Hello! Just wanted to say thank you for all the IkePri info you've given us :) I am super curious now about the localisation changes made for the ENG version. It seems like the MC was changed quite a bit from your tags :D. What other changes have you noticed compared to the JP version?

You're welcome! By the way, another ask was also asking me about the localization changes so I shall be answering that here as well.

This is going to be quite extensive with spoilers from various parts (including spoilers from parts of all starter routes) for both ENG and JP versions so I shall share the examples under the cut

To start off, here are the general list of things which I had noticed a change for (as of Sep 16, 2021)

・Route Ending Titles

・MC’s Personality / Behavior and Style of Speech (This is one very major change I have noticed. First and foremost, unlike the previously released titles, in IkePri JP each of the suitor’s MC have subtle but very apparent differences to her. It’s a little hard to explain compared to experiencing it but the rough explanation would be as follow:

Leon's MC: Bright & Honest, Daring

Yves' MC: Open-minded & A Hard Worker

Licht's MC: Patient & Active

Jin's MC: Earnest & Lovely

Chevalier's MC: Intelligent & Refined, Thinks and Acts Maturely

Clavis' MC: Have Composure & Tsun (Mega Tsun pre-lovers)

Nokto's MC: Frank & Flexible

Luke's MC: Peaceful & Helpful

Sariel's MC: Elegant & Mischievous

Rio's MC: Pure & Cheerful

You get the picture. Basically, in addition to JP MC being “polite and graceful (to varying degrees depending on which Suitor’s MC)” her personality vary depending on the suitor and this is something that really impresses the JP fandom because it gave her character even more depth, and most importantly, it really shows why the specific suitor fell in love with her. Their chemistry together is just perfect.

However, ENG had changed her personality, reducing all of the above to be the “default ENG MC”. (Think IkeSen ENG’s “Sassy” MC, that’s pretty much what IkePri ENG MC was turned into). (My JP friends who are fluent in English uses the term “impudent” to describe ENG MC after reading the ENG ver). A scene from Leon Chapter 4 avatar story had him describing MC in both versions and the difference between the two was very well highlighted there so I have included that as one of my examples. Additionally, there are way too many instances of this and I simply can not cover everything in full details but I have included selected examples under the cut.)

Nonetheless, sometimes the original personality is kept because of plot-related lines (as described in the next point below) and even for ENG only players, the sudden difference in her speech pattern / behavior is can be clearly seen which sometimes leads to “a little” confusion and inconsistency.

・Conversations / Narrative in Stories (The changes here varies from minor to Major changes in nuances, to sometimes the Whole Context of the line being completely changed into something else entirely, however this mostly only happen to minor details that (1) do not affect major plot points, (2) is not a "plot-moving" scene, (3) does not touch "crucial world building" information. Some examples can be seen under the cut.)

・Suitor’s Personality (During some scenes, which examples can also be seen under the cut, the way some suitor behave or speak have quite a distinguishable difference to their original JP counterparts. Some character had their lines in ENG "toned down” making them sound “tamer”, while some ended up acting a bit more “aggressively” than they did in JP. It is debatable whether to call this “out of character” or “a change in personality that makes JP Suitor and ENG Suitor different from each other (to a certain extent)”. It is however, not something new at all for ENG localization to be changing how ENG Suitors acts such that sometimes they feel like different people (Example: IkeSen Sasuke, IkeRev Dalim))

・Choice Selections within Routes

・Usage of Character Sprites in Routes (So far, there is evidence that in at least one of the starter’s route (Yves’), a scene where a character was shown to be in their full outfit in JP ver, instead had their dressed down sprite used in the ENG ver. Due to spoilers, I will be explaining this scene and which character it was under the cut. P.S. Nokto having his dressed down sprite shown in Leon’s route is Not A Change, the original was made that way.)

・Yves Dramatic (Passionate Love) End Last Premium Story (Parts of the story, especially toward the end of the story had been rewritten from the JP version. The ENG version for this specific story included some very explicit description which Did Not Exist in the JP version. As of now, I do not know if this kind of change was made to his other end’s last premium or other suitor’s “those kind of scenes” too but refers to my earlier point of changes regarding “Conversations / Narrative in Stories” because the same applies here. As an additional note, from what you’ll see in the examples later, these type of changes are not always “made more explicit” since the opposite, “toning down and made tamer” also applies too. *Note: due to the description in ENG being Very Explicit for this story, I will be omitting it from the selections of examples below as my prior explanation had already covered all the details of what was changed.)

・Birthday Story Promotional Image (I do not mean the CG image but the layout of the template used to promote the story sale. For the ENG version, they have removed the story name from image entirely and changed “1st” to “Year 1”. The quotes they chose to use was also changed. Example from Leon 1st Birthday is included below)

・Story Names (Confirmed changes: Both End Clear Story, Birthday Story. The starter routes’ premium and His POV story titles are a direct translation of the JP version. Comparison of the starters both end clear story title and Leon’s 1st Birthday story title can be found below)

・Card/CG Titles (Not all, but many were changed. Mostly to become more concise but some has changes made to the nuances too. The CGs in the “Photos” page kept the original JP names as translated but the same CG found in the “Cards” page has adjustments made to its name in the ENG ver.)

・Card Lines (Similar to the situation with “Card/CG Titles”)

・Login Bonus Line (Similar to the situation with “Card/CG Titles”)

・Suitors' Profiles (Not only were their “A X B” Character Traits changed into a phrase, some of the suitors had their descriptions tweaked a bit too.)

