Wave 3 Furblets Confirmed!
Thank you SO MUCH to @ssm0770 for finding and sharing a document containing product names, from a French Hasbro website! (archived link)
Wave 2

The other two unrevealed Furblets meant to be a part of this wave could be Greenie Meanie and May-May (unless they're going to be different; Idk).
Wave 3
Wave 1 and 2 consist of 6 Furblets, but the document reveals the names of seven other Furblets. SSM0770 mentioned Sno-Way is a seasonal Furblet (the document mentions a pack of two seasonal Furblets, and the existence of a spring Furblet, so Sno-Way could be considered separate from wave 3? Don’t know for sure if Sno-Way is included in that pack). None of the names listed below are mentioned on Entertainment Earth's website for wave 2.

Peter Mum's Soda Bread Recipe
Tumblr media
With work around here the way it is at the moment, most likely EuropeanCuisines.com won't be up again until the end of the year. (shrug) Such is life.
With that in mind, here per @the-book-of-night-with-moon 's request is the famous soda bread recipe that brought people to the site again and again for a couple of decades. If the recipe below seems very plain, that's because the way soda bread is done in North America and elsewhere in the world is not how everyday soda bread's made in Ireland. No fruit, no sugar—except for an optional spoonful if the baker likes it: I omit it—no nuts or other similar addenda: nothing but flour, salt, soda and (ideally) buttermilk. (Breads here that do have fruit and whatnot are referred to as "tea breads" or "fruit soda".)
The ingredients:
450 g / 1 lb / approximately 3 1/4 cups flour (either cake flour or all-purpose)
Optional: 1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
Between 300-350 ml / approx 10-12 fluid ounces buttermilk, sour / soured milk, or plain ("sweet") milk, to mix
If you're using plain milk, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder to the dry ingredients. This is perfectly legit; lots of professional bakers in Ireland do their soda bread this way, without the buttermilk and with additional raising ingredients besides baking soda.
So: preheat your oven to 200C / 400F. Meanwhile, mix the dry ingredients together well in a good-sized bowl, and then add the liquid and mix everything together. Like this:
youtube
That raggedy texture you see in the middle of the video is exactly what you want, and part of the secret of getting soda bread to rise properly. You have to get the loaf done as quickly as you can, so that the rise in the oven is maximized; and with minimum handling. This isn't a bread that needs to be kneaded. Just get it into a soft, mostly-cohesive lump as quickly and gently as you can, and shape it into a round about an inch to an inch and a half thick.
Finally have ready a really sharp knife to do that final cross-cut, which allows the loaf to spread and rise fully. Be careful to slice, not press. You don't have to cut incredibly deep: from a third to halfway down the round is plenty. ...There's endless online lore about how this is supposed to let the fairies out. Fond as I am of fairies, I prefer to think of it as letting the chemistry and physics out. (shrug) To each their own.
As soon as the oven's come up to heat, shove the loaf into the center of the oven on a nonstick baking sheet—I used a silicone mat here, but more for the look of the thing than any real concern about the loaf sticking—and bake it for 40 minutes. When you're done, it should look something like the one in the picture at the top of the post. It'll be easier to eat if you let it cool down most of the way; and a lot easier to slice if you put it in a paper or plastic bag overnight.
Anyway, tomorrow, so @petermorwood won't sulk, I'll make soda bread in the farl style instead of the above style that some of the locals call "cake". Farl's done on a griddle and cut into quarters for baking, and its geometry makes it uniquely suited (as Peter's father used to say) for eating large amounts of butter without a spoon. :)
ETA: attn @middleagedandoutoftouch: Check out the gluten-free soda bread from Ballymaloe. ...And there seem to be quite a few more of them out there: try this Google search.

