn’t tell him, but then he feels bad because of how sick you look.
he can’t leave the arena
so he forces you to stay in his locker room and sleep until the shows over.
“stay in here and i’ll come get you when it’s time to go.”
he gives you forehead kisses instead of regular kisses.
you will get the princess treatment until you feel better.
N W
Tumblr media
Nick had a feeling you had been getting sick.
so when he saw you at work bundled up and coughing, he knew you were sick.
he asked the other wrestlers if they had anything for you to take.
he would take you into his locker room so you could sleep.
he would ask TK if he could leave a little bit earlier, so he could get you medicine.
would absolutely baby you until you got better.
K F
Tumblr media
Kyle knew you were sick , he just wanted to see how stubborn you were gonna be.
he had medicine in his bag for when you finally caved in.
he had just got done with his promo when he saw you taking the medicine.
“i thought you weren’t sick?”
“shut up.”
he will help you get better.
but he will still tell you he told you so.
D M
Tumblr media
aw the sweet little baby.
when he finds out he’ll be by your side taking care of you.
he will find medication for you.
he will try and make you as comfy as possible.
he feels bad when he has to go to his match.
takes you home as soon as he can
buys you soup because your throat hurts
baby’s you the whole time.
D M
Tumblr media
my other sweet baby.
he is like his brother.
he’s very sweet with you while you’re sick.
he will buy you soup if everything else hurts to eat.
he will feel bad if he has to go to his match and he has to leave you alone.
he will take you home and get you comfortable as soon as he can.

Let's talk about this.
CM Punk was a bigger star than everyone else when he came in. That is 100% fact. We would be crazy to deny it. He came in on legend status, 7 years of fans wondering if they would ever see him again. That's huge and he was a big get and for the first few months, whenever we saw him it felt like a big deal. He was putting in decent matches, he was doing incredible storytelling and he was adding so much value to the company.
That didn't last long. It became apparent well before the all out media scrum that he'd very much gone into business for himself and that he'd allowed his ego to run rampant. The list of names pouring out weekly that he had pissed off just kept getting larger and larger, and no, I don't think all the issues he had were his fault but a great many of them he claimed some fault in at least.
That media scrum was the perfect example of a man whose ego has been left to go unchecked for too long, someone who has clearly decided he's better than everyone else in the room and what he has to say matters more than what anyone else does.
After that, he was no longer the name he came in with. It's surprising that seeing AEW be completely fine without him didn't humble him even a little bit because when he came back, he didn't come back with any integrity or willingness to work to make AEW better, he was clearly, again just there for himself. Maybe at this point, he was already hoping to go back to WWE, who knows, but it was apparent he wasn't there because he cared about AEW and the fans knew it. It's an interesting bit of revisionist history happening right now that apparently WWE fans either willingly or ignorantly don't know that a large collection of AEW fans wanted him gone, because they were so tired of his attitude or they sensed he didn't care about AEW like they did. AEW fans are getting straight bullied on the internet because WWE fans think they are jealous or salty he went to WWE when that, honestly, for most, couldn't be further from the truth.
Of course he doesn't rate the top AEW guys highly, his actions for the entire time he was there showed that he didn't care that this was more than a job for them, this was a dream to put American pro-wrestling on the map again, this was a chance for wrestlers who dont fit the mould to do what they love on a huge stage. (Not a knock on WWE, by the way. They aren't wrestling. They specifically do not brand themselves as such.)
As for the WWE guys in AEW waiting to go back, they should be released. Let them go back. There seems to be this fear that if AEW releases talent that clearly wants to go back to WWE that it's a loss. It shouldn't be, they clearly don't have the companies best interests in mind, and if AEW is going to survive, it need people who believe in it 100%
AEW needs to refocus and they desperately need a restructure. They need more women in leadership for one. They need someone who can keep the egos in check but most importantly they need to remind themselves who they are and why they were so special to begin with. They have always been about heart, and wrestling, and having something to say, and passion. Some of that's been lost this year.
I firmly believe they will find it again, but I think the key is to move on, and keep grinding. Keep putting in work that silences the naysayers and is something to be proud of. I honestly wouldn't even mention Punk ever again, I'd literally scrub him and if the few friends he has left there don't understand why, I'd be asking them if they believe in what's best for AEW or what's best for them.
Anyways, here's a quick list of AEW stars that could carry the company on their back tomorrow and would smoke CM Punk on his best day.
- HANGMAN ADAM PAGE
- Orange Cassidy
- Ricky Starks
- Trent Bereta
- Wheeler Yuta
- Daniel Garcia
- Kris Statlander
- Hikaru Shida
- Julia Hart
- Willow
- Skye Blue
- Eddie Kingston
- Wardlow
- Bandito
- Konosuke Takeshita
- Kyle Fletcher
- Penta
- MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN
(Edit: Darby Allin was originally on this list, I was not aware of his previous SA history with his ex or his alleged behaviours toward homeless people in his past. I'm genuinely sorry if anyone was hurt or offended by this.)

So, I just had a theory about HOOK and Jericho story line and I am going to break it out for you, and maybe is a tad bid Will Ospreay biased, but hear me out:
1. Who has beaten Jericho? Will Ospreay and Takeshita
2. Who is one of HOOK's best buddies? Shibata
3. Who has recently beaten Shibata? Will Ospreay
4. Who in the Don Callis family was part of Team Taz with HOOK? Powerhouse Hobbs
5. Who did Will Ospreay said he wanted to add to the United Empire on an interview a year ago? HOOK
6. What is the faction Jericho had a feud with in the beginning of this year? Don Callis family
7. Which member of Don Callis family Taz recently fan(maned) while that member was doing his entrance? Will Ospreay
My theory: HOOK will turn heel on Jericho and Don Calis family are going to help with it, and maybe he will the join the faction and start a feud with Kyle Fletcher over his belt-

Past Tense » Will Ospreay ⁰¹
plot: reader is kenny omegas adopted sister and one of the best professional wrestlers in the world just like him, and has a past with an enemy of his, will ospreay. she gets pulled into their fued, which only motivates kenny even more to return to japan
trope: ex lovers to enemies to lovers
pairings: adopted sister reader! of kenny omega x will ospreay / reader x platonic sibling! kenny omega
warnings: honestly just angst and foul language a/n: i rlly wanted to add a sibling reader to their fued bc i loved it sm 😔 her in ring last name won't be omega, it's just gonna be kingley bc i like that last name as a wrestler one sksjks 🤭 this will have two - three parts! ITALICS ARE JAPANESE!!
Tumblr media
"It's not a big deal. It's not my first dynamite appearance," Y/N shrugged. The young bucks were obviously making it a huge deal what Y/N flew out from Japan to make a Dynamite appearance. "But, you never technically wrestled on Dynamite before and you're kicking off the show," Matt said, personally very excited to see the crowd's reaction to Y/N.
"I've been on dynamite multiple times to set up paper view matches, so it really isn't a big deal," Y/N said, pulling on her wrestling boots. "Exactly! But you never wrestled on dynamite and the media doesn't know you're here, so it's an even bigger deal," Nick added in Matt's defense. "Whatever you say boys," she chuckled.
Kenny glanced up seeing the Bucks looking at him with raised brows. "What?" He mouthed to them. "Did you tell her?" They whispered, but she heard them. "Tell me what?" Y/N asked, looking at Kenny.
Kenny pursed his lips, wishing he wasn't put in this position. "Uhh, well, I forgot to mention that Ospreay is supposed to be here tonight."
Y/N smile dropped hearing the name, she sighed and ran a hand over her mouth. "You know what? No, I'm gonna let that piece of shit ruin my day. I'm supposed to have a good match and spend some time with my brother. He's not ruining that." Y/N laced up her boots, not seeing the genuinely surprised expressions on the boys faces.
"Cool, yeah couldn't agree more." Kenny said, shooting expecting looks to the Bucks. "Yeah, agreed," the both said simultaneously.
"Fantastic. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go catch up with my friend." Y/N hugged Kenny before heading out the door.
Y/N walked down the halls, a sleeveless Kenny Omega hoodie on with the hood over her head. She looked down at her phone seeing the text Jamie sent her, telling her which locker room she was in. Not paying attention, she bumped into someone. "Shit, sorry. I should've payed attention," Y/N apologized before moving past the guy, she didn't bother look at.
"Y/N?" Anddd...she froze. "Why does the world hate me?" She muttered to herself in exasperation. Slowly, she turned around, unfortunately looking into Will's eyes. "They said you weren't gonna be here," he said, genuinely surprised at her presence. He had specifically made it clear he wouldn't show up if Y/N was gonna be in the arena. It sounded childish yeah but the last thing he needed to deal with was the teasing from his friends about her.
"Well it last minute, didn't know you were gonna be here either 'til a few minutes ago." Y/N turned her attention away from him and onto the two men beside him. She used to be pretty close with Kyle Fletcher. Now, they didn't talk as much. "Kyle, Mark, hi boys," she smiled politely at them. Kyle and Mark both greeted her back with a smile.
"Alright well, you both have a good night. Bye." She didn't even give Will an ounce of acknowledgement before leaving.
Kyle couldn't help but snicker, looking to an incredulous Will. "Oh, she absolutely hates you man. I thought you two talked it out already," he said, recalling when Will had said he was heading to Y/N's locker room at NJPW Strong. "I tried to but as per usual, she was being stubborn," Will replied as he began to continue walking. "Technically, she has every reason to be stubborn," Mark added in Y/N's defense.
"Can we not talk about my ex, please? Thanks."