・And on a general note, the way IkePri JP and IkePri ENG handles their promotions on Twitter are also different

[The following bit showcasing the examples after going through side-by-side comparisons will be even more extensive with spoilers from various parts (including spoilers from parts of all starter routes) for both ENG and JP versions so please be forewarned before proceeding]

Exhibit of Examples

Note 1: I may not be sharing all the screenshots due to sharing policies but all comparisons are side-by-side comparisons. Even for routes, I actually sat down and went through both ENG and JP version at the same time for max accuracy.

Note 2: Since we’re focusing on the differences, I’ll be omitting bits that are more or less the same in both (no change in nuance nor context).

Note 3: These are “selected examples” so there certainly are even more changes than what I chose to include here.

[Route Ending Titles]

ENG: Romantic End, Dramatic End

JP: True Love End, Passionate Love End

The ENG localization of IkePri have changed the title names to be like IkeSen / IkeRev / IkeVamp despite their JP end titles being different. As such,

True Love End (JP) = Romantic End (ENG),

Passionate Love End (JP) = Dramatic End (ENG)

[Leon Chapter 1 Scene 1 & 2] - (This segments most clearly highlights the changes in “MC’s Personality / Behavior and Style of Speech”, “Conversations / Narrative in Stories”, and as a bonus: Rio fans you’ll want to check this out for his line that was lost due to localization.)

MC: “You wish! This is... actually, wow. This is AMAZING. I bet the whole bookstore could fit in here with room to spare!”

MC: “It’s not “love nest” but it’s “my bedroom”. Uwaah... This is wonderful.”

Rio: “MC... I’ll always be here for you, no matter what!”

His words had a teasing edge, but I knew he meant it, and as the last of my doubts vanished, I felt a sudden burst of excitement.

Rio: “MC... As thanks how about a hug, or a kiss to my cheeks, orーー”

MC: “Fufu, Rio you’re full of jokes again.”

ENG

Rio: “Sure thing! But if you get lost or you need me, just call my name and I’ll come running!”

After tightly holding onto Rio’s hand, I left the room to explore the palace.

I’d been so taken by the scenery that it took me a few moments to realize I wasn’t alone.

Leon: “......”

MC: “Oh! Umー”

MC: “.....!”

MC: “Do you blame me for looking dazed? This place is huge! I’m going to get lost just trying to find the bathroom! Oh, andー”

MC: “This palace is huge so I was just taking a stroll to figure out where things are. ...More importantly!”

MC: “Thank you so much for helping us. We’re indebted to you. Would you mind if I asked your name?”

MC: “Thank you very much for helping us. And you are....?”

MC: “Wellーthanks, Leon. Do you... know that guy? The one on the white horse?”

MC: “Thanks, Leon. .....Is the royalty from earlier an acquaintance of yours?”

MC: “Do you remember when we first met in town earlier? Why did you make it sound like you barely knew Chevalier?”

Leon: “Because it’s not that far from the truth. I wasn’t kidding when I said we don’t talk much.”

MC: “Okay, I guess I get that, butーI had no idea you were royalty, either. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw you in the palace!”

Leon: “Sorry if it felt like I was keeping secrets from you. How about I do something to make up for it?”

MC: “When we met in town, why did you make it sound like Prince Chevalier is just someone you came across before?”

Leon: “I don't really talk to Chevalier much so it's not really wrong to say he's just someone I come across”

MC: “I see.... wait, that's not the point here! I totally didn't think you're also a royalty so it surprised meーー”

Leon: “Sorry for surprising you. Won't you let me apologize for it?”

[Leon Chapter 4 Attire Story] - This story included a description for MC as quoted by Leon. This part very clearly shows the personality change in MC of the two versions.

ENG: “Who's smart and sassy and also really sweet”

JP: “Who’s strong-willed, hard working, and serious”

[Leon Chapter 5 Choice Selection] - The (+4 +4) choice in this chapter was changed from playful (JP) into serious (ENG). The conversation following the choice selection was also changed however since I’ll be focusing on the change in “Choice Selection” example here, I won’t be sharing the dialogue that followed.

・I frowned at him.

・I questioned his motives. (+4 +4)

・I sighed and looked away.

・Pretend to be angry

・Tease him back (+4 +4)

・Turn away from him

[Leon Chapter 7] - Nokto had one of his line changed in this chapter and this change in ENG, no offense but, it made him sound like he was turned into IkeVamp Arthur. This is an example for changes in “Suitor’s Personality” and “Conversations / Narrative in Stories”. Other than this one line, the rest of Nokto’s dialogue in this chapter was “plot-moving” and contained “crucial world building” information thus his original line was kept as is (which I am personally very glad that they did not changed the rest much because this was my favorite Nokto scene in Leon Route).

Nokto: “Aww, rejected already! I’m heartbroken.”

Nokto: “Aww, too bad. I got rejected.”

[Leon Chapter 9] - Toward the end of the chapter, Nokto had one of his line lost in localization similarly to what happened to Rio in Leon Chapter 1. The examples from this chapter highlights the changes in “Conversations / Narrative in Stories”.

ENG

Nokto: “Don't tell me you and Leon are already...”

MC: “Already what?”

Nokto: “You're a woman. He's a man. And what beast doesn't want to pounce when a pretty little rabbit appears before him?”

Nokto: “Could it be you and Leon are already in that kind of relationship?”

