I refuse to believe Sam doesnt have a demon fanclub.
Like imagine a small group of demons fangirlimg over the boyking of hell. Jealous that meg possessed him and that ruby is a demon sam trusts. Like imagine them trying to find sam and they make it a competion on how many times they can get exorcised by sam -it stops when they starting using the knife.

Sam Questions, made by @gaysuperhell and tagged by @blahdose(gaysuperhell this is the best tumblr questionnaire I have ever seen thank u for ur service) - Sibling status (younger, middle, older, only child)*
*TECHNICALLY oldest but was raised separately so I have only child energy - How long have you been stanning Sam for: Honestly since I started watching 2007/S3ish, I always vibed with Sam more than Dean. Nowadays I'm a SPN Ladies stan first and equal parts Cas and Sam stan second, Dean is just the most fun to psychoanalyze - Favorite SPN Season, but if the only criteria was Sam’s hair: SEASON EIGHT! It's so lush and beautiful and POWERFUL! Sometimes I just stare at it instead of paying attention to whatever's happening! - Favorite Sam-centric episode: Mystery Spot is still a fave because of him, boy really went through the spectrum of human emotion in those 50 minutes. Runner-ups: After School Special, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and Just My Imagination (I have a soft spot for young Sam lore) -Favorite Sam era: Season 4! He is no longer baby, he want power! But only because he thinks he's saving the world! Also, can't call it a whole arc but the taste we got of Samwitch throughout S13-S15 makes yearn for more. -Favorite song you would/have put in a Sam playlist: Don't have a Sam playlist but do have a very Sam-esque OC so tie between "Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea" by Missio, "Dark Speed" by Failure, and "Undefeated" by Incubus with honorable mention to Marina's "Bubblegum Bitch"
-Any ships you may like to mention: Saileen since Day 1, SamRuby (yeah yeah I know but look), Samwena (enjoy them as platonic mentor/mentee too), Sastiel (also enjoy as chaotic besties but damn if they wouldn't have been healthier for each other), Sam and Max Banes had potential - If you could steal one thing from Sam’s wardrobe, it would be: Purple dog shirt or the Hoodie™️ from 15x06 - You must have some intense headcanons you need to talk about, tell me one Sam hc that drives you insane: Stealing from HBO SPN - that Sam's a health nut because fruits/veggies don't have salt and won't make his throat burn because demon blood! - Complete the sentence: If Sam cishet, then WHY....: queer allegory about being kicked out by his dad and having something wrong with him? HMMM - Favorite unhinged Sam moment: Outside of all of Season 4 I'd also say 1) exorcising a half-dozen demons at once in My Bloody Valentine 2) third act of Mystery Spot and 3) literally shooting GOD - Tell me something about the HBO Sam that lives in your brain: Salt allergy, reflex whispering "christo" to see if hurts, angel healing makes him sick, etc. - Biggest injustice Supernatural commited against Sam (be as brief or as ranty as you desire): Boy oh boy 1) Ignoring most of his post-S7 trauma (Gadreel, BMOL torture, Lucifer, losing the hunters, etc) because the writers relied on him bouncing back faster than Dean 2) Never letting him know THE Voicemail was fake! 3) Blurry Wife because the misogyny of it all is so 2005 4) Being blamed for the apocalypse, being soulless, stopping hunting, etc. 5) The fact that Lucifer came back so many times and he didn't get to kill him ONCE as a treat
Also this is more @ the fandom, but how much Sam get ignored when talking about parenting Jack! Sam, who nurtured him and showed him kindness from Day 1! Who taught him how to use his abilities! Who didn't become what Lucifer wanted him to be and only wanted the same for Jack! - Oh no, the writers forgot to give Jess a personality! Now it’s up to you. Tell me, what was Jess like: True crime fan, super competitive at board games, got into law to help the little man, bisexual
- And finally, just say something about him that makes you smile ♥ : That he believes no one is truly beyond saving! That you can always choose to be a better person! That you decide who you are, no one else! Also, the fact that I got my first Bisexual Haircut as an excuse to cosplay him (thank u sam for being part of my queer journey)
Tagging @leydhawk @justsayingit @fangurl and any other Sam fans who follow me!

