I’ll Be Home for Christmas [Lindsey Horan x Reader]

requested by anon: Bro you’re amazing!!! I was wonder if you could do one with Lindsey where Reader is like a badass military person who has been away for a long time and like surprises her at team dinner or something. And Tobin is totally in on it and helps reader out. Bonus if reader is totally soft for Lindsey.

“Linds?” Emily snaps her fingers in front of her best friend’s face. “You there?”

“Yeah, sorry.” Lindsey shakes her head, pulling herself out of her daze.

“Well,” Sonnett drawls, “as I was saying, I have your sweater here.” The defender holds up an ugly Christmas sweater with snowmen and reindeer adorning it.

“My sweater?”

“Remember? We’re all matching!” Emily exclaims. The youngsters and Kelley had all planned on wearing matching sweaters to the USWNT’s holiday party that this was evening.

“Oh, yeah,” Lindsey sighs with realization, her thoughts still miles away. Noticing her friend’s distant eyes, Emily’s face softens.

“Lindsey, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” she huffs. “I just miss (Y/N) so much, and I wish she was here to celebrate Christmas with me.”

The blonde defender feels her heartbreak for her friend. “Linds, I know she misses you just as much as you miss her, probably even more.”

The two women both let out a soft laugh at that, as you were completely smitten with your girlfriend.

“And I know,” Emily continues, “that she wishes she could be here with you too.” She reaches out to squeeze Lindsey’s hand.

The midfielder nods and gives the other woman a small smile. “Thanks, Em.”

“Anytime,” Sonnett says with sincerity lacing her voice. “Now, put on your sweater. We have a party to go to!”

Lindsey just laughs at her friend’s antics, as the defender jumps up from the bed and heads out the door. After pulling on the ugly Christmas sweater, Lindsey glances down at her phone, staring longingly at the photo of you and her on her lock screen, before heading down to the conference room.

As you slide into the backseat of an Uber, you feel your phone vibrate, as a text from Tobin appears on your screen.

Tobin:

Hey u on ur way?

(Y/N):

Yup, leaving the airport rn

Tobin:

👍🏼 we’re about to start white elephant

We’ll be in a conference room so j text me when ur here and I’ll meet you in the lobby.

(Y/N):

Will do. Thanks Tobes

Shutting off your phone, you turn your attention to outside your window, taking in the streets of Denver you’d missed so much.

For the past year, you’d been deployed overseas in Afghanistan, meaning, except for the Skype calls and the occasional letters, you haven’t seen your girlfriend, Lindsey, in almost thirteen months. But now, after few complications on your last tour, you had been honorably discharged and were now on your way to surprise Lindsey at her national team camp.

The last time you spoke with your girlfriend, you had told her that you wouldn’t be able to spend Christmas with her, but you after hearing the news you’d be able to go home, you schemed with Tobin to surprise the blonde midfielder.

So here you are, sitting in an Uber, stilled dressed in your green camouflage uniform and combat boots, on your way to the DoubleTree hotel in downtown Denver to crash the USWNT’s white elephant party.

Meanwhile, at the hotel, Tobin joins her teammates in the conference room, where there’s decorations all around and presents on the front table.

Seeing that everyone has arrived, Megan gets up from her set and moves to the front of the room, where she starts to give some instructions. “Alright, everybody, we’re gonna get started. Did everyone pick up a number on their way in?”

The girls nod, waving their slips of paper in the air, a chorus of yeses wave amongst the crowd.

“Okay, the rules are simple. When it’s your turn, you can either go up and pick a gift from the table,” She gestures to the table crowded with bags and wrapped boxes. “Or you can steal someone else’s gift who picked before you.”

“And you can only steal before you pick a gift,” Becky adds, earning a couple snickers from the veterans, as they remember HAO’s mishap all those years ago.

“Yes.” Pinoe nods. “And if your gift is stolen, you then have the option to steal or pick another one. Everyone got it?”

With no objections, she claps her hands. “Alright, let’s get started. Who’s got number one?”

Tierna raises her hand and gets up from her seat. “Me.” The young defender approaches the table and scans the selection of gifts, before ultimately picking a small rectangular box wrapped in polka dotted paper.

“What is it?” Kelley calls out, eagerly bouncing in her seat.

“Trader Joe’s chocolate,” Tierna reveals, waving the gift for all to see.