MC: “What kind?”

Nokto: “You know? A guy and a girl together? That kind of relationship. For a rabbit to be in front of a beast like this... It's hard to resist their instinct.”

ENG

Nokto: “This should make up for me not helping you out last night. I don't like owing people things.”

MC: “Nokto, I... okay, thanks!”

I still wasn't sure whether I could trust Nokto, but if he was going to give me this opportunity, I wasn't going to squander it.

(This isn't quite how I wanted it to play out, but I'll take any chance I can get to break the ice with Chevalier.)

Nokto: “With this, I'm making it even for not being able to help you out last night. After all, I don't like being in debt.”

MC: “Nh, thank you, Nokto....!!”

I was so eager to follow along that I didn't caught it when the words....

*“Many things are better left unknown.” ....left from his mouthーー

Note: The bolded sentence here is the bit that was entirely changed across localization. I wanted to highlight this out because (mild spoiler) the phrase “Many things are better left unknown.” is a phrase that later on comes into play again in Nokto’s route and it really emphasizes on the core of his character.

Nokto: “How did you end up looking like that? I doubt blood just came raining down from the sky to drench you.”

Nokto: “What's with all the blood? And don't joke that it rained blood on your way here.”

[Leon Chapter 19] - This part once again highlights the changes in “MC’s Personality / Behavior and Style of Speech”, changes in “Suitor’s Personality” and “Conversations / Narrative in Stories”. During this whole conversation here, the way it played out in ENG and JP pretty much gives off the same message but... both MC’s and Nokto’s personalities just ain’t it when you compare how the conversation turned out in both versions.

ENG

Nokto: “Do you have any idea how many guests are here tonight? I've been smiling and greeting them for so long my cheeks hurt. I deserve a break.”

MC: “Well, when you put it like that...”

Nokto: “You know, we used to hold balls like this all the time, before... recent events. But that means it's the same old same old and I'm bored.”

Nokto: “Oooh, I know.”

(I don't like that glint in your eyes...)

Nokto studied me in the semi-darkness, a mischievous smile playing across his lips, and then he reached out and caught hold of my hand.

Nokto: “Why don't you come back to the ball with me, MC?”

(You have GOT to be kidding me!)

MC: “You know there's people here from Obsidian, right?! I can't just go waltzing into the ballroom! Come on, Nokto, I know you're not stupid.”

Nokto: “I'm not. And that's why I know they're not going to guess who you are just by looking at you.”

Nokto: “Besides, I don't think I can stomach going back in there without something exciting to entertain me.”

Nokto: “But if you can't handle the challenge, I guess I'll have to just sneak off into town andーー”

MC: “You can't do that! This is an important event!”

Nokto: “Then you know what you have to do.”

MC: “All right, fine, but I'm not staying long!”

I scowled at Nokto, but his grin only widened as he twined his fingers firmly with mine and turned towards the doors leading inside.

Nokto: “There's tons of guests tonight, I've been forever handling the reception ever since it started. .....That's why it's about time I take a break”

MC: “.....I see, you worked hard”

Nokto: “Before the king passed away, there's a lot of these kind of balls held at the castle, and there's no unusual face around today either so it's pretty boring”

Nokto: “.........I got an idea”

(.....?)

His thin lips turned into a smirk as if he's plotting something as he firmly grip onto my wrist

Nokto: “Won't you go back to the ball with me, MC?”

(Eh........wha? No, no, no!)

MC: “I can't do that! Tonight there's guests from Obsidian too aren't there!?”

Nokto: “Yeah, and it'll be huge trouble if they find out you're Belle. But, just something like seeing your face won't give you away”

Nokto: “And unless there's some sort of thrills, I can't get myself to head back to the ball”

Nokto: “If you won't accompany me then, I might as well ditch it and just like this, head off somewhereーー”

MC: “Nh, you can't do that!”

Nokto: “Right? Which means you have only 1 option left to take”

MC: “Wah.......!”

While holding onto my hand, Nokto walked off with a jaunty step

Nokto: “You were pretty when your world was so tiny you'd only read about love in books. But now that actual love has left you heartbroken... You're stunning.”

Nokto: “So stunning I could definitely see myself enjoying a night with you in my arms.”

Nokto: “More so than when all you knew were just the narrow world of love within books, you're much more sensual when you're suffering from love”

Nokto: “......To the point that makes me think I won't mind being your one night stand partner”

Nokto: “And judging by that expression, I bet you've got a lot to learn in the bedroom.”

Nokto: “If you'd like a few lessons, come by my room one night. I'd be more than happy to show you all sorts of new ways to have fun.”

Nokto: “As far as I can see from that unsophisticated reaction of yours, it seems I still can't expect much from you on the bed though?”

Nokto: “Well, if you want to be trained though feel free to drop by, to my bedroom. It's not like I won't slushily caress and dote on you”

[Chevalier Chapter 3] - This scene shows the changes in “MC’s Personality / Behavior and Style of Speech”, and “Suitor’s Personality” that was slightly changed due to the nuance difference in the way the line was said between the two versions. As well as minor changes in “Conversations / Narrative in Stories” from how the dialogue between MC and Nokto turned out to be here.

MC: “Hey, learn the concept of personal space!”

MC: “...Nh, too close, too close!”

Nokto: “Your intentions are pure, I see. That's not really my thing, but maybe the other princes will like you for that attitude.”

