You know the songs Karl and Vlad danced on foreshadowed their characters ending right?

Vlad dancing on true young lovers with lyrics being "I didn't wanna loose you, I didn't wanna loose you but I lost you anyway" with him dancing his mixture of emotions away

And Karl dancing to Ride Home with lyrics being "I'm coming home to you" with him throwing around all the expectations that his set on him - one being to live and do things his brother couldn't, he is letting go of all of that going home to meet himself and kissing Vlad was that - him embracing his sexuality

episode 10: just to see you

everyone is a suspect

the mystery solving continues for bingo and caroline. their abduction mystery board is shaping up to be a board of ties that are almosts but not quite. the first person of interest is edward, is the most obvious, the most convenient: bettina's fiancee.

caroline recounts her complicated family history, her gains and losses. she is forced to confront the quality of her relationships with all potential suspects, which are all one sided and on edge. every bond seems to treat caroline as an outlier, an option, almost, but not quite. a friend, the closest to a best friend, not a foe, but not a friend. they aren't their enemies, but they treat her like one.

making a living and trying to survive are distractions from mystery solving. bingo leaves her to her own devices, as he doesn't have the luxury of being idle. while away, bingo realizes the weight of being caroline tiu. he ponders on what it is to be a family, and to be claimed by one. his resolve to take responsibility, that began with his mother is sustained and nurtured by the experience of being taken in.

caroline continues to have bouts of trauma seeping through, which belle play's just right. subtle, not overly dramatic, but just as piercing. lola nene's attention to her takes her out of her head for a bit. as much as being doted on is a relief, the attention feels foreign to caroline. she slowly learns that not everything has a price, not everything can be bought with money. for lola nene, the safety of her family, her bingo is enough.

back in the enclaves of the elite, good friend stephen meets with irene to possibly see caroline again. this sets off irene, who does nothing to clear her name of the crime at hand. she digs her own grave deeper than necessary. this moment on this episode is surprisingly one of my most favorite moments. between maris and darren, it's quite powerful.

back on the mean streets of binondo, bingo and snoop decide to take matters into their own hands. they stealthily visit a wake of one of the fallen, and come across a man from whom they violently try to coax the truth. it was very action star-esque of donny (and anthony too), and it was a trip to see. it's a highlight, because it is moments like these where we see the whole acting thing to be transformative for donny. it's just a joy to see him completely lose himself in character, and not find a sliver of donny anywhere.

this encounter highlights the theme bingo being a protective presence in caroline's life. it stated with the small moments of bingo walking in front of caroline, walking in front of her, and my favorite display of being a protector is him being the first to know the seriousness of the danger that follows caroline and the magnitude of such danger. this theme threads through, and is further fortified in the most current episode of the show. we will talk about that when we get to that point, that episode post.

caroline hatches a plan of her own to get to the truth. she needs bingo, who refuses to pay for her cab fare, fair enough. on his terms, she rides a motorcycle, and this is the coolest she's ever been, and with the smirk of someone who knows more than he should, who cares more then he planned, they ride off into the urban jungle, the ice already thawing.

Looks like it's Ian and Paolo Pangilinan (no relation) as Vlad and Karl of Gaya Sa Pelicula aka Like In the Movies. It's my top show with a newbie-newbie pairing, and a fun one, even if the ending is bittersweet. They are delightful actors, both individually and together, and both turned in polished performances on this one.

If you've ever seen The Odd Couple and loved it you'll likely love this one as well. Also has some older queer rep.

trying not to fill all of the spots with msp songs either ngl ok so i actually listen to the original version by silly fools too but i just GOTTA mention this one specifically. i really enjoy this cover, i actually like it even more than the original! i like how they chose a slightly faster tempo, and it's just a lot of fun to listen to. partly also bc it feels (and looks) like the boys were having a whole lot of fun singing and performing this song as well and that brings me a lot of joy (i mean just look at the msp prom night performances from that song! fourth seems to be having so much fun with it, it's cute)

if you've followed me for a while and read my tags then you probably know that theory of love (and specifically the khaithird plot) was very important to me for personal reasons as it helped me deal with my very own personal irl-khai situation back in 2021. it's no wonder that at the time i was obsessed with this song, listening to it on repeat every day for weeks if not months. i don't listen to it as much anymore (and you know what that is?? growth!!!!) but the song (as well as the series) still holds a special place in my heart, though, and i'll still listen to it occasionally when it comes on and i'm in the right mood

1. 3 ships: Let's go with ones not (anymore) present on my tumblr: Thoman/Jimmy from Downton Abbey

They were my first tumblr fandom and what got me into reading fanfiction for good. Some of the most memorable fics I've read are Thommy ones. So much wasted potential!

It's been some years and I never caught up with their storyline in the final seasons but they had quite the hold on me.

Christian/Syed from Eastenders

I loved them so much. There might be some videos floating around YouTube with subs I (probably badly) translated into German if copyright strikes didn't get to them. But I hated their ending so much that some years later I was surprised to find out they hadn't actually died in some gruesome way which so many soap characters do but just moved to the US.

2. first ever ship: I couldn't say, there've been too many, and what constitutes as a proper ship? Perhaps one of the many soap opera couples I was obsessed with but even then I couldn't tell anymore which came first.

3. last song:

I came across it in my YouTube recommendations this evening and I quite like it, though it mainly caught my attention due to the very apparent debuccalization of s.

4. last movie: Two and One with Paolo Pangilinan from Gaya Sa Pelikula. Plotwise it fits the synopsis but also wasn't quite what I had imagined. I liked it but I haven't really dwelled on it and formed a proper opinion (yet).

5. currently reading: Nothing to be honest, not even fanfic. I have two books lying around with the intention of continuing to read them. I just about manage to keep up with fanfic updates, never mind starting new stories.

6. currently watching: I started rewatching (parts) of The Eclipse this evening. I am mainly after the Ayan/Akk scenes. I am also keeping up with Only Friends and My Personal Weatherman. And last week I started Okaeri Mone and, while I have only made a tiny dent in its 120 episodes so far, I am finding it to be utterly delightful and comforting in a way only Japan manages.

7. currently consuming: Food? Nothing. Last thing I had was a bar of my favourite chocolate.

8. currently craving: Murder. Bloodshed. Revenge. My asshole neighbour slammed his door as loudly as possible at 1 o'clock and I am out for blood. Or maybe I will destroy his door. Then he can't slam it either. Sleep would also be nice. But now I am too angry for that and plotting revenge. tagging @sorry-bonebag – Let's pretend you are 9 people in a trenchcoat.