This routine continues down the line of women, the first steal not coming until number 10, when Ash decides to steal Mal’s scarf.

As Sonnett, who had number 13, one before Lindsey’s, picks out a gift, Tobin feels her phone vibrate.

(Y/N):

Here in the lobby.

Tobin:

👍🏼 cool. I’ll come get you in a sec. it’s Lindsey’s turn next.

“Who’s next?” Emily shouts, as she returns to her seat with the phone case she’d unwrapped.

“Me.” Lindsey gets up and makes her way towards the table. But before she can pick a present, Tobin stops her.

“Wait, I forgot to put my gift up there.”

Many of the women who had already chosen voiced their displeasure and annoyance.

“What? Come on, Tobin, seriously?” Kelley exclaims.

“We already started! You can’t just add your gift into the mix now.” Emily whines.

“Chill, you guys.” Tobin just smirks. “Besides, I’m pretty sure Lindsey would’ve stolen this gift if any of you had chosen it.”

Sonnett just mutters something under her breath, still not satisfied that she’d missed out on another gift option.

“I’ll be right back. Don’t pick yet,” Tobin tells the younger midfielder, pointing at her.

Quickly, Tobin jogs out to the lobby, where you’re standing awkwardly with your duffle bag on the floor next to you.

“(Y/N)!” She calls out to you from across the room. Hearing your name, you eyes perk up, and you smile upon seeing your friend. As Lindsey’s girlfriend of almost three years, you’d spent quite a lot of time in Portland, meaning you’d gotten quite close to the older woman.

“Hey, Tobes.” You pull her in for a hug.

“Missed you, (Y/N/N).”

“I missed you too, T,” you say, nerves evident in your voice.

Sensing your nerves, Tobin chuckles. “You ready to see your girlfriend?”

You just nod, unable to find the words to describe the emotions you’re feeling.

“Well, come on then.”

As the two of you make your way down the hallway, you can hear the loud voices and laughter of the team, and you feel the anticipation bubbling up inside you. But when you approach the door to the conference room, you push down whatever nerves you have, as you catch a glimpse of your girlfriend and hear the sound of her voice for the first time in a little over a year.

“I’m back,” Tobin announces. “And with my gift this time. I hope—”

Before the midfielder can finish, Lindsey spots you over Tobin’s shoulder and lets out a scream.

“Oh my gosh!”

A wide smile breaks out across your face, as you drop your bag to the ground and open your arms. Lindsey immediately runs across the room and crashes into you, bringing you in for a bone-crushing hug.

As she buries her face in your neck, you can feel tears wetting your skin. Cradling Lindsey’s head, you whisper sweet nothings into her ear, tears pooling in your own eyes.

“I’ve missed you, Linds. I love you so so much. Shh, baby, I’m here now.”

Lifting her head to look at you, Lindsey breathes in adoration and shock, her eyes teary. “How?”

“I’ve been honorably discharged,” you explain, as you brush the blonde hair out of her face, taking the time to admire your girlfriend. “So I’m home for good. So long as you’ll have me?”

Lindsey just shakes her head in disbelief and lets out a wet chuckle before connecting your lips. You melt into the kiss, ignoring the cheers and whistles from the women around you, as you revel in the feeling of Lindsey’s body against yours.

Pulling back, you grin. “Gosh, I’ve missed you.”

“I missed you, too.” She pecks your lips again. “So much.”

“C’mon.” You take her hand, intertwining your fingers. “Let’s go sit and celebrate.”

As she leads you back to her seat, the rest of the team, who you’ve also gotten to know quite well, stop you for smiles and hugs of their own.

“Welcome home, (Y/N).” Ashlyn slaps your back, squeezing your shoulder.

“Thanks, Ash.”

“(Y/N)!!” Emily shouts, hopping onto your back.

You laugh at the defender’s childish behavior. “Come on, Sonny, get off.”

“Fine,” she pouts, jumping down, before hugging you. “Missed you.”

“I missed you too, Em,” you whisper.

Once you sit down, Lindsey plops herself down in your lap. Instead of protesting, you just chuckle and wrap your arms around her waist, placing a kiss to her neck.

“I love you, Linds.”