Nokto: “Unsophisticated aren't you. This is unsatisfactory for me, but perhaps that kind of attitude might appeal to the other princes.”

MC: “That's not my goal!”

Nokto: “Ah, yes. I was probably on a date back then.”

Nokto: “Ah, I was busy with dates”

Nokto: “Hold on, don't tell me you got closer to him the moment I took my eyes off you?”

MC: “Not exactly, no.”

Nokto: “You'll be King's partner but not mine? Could this be that he had already taken the initiative?”

Nokto: “To think that while I was looking away, you would become this close to King.”

MC: “We're not close though....”

Nokto: “Lately, there have been rumors that military action is on the horizon.”

MC: “What kind of military action?”

Nokto: “Ooh, I've piqued your curiosity, huh?

Nokto: “Let's see.... How about this? If you join me in bed, I'll tell you all about it.

MC: “No thanks! I'll just ask someone else.”

I jerked my head away from his hand, and he chuckled.

Nokto: “You see, recently there's some fishy rumors floating around.”

MC: “What fishy rumors?”

Nokto: “.....Ooh, you're interested after all?”

Nokto: “Let's see.... If you enjoy yourself together with me in bed then, I won't mind telling you though?”

MC: “Nh, never mind then. I can just ask someone else about it.”

I looked away from him, and he chuckled.

MC: “Stop playing games with me.”

(I'm really curious about that rumor, but I'm also not buying at the price Nokto is asking!)

MC: “I'll be leaving now.”

MC: “Don't play me.”

(I'm interested in what the rumors is about but, if I ask about it from Nokto that seems like a huge price to pay.)

MC: “I'll be going now alright.”

Nokto: “He's probably in the library at this time of day.”

MC: “Really?”

Nokto: "And just like that, you owe me one. I realize now that wooing you is going to require real persistence and tactics.”

(I was about to thank you, but when you say that, I'm glad I didn't.)

Nokto: “If King Highness makes you cry, come to me and I'll comfort you.”

MC: “Uh, thanks for the offer, I think?”

Nokto: “If it's around this time, I wonder if he's in the library.”

MC: “Eh?”

Nokto: “With this, you owe me one. Just now I realized the hard selling way seems to work better with you.”

(When you say that it makes me don't want to thank you)

Nokto: “Come to me if King makes you cry. I'll comfort you.”

MC: “T-thanks?”

[Chevalier Chapter 4 Attire Story] - The way the dialogue proceed in this story once again highlights the changes in “MC’s Personality / Behavior and Style of Speech” that the localization has brought about.

ENG

MC: “Good morning, Prince Chevalier.”

All I could see was a large, silent, motionless lump under the sheets that didn’t respond to my greeting.

MC: “Umm, wakey wakey, eggs and bakey?”

Still no response.

MC: “Prince Chevalier!”

MC: “Good morning, Prince Chevalier.”

Chevalier: “.....”

MC: “Um, it's time for breakfast but.....”

Chevalier: “.....”

MC: “Prince Chevalier!”

[Chevalier Chapter 5] - This scene also shows the changes in “MC’s Personality / Behavior and Style of Speech”, and “Suitor’s Personality” that was slightly changed due to the nuance difference in the way the line was said between the two versions. All in all, Chevalier in JP really do feel more “sadistic” than in ENG and this scene is just one of the example of that. There is also a distinct difference in MC’s personality in ENG vs in the original JP ver which can also clearly be seen here from the way she reacts to Chevalier telling her to “move”.

Chevalier: “That was clumsy of you.”

(Ohー)

I found Chevalier standing next to me, looking down at me with those frigid eyes.

MC: “Well, this is awkward....”

Chevalier: “Indeed. And you need to move.”

(I'm fine, thanks for asking! Geez!)

Chevalier: “How clumsy”

(Ah.....)

By the time I realized, Prince Chevalier was standing next to me staring down on me with a cold gaze

MC: “My apologies for the unsightly....”

Chevalier: “It absolutely is. And get out of my way”

(I didn't expect him to worry about me but..... He's unsparing.....)

[Yves Chapter 13] - This is another example for changes in “Suitor’s Personality” and “Conversations / Narrative in Stories”. The punching line ENG Yves here said earned a “What? I beg your pardon?” from me when I read that line because that was a little, if not too much, of a shift in Yves’ personality from the JP Yves I came to know making him uh... more aggressive? Or well, more “impudent” like how ENG MC had also generally became so.

ENG

Yves: “I'm so furious I'd love to go in and punch every single one of them in the face. But I'm hardly the punching type.”

Yves: “So when the banquet is over, meet me in the kitchen.”

MC: “The kitchen? Why?”

Yves: “To blow off steam, obviously, We're going to eat everything I make in the meantime. After all, you're the only one who knows my secret.”

MC: “I'd love to help! I promise I'll be there, and we'll eat everything in sight!”

Yves: “So much that I want to go and raid the banquet right away. But it's not like I can do that, right?”

Yves: “That's why, then the banquet is safely over, let's gather in the kitchen”

MC: “Kitchen.....?”

Yves: “Come join me as I binge eat to release off my stress, MC. The only one who knows about this secret of mine is you so...”

MC: “Uh...of course! I'll join you and eat a lot too, I promise!”

[Yves Chapter 17] - The ENG version of Yves Chapter 17 includes Licht’s dressed down sprite that does on exist in this route in the JP version. In the JP version, it wasn’t until late October 2020 (almost 4 months after release) that Licht’s dressed down sprite was first revealed before his route release in November 2020. In the JP ver, other than the starters and Nokto whose route was slated for release 1.5 month after the release of IkePri JP, all other characters did not have their dressed down sprite shown in any of the starters’ routes at all. (Rio casual outfit from the prologue is another exception).