Y/N did a few push-ups, waiting for them to hit her music. Kenny, the Young Bucks and Brandon all stood near her, prepared to walk out with her. They originally weren't but the Bucks wanted to film her match for BTE. She stood up just as they played her music which was "Be Quiet and Drive" by Deftones. The crowd stood up abruptly, recognizing the champions music and they were loud. "Holy shit they're loud," Matt followed the woman up the stairs.
Y/N walked through the tunnel, a grin slapped across her face as looked around at the crowd. "Introducing the World of Stardom Champion, Y/N Kingley!" Y/N pulled up her hoodie to show her two championships. One of them was obviously the World of Stardom Championship. The second one was the SWA World Championship.
Y/N pulled both titles off and raised them as her pyro hit. She handed them to Kenny as she made her way down the ramp, the boys following close behind her. Kenny held them on his shoulders, pretending to be her, he did her signature pose. Y/N stepped into the ring, taking a mic from the official.
Her music shut off and she gestured the audience to quiet down, in which they did. "Weren't expecting me, were you?" She spoke, the crowd cheering, missing the woman on AEW television. "Man, it's been a minute since I've been here. You all have Kenny Omega to thank for that. He's very convincing." Y/N chuckled when they started a "THANK YOU KENNY" chant.
"But, I won't lie to you all, I definitely wouldn't have showed up if I knew Will Ospreay was going to be here." The fans all shared a laugh at her dig at the United Empire leader. "He's probably throwin' a little tantrum backstage about this as we speak. Don't worry, William, they'll forget about this all in a day," she winked at the hard cam, tuning out the loud cheers and laughs from the AEW audience.
Y/N ran a hand down her hair, waiting for the crowd to quiet down some more. "Now, I was originally supposed to do an open challenge for my World of Stardom Championship at All Out. But, unfortunately I won't be able to make it. So, I figured, since I flew out here, I might as well do an open challenge anyways," Y/N announced.
Before she could even get out another full word, she was interrupted by the music of the Jericho Appreciation Society's Anna Jay. Y/N boredly turned to see Anna Jay (A.S.) walk out with Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara. "Shut her music off," Y/N ordered and they did as told.
They all backed up as the three entered the ring. "This is all AEW has to offer? Honestly, I really hoping for Jamie Hayter or maybe even Toni Storm. But, I guess you'll do. This should be quick work boys, so you can wait." Y/N smiled but it quickly fell when Anna snatched the microphone from her hands. "I know you're used to getting whatever you want, but that's not gonna work as long as the Jericho Appreciation Society's around. And when I beat you, and take your championship, not only will J.A.S. run AEW, but I'm gonna make you bow down to me when we takeover Stardom," the blonde said.
Y/N smiled, not at all fazed by her, she leaned forward so her mouth was next to the mic Anna held, "I'm don't bow down to nobody."
"Guess I'll have to make you then," Anna smirked. She immediately shoved Y/N down and before anyone could react, she slapped Kenny across the face. His head turned from the impact and he went to take a step forward but Sammy Guevara got in front of Anna. Matt and Nick helped up Y/N and she shoved Sammy to the side, immediately tackling Anna as the crowd erupted into loud cheers.
That started it.
Kenny lunged at Sammy, hitting him a few times so he dropped to his knees. Tay Melo dragged Anna out of the ring to safety. Y/N stood up and she, Kenny and the Bucks all delivered a super kick on Sammy Guevara. Before they could do anything else, Tay and Anna both dragged him out. Y/N picked up the mic, her adrenaline already on, "No, no, no, you don't get to just come out here, interrupt me and attack my brother without any consequences. Get your ass back in the ring before I drag you in!"
The crowd cheered as Y/N pulled off her hoodie and tossed it to Kenny who had picked up her two belts that he dropped when he attacked Sammy. Anna waited for the Elite to exit the ring before she hesitantly stepped inside. "Ring the fuckin' bell," Y/N tossed the mic outside. The minute the bell rang, they went at each other with full force.
It was about fifteen minutes into the match, they were nearing the end, already gotten so many chants during the match. Y/N and Anna were both on their stomachs, trying to muster up any remaining strength to get up after Y/N already performed the 'You can't escape'. They seemed to have pretty good chemistry for having never faced each other before.
Y/N got up and pulled up Anna, hitting her with a V-Trigger. She lifted Anna above her shoulders, even though she was near the ropes she still successfully performed the One-Winged-Angel. "A tribute to her brother Kenny Omega with the One-Winged-Angel! She's got to win!"
Just as she was about to pin Anna for the win, Sammy Guevara put her foot on the rope, forcing the ref to break the pin. "And Sammy with the save for Anna! That little punk! Kingley had the win right there."
Y/N huffed and slid out of the ring, she shoved Sammy harshly as he held his hands up in surrender. "Looks like Y/N isn't too happy with Sammy's interference in her match." Sammy backed up, "Woah, woah woah! Calm down!" Kenny grabbed his arm and turned him around, straight into two superkicks courtesy of the Bucks. Meanwhile, Cutler chuckled as he continued filming.
Y/N gave a warning look to Tay before sliding back into the ring. Anna quickly tried to roll up Y/N but she kicked out, standing up and hitting Anna with a superkick. Tay Melo jumped up onto the ring apron when Y/N jumped to the top rope for her finisher, causing Y/N to fall off on her back. Anna quickly rolled Y/N up and Tay put Anna's feet on the bottom rope for more force. Though Kenny quickly ran over to push her feet off, saving Y/N from losing. "And Omega with the save for his sister!"
Tay gaped in shock and grabbed Kenny's arm with both hands, turning him around forcefully. She raised her hand to slap him but, unfortunately for her she was forced back around but Ruby Soho, who she was currently fueding with. "It's Ruby Soho! Shes beatin' the crap outta Tay Melo!" Ruby delivered her finisher 'Destination Unknown', and when Sammy went to help his wife, Ortiz ran down the ramp and chased him into the crowd. If anyone was keeping up with their fued, they would know, Ruby Soho and Ortiz were set to Tay and Sammy for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships at All Out.
All while this was going on, Y/N had hit Anna with a superkick. She jumped onto the top rope and did the usual backflip into a DDT just as Anna stood up to take it. "And Kingley with a Royal Deathdrop!" One...two...three! She won, and retained her belts. "Y/N Kingley retains!"
"And still, your World of Stardom Champion, Y/N Kingley!"
Kenny stepped in the ring and handed her the Stardom belt but still held onto the SWA belt. Y/N chuckled as the Bucks lifted her onto their shoulders, she raised the belt, representing Stardom proudly.
Kyle Fletcher glanced at his friend, Will's eyes focused intently on the television in front of them. He hadn't taken his eyes off the TV the minute Y/N walked out, looking as beautiful as ever. He was a little upset at her diss towards him but figured she had probably just dissed him because of his current fued with Kenny. At least that's what he was trying to tell himself.
"Dude, you gotta stop actin' so desperate. You're never gonna get her back with that attitude," Kyle said, patting Will's shoulder.
Will sighed, "I'm not acting desperate bruv. I am desperate. I want her back."
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
"Ow. Careful," Y/N winced as Kenny unwrapped the plastic that kept the ice attached to her shoulder. "You know, I'm probably the last person to tell you this, but you really gotta take it easy. You shouldn't be wrestling and traveling this much. You need a break," Kenny said. Y/N wished she could roll her eyes but what he said was true. She was overworking herself more than needed. She had just wrestled before her flight to AEW and that was just even more unnecessary pain on her body.
"I'll keep that in mind," Y/N mumbled in reply. Kenny sat down next to her, both of them watching the current main event going on. It was Aussie Open & Will Ospreay of United Empire vs PAC & The Lucha Brothers of the Death Triangle to advance in the AEW Trios tournament. Whoever won this match would be facing The Elite next week on Dynamite. "Aussie Open's lookin pretty good. They've improved," Kenny commented.
"Speaking of, why didn't you tell me he was gonna be here tonight?" Y/N questioned after a few moments of silence. "I thought you weren't mad," Kenny glanced at his sister and back to the TV. "Oh I'm not. I'm just wondering why you would keep that from me. Of course, assuming TK came to you first about it." Y/N looked back at the TV, waiting for Kenny's response.
"Come on, Y/N, we both know if I told you he was gonna be here, you wouldn't have shown up. And I didn't want you to look bad if you had backed out on your promise," he explained and she smiled slightly. Kenny always went out of his way to protect Y/N and her image. He was in the business a few years earlier than her but made it seem like it was a decade. Even if she didn't want any help, he always provided it anyways. She was grateful for him and his help anyways.
"You know, you don't always need to worry about me. I can handle myself. I know what I'm doin'," she assured. Kenny raised a brow, "I'm your brother. I'm always gonna worry about you whether you need it or not. Besides, you really gotta just forget about this guy. Just pretend like he doesn't exist," Kenny advised.
"I'll take that to mind." Y/N and Kenny both turned their heads back to the monitor just as Will Ospreay jumped to the top rope and performed Y/N's finisher move on PAC. Will grinned and instead of attempting a pin on his opponent, he stood up and did Y/N's taunt. The crowd cheered in response, leaving Y/N's mouth agape. "That fuckin' prick," she muttered.
"I mean, technically you took a dig at him first," Kenny mumbled, Y/N glaring at him in reply.
About ten minutes later they were all gathered near the entrance way, ready to walk out after United Empire gained the win, advancing in the tournament. Kenny's music hit and he walked out, getting a huge pop from the crowd as per usual. Y/N followed behind him, her titles still strapped about her waist but she had changed into a long tight black dress with two slits near the legs and heels for dinner after the show.
Y/N rolled her eyes watching Will gesturing for them to come in the ring. Kenny walked down the ramp, neither the Bucks or Y/N attempting to stop him but Don Callis did. His first attempt, Kenny just shrugged him off, but as he got closer Don had to grab Kenny's waist to pull him back as a ref put his hands out as well. Meanwhile, Will just taunted Kenny, daring him to step in the ring.