“I love you, too, (Y/N),” she hums, relaxing into your embrace. “My very own Christmas miracle.

today i did a lot of modeling,, as much as i love it so, it can be difficult when narcolepsy kicks in mid session!! i was perfectly posed when i suddenly felt such strong exhaustion, so i was forced to take a nap and then had to do it all over again!! i got some nice photos though, so it paid off in the end 🌠 (4/7)

and i got to spend some time picking flowers outside,, it was warm out so i was very relaxed!! i put some of the flowers in my hair because i thought it would be funny, and it actually looked kind of cute when i saw my reflection!! 🌺 (5/7)

oh, and one of my favorite holidays comes soon!! it's called ferragosto, and it marks the end of the italian summer harvest,, and we italianos normally celebrate with the day off, beach trips, and little festivals!! since the pandemic is pretty troubling here, i'll be celebrating at home with my family this year!! we're going to cook an entire feast,, with pasta and fresh bread, and even a timpano!! What is the best thing that has ever happened to you? The partial hospitalization program that saved my life, literally. Do you have a hard time letting things go? It depends on what it is, but generally, yes. I recently realized one of my greatest flaws: I respond very, very poorly to loss, in any way. Looking back on people (especially people), events, other things... a negative, chronic reaction to loss is present throughout. What have you accomplished in life that has made you the most happy? Emotionally healed, a lot. I don't think some things will ever fully scar over, but nevertheless, I don't mentally have fuckin gashes in me. Have you ever struggled with your weight? Ever since the breakup, yes. I thought I was slightly fat before then, but looking at pictures now, I just think "damn hunny u look gud" and realize I was perfectly healthy. But anyway, I was put on a medication called Abilify (full-on name droppin', fuck this med), and it MURDERED my metabolism. I could eat a fuckin carrot and gain five pounds, probably. Emotional eating probably contributed too, but here's the thing: my current doctor took me off of it, knowing the moment I mentioned it that it was not only bad for me and my conditions but also responsible for the extreme weight gain? Pounds dropped like a ton of bricks, and this started before my emotional eating began to die off and regulate. I lost around 80 pounds just from dropping a goddamn pill. Cue college essay-long rant here about how my body image was slaughtered, how much I loathe the fucking doc that kept me on the med and blamed everything on me, and now how I've been stuck weight-wise for two years despite a vast plethora of methods to continue shedding a;sdlkfajkwlelawe GUYS I could rant til my hypothetical great-grandchildren die. When you are out with your friends are you loud and outgoing or shy and reserved? It depends on who the friend is, where we are, etc., but generally, I'm just awkward, trying to be outgoing when in fact I'm questioning every single thing I say and do al;wekjrkawde this survey has taken a TURN. I have a large chunk of metal musicians I listen to, and those especially like Jonathan Young blow my fucking mind they haven't technically "made it," even if they have a large subscriber base. Have you ever had a dream where you died? Did anything weird happen to your body after it? Yes, a few. Now hang with me, okay? One of my worst nightmares as a kid involved the wicked witch from TWoO turning me into one of those fucking party things that you blow into it and the paper unfurls and her using it killed me. Yo idk. I was really scared of that witch as a kid. What’s the scariest dream you’ve ever had? How about the most realistic? It involved my dad and that's all that needs to be said. Realistic? Hm. This was SO long ago that I barely remember *just* how real it felt, but I remember it felt real as fuck. I was very little when this happened. I dreamed that I went outside to our porch because there was a weird light and when I stepped outside, a swan and a goose flew down from the light onto the porch to become my late grandpa and my deeply beloved cat Midnight, who died from sickness. I'm sure it was just a dream now, but back then, I was VERY convinced it was like a vision from God or something, telling me they were okay and with us. Do you have a favorite fashion trend? I don't care about fashion enough to go in depth about all this. I'll tell you right now though that mullets were the worst mistake known to mankind. If you're remaking an old one, I'll probably like it more since they're generally not nearly as cheesy. Modern horror movies, I don't have much of a preference. My fave is The Blair Witch Project, and it's an original. What is one characteristic in a person that you cannot stand? What characteristics do you like best in a person? Do you possess any of these characteristics? Those that act violent when they're angry, for one. Those scare me. Some traits that I really like are compassion, patience, genuineness, empathy, kindness just for the sake of being so, stuff like that. I'd like to think I've got some of those. It's notable that in my nightmares, I'm way more violent than I actually am, though. What kind of jeans do you like best? When I actually wore jeans, they were like solely skinny jeans. What has been the most traumatic experience of your life? Does it still bother you? A very abrupt and poorly-executed breakup after a long-term relationship and falling way, way too hard to be healthy. Does it still bother me? Summary; This is how your halloween night would go spending it with Michael Langdon!