Licht: “You don’t need to be so nervous. I don’t care much about you one way or the other.”

Licht: “.....You don't have to be that cautious. It's not like I like you or hate you”

[Yves Chapter 19] - And again, another highlight on the changes in “Suitor’s Personality” and “Conversations / Narrative in Stories”. This time it’s Klein Twin’s interaction and how the way their conversation played out in ENG delivered the scene so differently from JP in terms of mood and tone and the emphasis made on what is being said.

ENG

Nokto: “Well, handing Evie over to Obsidian might actually be a good idea. Although on wrong move and he'll be dead.”

Licht: “....Nokto.”

Nokto: “Stop glaring at me like that. I'm just telling it like it is. It's not like they actually care about Evie.”

Nokto: “Besides, Evie's so naturally unlucky I wouldn't be surprised if God himself abandoned him. It's more likely he'llー”

Licht's chair hit the floor with a sudden crash as he rocketed to his feet and stormed over to Nokto, grabbing him by the collar.

Licht: “Can't you event tell the difference between what to say and what not to say?”

Nokto: “Not really.”

Nokto: “Handing Yves-chan over to them might be a relatively good plan though? But just a single wrong step could end up getting him killed”

Licht: “.........Nokto?”

Nokto: “What's with that scary face. It's the truth isn't it? It's not like that side think of Yves-chan preciously either.”

Nokto: “More over, Yves-chan himself got such god forsaken level of unluckiness doesn't he. The chances of being saved isーー”

A loud thud resounded as Licht stood up. Closing the distance between them, he glared at Nokto.

Licht: “......Can't you distinguish between what's good and bad to say?”

Nokto: “Perhaps”

Note: The bolded sentence here is the bit that completely changed the twin’s characterization between versions. There is such a major difference in nuance in what Nokto said as well.

"Literally" translated, the line in JP would end up as

“More over, Yves-chan himself got such level of unluckiness that seems like even god had forsaken him doesn't he. The chances of being saved isーー”

The original JP line on the “god abandoning” was emphasized on his level of unluckiness

Whereas, in ENG they’ve instead emphasized on “god himself abandoned Yves”

As you can see here, these two means completely different things.

Additionally, the way Licht treated Nokto in ENG here is something Klein twins absolutely wouldn't do to each other had this been their original JP persona.

[Birthday Story Promotional Image]

Hello! Thank you for your kind words, we’re all working very hard to keep up with Cybird ^^I’ll be putting the reply under the cut as to prevent spoilers, since this involves discussing routes that haven’t been released in ENG yet.

Even though IkeSen has some pretty obvious ULI (”unrequited love interest” for those who aren’t familiar with this abbreviation), from IkeRev on, they get a lot more subtle.

I’m going to list the ULI that we’ve come to a conclusion on upon discussing and reviewing our screenshots, but honestly speaking, there are some routes were the ULI is very obvious, and some routes where they are Not, but overall they’re quite subtle.

Overall, it seems to follow the standard pairing within IkeVamp! These pairings can be seen in the [Sucking Blood Triangle] event, and repeats a lot when there are 3P events.

Napoleon’s ULI seems to be Sebastian, this seems to be accurate in the ENG version as well, but, well, it’s difficult to tell if he’s an ULI for Napoleon or MC lol

Mozart, Leo, and Arthur’s ULI’s are too subtle too tell, aka none of us have an idea what they could be. There are hints here and there, but nothing concrete enough that can be a true ULI.

Isaac’s ULI is Dazai, but surprisingly, his ULI “moment” comes later in the route at about 5 days before MC is supposed to return to the future. He mentions that he’s both happy for and jealous of Isaac as MC is going through such lengths for Isaac, but then glosses over the topic when MC asks him to clarify.

Vincent’s ULI is Shakespeare! We like to joke that Shakespeare is the murderous chaotic bi that every harem needs because he is not subtle about being the ULI at all. He quite literally does the typical yandere “if I can’t have them then no one will” line of thinking and then tries to kill MC because he likes both Vincent and MC. Peak chaotic bisexual, what an Icon.

Theo’s ULI is Arthur, and he’s quite bitter about it. In Theo’s route, he makes a few attempts to seduce MC as well as convince Theo to let MC go and return to her timeline. This then turns into Theo and MC “breaking up” at around chapter 19 with an entire bittersweet sex scene too. They later get back together though, all is good!

And then for Jeanne, the most recent route, his ULI is Mozart. Which is honestly really sad because Mozart does such a good job of being a wingman for Jeanne and even gets his hand hurt trying to protect MC. During the period when MC and Jeanne were struggling with their feelings and Jeanne was distancing himself, Mozart stands in as a protective and caring figure for MC while both supporting Jeanne and making it clear that he’s ready to quite literally take Jeanne’s place in MC’s heart if Jeanne doesn’t stop being angsty. Poor Mo-kun

(JK the true ULI are the route antagonists outside of Shakespeare because all of them are hella gay for the suitors. Like seriously. Hooke was super gay for Isaac. Gilles tried to pull a kill-then-suicide with Jeanne. Ikemen Scorned Lovers, as we lovingly refer to Ikevamp.)