Y/N then grabbed Kenny's shoulder and pulled him back with a small laugh. They backed up on the ramp and Y/N looked at the camera man who signaled to her that the show was now off air. "We're off air now," she told Kenny and he nodded, gesturing for someone to hand him a mic. "Now that we're off the air, I wanna thank everyone for coming down tonight," Kenny spoke into the mic.
"And please, give our friends and my lovely sister from New Japan, a wonderful AEW welcome." Y/N smiled and put an arm around her brother as Aussie Open raised their arms, getting more cheers and appreciation from the AEW crowd.
"Now I'm gonna do something very special that perhaps I shouldn't. Don't make me regret it, and because you guys are the guests and you guys won the main event, give these people a piece of your minds. Tell these people how you feel. Thank these people for giving us their time tonight. Now that you guys are in the big leagues, thats just one of your daily duties. Think you can handle the responsibility, Will? Hopefully you can handle it a little better than uh, filling my shoes in New Japan," Kenny walked down the ramp with Y/N and set the mic on the ring apron.
Kenny headed back up the ramp, Y/N tried to stay there, staring down Will until Kenny took her hand and gently pulled her back on the ramp with him. Will leaned down and picked up the microphone, his eyes on Y/N's before turning around.
"Mate, I didn't know the cleaner was a puss." The crowd cheered as Y/N and Kenny rolled their eyes, knowing he was gonna say some shit like that. "Bruv, filling your shoes? The way I see things, is the short time I've been in New Japan, I've done everything you've done and more you fragile little bitch." Y/N glanced at her brother who didn't seem to be affected by Will's little insults. Sure, she had worse things said to her in rivalries but those weren't even against actual people who disliked her. If it was Will who said those things to her, she would've jumped him already.
"Mate, Kenny Omega was wearing a damn t-shirt when he came back. What's the matter bruv? Hidin' that little belly of yours? Are the abs gone brother? Is that what it is? Your little sister there came back from a broken neck and even she didn't look half a bad," Will said, the crowd getting louder when he mentioned Y/N. This didn't sit well with neither sibling but it wasn't the first time she was thrown into their arguments.
"Look at you bruv, covered in tape. I just did a G1, went to the final, another five stars bruv," the blonde brit gloated, getting another eye roll from Y/N. Please, five stars was nothing for her nor Kenny. Every match she had was five star material but she wasn't out here gloating about it like a cocky prick. "Bruv, bruv, while I've been working," as he spoke, Don couldn't stop Kenny from heading down the ramp again, Y/N following her brother incase one of them decided to swing. Knowing Will, he could get pissed easy.
"While I've been working, you've been sitting down and getting the Young Bucks to wipe your ass for you brother." Kenny had to crack a laugh, sarcastic or not, what he said was kinda funny. "Face it, face it, you've guys have built a wonderful empire here but it wouldn't be as good because you're inviting me to come over here mate. Money where your mouth is. Next week, United Empire versus The Elite." Y/N leaned forward on the apron and Will leaned down, looking into her eyes, he dropped the mic into her hand and backed up.
Y/N backed up and handed the mic to Kenny. "Hey uh Will, since we're gonna play a little bit of hardball, and since there's absolutely no way anyone's gonna see or hear any of this. You wanna talk about doing everything that I've done except doing more of it and sooner. Well, that could be true except the only difference is, I did it in front of full sold out crowd's and you did G1 Final in front of what, three thousand people?"
"After the hardships that I face to give people like you an opportunity Will, you would think that maybe, you'd be able to do a little more with it." Kenny said, looking directly at Will who was sitting criss cross in the ring, leaning forward on the bottom rope. Will just laughed, "And one man's opinion, doesn't really mean much to me, Will, because none of these people know any of your matches, none of these people even know you." Will moved under the rope so he was now on the ring apron, seemingly pressed by Kenny's comments.
"And you wanna bring up my sister all the time but she doesn't even show up here more than twice a year and she got the biggest pop of the entire night. I didn't even have to introduce her." Y/N smirked at Kenny's defense of her and the crowd cheered.
"I introduce them to you," Y/N and the Bucks pulled Kenny back to prevent any fighting between the two men, "yeah, a lot like I introduced you to the Heavyweight scene in New Japan. I never got one thank you from you, Will, not even one, and here you are talking a whole lot of shit in front of all these people." Kenny laughed, backing up as Will hopped down from the apron, seemingly mad and Kyle and Mark had to hold him back.
Kenny continued, "thinking you're a real tough guy, huh, because you wrestled five matches in five days on a couple of indies and a couple of lower card New Japan guys, and yeah you lost to Okada, big deal, I've lost to Okada too, but I've also beaten Okada in the biggest stage of them all, something you can never do Will. And guess what, that match that I'm talking about Will, that's the one everyone calls the best one of all time. Something that nobody says about your matches. In fact, no one can even remember your matches, Will."
Kenny backed up with an evil like laugh when Will tried to move at him but Kyle and Mark held him back again, more seriously. "Look at this child," Kenny mocked, putting a hand on his sister's shoulder. "You see, Will. I gave you the impossible task of filling my shoes, but maybe I shouldn't have given you a pair of shoes when you still haven't grown out of your diapers," Kenny stated and the audience laughed.
"But hey, Will, I appreciate I appreciate you man, no heat, zero," Y/N chuckled, not sure what else Kenny could've done to troll Will even more. Kenny set the mic down and his music played but then he walked back to the mic and picked it up, "No, I'm not gonna forget it a second time. I am not gonna forget it a second time," Kenny headed up the ramp, pointing at Nick, "you were supposed to remind me."
Y/N snickered and turned around, looking back at the crowd from the top of the ramp, "I am sorry everyone, since Will doesn't have one of these, I gotta do it myself. I must bid each and everyone of you adieu, so until next time, and next time it's gonna be next week and boy it's gonna be a busy week because not only are we going to win the semis but we're taking this whole thing home mother father. Goodbye Little Willy and Aussie Open, muah!... and good night....bang!"
Kenny set down the mic and put his arm around Y/N, having her take off her main title belt, he raised her arm and pointed to her. Making sure the crowd showed their appreciation for her special appearance as the next one wouldn't happen for a while.
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
A breathless Y/N leaned on the bottom rope, her body then being dragged across the ring so Mayu Iwatani could ascend to the tope turnbuckle. Her body practically moved on autopilot as her knees came up last minute when Mayu performed a moonsault. Y/N quickly ran against the ropes for leverage and jumped to the top rope, backflipping into a DDT to Mayu. Performing her finisher, which was called the Royal Deathdrop.
She crawled over Mayu's body for the cover. One...two...three! She won. She was the first ever IWGP Women's Champion.
"And first ever, IWGP Women's Champion, Y/N Kingley!"
Y/N used the ropes to stand, still dizzy from the performance. Everyone was on their feet clapping for her. The referee presented her the championship in which she politely bowed, thanking him in Japanese and raising the belt. The ring filled with confetti and she couldn't help but wanna cry. They helped clip the belt around her waist before handing her a mic so she could speak to the audience in attendance and everyone watching from their homes, more specifically her brother Kenny who she knew was watching.
"I honestly have no words. I can't begin to describe how much this means to me. But, thank you, so so much. I wouldn't be here without any of you, or my wonderful fans all over the world. More specifically would I like to thank my brother Kenny. He's the reason I'm still here and wrestling. I love you so much. Goodbye, and goodnight. Thank you." Y/N set the mic on the mat and stepped out of the ring.
Azumi helped her walk to the back as she could barely hold herself up. Mayu was one of the few women wrestlers who could take every bit of strength out of her when they wrestled. Mariah May also jogged over to help Y/N over to her locker room. "Thanks girls," Y/N sat down on the couch, giving the two women a smile.
"Of course, I'm gonna go get you some ice," Mariah said, "Oh you don't-", she quickly left the room to fetch her fellow friend some ice, ignoring Y/N's polite protest. Azumi congratulated Y/N on her accomplishment before leaving Y/N alone with her thoughts.
Just as she closed her eyes, she could hear her phone begin to ring. She groaned tiredly, not in the mood to get up and grab it out of her duffle bag. Luckily, she got a knock on the door and assumed it must've been Mariah already back with the ice. "You can just come in, Mariah!" Y/N said, partially confused.
"Uhh, not Mariah," a male voice spoke. Yeah, Y/N knew that voice from anywhere. Will fucking Ospreay walked into her locker room. Y/N blankly stared at him, "What the hell do you want, Ospreay?"
"Suddenly forgot my first name?" Will retorted.
"Get the fuck out, William," Y/N pulled herself to her feet and walked around the small couch. She reached down to grab her phone and seen the various messages from Kenny and Jamie.
"Oh, I see you remember it after all," He said. Will backed up, putting his hands up in surrender seeing the glare from his ex girlfriend. "Relax, no need to be so hostile. Just came to wish you a congratulations. I know you've always wanted to bring more women's titles to the picture," he said, and for some reason he was being very genuine. She didn't like it.
Y/N sat back down on the couch, "Okay, thanks. Goodbye now."
Mariah walked up, raising her brows at Will's presence, she sat down next to Y/N. "Should I come back later?" She asked.
Y/N looked at Will, "No it's okay, he was just leaving." Will pursed his lips, shaking his head in frustration as he walked out of the room, not able to say what he really wanted to.
"I appreciate the help, but you should go be with your friends," Y/N said after Mariah helped Y/N kick her feet up on the table. "Are you sure?" Y/N nodded, urging Mariah to go on and celebrate with her friends. "Okay, but just call me if you need any help at all." Mariah carefully hugging the older girl before heading out.