Spending halloween with Young! Michael Langdon would consist of . . .

The two of you curled up on the couch while you two are watching the classic scary movies.

Their mostly gory or for the 80s.

Of course Michael isn’t phased by them at all.

Meanwhile you’re squirming and hiding your eyes behind the blanket while he laughs at you.

“Y/N, it’s not that bad”

You would spend so much time trying to pick the right couples costume for the two of you.

Michael did not want to dress up, but after you begging and begging him he finally cracked.

You would try and get Michael to go to the bar.

But, Michael would hate every second of it and you only enjoyed the alcohol.

He would simply be looking into his eyes and his blood would be boiling.

He would comply but be obviously angry the rest of the night.

As the two of you left you did your best to calm him down.

“Can we have a night out without you killing someone?”

This would lead to very steamy and very public sex in the alley outside of the bar, and you would truly end your halloween night with a bang.

Michael and you would be in the outpost, and due to the apocalypse celebration would be to a minimum.

You wouldn’t have even known it was Halloween until Venable had announced it.

From that day on Michael wouldn’t let you forget about it.

You would mostly stay with Michael in his bedroom, he would consider this safe keeping.

This was no different on Halloween, especially being the both of you were aware of the plan being carried out to kill the others.

Michael being relieved he wouldn’t have to be fighting any guys off you this halloween.

Of course, even though you weren’t going to the main event of the outpost mr. gallant did your hair.

Of course, Michael would notice.

Here’s my @akatsuki-gift-exchange gift for @joupey ! Sorry it’s a bit late, I had initially planned to post this on the 25th but then stuff came up and I thought I’d post it on the 31st instead and well...I hope the 1st is okay too! I hope i did your boys good with this playful fic, I decided to write about Summer to contrast it being Winter, haha, so it’s not super holiday-y, but it is about them goofing off! I hope you like it!

Deidara slammed his locker shut, and adjusted his bag over his shoulder before beginning his walk to his next class. He had only made it a few steps before a loud, obnoxious voice got his attention. "Hey, Deidara!" Called out Tobi as he rushed to catch up to his upperclassmen in the hall. "Eh? What do you want now?" The blond demanded, annoyance seeping through every word. "I was hoping you'd come hang out with us after school, I figured you'd be free since, y'know, you have no friends." Tobi said, his voice cheerful and teasing, "Oi what the hell do you mean by that, asshole?! At least I have more friends than you!" Deidara fumed and half-heartedly lurched his hand forward in a weak attempt to grasp at the boys collar. Tobi ducked back out of his way and threw a playful wink at his friend before turning on his heel and briskly walking back down the hall, calling a final "See you after class!" over his shoulder.

Deidara huffed, adjusting his hair to lay in front of his face just right before looking back down to his phone. "where tf are u?" He texted Tobi. School had officially ended fifteen minutes ago and Deidara was sitting by the gates, already far too impatient as he waited for Tobi and Hidan to show up. After another couple minutes Deidara's phone pinged with a message, "I'm~ Watching~ You~!" "god ur so annoyin im not playin games rn" He texted back, whipping his head around anyway in an attempt to spot the mischievous masked boy. "Boo!" Cried Tobi, leaping in front of Deidara when his head was turned away, said blond yelped, jumping back only to stumble into Hidan behind him. Hidan and Tobi burst into laughter as Deidara grumbled annoyances to himself, trying not to lose his temper and save face. "What the hell are we doing today anyway, hm?" He asked as the three of them walked along the sidewalk, Tobi leading the way with Deidara and Hidan following closely behind him. "Oh yeah! You said you had a surprise right, Tobi?" Hidan questioned, excitement filling his voice. "Yup! Oh, but we have to kill some time before we can do it." "Eh? Then what the fuck are we supposed to do until then?" "We could hang around the mall, yeah?" Deidara suggested, "shop around, waste some time, whatever."