i feel like what he did definitely is not going to win any suitor points but i was already too emotionally invested in him at that point and i was just kinda helplessly like Why Would You Do This

because of the main reason that that was quite wrong of him to do it without consent (although who would ever give consent)

and also the second reason was HIM JUST GOING OFF BY HIMSELF TO BE ALL ALONE AGAIN AND by erasing alice’s memory of him, i just hated the idea that

he erased the fact that someone loves him, he erased someone’s love for him

not only that, one level further he took away the proof that he was loved and deserves to be loved like he was letting go of the things that gave him a chance at a normal human life on this plane of existence and i’m like NO!! DON’T!!!!!

his letter after ch23 in the ikerev taiwanese was straight up: by this time you won’t remember the person writing this but i hope with all of my heart that i can confer to you my remaining 幸福

i cried because my mom always wishes for me to be 幸福 too and it’s so much more than just happiness? like he’s telling her i want you to have a blessed and fulfilling and content existence, and i give you the fortune/happiness/contentment that was allotted to me and lmao considering lancelot’s lived a pretty not-幸福 life i just cried harder

i personally feel that 幸福 is stronger than just happiness but maybe that’s because 幸福 already holds the place in my emotional headspace for what other people consider happiness?

Ikemen Prince main route contains “two endings” like all the other Ikemen Series titles. However, there’s a little more to it that makes the difference between their endings “unlike the usual”.

The endings of the routes consists of Chapter 21, Chapter 21 (His POV), Chapter 22, Chapter 23, Chapter 24, Chapter 25 (End Chapter), Chapter 25 (His POV - End Chapter), and Epilogue. After completing both ends and unlocking the epilogues for both, you’ll also obtain the “Both End Clear Bonus Story”

ー

JP: True Love End, Passionate Love End

ENG: Romantic End, Dramatic End

The ENG localization of IkePri have changed the title names to be like IkeSen / IkeRev / IkeVamp despite their JP end titles being different. As such,

True Love End (JP) = Romantic End (ENG),

Passionate Love End (JP) = Dramatic End (ENG)

ー

I have mentioned this before in my previous posts (here, and here) on how IkePri have a “true end” to it so I shall expand more on that here, complete with the details as to why it is such.

From the JP version, event stories and birthday stories (as lovers) which happen following the events of the main routes points out facts which happens in the route, as well as things that only happens in the True Love (Romantic) End.

Regarding Both End Clear Bonus Story which continues from one of the ending’s epilogue story, the starter routes (Leon, Yves, Chevalier) are the only exception where the clarity of which ends it follow wasn’t made so obvious since (Mild Spoiler) by the end of both endings, MC remained with them at the Castle. However, with Nokto’s route onwards (Nokto, Licht, Jin, Luke, and so on), the way their two endings ends are So Different from each other, to the point that it’s Impossible for the Both End Clear Bonus Story to continue after the event of their Passionate Love (Dramatic) End. (Those who read their routes, both ends, and both end clear story, and actually read and understands what goes on in those stories, will be able to clearly see my point here.)

In this sense, with Ikemen Prince True Love (Romantic) End is more so the “canon” True Ending than Passionate Love (Dramatic) End since True Love (Romantic) End gets consistent follow ups to the ending of the story, and references being made back to it, with all the contents which continues to be released after the ending of the route.

To quote myself from my older post, “For all routes, True Love End is the true end. Both end clear stories all continues after the True Love End’s epilogue. Passionate Love End is the alternative ending. (Consider: True Love End = how the main plot actually ends. Passionate Love End = the “smut”)”

The fact that the “Passionate Love (Dramatic) End is the alternative ending” can be clearly seen in all the examples provided below and under the cut for examples with spoilers.

ー

Examples:

Chevalier Route in his “Halloween Night” Story Event contains spoilers for the ending of his main route, specifically from Chevalier’s Main Route Romantic (True Love) End. The same can be said for the “Amnesia” Story Event which will be held later on in the ENG localization version too. In that event, flashback scenes from Chevalier’s Main Route Romantic (True Love) End were even included into the story.

Leon, Nokto, and Jin Routes for the “Amnesia” Story Event were also like Chevalier’s example above.

[Following examples will be touching upon spoilers for Nokto, Licht, Jin, and Luke routes so I have included them under the cut.]

Warning: Nokto, Jin, and Luke examples contains major spoilers for their route two endings.

[Nokto Route]

Nokto and his MC became “officially engaged” together in his True Love (Romantic) End and this fact is later highlighted in event stories. Not only that, but Nokto’s True Love (Romantic) End was the only end where Nokto and his MC continues to live together at Rhodolite’s palace after he brought her back.

Furthermore, IkePri was Very Consistent in their story writing with references made to events which had happened in the “canon” timeline before. During the “Beast Bath Time” Collection Event, Nokto’s story mentioned how this is “the first time MC and Nokto got in the bath together” which highlights the fact that following their story line, the event in his Passionate Love (Dramatic) End “did not actually happened in canon” because that ending included a scene where the two bathed together and that would’ve actually been their first time doing so had the story followed that timeline. However, considering that “Passionate Love (Dramatic) End is the alternative ending”, you can see why they have not before.

ー

[Licht Route]

Licht two endings have different princes being named as “King”. In his Both End Clear Bonus Story, “His Majesty the King” from his True Love (Romantic) End also made a cameo and the story directly continues from his True Love (Romantic) End epilogue story.