Y/N took the time to give Kenny a facetime call, she smiled as Kenny's face popped up on the screen. "Hii, I miss you like so much. I feel so lonely here. I wish you could be here," Y/N said with a sad smile.
"I know, I wish I could be there too. I'm so so proud of you. I watched the match and you did phenomenal as usual," Kenny complimented, glancing up at the TV, he seen his pre-filmed video play at the PPV, announcing his return to Japan to fight Will Ospreay for his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at WrestleKingdom 17.
"Thank you, Ty. And I literally cannot wait to see for WrestleKingdom. I'm so excited and anxious." Y/N said, holding ice to her ribs. "I was also gonna ask if I could stay with you. I really don't feel like staying in a tiny hotel room," he replied, putting his eyes back onto the computer where as per usual was Will Ospreay talking his shit about Kenny leaving and him staying.
"Oh yeah of course, you always have a room at my place. Can I call you back tomorrow? I got to do a promo and take a shower, then head home. It's been a long day." Y/N rubbed her eyes, most of her makeup was sweated off so she did ruin it much. "Sure. I've gotta go to sleep anyways cause it's really late over here," he said in agreement.
"Okay, goodnight." They said their goodbyes before Y/N hung up and sighed tiredly.
As she went to move the ice to her chest, where Mayu viciously chopped, her door was pushed open, and an angry Will Ospreay stormed in with Kyle Fletcher attempting to stop him. "You know this is private locker room. You can't just storm in when you feel like it Ospreay." Y/N tossed her phone on the table, raising her brows at the blonde man.
"Oh don't give me that bullshit, Y/N. Who was that on the phone, huh? You're cunt of a brother?" Will said angrily, shrugging Kyle's hand off his shoulder.
"Watch your fucking mouth." Y/N moved the ice off and stood up, walking around the table. "You have some fucking nerve coming into my room and talking bad on my brother." She glanced back at Kyle who awkwardly stood there, "love you, Kyle but can you just give us a minute please?" She requested.
"You sure?" He double checked, knowing how the two could be when they were angry. "Yeah, I'm sure. This won't take long." Y/N didn't take her eyes off of Will as Kyle exit the room, shutting the door as it automatically locked. Y/N didn't have to take a guess to know Will had gotten a key to her room, which was how he got in.
"How long have you known about your brother returning to New Japan, huh? Was that the plan all along or was it because I offended the little cunt at his own promotion? Or- or was it just because I attacked his little friend?" Will said, referring to when he attacked Kota Ibushi just before Kenny left Japan.
"See I don't think you just heard what I said. Watch what the fuck you say about my brother in front of me. Come on, we both know if you offended him, he would've already dealt with you. And it's not about your championship either. It's about you strolling around here calling yourself the greatest wrestler to live, shitting on his legacy. And yeah, maybe he wants to get a little revenge for Ibushi. So he's gonna do that on the grandest stage Japan has to offer."
"Now I know it may be a little hard for you, but you need to get that through your thick ass skull, Ospreay." Y/N spat, going to turn around but he grabbed her wrist and turned her back to him. "Fine, okay, I get it. Hell I probably deserve it, too. But maybe I'm just using that as an excuse to talk to you," he said just as Y/N pulled her wrist from his grip with a glare.
"Talk to me? What do you possibly wanna talk about? The fact that you cheated on me? You being a shitty fucking boyfriend? You embarrassing me in front of everyone?!" She snapped, tired of his nonsense and shitty excuses for his behavior.
"Oh so all the blame is all on me?! I know I'm not perfect but let's not pretend you aren't so perfect yourself princess!" He argued back in his own defense.
"I never once claimed I was perfect, I certainly don't act like it. I have my flaws but I never, and I mean never cheated on you! I wouldn't even think of doing such a thing!" She shot back incredulously. Surprised that he was trying to turn this on her.
"How many times do I have to say, I'm sorry! It was a mistake that I couldn't regret more," he explained. Y/N scoffed, "If you regret it so much you wouldn't have made her your fucking girlfriend the minute we broke up, let alone rub it in my face, you fucking cunt!" She shoved him back, blinking away the tears that threatened to fall. He didn't deserve her tears. She wasn't gonna let herself be weak in front of him.
"Oh, so I'm the cunt now? Where were you when I was going through the worst depression of my life? Why do you think I cheated on you, huh? You weren't there and I needed someone. But, Bea was," he couldn't help but immediately start to regret saying his ex's name. Hearing her name always set Y/N off. She absolutely hated Bea. They used to best friends until Bea slept with Will and the truth unfolded.
"Newsflash, Will. I can't give every second of my time to you! Cause whilst you were balls deep in my best friend, I was busy dealing with the fact that my birth mum showed up on my brother's fucking front door. You wanna talk about me not showing up for you one time when you haven't showed up for me countless times. I ignored every single warning I got from my family because I loved you and genuinely believed that you loved me too."
Will sighed, wanting to argue but she was right. He wasn't always there for her when she needed him. Another reason Kenny didn't like him. He had to be there for Y/N when Will wasn't. "I didn't know, I'm sorry."
"Of course you didn't know. You never bothered to ask. It's been three years and I'm done with letting you have so much control over me. Please, just forget I ever existed." Y/N stated tiredly, scratching the back of her neck.
Will shook his head, "I can't do that, Y/N. I can't just forget about us. I won't." Y/N rolled her eyes, "Then I'll do it for you."
She turned around and went to pick up her phone but his next words stopped her. "You can't honestly look me in the eyes and tell me you don't at least miss what we used to be," he said, his eyes told a different story though. He just needed to desperately know if he was the only one who feeling what he was feeling. The exact feelings he had when he first fell in love with her.
"Used to, Will," Y/N turned around, lifting her hand to place on his cheek, "Used to, as in past tense. I don't miss us. I don't miss what we used to be...because it wasn't healthy. We aren't together in the endgame, Will. That's the truth you need to learn to accept. Our love no longer lies. I'm sorry." Her statement was genuine and it felt so real. He wanted to believe she was lying but one thing Y/N didn't do was lie, especially about something like this.
"If you'll excuse me, I need to work. I don't want you in here when I return." She wanted to feel bad seeing a tear roll down his cheek. But she couldn't. She needed to let go.
Only he wasn't gonna let her. Not yet at least.

Kyle Fletcher x Bria (OC Female!Reader)
Word Count: 2076
Warnings: Mentions of drinking
Type: Fluff
Summary: Who knew a night of drunken truth or dare could be so good
A/N: I honestly enjoyed writing this one so much
~~~
Dynamite was finally coming to a close, and I’d just finished packing my suitcase when there was a knock on my locker room door. Walking across the room, I sighed, exhausted from the busy night, and opened up the wood door to reveal Kyle Fletcher leaning against the frame. He was wearing a black t-shirt, one that was snug against his muscles, and he smirked as he looked at me.
“Hey, Bria,” he stated before pushing off the wall. “A few of the roster and I planned to head out for drinks, and I was hoping you’d join us.”
“I’d love to, Kyle. Could you just give me a second to grab my bag?” I questioned, pointing behind me, and he nodded.
Turning around, I rushed over to the suitcase and shut the lid. Quickly, I zipped it, and pulled it down off the couch, lifting the handle to it. Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared in front of me, and I glanced up to see Kyle reaching for the bag. He didn’t say anything, only offering me a small smile, and he turned, pulling my bag with him.
“You don’t have to carry that for me, you know that right?” I asked, shaking my head at him.
“I know, but I want to help you out.” He answered, giving me a one shouldered shrug.
We walked to the parking lot in silence, neither of us really having anything to say. It wasn’t awkward, just silent. As we approached the remaining cars, I started to drift to the left, heading to where I parked earlier in the day, but Kyle continued on his path. I stopped, confused as to why he kept walking.
“My car is this way,” I called. “We turn left, and then walk down the aisle next to this one for a little.”
Kyle turned around, shaking his head at my words, confusing me more. I watched as his blonde locks bounced as he moved his head, falling into place when he stopped.
“I’m taking you out, so we can use my car.” He smiled at me, and used his head to point in the direction he was going.
I shrugged, and began to catch up to him, before he started to walk again. The silence was back, and we walked for another moment before we reached his rental for the night. He reached into the pocket of his jeans, fishing out his keys, and pressed a button to open the trunk. It raised slowly, and Kyle waited patiently before he was able to slide my suitcase in. I’d spotted his suitcase already in the trunk, and realized he turned back to get me.
“You came back for me?” I questioned, glancing at him.
“Yeah, I told the others to meet me there. I came back because I wanted you to come with me.” He shrugged, not thinking much of his words.
I blushed slightly, and was silently thanking whoever that the parking lot was dark, so he couldn’t see me.
“Are you ready to go?” Kyle asked, turning to face me.
I only nodded at his question, and he turned around, heading to the driver’s side of the car. Following his actions, I began to walk to the passenger door, opening it slowly. The car next to me chirped, startling me, and I heard Trent begin to laugh.
“Not funny Beretta.” I smiled teasingly.
“Totally was.” He chuckled, proud of his work.
I groaned softly, shaking my head at his words. We’d had a prank war recently between the two of us, and I knew this was subtle payback for my win. Without a word, I hoisted myself up into Kyle’s rental, and buckled myself in. Since the door wasn’t shut yet, the little light was on, and I could see Kyle looking at me before shifting his gaze away quickly. As we drove to the bar, the two of us talked about things at work, and he gave me an update on how Mark was feeling. Once we pulled into the parking lot, Kyle quickly turned the car off and got out. I leaned down, grabbing my purse from the floor, and sat back up to unbuckle my seatbelt. When I turned to open the door, I noticed Kyle was already there, and he opened it for me.
