video editing is so fun... (specifically cutting down hours of gameplay into a highlights format)

#lizz.txt #it feels really ironic to post about video editing being fun when that's all i've been doing for the past 3 weeks LOL #but i haven't been able to edit something in highlights format since late november 2023 (which is my favorite type of editing)#technically i could've edited the big run recording from december but i was intimidated by the 12 hr-ish length #but after working on my friend and i's video essay im like 'actually cutting down 12 hr footage is way easier' LMAOO #and since im 99% done with that and i had some time to spare tonight i started to work through some recordings :D #there's two major ones i want to work through... a splatoon 1 revisit with friends + big run #hoping to have those done by the end of february at the latest!! but ideally i'd like to have it done earlier because!!!#i'm interested in recording eggstra work (not that they've announced it) as well as um. reload #i have so much positive regard for the characters in p3 that i'm like 'i don't think i can control the words that come out of my mouth-#when i'm very excited about something' so i'd like to have my playthrough documented somewhere LOL even if i dont post it!!!#sometimes i think about how when i was playing fe3h i got to the sylvain and felix A+ support and HOW I LOST MY MIND ON VC #and IT WAS SO FUNNY bc i spent like 10 minutes watching that support conversation because every line of dialogue made my brain explode #AND SOMEWHERE in the middle of it my mom called me and i was like (hyperventilating) “HI MOM! DID YOU KNOW! I LIKE VIDEO GAMES!”#or something like that. i can't remember i was kind of lightheaded but anyway im kind of sad that there's no physical proof that happened #ANYWAY i fully expect that reload will make me jump and down ontop of a matress in some shape and form like idk i just like kitaro a lot #but also because purse owner games are LONG im like 'jfc that's going to be a lot of GB. i need to edit my current recordings-#so that i have enough space to accomodate for that' FDKLHLFDH. hence... wanting to work on my video projects #BUT I SO DESPERATELY WANT TO DRAW TOO.. oh the woes of being a multicreative. its ok! i like having hobbies to bounce between #they call it persona 3 reload because it reloads my brain ammo and revitalizes my creative efforts (joke)#seriously though i've been itching to doodle more p3 but im like 'what the FUCK are ideas that aren't splatoon' (this is what happens when-#you only play splatoon. your brain gets filled with SQUIDS!!!). anyway. i hope everyone's had a nice january so far!!! :D #i am always in a constant state of excitement and overload and i needed to get this out somewhere!!#BUT ALSO i want people to know that i like video editing. and that i am looking forward to making videos. while also drawing :3 #i will post and share the videos i make here. whenever they're done. LOL. sorry not sorry for filling up your screen with tags <3

Hey hi, hope you're doing well, just had a thought given the date, I think I saw you post a wenclair groundhogs day au drawing (the movie <3) sometime maybe on Twitter and not here idk, I just want you to know I think about that a lot and would love to see it again? I think i posted that on here as well, but I'm not that sure :') In other news, I've been super swamped with things and classes as of late so I haven't been able to get around to doing as much as I would've liked here and on twt (not that i feel like posting there as much with the new policies tho).

I actually didn't know people had a specific attachment to my groundhog au either? But I'm happy to hear it! I really do love that au and I'd love to do more when i find the time!

people keep saying "no one reads PhD theses, stop trying so hard, stop putting so much pressure on yourself"

those people are also like. people i consider slackers who did bad science and cut corners.

and i know there's a lot of those out there. and there's a lot of mediocre theses.

but peoples' theses are actually the places where I've learned the most about my field. Things that haven't been published anywhere else. Weird results that weren't included in the paper because it didn't fit, but are actually really important to the day to day practice of working with a given molecular system. Or the author explained things in a way that is more detailed and broken-down than the intro to any experimental journal article would ever allow, and more niche than any review article would ever want to be.

i have read many, many theses!

and as difficult as it is to think that someone will ever read mine, I really do hope that someone does, someday, and benefits from it.

and i hate to be cheesy but i do think about the comments i get from readers of my fanfic, and I am just as flabbergasted and grateful that people read those and find something personally beneficial from them.

the two endeavors go hand in hand for me. creative outlets in different ways. I do both creative endeavors just for me, because I love them and i'm curious and it's a means to explore the universe in a medium that's fun to me (for the most part). that it might benefit anyone else is secondary, and utterly shocking. i know it's silly to draw any sort of parallel between writing for a popular ship in a large fandom, and writing my phd thesis, and i really don't want to draw too many parallels that don't exist. but there's something there. idk.

like to be clear i have way lower personal standards for fic than science. obviously. and no matter how useful my thesis work is, it's not going to save someone's life or anything. but.

idk i'm just so grateful for my readers, and i guess maybe they make me feel like my thesis really could be helpful to someone. like i'm able to do it in one realm of writing, so i should be able to do it in another. idk. the endeavor is worth i for it's own sake. idk.

I'm very very tired and stayed late in lab for an experiment that didn't work so my brain isn't functioning properly anymore and i should sleep but i'm just. thinkin. idk.

Hello mädch!! i saw that you got settled into your dorm and I hope you're well <33 i saw that you also answered my ask from earlier in the week,, and tbh I haven't done much, which is fine :') but today was pretty good!! We went over to a relative's house to have a bbq and the food was really good T—T we visit them sometimes to exchange food but it was the first time in a while we got to sit down, have a meal, and talk. also one of them (who was visiting too) is a prof so we talked mostly abt uni stuff and it eased some of my nerves. And they have a dog so I got to play w her as well (◍•ᴗ•◍) goddd she's so cute and has a lot of energy,, I wish I could show you photos T_T

unfortunately I STILL haven't finished the gifset,,, been v lazy this week and bc it's a compilation and I'm using diff kpop mvs it takes longer bc I can't just slap the same psd to everything. I've also noticed recently that my desire to gif/draw/be creative is usually when I am busiest, and then when I Do have time I don't utilize it to its extent. When a bunch of gambler content was coming up I'd see so many things I want to gif but that was also when I was super swamped in school so I just downloaded videos to gif later T—T and now that I am done w school I use it to be lazy aka catch up on sleep hahahaha. That being said though I've been drawing quite a bit lately (*´꒳`*) anyways I hope you sleep well tonight! - 🌱