finished my steel ball run bag 😗✌️
(some project notes below)
When I work on these projects, I usually make notes (typically voice recordings) throughout so I can organize my thoughts about the piece. I usually delete the recordings right after I've listened back to them, but since this project was a big learning experience, this time I feel like documenting some of my notes in writing.
This has been one of my favorite projects I've ever worked on! I got to try a lot of new things and work on improving certain techniques, overall I feel like I was successful in executing what I'd intended.
Some stuff that was new for me:
Embroidering on this weight/weave of fabric
Adding shading freehand after handwashing
Using a different handwashing technique to keep the integrity of the stitches
Using a greater variety of floss, as well as marker, pen, and pencil, to try to create a greater range of value for shading
Process:
Selecting the image - this took a lot longer than I thought, since many of my favorite JoJo characters/panels have features in them that wouldn't translate well to embroidery. I wanted to choose something that would look great in black and white too. I chose this one because it had a level of detail that wasn't unmanageable, the shading is primarily done with lines/hatching (so no complicated, small patterns), and I knew anything I'd have to add or omit to make it more effective as an embroidered piece wouldn't fuck with the depth (or recognizability) of the piece. Making the pattern - as usual, I used Procreate to edit the pattern. I took more time than usual to remove shading that I would be adding in after the wash. This included the big blocks of dark shading as well as any lines that were long and fine. Stitching the base design - for this piece I used my usual 1-2 strands of DMC embroidery floss, but for some of the bolder features, I used DMC Pearl Cotton 12 floss. I really liked using this, even though it's still 2 strands of floss, the fact that they are twisted together helped create a nice bold line that held up well in the washing.
Here's an in-progress pic. One area where I used the 12 Pearl Cotton was the outlining for Johnny's hat, which I think looks really nice and bold here!
Tumblr media
(Before step 4, I'll clarify that I use a printable stabilizer to transfer patterns to the fabric - it's basically a sticker you can print directly on, stick to your fabric, stitch through, then wash out with water. It's great if you're like me and not good with tracing, drawing freehand, or usually use designs that are too detailed to use something like your average transfer pen for. But if you have an Inkjet printer especially, you will want to use as little ink as possible to reduce the risk of staining...honestly, if you have any questions about this product, feel free to ask me - I have a lot of experience with/thoughts on it lol) Washing - I opted to wash this piece in the hoop. I wanted to maintain the tension of the fabric while washing to hopefully minimize the warping I've experienced when washing in the past. I also didn't agitate the fabric as much or use any kind of soap or detergent to wash away the adhesive. This was really successful - not only did the stitches stay even, I didn't encounter any staining, which I'm really pleased about! Here's what it looked like post-wash, before I started shading:
Tumblr media
Shading - this was the most intimidating part of the piece for me...I'm not someone who's very knowledgeable about the technical aspect of visual art, so the idea of placing shading lines without a guide was kind of scary. I followed the shading on my reference image more or less exactly, although I did omit some stuff that I thought would look too heavy.
I used a mix of sewing floss, pencil, marker, and pen to give myself some flexibility when it came to line weight and gradients. There were a couple areas where I knew floss would be too intense, such as the lips and eyes, the underside of Gyro's goggles, and the horse on Johnny's hat. For the horse and goggles, I used the texture of the fabric to my advantage, the rougher texture was definitely conducive to achieving a textured effect similar to the original image. I opted to shade in the underside of Gyro's hat completely black to complement that huge block of black shading on Johnny's neck. I used a regular 0.38 nib pen to add some details to Johnny's eyes and lashes too.
I'm mostly really pleased with the shading, except for the shading along Johnny's nose. tried to go in and fix it, but with a fabric this weight, I was hesitant to pull out stitches and completely redo it because I don't want to leave noticeable holes in the piece. If it keeps bothering me, I might go back and fix it later.
Final thoughts:
This piece really encompassed everything I like about doing this kind of embroidery. In real life, I get asked a lot by family and friends why I choose to embroider things from manga/anime instead of my own original designs. One of the main reasons I do this is because as someone who got into manga for the art, I find it's a really fun and hands-on way to "study" the work of artists I enjoy. Through translating it to embroidery, I have to pay attention to a lot of details about a piece I might not have otherwise. And I almost always pick up on something really interesting and exciting when I do this!
I knew I wanted to embroider something from Steel Ball Run when I reached the part of the manga where Araki's art shifted more to the detailed, dramatic, and cinematic. But having read the colored version, I didn't really appreciate how difficult it can be to achieve this level of detail and drama in black and white, especially without the use of digitally added texture. Through making this piece, and particularly while doing the shading, I really began to respect the amount of skill it takes to do something like this.
Overall, I think this is the most satisfied I've been with something I've embroidered. I'm a huge perfectionist about my embroidery so I'll always have something to nitpick, but even so, I can honestly say I'm really pleased with how well the process I'd planned out translated to the final product. And I'm really pleased with my progress overall.