“What the hell happened back there?” Dean asked after being on the road for a while. Jimmy was asleep next to you, and you looked at Dean when he spoke.
“What?” Sam asked.
“You practically fainted trying to gank a demon.” Yeah, you needed to shut up about this.
“Okay, I didn't faint. I got a little dizzy.”
“Well, you can call it whatever you want. Point is, you used to be strong enough to kill Alastair. Now you can't even kill a stunt-demon number three?” Dean asked. Sam shifted his gaze to you, and you narrowed your eyes in warning. The day was almost up, and Sam’s time was running out.
“What do you want me to say about it, Dean?” Sam asked as he looked away from you. Guess he wanted to test your patience.
“Well for starters, what's going on with your mojo? I mean, it's yo-yoing all over the place. I'm not trying to pick a fight here, okay? I just—you're scaring me, man.”
“I'm scaring myself,” he whispered, but you heard it. His phone rang, interrupting the moment. He picked it up before looking at Jimmy.
“Hey. It's your wife.” Nudging the formal angel, he woke up before groggily taking the phone.
“Amelia?” he asked before his eyes widened with fear. “Oh my God.”
************************************************************************************************
Arriving at the warehouse that currently was holding Claire, you got out of the car and wondered how you were going to get inside. Amelia was a demon, and you should have figured it out, but some of them were good as masking their appearance. Plus, you weren’t strong enough to see past it.
“Alright, they're expecting you to come alone. That's exactly what you're gonna do,” Dean instructed.
“I’m strong enough now, Dean. I can turn us invisible, like I did when we were going to trap Lilith the first time. You know, before you went to… you know.”
“All you gotta do is stay calm and stall. Let us do our job,” Dean said to Jimmy, putting a pause on your plan.
“You want me to stay calm? This is my family we're talking about.”
“Listen to me, this will work. You understand? Nobody's gonna get hurt,” you said.
“Yeah, whatever. Give me a minute, okay?” he said as he walked off to do his own thing.
“Okay, I’m ready,” you nodded.
“Actually, I have something else in mind. You’re the only one who’s staying invisible,” Dean said to you, making you tilt your head in confusion. After Dean told you two the plan, you quickly said the word before making yourself invisible. Assuming Jimmy was already inside, Sam and Dean got themselves caught while you trailed behind them, careful not to let them know you were there.
Walking inside the building, you saw Claire tied up with her mother next to her, looking at Sam and Dean with a smirk.
“Nice plan, Dean,” Sam sighed, playing his part.
“Yeah, well, nobody bats 1,000.”
“Got the knife?” Amelia asked, one of the demons holding Sam lifted it to show her.
“Now, where is that little witch of yours? I can’t imagine you just left her behind,” Amelia said as she looked around the place. Focusing on the spot you were in, you noticed her staring at you as if she could actually see you. Slowly walking away, her gaze stayed right where it was, making you think she didn’t see you. Your part was to get Claire to safety which is why you were slowly making your way over to her.
“I was actually bummed to get this detail, picking up an empty vessel. Sort of like a milk run. Now look who landed in my lap,” Amelia continued to speak as she walked to the side before picking up a sharpened pipe that had been broken off.
“Yeah, well, you got us, okay? Let these people go,” Sam said.
“Oh, Sam. It's easy to act chivalrous when your Wonder Girl powers aren't working, huh? Now for the punch line. Everybody dies,” she grinned as she pulled out a gun. Pointing it at Sam, she quickly changed directions and shot Jimmy in the lower chest, making him gasp out in pain.
“I see you, little witch,” she said before swinging the pipe around right at you. Before you had a chance to move, the pipe went straight through your magical barrier and into your abdomen, causing a blast of magic to shoot out in all directions. Now visible for everyone to see, you fell to the ground, the pipe still inside you.