ー

[Jin Route]

Like Nokto’s route, Jin’s True Love (Romantic) End was the only end where Jin and his MC continues to live together at Rhodolite’s palace after then went back to find each other.

In Jin’s Passionate Love (Dramatic) End his MC went to live in the country side, at the town at the border between Rhodolite and Obsidian to spread literature between the two nations. She did not return to the capital. Jin came to visit her, but then he went back and will come back to see her again. MC did Not followed him back. The two are lovers now but they are in a semi-long distance relationship.

Note: Post-route stories as lovers all take places with Jin and MC living together in the palace, as such, the story line follows that of the True Love (Romantic) end and just like previous examples, “Passionate Love (Dramatic) End is the alternative ending”.

ー

[Luke Route]

Luke’s True Love (Romantic) End too, was the only end where his MC went back to stay with Luke and live together with him, as his fiancée, in the Both End Clear Bonus Story following the event which happened in his True Love (Romantic) end epilogue story.

In Luke’s Passionate Love (Dramatic) End on the other hand, Luke was exiled from Rhodolite. He went to live in Benitoite and his MC followed him despite Luke being initially against this because of the fact that Luke can't return to Rhodolite anymore. He didn't want MC to throw away her place to live for his sake but MC wants to be with him so the two both moved to Benitoite together. Luke went first, and MC followed him half a year later. They were not going to be permanently staying there though, because Luke intend to eventually travel overseas and go abroad entirely.

Note: An even more extreme example we got from Luke here. Post-route stories as lovers all take places with Luke as a full “Rhodolite’s Prince” as he and MC lives together in the palace. As you can see above, this is just downright impossible if the story follows Passionate Love (Dramatic) End.

And this sums up the difference between the two endings. Regarding the consistency of events, I do not know how consistent the ENG version will be as compared to the JP version do to various factors such as (1) the difference in the timing of app release, (2) all the changes being made to ENG version that even affect character’s personality to certain extent, (3) (non-plot) changes being made to the story itself, etc.

Hi! Can you tell us the order of your favorite Ikemen games and why? I'm assuming your favorite will be Ikepri, but I am curious to hear your opinion about all the games you played in the cybrid ikemen world. I always find your explanation very in depth (even if I'm avoiding all spoilers for Ikepri so I'm not reading all your posts yet ;) )

Hello～ Yep, you guessed it! My fav is indeed Ikemen Prince

And since other anons also asked the same thing, I shall answer those here as well.

I've played all of Cybird's currently available titles under Ikemen Series (but that doesn't mean I'm active in all of them)

JP: All (excluding discontinued ones that can no longer be downloaded because it's taken off the appstores)

ENG: MidCin, DTL, IkeSen, IkeRev, IkeVamp, IkePri

TW: IkePri

TH: IkeSen (only did Yukimura's route), is waiting for IkePri

KR: None. (But is aware of IkeVamp 6 stars KR exclusive cards)

I’ll be focusing on the JP version for all titles and my opinion will solely be on that because of the differences and variations that come with the localizations (especially ENG). For all of the titles, I am much more a fan of the original than the localizations.

My favorites in order & personal opinions:

1. Ikemen Prince - First of all, let me just say with how dark the story is considering all the triggering contents and how IkePri does not hold back with its narrative and word choices... IkePri is not meant for everyone. At a glance, IkePri may seem like it’s a “fairy tale” but contrary to how the ENG localization is promoting it to be, it is not like that at all and even the VAs says so themselves in the interview. That it is a realistic story for adult (mature audiences) rather than a story that is full of sweet wonders.

And if I may borrow Hatano Wataru’s words from his interview.... “At first the title Ikemen Prince gives out a very glittery sparkly impression but upon reading the story line, it's how do I put it, very human. Because the characters are princes, they carries many burdens, there's traumas related to that, and things they learn and grow after overcoming it together with MC. It's not a story of perfect handsome men, but it's a story about imperfect humane characters that's very realistic.”

Asanuma Shintaro also pointed this out in his interview.... “After reading through the story, it gave me this thought that this isn't a ‘classic’ like the title implies it to be. Contrary to the image from the title, this work is meant for adults and I feel that gap with the title image really is amazing.”

I had to borrow their words for this because they really hit the nail on the mark here and this is exactly what I loves so much about Ikemen Prince that it’s my favorite of all. Furthermore, in the JP version... one thing which fans in the JP fandom mutually agree on is the fact that unlike the other titles, each of the suitors’ respective MC has a unique touch / differences to her that makes her that specific suitor’s MC and not the others’. In addition, IkePri is super consistent with their stories. The route and event and birthday stories, pretty much anything that happened on the same timeline gets referred back to / build on and you really see that they actually planned this out before jumping into the writing (unlike many other titles that lack consistency entire). And last but not least, IkePri’s game interface is like a combination of IkeLive, IkeVamp, and IkeGen and personally I just find that very comfortable to ease into because of how IkeLive was my main title before Cybird stopped updating it with new content.

2. Ikemen Live - It’s honestly a shame that IkeLive is no longer getting any new content nor updates. IkeLive was my #1 favorite before IkePri was released (due to how IkeLive was announced to be put on an indefinite hiatus half a year before IkePri’s release, I have basically moved on but IkeLive still remain my top fav after IkePri). IkeLive’s story focuses on a “modern reality-based” setting set in Japan, in an era not so far into the future from now. However, due to it’s main conflict being all about “government vs rebel in modern society” “not wanting to be confined by the government / wanting freedom” with the medium used / limited being “songs with lyrics and instruments” (extremist groups, actual violence, and mentions of death of minor characters do exist in the story too though), the plot leans much more toward “slice of life” and there’s not the sort of “drama” you see with other more “popular titles” like IkeSen / IkeRev / IkeVamp / IkeGen / IkePri. I actually love the premise here and the slice of life aspect of it but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be so popular with most of the audiences.