“Thank you.” I spoke softly, and he gave me a small nod.
He extended his hand, offering me easy access to get out and onto the concrete. I took it with a small smile on my face, thankful for his generosity.
“Thank you, Kyle.” I smiled at him which he returned.
“Anything for you Bria.” He replied and shut the door once I was out of the way.
As if it was instinct, Kyle reached for my hand again, and laced our fingers together as we walked into the bar. I wasn’t surprised that it was scarcely full, being that it was only a Wednesday, and it was late. We were able to quickly find our friends, and took a seat.
“Hey girl!” Britt exclaimed once I was seated.
“Hey Britt!” I exclaimed back, excited to see her.
It’d been a while since I was able to go out with any of my work friends, so being here tonight was well needed. I glanced around to see Adam sitting beside Britt, and watched as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“You want a drink?” Kyle whispered in my ear, and I nodded at his question.
Without another word, he stood up and began walking to the bar. This gave Britt the opportunity to turn to me, missing the fact that Adam was leaning in for a kiss.
“So, what’s the deal with you and Kyle?” She questioned, leaning forward, as if to get closer to me.
Adam shook his head and chuckled slightly, thus causing me to assume this was something they talked about frequently.
“We’re friends, that’s all.” I shrugged, not thinking too much of the question.
“Only friends?” Another question from her, causing Adam to chuckle some more.
“As far as I know, unless you know something that I don’t.” I replied, and spotted Kyle nearing the table from the corner of my eye.
“One strawberry margarita for you, and just water for me.” Kyle stated nonchalantly as he placed the drinks on the table.
The four of us, along with other friends of ours began to joke around as we drank and relaxed from the long night. We discussed things like work, our home lives, and for some, their love lives. Tonight was an escape from reality for all of us, something that was clear the group of us needed. Sure, we had other ways of escape, like video games, but tonight, it was fun.
“Okay, Bria, your turn. Truth or Dare?” Britt questioned, wiggling her eyebrows.
“Because I’m not a chicken, I’ll do dare.” I replied, taking another sip of my third margarita.
“I dare you to kiss Kyle.” She said before grabbing her glass and drinking.
I looked at Kyle, a way to see if he was okay with this, and he smiled. This gave me the courage I needed to lean in and press my lips against his. His lips were soft, and they molded perfectly with mine. Kyle brought a hand under my chin, and he held me there for a moment.
“Okay Bria I see you!” Britt called from across the table, clearly pleased with herself.
After a moment, we pulled away, and I smiled. As I tried to catch my breath, Kyle began to reach into the pocket of his jeans. I watched as he pulled out his wallet, and pulled out fifty to cover for the night, and he slid the wallet back into his pocket before extending his hand to me.
“You’re taking her away from me?” Britt pouted using her best puppy dog eyes. We were the best of friends, and it’d been like this multiple times when I was leaving early from a function, and vice versa.
“I’m her designated driver tonight, so it’s best if we get going. Plus I think she and I have some unfinished business to handle.” Kyle smirked as I began to blush at his words.
“I want details!” Britt shouted as we walked away from the table, and I gave her a thumbs up from behind my back.
Once we got back to his car, Kyle helped me in, as I was unstable on my feet. I’d had a few margaritas as well as shots, and knew that I would feel this in the morning.
“Unfinished business huh?” I asked as Kyle went to shut my door. He paused for a second, looking at me, and smiled softly before closing the door.
I waited for him to come around to his side and get in before bringing it up again. When he shut the door, however, he leaned over and kissed me again. It wasn’t as long this time, but I still had the same feeling throughout my body.
“We can talk about it tomorrow, yeah? I want to get you back safely first.” He spoke, and I nodded, an exhausting feeling settling over me. While he drove back to the hotel, I ended up closing my eyes and falling asleep.
“Britt, her and I haven’t even talked about anything yet. I’m sure she’ll tell you when we do.” I heard the faint voice from the other side of the hotel room, surprising me.
Slowly, I opened my eyes, and spotted a shirtless Kyle pacing around my hotel room. His pajama pants hung low on his waist, and he was running a hand through his blonde locks. My head throbbed as I tried to get a better look at him, and then I remembered everything from last night, including the kiss.
“Shit.” I hissed, trying to sit up, but the sound of my voice caught Kyle’s attention.
“Bria just woke up, so I’m going to let you go. She’ll talk to you soon, I’ll make sure of it.” He stated before pulling the phone from his ear and hanging up.
“She’s persistent about details.” I joked, bringing a hand to my head.
“I’ve learned. How are you feeling?” He asked, coming over to sit on the edge of the bed.
“Just a headache thankfully. Did you stay the night?” I answered his question and asked my own.
“You don’t remember?” I shook my head. “When we got back to the hotel, you’d been asleep for about fifteen minutes, and I didn’t want to wake you. So, I carried you up here, and you began to wake up when you asked me to stay.”
“I appreciate it, the staying and all. It’s nice to wake up to a face I know.” I giggled, and he chuckled as well.
“I’m glad I was the face you woke too.” He smiled.
“Well, it was more your back, but the point still stands.” I smirk at him.
“Did you enjoy the view.” He joked, a similar smirk laid on his face.
“Hmm, it is a very nice back. But I think your lips are just a little better.” I whispered.
“Ah, so you remember the kisses.” He said, lowering his head.
It was almost as if he was embarrassed, which I didn’t want him to be. I know that I’d been drinking, but my feelings for Kyle were something I discovered a while ago, but I never told him.
“Kyle, I know I was drinking, but please don’t think that I didn’t want them just because of that. The truth is, I’ve liked you for a while.” I whisper, placing a hand on his arm.
“You have?” He asked. “I mean, I like you too Bria.”
“Good, then come lay down with me. I want to spend time with you.” I sigh, laying my head down on the pillow.
“Gladly, so long as I can keep kissing you.” He smiled, standing up so he could walk around to lay with me.
“I was hoping you would.” I smiled as he laid beside me, ignoring my phone that Britt was spamming with messages.
Can you elaborate on the backstage drama around the tag belts? 🍵
sure! this is all baseless speculation to be clear
also biased as hell because i don't like FTR or jericho as performers. this answer turned into quite a rant, sorry. if i got any facts wrong i'm happy to be corrected. not coming after anyone who's an FTR or jericho fan, you do you
but, based on what i, as a fan, can see with my eyes on the screen:
FTR fought aussie open at wrestledream and mark davis injured his wrist. i think it's possible aussie open was meant to win this match but an audible was called, based on the next thing.
same ppv, there was a fourway tag match for a guaranteed title shot for the tag belts, between the bucks, ass boys, lucha bros, and hook&oc. the bucks won this. i think the bucks would have made a GREAT first feud for aussie open as new tag champs to reaaally establish themselves: in the past year everyone's been saying FTR and the bucks are the greatest tag teams in the world, it would have been AMAZING for the new tag champs to beat both of them in a short time period.
but FTR took the belts home and mark davis disappeared while for a couple of weeks, kyle fletcher was constantly put in singles matches on both AEW and ROH. i know fan consensus seems to be he has been lost to the don callis hole but i think we need to be patient lmao: he was fighting bryan danielson, kenny omega, and takeshita all in singles not too long ago.
the bucks didn't mention their guaranteed tag title shot at all. At. All. they actually also had the ROH 6-man belts (which is what i think confirms that they were never meant to win the AEW tag belts back with said title shot) and had one match against the hardys & isiah kassidy with it and then lost it to the guys they won it off in the first place. absolute mess of a booking.
jericho and kenny started teaming up because.. they're both canadians? both have beef with don callis? this storyline depresses me so i won't pretend to know what happened exactly. but at the last ppv they had a match against the bucks where they could win their guaranteed title shot off the bucks or they had to disband. jericho and kenny won.
in the meantime, FTR have dropped their tag belts. word is that FTR aggravated assault has a rib injury but they've been wrestling pretty quick again since so i don't know if that was the reason for them to drop it. they dropped it by being squashed by ricky starks and big bill (absolute bill). absolute bill is a makeshift tag team who, in their own words, had never even talked to each other since a few weeks before they won these belts. literally the only matches they've had so far (despite ricky being on tv every single week for other things) were a match against claudiyoots (WHO SHOULD HAVE WON) and a fourway ladder match at the most recent ppv because (according to dirtsheets) none of the other teams wanted to be pinned by absolute bill lmao
so what i extrapolate from all this information is the following:
aussie open was meant to be tag champs by wrestledream
young bucks were supposed to be their first feud hence the tag title shot they got
thanks to injuries FTR ended up dropping the belts to absolute bill
young bucks did not want to lose to absolute bill so they are not using their tag title shot
(nobody wants to lose to absolute bill except for wheeler yuta apparently)
chris jericho got his claws into kenny omega and his greasy hands on the title shit because he doesn't mind losing to absolute bill. or hell maybe the "golden jets" (kenny and jericho's tag team name, referencing a nazi sympathizer) will be the next tag champs
i don't know how long mark davis' injury is expected to last. i think that if the "golden jets" got the belts and kept them warm for aussie open it could pivot into a cool storyline, especially if will ospreay joins AEW around the same time. or fucking hell maybe jericho could betray kenny and kenny teams up with ibushi again and the golden lovers actually win the belts, that'd be more fun. the bucks are missing in action since last ppv and the dirtsheet report is they're going to return as heels with their own faction, and heel!bucks could take the belts off kenny & jericho too, though i'm not really excited about that idea.
just to reiterate, this is just speculation based on what's happening on screen and i'm making theories about what's happening backstage for why the booking is so messy.
most of all i think the following is a good tldr
Orange’s POV
Getting into the rental after leaving the arena and putting my bags in the trunk, I realized just how sore and tired my body is. I checked my phone and seen a text from Y/N. I was sad they couldn’t make it to the show tonight but there is always the next one since they are on the road with me. ‘Hey I seen what Kyle did. Let me know when you’re on your way back to the hotel. I’ll try and figure out our dinner. I can’t wait to see you❤️’ I smile at the message and send back my reply and start the car to head to the hotel.