Dean yelled out as he tried to escape the demon, but he held onto him tightly. Looking at Dean and Sam, you felt blood come out of your mouth, and you tried to focus on your healing powers. There was no way you could get this pipe out without bleeding to death.
“Waste Little Orphan Annie,” Amelia smirked before walking away. Another demon walked around Jimmy who lay dying and around you, not far behind. He walked over to Claire, picked up a pipe, and swung at her, only for her to catch it with one hand. She placed her other hand on his head, exorcising the demon in front of her.
Using this as the perfect distraction, Sam and Dean broke free before fighting their demons. Coughing up blood, you looked at Claire who burned off the ropes holding her. Maybe it was because you were dying, but you noticed a faint white glow around her body. Castiel was in there, you just knew.
She walked right past you before going over to Dean, helping him exorcise his demon since Sam had the knife. Once Dean was free of the demon, he ran over to you before lifting your head.
“It’s okay, you’re going to be okay,” he panicked as he tried to remove the pipe.
“No, Dean, that’ll kill me. Leave it,” you whispered, and he hesitantly complied. Both of you looked at Sam who was sucking the blood from the demon’s neck. Well, the secret is out, everyone knew how he got his power. When he came up for air, he looked at Dean who stared at his brother in horror.
“It’s how he gets his powers,” you whispered to him. Sam turned to Castiel who was still in Claire and had the same expression. Quickly killing the demon with the knife, Sam stood up and raised his hand once he saw Amelia trying to escape. She stopped in her tracks as Sam exorcised the demon inside her, and she was soon free of the burden.
“Sam, stop it,” you tried to yell, raising your hand to use whatever magic you had the strength for. Sending a blast at him, you watched as your magic hit him square in the face, slithering through his nostrils and mouth to do its job. Noticing the black glow around him dim, you knew that your magic was the key to purifying his disease.
“Of course, we keep our promises,” Claire said to her father, making you look at the duo. “Of course, you have our gratitude. You served us well. Your work is done. It's time to go home now. Your real home. You'll rest forever in the fields of the Lord. Rest now, Jimmy.”
“No. Claire?” he gasped out.
“She's with me now. She's chosen. It's in her blood, as it was in yours.”
“Please, Castiel. Me, just take me. Take me, please,” he begged, getting tears as he fought for his life.
“I wanna make sure you understand. You won't die or age. If this last year was painful for you, picture a hundred, a thousand more like it.”
“It doesn't matter. You take me. Just take me.”
“As you wish,” she said before cupping his cheeks. A bright light emanated from both his eyes and mouth as Castiel transferred bodies. As soon as he was gone from Claire, she fell to her knees as he stood up. Whatever trace of Jimmy there was, he was now gone.
Groaning, you coughed up more blood, making Dean look at you in urgency.
“Cas! Heal her!” Dean yelled at the angel. However, he kept on walking, but that was not good enough for you.
“Castiel!!” you used all your strength to yell, making him stop in his tracks before turning to face you. “You promised me! You said you would protect me! I can’t heal myself, but you can! You said you were here to make sure I wouldn’t die and if you leave, that is exactly what I am going to do! Please, Castiel, heal me.”
Castiel walked to you before kneeling on the ground. He ripped the pipe from you causing you to scream in agony. Dean was about to rip him a new one before the angel placed his hand on your head, sending his grace throughout your body. He healed your wound instantly before standing up.
Dean helped you from your spot, and you used his body as support.
“Thank you,” you breathed out. He was just about to walk away when you stopped him once more. “Wait, what did you want to tell me?”
“I learned my lesson while I was away, Y/N. I serve heaven, I don't serve man, and I certainly don't serve you.” Gasping, you watched him walk away without a second glance. That was it? What the hell happened to him in Heaven?
************************************************************************************************
And then there was three. After everyone was taken care of, you and the brothers were back on the road, but it was dead silent. What happened with Sam was heavy in the air, but you didn’t have the energy to deal with it right now.