In IkeLive, MC is a piano instructor who want to follow her dream after coming across her father’s music collection when she was young and she wants to compose her own songs in a society which had imposed a regulation on songs with lyrics making it forbidden unless it passed through the government’s approval. Songs which do comply to the government’s regulation are songs which “lack the influence on human’s emotions” and are basically plain and lifeless, there’s no “freedom” to it. The regulation (and the Music Control Bureau) resulted from how 19 years ago, one of the suitor’s father, the lead singer of divineBEAST band composed a song that brainwashes people and caused the whole country (Japan) to fall into mayhem after people went insane from being brainwashed. Breach of the Music Regulation Law results in penalties as specified in the law (I actually have the whole thing translated in case anyone want to know).

And since IkeLive is all about music... we actually got character songs and various song releases for it too! Every character that get a route has a character song they sings (it’s the song that MC composes for them). I really really looked forward to the character songs for the character with routes yet to be released but.... it seems like that they will never come due to Cybird had announced that they’ve pretty much “discontinue” it but is still keeping the app around. 😢

3. Ikemen Revolution - Speaking of “a story that is full of sweet wonders”, IkeRev is one of them. I do admit that IkeRev’s MC really do act like the original child Alice in Wonderland’s Alice in a grown adult woman body at times and that the story really is ✨Power of Love TM✨ (and I hate that). But what I do love about IkeRev is the lore, the world building, and the characters especially their interactions! IkeRev really have this vast world building and history and lore for us to uncover. The best part about IkeRev is discovering these things through the story (but let’s ignore the limitation of magic and what it can do for now because so far in IkeRev they really went the .... is possible because magic. Magic of ..... basically just use magic to explain anything and everything despite “magic has limitations too”). On a side note, I no longer join events unless Dalim is in it because the battles are pain to do especially with Story Events that require you to tap through it one by one if you want a friend boost.

4. Ikemen Vampire - So to start with, it actually took my friend half a year of persuading me to download IkeVamp because I just didn’t like the premise and didn’t find the original 12 suitors appealing initially. Even after I did download it and gave it a chance... props to the game interface being appealing and user friendly, but the early routes weren’t so enjoyable to me until at least half way through their routes. This changed starting from Jean’s route onward and I felt that the plot became much more fun to read and follow along. But IkeVamp just has.... tons of plot holes.... many of which still need an answer to despite all 15 suitors already having their routes released. I actually no longer join the events unless I actually really want to know what happen because IkeVamp really lack consistency and I simply don’t have time for nor the desire to read it.

5. Ikemen Genjiden - Honestly speaking, I have quite a hard time sitting through and reading IkeGen routes like I did with IkeVamp early routes. The story just.... proceed so slowly that I couldn’t get into it. I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m simply saying I don’t enjoy the way the stories were written out and I sat through “just to get it over with” until I’m over half way through the route that it actually got me excited to read and see how it ends. The suitors aren’t really my type at all either so there’s also that. But I do like IkeGen more than IkeSen because of two main reasons: MC behaves more maturely (partly because she was born in the era) and.... the BGM are so good!!!! I really love IkeGen’s OST and hopefully Cybird would release the soundtrack album for it one day like they did with IkeSen and IkeVamp.

6. Ikemen Sengoku - I do find the suitors appealing (to a certain extend, I like their interactions together more than having a personal interest in the suitors as a love interest specifically) and the plot is enjoyable (out of curiosity for what will happen in the routes. the events... I don’t really enjoy at all); however, the thing about IkeSen is... I don’t like the game interface and the events are taxing to clear unless you’re really devoted and invested into it. For me personally, the suitors’ appeal and the story’s enjoyability simply doesn’t balance out over the effort (and cash) I need to invest into it. I haven’t been doing any new routes after Kennyo so I don’t know if this has changed yet but up to that point, IkeSen doesn’t really touches upon the “ugly side of war”

7. Ikemen Bakumatsu (Destined to Love) - I actually didn’t finished all the routes here (lack of closet) so I only went for a few who piqued my interest. A much more mature story than MidCin. Although, I honestly couldn’t quite fully enjoy it as much as I hope to because I actually got into DTL because of how there’s Shinsengumi here and Toudou Heisuke was my fav from Hakuouki so DTL Toudou was the route I went for. They’re completely different to say the least (and yes, I like Hakuouki more when it comes to Bakumatsu era romance story with Shinsengumi involved). (Also complete bias here because I only finished Kirisato, Kyo, and Toudou’s route) But my fav route is indeed still Toudou’s.

8. Ikemen Oukyu (Midnight Cinderella) - MidCin (EN) was actually my first title and what got me attracted to it was the suitors. Right now I’m still on it in JP but I really don’t have much to say other than how it’s very fairy tales sparkly and “a story that is full of sweet wonders”

9. the rest (100DP, Ikemen Celeb - Sleeping Beauty in the Suite Room, Ikemen Shin Ooku, Ikemen Yakyoku - Love Lies & a Heists) - I played them yes, but not really a fan. So I’ll opt for no opinion on these.