Laying on the bed at the hotel, I run my hand through my hair and think over everything that happened tonight. It was a long night between me defending my title and being attacked by Kyle Fletcher nothing sounds better than being here at the hotel relaxing with Y/N. Obviously after a nice shower and maybe, No hopefully dinner here in the room. Y/N had decided to go grab us some takeout after seeing how exhausted I was. I’m glad he agreed he also didn’t feel like going out tonight with everyone else. As a random tv show played on the tv I realized I can’t stay in this bed sweaty and sore, so I go to my bag and grab the things needed for my shower. I spot one of their shirts and smile, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if I just wore it tonight. After grabbing it I head into the en-suite and start my shower.
Y/N POV
Hopefully Orange is in the mood for some Chinese since this place seems like the less busiest place near the hotel. I couldn’t make it to the show tonight but I still tried to watch as much as I could. I was upset seeing him hurt after what Kyle Fletcher did to him. Especially after winning. I could tell he needed to relax tonight at least and hopefully he’s doing just that.
Sitting here scrolling through Twitter I see people are talking about what happened tonight. Some supporting Orange and some agreeing that Kyle should get the title. I rolled my eyes at the latter. If he wanted a title shot, attacking Cass isn’t the way to get it in my opinion. While people are posting pictures from tonight’s show, I retweet a few and send some of my favorites to Orange. “Order 47 your food is ready!” I hear from the front. I put my phone back in my jacket after texting Orange to tell him I’m on my way back and walk to the front to grab our food, I thank the workers and make my way back to the hotel. I couldn’t wait to help him feel better, he really deserves it especially after tonight
Orange’s POV
Fresh out of the shower I see the bruises have started to grow darker in color over my body. I groan and throw on Y/N’s shirt and my boxers then head back into the room to find something to watch. Finally just settling on a random movie, my phone lights up with a text from Y/N saying they’re in the lobby. I sigh happily. I truly didn’t think I’d find someone that makes me as happy as he does. A few minutes later the door to our room opens and I get up to greet them. “Shouldn’t you be laying down relaxing?” He asked as he set our food on the desk next to the tv. “What can I not hug you and say hi?” I reply, they smiled. “You just seen me 20 minutes ago. Also I got us Chinese, hope you’re up for that.” I nodded, “Yeah but I missed you.” I said as he put his jacket on the chair and took our food out of the bags and hugged me. I rested my head against his chest. “You had a rough night Cass, you should be relaxing.” He spoke after kissing the top of my head. His embrace felt like the one missing piece of me was finally completed, I never wanted to leave it. “I will after we eat.” I said as we grabbed our food and sat down to watch the movie.
After we finished our food I took both of our containers and threw them away as Y/N went to start getting ready for bed. I walked into the en-suite and started brushing my teeth. The shower turned off and they stepped out with a towel around their waist. I finished brushing my teeth and turned around, he was looking at me while smiling. “Is that my shirt?” He asked. I looked down at the shirt and blushed, “You mean our shirt?” I replied. He laughed and pulled me into another hug and kissed me. It felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. All my worries just washed away with one kiss and was replaced with love. We pulled away and I could feel myself blush harder, “Okay fine our shirt regardless, you look great in it.” He said while smirking, “Are you blushing Cass?” I smiled and looked down while shaking my head. Usually I’m the cool, calm, and collected type of person but around them I feel like a school girl with a crush. I wouldn’t trade it for the world either. He started to laugh again, “You’re lucky you’re cute and I like you.” I replied and walked back to our bed.
Y/N was done getting ready for bed and finally joined me under the blankets as another movie started. We started to cuddle with my head on his chest as he rubbed his hand up and down my back. “You know I was worried tonight after what Kyle did to you.” He said. I nodded, “It’s okay. It happens. All that matters is that I’m here with you now, happy.” I said. I could hear their heart speed up and smiled knowing I had the same effect on him as he did me. “I love you Orange.” “I love you too Y/N, so much. Thank you for staying by my side.” I replied as he kissed my forehead and I fell asleep feeling safe in my lover’s arms. No place in the world I’d rather be.
Saturday, November 13, 2021 Tokyo, Japan
After being forced to immediately tap out for a second time, Nellie was reminded why she simultaneously loved and hated training with Zack: she learned a lot, but he brought out her competitive streak in the worst way.
“You suck,” she breathed as he released her from the hold.
“Oh, don’t be like that, darling,” Zack smirked. “Thankfully, you don’t have to beat me to make the final tomorrow.”
Nellie rolled her eyes.
“No, but I’ll beat you if we don’t make it because you maimed my partner’s arm,” Torrance piped up from the ring apron. It made Taichi laugh, but Zack waved her off.
“Nell can handle it,” he said. He offered her his hand, and she took it and he pulled her up from the mat. Tomorrow, Nellie and Torrance would have the most important match of their short tag team career when they would face off against Mayu Iwatani and Rin Kadokura in the Block A final of the Goddesses of Stardom Tag League, and hopefully go on to the tournament final to earn a shot at the Goddesses of Stardom Championship. And because it was the biggest match of their tag team career thus far, Nellie figured why not enlist the best tournament tag team she knew in Dangerous Tekkers to help prepare her and Torrance.
“We have been going at it a few hours, though; I don’t want to push you too hard,” Zack said. “Is there anything else you want to go over?”
He looked between Nellie and Torrance, who looked between each other. “I’m good if you are,” Nellie said. Torrance agreed.
“Yeah, I’ve done enough sparring with Zack to last me a while.”
Zack grinned. “A bit more intensive than sparring with Robbie, is it?”
“Oi! I know you’re not talking shit.”
Robbie Eagles appeared almost as if Zack had summoned him. Nellie looked at Torrance again in surprise. But apparently, she hadn’t known Robbie would show up, either.
“What’re you doing here?” she asked him. “Don’t you need to be at Korakuen soon?”
“Yeah, but I thought I’d stop by on the way over, see how it’s going,” Robbie answered.  “And I walk in to hear Zack sullying my good name as a trainer.”
Zack shook his head. “No, mate, not as a trainer; just as a wrestler in general.”
Taichi laughed. Torrance did too and tried to hide it. Robbie gave Zack a flat look. “Fuck off,” he said, and then to Torrance and Nellie, “Are you packing up?”
“Oh, yeah,” Torrance answered. “I need a hot shower and a nap after what they just put us through.”
“As I said,” Zack commented, “more intensive than with Robbie.”
Robbie ignored him. “Are you not coming to the show?” he asked. But Torrance didn’t even need to think about her answer.
“Hell no. Taiji and Riley will both be there; you know I don’t like how they get around each other.”
The mood took an awkward turn then; so awkward, that Taichi took the opportunity to leave, waving to everyone as he went. But Torrance had a point: Robbie knew better than anyone, even Nellie, how Riley and Ishimori’s influence on each other’s behavior had played a part in Torrance and Ishimori’s break-up. He’d witnessed it firsthand during the brief period his and Riley’s time in Bullet Club had overlapped, and he’d been one of Torrance’s closest confidants after she’d left Ishimori. More than confidants, actually. But that had changed after Torrance and Nellie’s trip to London two months ago.
“We’re getting dinner and probably both having an early night,” Nellie said for Robbie’s sake more than Torrance’s. He looked like a wounded puppy, and she couldn’t take it. “Big day tomorrow, and all.”
Robbie nodded. “No yeah, I get it,” he returned. “I know you two will kill it.”
Another awkward silence started to creep in, and Torrance took it as her cue to exit. “Well, I’m gonna go; thanks again, Zack.” She looked at Nellie as she started to backpedal away. “I’ll text you later.”
“Yeah, see you,” Nellie said, and Torrance retreated into the locker room.
Zack tutted. “That was brutal, mate,” he said to Robbie. “I feel bad for calling you a shit wrestler now.”
Robbie gave a wry laugh. “Thanks. Well, good luck tomorrow, Nell. I’ll see you guys later.”
“Yeah, good luck tonight,” Nellie told him, and he waved and went back toward the exit.
“Are he and Torrance not a thing anymore?” Zack asked once Robbie was out of earshot.
Nellie sighed. “It’s complicated. I don’t know if they ever really were a thing, to be honest.” She grabbed her water bottle and phone from where she’d set them on a chair nearby. “But I’m gonna head out, too.”
“Hold on—Robbie reminded me,” Zack started, and Nellie paused to look at him. “Taichi was wondering if you’ll be accompanying us at all for World Tag League.”
Nellie’s mouth went dry. Admittedly, she’d been wondering the same herself, and with the annual tournament starting up tomorrow, she’d half-expected Zack to ask now that they were finally in a good place with each other again. And, unless she was imagining it, Nellie thought she saw a glimmer of hope in his eye that her answer would be yes.
But she couldn’t give him that. “I don’t know,” she uncertainly returned. “I mean, I’m not even in Suzuki-gun anymore, am I?”
It was more statement than question. As much as Nellie had liked to believe she’d been a full-fledged member of Suzuki-gun, she’d always felt like more of an affiliate, only there because she was with Zack; more included than Miho, but still less than everyone else. And so, when she and Zack had broken up, the tie had been severed—and it had taken him and Nellie a while to learn how to be just friends. She’d been a ghost in the weeks and months following their break-up, not attending a single NJPW event until she’d gotten together with Jay, and even then, she’d remained backstage. Wouldn’t it be out of line for her to just show up again after more than a year and a half away?