“Alright, let's hear it.”
“What?” Dean asked, tiredness clear in his tone.
“Drop the bomb, man. You saw what I did. Come on, stop the car, take a swing.”
“I already said what I needed to say,” you sighed.
“I'm not gonna take a swing.”
“Then scream, chew me out, something!”
“I'm not mad, Sam,” Dean sighed, but you were. Man, you were hella pissed.
“Come on. You're not mad? Look, at least let me explain myself.”
“Don't. I don't care.”
“You don't care?” Sam asked with his eyebrows raised. He looked at you before realizing you were only going to add lemon juice to the open wound if you spoke.
“What do you want me to say, that I'm disappointed? Yeah, I am. But, mostly, I'm just tired, man. I'm done. I am just done.” His voice was calm and low which means he was very disappointed and pissed and sad all at the same time. Your phone rang which cut some of the tension, but not all of it. Seeing it was your dad, you were thankful he called. There was a plan in set for Sam since you two were worried about him.
“Hey, dad,” you said softly.
“Hey, you three better shag ass to my place ASAP.”
“What's going on?” you asked, playing your part once more.
“The apocalypse, genius. Now get your asses over here.” He hung up, making both brothers look at you. Only one of them was in on this.
“What’d he say?” Sam asked.
************************************************************************************************
“Well, thanks for shaking a tail,” your dad said as he guided you three to the panic room.
“Yeah, you got it,” Dean sighed. Sam opened the door before looking inside.
“Go on inside. I wanna show you something,” your dad said, causing Sam to walk in, however, you, Dean and your dad hung back.
“Alright. So, uh, what's the big demon problem?”
“You are. This is for your own good,” you said as Dean and your dad closed the door before locking it.
“Guys? Hey, hey. What?” Sam panicked, walking to the barbed window. Your dad closed it just as Sam banged on the door. “This isn't funny. Guys! Hey! Guys?”
“I have something that will help him,” you said as you walked over to one of your dad’s knives. Grabbing a cup, you took a seat on a stood that was down there.
“What is it?” Dean wondered. Taking a deep breath, you cut your arm vertically, causing the two men to protest.
“Don’t worry,” you said as you focused on your magic. Watching it flow out of your arm and into the cup, you filled it a quarter of the way before placing your hand over the wound. Healing it immediately, you brought it over to your dad as you handed it to him.
“Make sure he drinks this. I don’t really want to go into it now, but I see people differently now. I see demons with a black glow around them, and it’s what Sam has. When I blasted him with my magic in that warehouse, that black glow dimmed. My magic healed you Dean, and Sam when that siren had you under his spell, it’ll heal him of this demon blood. When I have enough strength, I’ll give you another dosage. He’s scaring me, and this is the only way I know how to heal him.”

Repo Man: 7x15 Recap
Oh wow, hello episode that Boris saw...once. For all its Ben Edlund glory, this episode never made it into the rewatch rotation for me. I don’t know why, other than I was impatient for Cas to reappear and didn’t want to pick apart the subtextual story it was telling (who am I kidding, I didn’t watch the show for the subtext the first time around and this was an episode during the Cas-less wasteland.)
Then:
Tumblr media
Sam continues to rock the brooding attractiveness of being haunted by the devil.
Now:
Four Years Ago:
In Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Ms. Havelock approaches a remote cabin, where Sam reluctantly welcomes her inside. It seems the Brothers Winchester have caught themselves a demon. (If I do my math correctly, this is circa season 3? Prior to Dean going to hell? Augh, this hurts to watch knowing how much hell breaks Dean.) The demon and Ms. Havelock exchange pleasantries. Ms. Haverlock has her say and takes off. The boys are left to torture the demon out of any information he has on Lilith. The demon decides to let Jeffrey, the possessed man, make an appearance.
Jeffrey pleads with the brothers to stop the demon. Sam tells him that they will, but they need information first, which means possibly hurting Jeffrey. He agrees, remembering the awful things the demon made him do. The demon takes over, and Dean starts slicing. They get the info they need, and exorcise the demon.