After the three of them ended up spending a good few hours trying on ridiculous clothes and window shopping at the local outlet mall (Hidan found a chain choker at Hot Topic he definitely plans to come back and buy later, when his friends aren't there to pick on his edgy fashion sense) they find themselves walking down the street, yet again aimlessly following Tobi who knows where. "Hey, is it time for our mystery plans yet?" Deidara asked, starting to again grow impatient with Tobi's antics. "Almost! Uh, I do have to pick up a few things for it first." "Huh?! And you couldn't have just done that at the fuckin mall?!" "Aha, of course not! It's stuff you'd just find at any old convenience store, no need to be so impatient." He said, a playful lilt to his voice.

"So what all'd you get, anyway?" Hidan asked, trying to peer into the plastic bags Tobi carried. He had insisted on going in to buy them alone, "To avoid giving anything away!" he claimed. He shifted so Hidan couldn't see anything. "Nu-huh! Noo peeking. You'll see when we get there!" "Where is there, hm?" "So many questions, you guys really must hate surprises. Our next destination is...the park." He said, eyes crinkling in a grin. Hidan and Deidara both sighed, sharing an annoyed, unsure look. "What's so special about the park?" after being led around by Tobi most of the day they were well passed a little tired of the secrecy. "C'mon guys I can't give everything away so easily. You'll just have to wait and find out for yourselves."

It didn't take much longer after that to reach the park, but Tobi kept walking until he had stopped actually just passed the park, settling down on a bit of an inclined hill that gave a nice view of the park. The sun had already begun to set, setting the sky a gorgeous shade of orange and purple. Deidara opened his mouth to question what they were doing their, when Tobi wordlessly interrupted him, opening one of the bags and tossing him an ice pop. "So...is this the surprise? Eating popsicles in the dark?" Hidan inquired, popping his cherry flavored ice pop into his mouth. Tobi only pouted in response. "No, dummy. This is the surprise!" he exclaimed, gesturing an arm towards the sky, the sun now fully set. "Uh...the sky?" Deidara asked, his voice heavy with equal parts amusement and annoyance. Tobi chuckled somewhat nervously. "I-I thought it'd happen then...give it a moment!" He assured, and just as he said a moment later, the sky lit up with it's first, huge firework. Exploding in a beautiful array of colors, red and blue and yellow, lighting up the dark. "This is the surprise!" He repeated, his voice loud over the pop and boom of the colorful explosives. "Tobi this- this is amazing!!" Deidara awed, beaming brighter than the fireworks. "Haha, I knew you'd love it! It's to celebrate Summer coming! A buncha people are celebrating in the park, so I thought we could have our own party here! Oh, I bought more stuff than just freezees, too!" Tobi rustled around in the plastic bags again before pulling out a number of fire crackers. Hidan and Deidara quickly grabbed sparklers and lit them up, Hidan recklessly thrusting his towards Deidara's in a sword fight movement. "Take that!" He laughed, and the blond retaliated by hitting his back. Tobi giggled gleefully at his friends enjoyment of his surprise, picking out a firecracker to light up himself, watching as it burst into colors, not quite as amazing as the giant ones above them, but nearly as amusing. "Tobi! Do you have any of those little things that burst when they hit stuff?" Hidan questioned, and Tobi tilted his head to the side a moment, before pulling out a little packet and tossing them to him. "Perfect! I'm gonna throw em at people in the park." He called as he sprinted back down the hill, "Oi, don't get in trouble, dumbass!" Deidara yelled back.

The blond threw an arm around the other boy affectionately, grinning from ear-to-ear. "This is great, Tobi. You really did good this time." Tobi responded in kind by leaning his head against Deidara's shoulder, letting out a content hum. "You just gotta listen to me more often! I really am amazing at surprises." "Yeah, yeah. Don't ruin the moment, asshole."

I hope genshin gets that switch release soon, I know lots of people without a a pc, ps, or Xbox have been waiting for it!

I'm also really shy and rarely do co op. I don't do co op with randos bc I am afraid. But I like finding co op friends on social media. I love how genshin doesn't force co op on you, though. And ohh no your friend on the European server. Star-crossed genshin buddies.

Kaeya and Aether are the only free characters I use I love them ahhh. And I did get Itto, the day he came out!! You can get him from the new limited banner! Did you end up trying for Itto? He's so good! He's like my new main sry Childe.

I love winter and fall as well. It's not as great when you're far south but at least it cools down a bit. I used to live in Florida tho so I get that frustration with icky fake autumn lol.