“It’s not Suzuki-gun, it’s Tekkers,” Zack reasoned. “And Taichi wouldn’t have mentioned it if he didn’t want you there.”
“What about you?”
The question came out before she could stop it, and she fidgeted, anxious. Zack’s eyes softened once more.
“I would like to have you out there with us again, yeah. We make a good team, Nell… platonically or otherwise.”
Nellie’s phone suddenly buzzed in her hand, and she looked down. It was a text, and the name on the screen made her stomach flip for a whole separate reason other than Zack hinting that maybe he was over just being friends.
“I don’t know, I’ll think about it,” she noncommittally returned; and then, like Taichi and Torrance minutes before, she hurried to leave. “Good luck tomorrow, though,” she offered. Zack sighed inaudibly.
“Yeah, thanks,” he said, and Nellie waved and headed off, unlocking her phone to respond to Kyle’s text as she went.
* * * *
Hours later, Nellie sat across from Torrance at their favorite greasy burger joint and downloaded her on her brief conversation with Zack—and Torrance’s assessment was decisive.
“Oh, he’s totally looking in the rear view hoping objects are closer than they appear.”
Nellie nearly choked on her drink.
“Seriously,” Torrance went on. “He sees you single again living your best life and now he wants you back.”
She shot Nellie a look that challenged tell me I’m wrong. Nellie sighed.
“I don’t know. You remember that night I talked to him after we had those tarot readings… he said it was inevitable we’d break up.”
“And now he knows he put his foot in his mouth,” Torrance returned. She smirked. “You and Zack are soulmates; your tarot reading said so.”
Nellie’s expression went flat. “And you thought Robbie was the Knight of Cups.”
Torrance visibly paused. “Okay, fair,” she admitted. “But all that aside, are you thinking of doing World Tag League?”
The corners of Nellie’s mouth turned down in thought. Part of her did miss accompanying Dangerous Tekkers to the ring; she’d had a lot of fun being an extra obstacle for their opponents throughout the 2018 and 2019 World Tag League tournaments. But a bigger part of her knew it wouldn’t be the best idea for her to participate this year.
“I don’t think so,” she decided. “Weirdness between Zack and me aside, I have enough on my plate with Stardom and RevPro already. Plus, Juice and Finlay aren’t in the tournament this year, and I always have the most fun fucking with them.”
Torrance smirked. “You’d do it in a heartbeat if Aussie Open were in it.”
Nellie didn’t want to smile, but she couldn’t help herself. “Probably.”
“Are you excited to see Kyle next weekend?”
Nellie paused. Again, she didn’t want to admit it. And yet, “I really am.”
Torrance grinned wide. “I knew you were, I just wanted to hear you say it.”
Nellie gave her the side-eye as she took another drink. But she couldn’t deny it—she was excited to see Kyle again. This was the longest she’d been away from England since she’d won the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship, and she and Kyle had never talked more. Texts, video calls coordinated around the time difference between Tokyo and London… a cheeky photo here and there. It wasn’t often that they didn’t send each other good morning and goodnight. And, terrifyingly, Nellie was starting to wonder if she wanted to tell everyone else to lose her number.
“So, are you gonna do more than just make out and cuddle with him this time?” Torrance asked.
Nellie sighed. “Why did I know you were gonna ask that?”
“Because you know you need to get dicked down,” Torrance returned. “Exorcise the ghost of Jay.”
Nellie laughed out loud. “Thanks, now I’m just thinking of Kyle’s dick like it’s some sort of holy instrument.”
“Maybe it is, you don’t know,” Torrance returned. “He could give you a religious experience.”
For the second time, Nellie nearly choked on her drink. “Anyway,” she segued once she’d recovered, “speaking of next weekend… are you gonna make it official with Will?”
Torrance went quiet and, when she didn’t answer after a few seconds, Nellie started to worry. But then she said, “Yeah, I think so.”
Nellie breathed out. “Thank God. You need to put Robbie out of his misery. I felt like I needed to take him out back and shoot him when you told him you weren’t going to the show tonight.”
“Well, I don’t know why he even asked!” Torrance proclaimed. “And I don’t know why he thinks there’s still a chance of there being anything between us, either.”
“Probably because he knows exactly how quickly you can change your mind.”
Torrance frowned at her. “Jeez, Nell, just come for my jugular.”
“I’m just being honest,” Nellie returned. “You know I thought you and Robbie would’ve been good for each other, but I also know neither of you could get out of your own way, so I don’t really blame you for jumping ship as soon as Will came along with clear intentions for what he wanted. But the sooner you make it crystal clear to Robbie that you’re with Will, the better.”
“I know, I will,” Torrance returned. “Actually, Will and I FaceTimed after I got home from training, and I almost wanted to say fuck it and make it official then. But I know I’d rather do it in person.” She drained the last of her drink and set the empty glass down on the table. “I don’t feel like going home yet,” she suddenly decided.
“I don’t either, actually,” Nellie agreed.
“Well, let’s go get a drink or two somewhere,” Torrance said. “We’re on a tag team run no one expected; we deserve to celebrate a little.”
“A little being the operative phrase,” Nellie stressed. “We need to be able to function tomorrow.”
“I know,” Torrance assured. “Like I said—just a drink or two.”
* * * *
Nellie should have known a drink or two would turn into three or four, and before she knew it, it was after midnight. But she was beyond worrying about being able to function for tomorrow’s match. It was late afternoon in London, and halfway through her third drink, Nellie hadn’t been able to stop herself from texting Kyle anymore. And, as inebriated texts so often went, the more they texted, the more risqué the messages became.
This isn’t fair, Nell. I haven’t seen you in two months and you’re teasing me with a week still left until you’re here. It’s cruel and unusual punishment.
Nellie bit back a grin as she responded. Do I need to send you something to tide you over?
“How’s Kyle?” Torrance asked with a knowing smirk.
“Fine,” Nellie returned; no more, no less. But then her phone pinged again.
Are you implying there’s something to tide me over for?
Heat rose in Nellie’s core, and she considered just telling him yes. But there was no fun in that. Maybe if you’re good, she typed back.
Kyle’s reply was immediate and simple. Fuck, Nellie.
Nellie grinned across the table at Torrance. “Do you think I should tell him you said his dick might be a religious experience?”
“What?” Torrance coughed. Rather than explain, Nellie just showed her her phone. When she was done reading, she let out a loud burst of laughter. “That’s up to you. But maybe you should send him something to tide him over, because the poor boy clearly isn’t gonna make it another week.”
Nellie laughed; but she looked back down at her phone in thought .
“You’re going to, aren’t you?” Torrance guessed.
“Maybe?” Nellie admitted. She was surprised at herself. “Jesus, I’ve never sent anything like that to anyone I wasn’t in a relationship with, but Kyle has me acting strange.”
Torrance smirked. “Religious experience,” she reiterated. “But also—you’ve sent Zack nudes?”
“That’s your takeaway here?” Nellie laughed.
“Yes!” She gasped in realization. “Did he send them to you?”
“Seriously?”
“Well! It’s hard for me to imagine Zack sending dick pics.”
“Are you trying to?”
Torrance’s eyes widened. “Okay, I’ve been drinking. That’s my excuse.”
“Uh huh,” Nellie returned. “I’ll be sure to tell Will that you’ve brought up both Kyle and Zack’s dicks in conversation.”
“In relation to you!” Torrance defended.
Nellie grinned; but it morphed into a yawn. “Okay… I think I’m ready to head out. It’s almost one, and drinking any more would be a bad idea.”
“And you want to get home and send Kyle a little something.”
Nellie didn’t justify that with a response. “I’m gonna go pay my tab,” she said. She reopened her messages with Kyle as she walked to the bar.
We’re heading out now. FaceTime when I get home?
I’ll be impatiently waiting, Kyle replied.
“Nellie!”
She stopped in her tracks. The sound of that voice threw her; she hadn’t heard it in months. But she turned toward it and did her best to pull her face into a smile when her eyes met Riley’s at the other end of the bar.
“Fancy meeting you here!”
He pulled her into a hug that Nellie robotically returned. Under different circumstances, she wouldn’t have been at all nervous to see Riley. But this was the first time she’d seen him since she and Jay had broken up, and she knew it would only be a matter of time before they’d have to address the elephant in the room.
“Don’t you have a big tag match tomorrow?” he asked. “Well, later today, I guess.”
“Ishimori isn’t with you, is he?” Nellie blurted, and she didn’t fully realize she had until Riley looked at her funny. “Torrance is here, too,” she explained with a glance back at their table, but it was empty. Torrance must have gone to the bathroom.
“Ah,” Riley nodded in understanding. “No, he’s not. Robbie isn’t here, is he?”
Nellie blinked. The question was a stark reminder of just how estranged Torrance had become from most of Bullet Club. “No. He and Torr aren’t a thing anymore.” She just left it at that. Riley didn’t need to know anything else.
“Well, thank God for that,” he breathed. Nellie pursed her lips, but Riley had already moved on. “You want a drink? It’s been a while.”
“Oh,” she fidgeted and glanced at the bartender who’d walked over to them. “We’re actually heading out. Like you said—big tag match tomorrow.”
“Oh; yeah, of course,” Riley said. There was an audible note of disappointment in his voice, and it almost made Nellie decide to stay for just one more round. But then the bartender asked Riley what he wanted and took Nellie’s name to run her tab. It was an awkward few seconds before Riley spoke up again.
“Hey, I know this is late, but… as much as I love Jay, he’s a fucking idiot.”
There it was, like finally ripping off a Band-Aid. Nellie frowned at him. “It’s been three months, Riley. You don't need to try to make me feel better.”