The Impala makes a cameo in the flashback as Dean drives Jeffrey to the E.R. Without ceremony, and an order to not mention demons, Dean drops him off and leaves. Oh Jeffery.
Now:
Tumblr media
Ah, season 7. Dean gets a call from Frank Devereaux and Sam gets a brain visit from Lucifer. Sam’s still able to use the hand wound trick to make Luci disappear, thankfully. He then lays out their case on the bed. Same as four years ago, and Dean wonders who let their demon out of the great underground. Well, time to reopen the case.
*Dean is asleep in pajamas in bed alert*
(Ok, it’s not really an alert, we just never see him actually sleep or get comfortable in bed, so this was nice.)
Anyway, the police radio lights up a crime. The Winchesters are on the case. Once on the scene, the detective they worked with in the past recognizes Agents Bonham and Watts. They need their memories jogged for Detective Sutton’s name. Anyway, Sam finds sulfur at the scene (duh).
Sam and Dean decide to check in on Ms. Havelock. She seems fine, just unable to walk through her newly painted demon trap. (I don’t know how this episode ends...she’s possessed, right?) (Natasha: I vaguely remembered this one but still thought...why didn’t you just make your trap a leeeetle bit bigger so it would actually block the whole doorway? Otherwise those demons are just gonna sidle past like you just did.) She says she’s doing what she can to protect herself. Sam wonders if she’s had any contact with the demon. She says no and tells them that she’s leaving town soon. She then asks about Jeffrey. Some demons can be sentimental. Time to find that poor bastard.
Tumblr media
Jeffrey is at a half-way home, and he’s adopting a dog. OMG, Jeffrey, I’m sorry I only watched your episode once. Your story hurts me. When picking up his new buddy, he hears a noise from an alley and decides to investigate. No, Jeffrey! Well, it’s just Sam and Dean, so that’s something. But still, let this poor injured man enjoy his life with his new canine companion.
They all head back to Jeffrey’s home (Luci too!).
Tumblr media
Dean “I’m homeless and carless and have NOTHING IN THIS WORLD” Winchester has the nerve to mock Jeffrey’s living quarters. Jeffrey wonders what they want with him, and Dean tells him that the demon that possessed him is back. This really upsets Jeffery. Jeffrey Bean! (Ack, doesn’t work as well when it doesn’t rhyme.) Jeffrey asks what the last victim’s name was, and then tells the brothers who the next one on the list is. It seems the demon has a kill list, and he repeated it enough for Jeffrey to remember.
Someone knocks on Jeffrey’s door, and he goes to answer it. It’s his group leader. Sam and Dean, meanwhile, agree they really messed up the poor guy (but they didn’t --the demon did. Gah, the weight of responsibility of both of them hurts me so much). Sam heads out to find the next woman on the demon’s list, while Dean stays behind to watch over Jeffrey.
*Library Alert*
Tumblr media
Ngl, they knocked this set out of the park. The unnecessary signage alone! And Marjorie Willis? I mean, *I* don’t dress like that but MY GOD is that a perfect representation of ALL my colleagues (Natasha is also an exception.) They do have Marjorie shelving though and that is not something she would do. Yep, we’ve reached the unnecessary portion of the recap where Boris nitpicks representations of her profession.
Sam settles in to watch his charge, Lucifer along for the ride.
Back at Jeffrey’s, Jeffrey fills Dean in on his life since the demon possession. He had a hard time of it --especially when he started to talk about what happened. “Never tell. Never... never., “ Dean retroactively warns. He does compliment Jeffrey on pulling himself together, but the demon is back. Jeffrey recalls a place where the demon nested (anyone getting weird Eugene Tooms vibes with that?)
At the library, Lucifer decides to mess with Sam’s mind by having him imagine patrons bash their heads into their study tables. Graphic. I mean, there’s like fleshy brain/head bits. Neutralizing Lucifer with his hand trick, Sam notices a Bad Boy™ with a leather jacket in the library.