Why did you only describe one of the images in the city council post?? I guess blind people only need to know about the cops standing there and not any of what’s actually being said in the tweets which are the bulk of the post?
i really want you to understand that omitting something from a caption doesn't mean I hate and want to oppress blind people. You're throwing a bunch of imagined shit onto me before even asking me why it was missing or asking me to include the full text. This kind of demeaning comment is just shitty behavior on your part. The only reason I'm not blocking you is because I think accessibility is necessary and I want to address that here.
I don't have much free time but I split it for this tumblr. I'm one person building an archive of police violence on my personal blog, I'm not a whole publisher with full time staff. If I forget something, literally anyone is free to send an anon ask telling me (if you can't add it yourself). I'll be more mindful in the future to build fuller captions when I have the time.

Hello Alex, I hope you're having a good day. I want to keep an open mind here and I'm hoping you could please explain your dislike for the oxford comma. From your other posts and prior conversations, your strong critical thinking skills are more than evident and it is a primary reason I admire you. I'm hoping that this can be a chance to understand your perspective and perhaps open my eyes to a new point of view. Thank you for your time. Best, Renu
first off, i am a little crosswired on perception of visual stuff like writing or images. chartreuse sounds like a trombone. 5 is a friendly number but 3 is an annoying sibling and 7 is ready to shank me at all times. looking at the number 7 or numbers divisible by 7 makes me skittish. my teachers literally gave up on getting me to memorize my times tables for the number. basically, sometimes i have a weirdly visceral reaction to the way some things are presented visually.
dos! a thing to know about me is that i'm extremely claustrophobic. if it's less than 4 floors, i will walk up those stairs. i've walked up more than that if the elevator looked too small.
So: punctuation is maybe a bit more emotional and personal to me like it's not nuts and bolts it's about Feelings. the em dash is cuddly and the semi-colon is friendly and the comma is a warm hand on your shoulder. however! if someone puts a hand on your shoulder too many times maybe you get uncomfy! maybe it triggers my claustrophobia to see all these letters and words TRAPPED by hands and held in place. WHERE IS THE EMERGENCY EXIT. MAYBE I WILL TRIP OVER A COMMA SOMEONE LEFT IN THE WAY AND BURN TO DEATH.
THREE. i was left unsupervised with david foster wallace's non-fiction essays while in elementary school. nothing makes you want to break the english language like reading DFW while you're also learning how to write a five paragraph essay.
when a teacher fiiiiiinally told us we could stop doing five paragraph format essays i was in heaven.... i still got docked a lot of points for things like "run on sentences" and "overuse of semi-colons" but i was FREE to write one sentence paragraphs to punctuate my thoughts.
F O U R TH... i grew up reading the nytimes which meant also reading the nytimes style guide bc i was a little weirdo and they say not to use an oxford comma. literally i was in middle school and loved reading william safire's 'on language' column.
Cinq du soleil: ezra koenig was my tutor for a bit
VI: something about it having a special name just raises my hackles. oh, you're a comma with a special use? no. we are all commarades here. now stop trying to trip me while i make my way to the emergency exit.
[🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪] i like the little mystery of omitting the oxford comma! it adds a bit of flair! am i saying nelson mandela is an 800 year old demi-god and a dildo collector? didn't i just introduce a little intrigue into your day making you think about it? (also here's how to fix that headline without using an oxford comma)
8. idk man. the oxford comma? the serial comma? are we talking punctuation or jack the ripper?

Free coffee, you say? If you're inclined, how do you engage with your spirituality using your physical senses (reserve certain incense blends for specific workings, songs for particular deities, tradition-specific crafts, etc)?
It is hard to answer precisely because looking for spirituality in or through the physical is not something I get to do: all is simultaneously physical and spiritual at all times, but also my operation within my praxis is such that I do not need to consider it, necessarily, when making choices. Everything that enters my space is already carefully chosen. It may sound like a tedious approach, but the honest answer is that I am religious enough for it to become the unconscious basis of my thinking, - as well as terribly picky.
Add to the inseparability my allergy to sharing too many specifics of my daily life, ha.
I would like to say that it is impossible to practice without it, really, but that would be omitting traditions that actively work to avoid the involvement of stimulating physical experiences in the lives of their followers. Would the, lowercase P, puritanism be considered abstinence, or a way to connect to the divine through self-denial which is likewise physical? Ah well.
Where is that post about a Protestant being outraged by an Orthodox service? I should really have found it for Easter.