“I know, but I haven’t seen you since you two broke up,” he pointed out. “Have you not talked to him at all?”
She shook her head. “Not really. He’ll like an Instagram photo every now and then and throw me completely off-guard, but that’s about it. Why? Has he said anything to you?”
She knew Riley had seen Jay—they’d taped multiple episodes of NJPW Strong together over the last month—and she couldn’t help but wonder. Had Jay asked about her? Had he seemed at all regretful, as confused and sad about how things had ended between them as she still sometimes felt during quiet nights alone in her bed? As much as she wanted to know, Nellie wasn’t sure what she wanted the answer to be.
But Riley bobbled his head. “A little. I don’t know; I got the sense he felt awkward saying too much to me because he knows we’re close.”
Nellie laughed a bit at that. “Okay, but not closer than you and him are.”
“You don’t think so?” He sucked his teeth in disagreement. “I don’t know. I mean, we used to fuck.”
She snorted through her nose; but even though it was tactlessly made, he had a point. Nellie’s connection with Riley had always been special, in its own way. He’d been the first person to make her feel welcome when she’d left home to work for RevPro, nervous and alone and abroad for the first time. And yeah, at first maybe it had only been because he’d wanted to get in her pants, but they’d forged a genuine friendship—a friendship that might have been more, once upon a time. But Riley hadn’t been able to pull his head out of his ass, and so Nellie had moved on. And even though he’d acted cool about it, even a bit uncaring, when she’d started dating Jay a couple years later, Nellie had always gotten the sense that Riley was a bit wounded by their relationship, deep down. She knew some part of him still carried a torch for her. Some part of her still carried one for him, too. And then her lips tingled with the memory of something they shouldn’t have done, and she realized how close they were standing to each other, and the next words blurted out of her mouth like nervous vomit.
“I’ve sort of been talking to someone.”
Riley cocked his head at her, clearly surprised to hear it. “Who?”
Nellie hesitated. “Kyle Fletcher,” she mumbled. Riley didn’t hear her.
“Who?”
“Kyle Fletcher!” she loudly repeated—and Riley’s reaction was about what she expected.
“Kyle Fletcher?” His eyes practically bugged out of his head. “That twink Australian kid I used to live with? Isn’t he like, twenty?”
“Twenty-two,” Nellie firmly corrected. “He’ll be twenty-three next month. And he’s not a twink anymore, either.”
The bartender returned with Riley’s drink and her bill, and Nellie was grateful for the interruption. She should’ve just kept her mouth shut. Riley knew Kyle, really well—they’d lived together in England when they’d both moved there from opposite corners of the globe with a shared hope of making it in the business of pro wrestling. In fact, Nellie had first met Kyle not at RevPro, but during one of the occasions she’d spent the night with Riley. It made the current situation more than just a bit ironic.
“Man, you really like keeping it in my social circle, huh,” Riley commented.
“Oh fuck off, it’s not intentional,” she returned. “And it’s my social circle, too!”
“I know; I’m just giving you a hard time,” he said. “But it’s just a rebound, right?”
The question caught Nellie off-guard. She honestly hadn’t thought about whether Kyle was just a rebound or not. But the way Riley had asked—so assumptive, almost dismissive —made her feel suddenly defensive of Kyle. She almost wanted to tell him no, he’s not just a rebound.
“Why do you say it like that?” she returned.
Riley didn’t hesitate. “Because he’s twenty-two.”
Nellie rolled her eyes.
“I’m not judging!” he quickly added. “Do what you want with who you want, it’s none of my business. I just want you to be happy, Nell. I still don’t like that Zack broke up with you after you moved across the fucking world with him, and then Jay basically abandoned you. You deserve better than that. So, if Kyle’s making you happy, then by all means, fuck that twink’s brains out.”
“He’s not,” Nellie started to repeat, but she let it go with a sigh. “Thanks for the blessing though, I guess? I don’t know; I kind of figured you’d take Jay’s side. Not that there’s sides to take, but…”
She trailed off, leaving it at that. But Riley shook his head.
“No, I’m not taking sides. But for what it’s worth, if I had been in Jay’s position, you wouldn’t be talking to Kyle Fletcher right now.”
“Sorry, there was a line for the bathroom.” Torrance appeared not a moment too soon. She gave Riley a tight smile. “Hey; welcome back.”
“Hey; thanks,” he said. “Don’t worry, Ishimori isn’t here.”
Torrance’s brow puckered. “I wasn’t worried about it,” she dismissed. “We’re leaving, anyway.”
With that, she moved up to the bar on Nellie’s other side to ask for her bill. Nellie looked awkwardly back at Riley. She had to say something to cut the tension.
“So, first night of BOSJ… did you win your match?”
Riley rolled his eyes. “No. I tried to do the One Winged Angel, but Wato countered it and stole the pin.”
“What?” Nellie couldn’t help the way she laughed. “The One Winged Angel? Come on, Riley.”
“What?” he returned. “I was just trying to pay homage to one of Bullet Club’s best.”
Nellie just shook her head and rolled her eyes. She’d never really understood Riley’s antics. It was another reason she knew they wouldn’t have worked out as anything more than what they’d been.
“Ready?” Torrance came to stand next to her again. Nellie nodded.
“Yeah.” She looked back at Riley. “Well, good luck in the rest of the tournament. But maybe try sticking to your own moveset from now on?”
Riley rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. See you later.”
Nellie waved to him, and she and Torrance turned and left the bar. “What was that about?” Torrance asked as they pushed out the doors into the chilly autumn night.
“He tried to pull off the One Winged Angel,” Nellie explained.
“Ha!” she burst. “As if he could.”
* * * *
I’ll be home in five minutes, Nellie texted Kyle from the backseat of the Uber taking her home.
Okay :) Call when you get settled.
She smiled at the screen. Something about him using that style emoji warmed her heart.
The Uber pulled up to her apartment complex just over five minutes later, and she walked a little bit more quickly than normal, eager to get inside and settled. She rushed through her nighttime routine, too, brushing her teeth, washing her face, and applying her night cream before she changed into a soft pajama set and climbed into bed, phone in hand. She grabbed her charging cable and plugged it in, got comfortable, and called Kyle.
He picked up halfway through the second ring. His smile lit up her whole room even from thousands of miles away. It always did. “There’s my future tag team champion.”
Nellie grinned. “Don’t jinx it! We still have to win our block final before we even get to the tournament final.”
“I’m not jinxing anything!” he confidently proclaimed. “Next time I see you, you and Torr will be the number one contenders to the Goddesses of Stardom Championship. And I’m not just saying that to flatter you, by the way; I really believe it.”
Fuzzies warmed Nellie’s stomach. “Well, I am flattered, so thank you. That means a lot coming from you.”
“Well, you’re a great wrestler, Nell, genuinely,” Kyle returned. “You wouldn’t be the Undisputed British Women’s Champion if you weren’t—a two-time Undisputed British Women’s Champion, might I add, and the only American to hold the belt. And I know you’ll successfully defend it at Uprising next week, and then when you and Torr win the Stardom tag titles, we’ll be double champions together and take over the world.”
She laughed. “Oh really? That’s not a prediction, it’s a spoiler, is it?”
“I’m manifesting it,” he confirmed. “And when it happens, you might as well just join United Empire.”
“There it is,” Nellie smirked.
“Well, there’d really be no reason for you not to join, would there?” he rhetorically asked. “I mean, you already look good in green.”
Her stomach fluttered again. “You make a compelling argument.”
A corner of Kyle’s mouth quirked up. “I’ll try to make it even more compelling next weekend.”
With that single statement the tone of their conversation shifted from being playful to something deeper. There was desire in the way Kyle had said it; Nellie could see it in his face, sense it through the screen. It emboldened her to be upfront with him about how she’d been feeling, even if it scared her.
“Can I be honest?” she asked.
“I hope you would be,” he returned.
“I wish you were here.”
It was silly how nervous she was to admit that to him. But it was true. Nellie hadn’t felt this sort of schoolgirl giddiness toward anyone since Zack. With Riley it had just been about sex; any deeper connection they could have fostered was stifled by his complete emotional ineptitude. Then with Jay, everything had been so fast, so hot and then suddenly so lukewarm. They’d been in thick of their honeymoon phase when Jay’s loss to Kota Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 15 had unexpectedly pushed him over the edge, and even though he and Nellie had come back even stronger from that brief interruption, Jay had left Japan again just three months later, and their relationship was just sort of snuffed out by uncertainty. But these two months getting to know Kyle in a new light had felt more balanced, steadier and more deliberate. And yeah, part of Nellie was ready to admit that she was curious to see where it could go. But another part of her still wanted to guard her heart.
Kyle’s smile put another chink in her armor, though. “I’ve wished I was there or you were here since I woke up next to you the morning after High Stakes.”
Nellie couldn’t help it—she laughed. “Do you just think up lines like that and put ‘em in your pocket to use on girls?”
“Excuse me,” he returned, mocking offense. “It wasn’t a line, thank you very much. But I can understand why you’d think that because of how incredibly smooth it was.”
Another laugh. “It was incredibly smooth; I’ll give you that.”
“But I mean it,” he earnestly added. “And in the interest of being honest, I was honestly a bit disappointed when you told me you and Torr would be competing in the Goddesses of Stardom tournament, because I knew it meant you wouldn’t be back in England for a while. But at the same time, I was happy because you two absolutely deserve this shot and all the recognition that comes with it. But that being said… next weekend cannot get here fast enough, because all I’ve been thinking about for the last week is seeing you again.”
A wide grin broke out over Nellie’s face; a giddy schoolgirl, a million butterflies. Kyle had her acting strange—but she was more than willing to go along for the ride.
“Same,” she told him. “Next weekend definitely can’t get here fast enough.”