Dean and Jeffrey arrive at the demon’s nest, conveniently with no cell coverage.
Tumblr media
Back at the library Sam stalks the leather-jacketed suspect to the back of the library where...he finds one Madame Librarian getting thoroughly snogged in the “discontinued periodicals.” Peeping Sam slinks away…
Meanwhile, Dean’s led to Jeffrey’s demon’s hideaway. Dean breaks inside and finds a young man tied to a chair, dirty and bloodied. Dean runs up and begins to work on his chains when the guy wakes up. He starts to shout through his duct-taped mouth, eyes wide, and then Jeffrey springs up behind Dean and injects him with something. It’s lights out for our Dean Bean.
Tumblr media
Sam continues to valiantly ignore a SUPER annoying Hallucifer and the dimples of discontent make an appearance as he examines his phone. He can’t get in touch with Dean. Gee, I hope everything is alright! Sam examines the toxicology report. The victims were all heavily tranquilized...odd for a demon to have to trank it’s victims, right? While Sam mulls this over and tries to ignore Hallucifer’s sterling conclusions, I try to ignore the unprofessional librarian making out with her faux biker boyfriend at her public desk. Sam snaps at Hallucifer to “shut up” as they both reach conclusions about super creeper Jeffrey...and Hallucifer preens at the attention. Now they can have a real two way conversation. (Muahahaha)
Sam infiltrates Jeffrey’s apartment, tearing it apart while Hallucifer thrills over getting to play Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys with Sam. Sam finds drugs and a fake bottom drawer. The false bottom drawer has a latin incantation hidden inside of it. Sam puzzles over the incantation and Hallucifer patiently walks him through it. Sam’s never seen that type of demon summoning spell before, but he has seen that handwriting!
Tumblr media
Sam breaks into Nora’s witchcraft business where she attacks him. Hallucifer tells Sam to get tough and he threatens her…which gets her to talk. (Oh, Sam.) She finally confesses that she wrote the summoning spell for Jeffrey because he kidnapped her son, mailed her his ear, and told her she had to help him or her son would die. Jeffrey’s trying to raise up the demon who first possessed him. (Boris interjects: MAN, I’m such a sucker. I had the whole Tooms vibe feeling but still believed Jeffrey. You’d think I could read this show better after all these years, but nope.)
Back at Jeffrey’s creepy warehouse, he confesses that he loved being possessed. He loved his demon very, very much. Dean’s all SON OF A BITCH and YOU’RE A SERIAL KILLER and ALAS THE TERRIBLE NATURE OF MANKIND.
Dean asks Jeffrey if the list of women the demon killed came from him. Jeffrey owns up to it, confessing that whenever he passed by a certain woman on his list a sound would come from their brains that only he could hear. He’d follow them home and...you know the rest. (So creepy.)
Jeffrey had no plans to ever do anything until his demon came along. Once he was possessed, they set to killing together. After the demon was exorcised, Jeffrey descended into a deep depression until he gained the resolve to get the demon back.
Back with Sam, he learns why Jeffrey has Dean. When the first ritual Nora gave him didn’t work, she found a summoning spell that would definitely work. It required the blood of the exorcist - Dean. Sam commands her to do a tracking spell. “You want the ear,” he demands, “or the kid?” A compelling argument. It gave Hallucifer chills - so Sam’s definitely doing just A+ fine.
Jeffrey does some side exploration of the nature of torture and how good the Winchesters can be given the amount they tortured Jeffrey while he was possessed. It’s a pretty fucking good point (though it doesn’t get much follow-through here). It’s just more fuel for the Dean Winchester self loathing train.
Jeffrey does the summoning spell and the demon busts loose, possessing Nora’s son instead. He busts out of his chains, grins smarmily at Dean, and then hug/dances Jeffrey around the room. Jeffrey invites him to possess him but the demon tells him that he’s a protege and he’s free to fly on his own now. When Jeffrey isn’t down with the solo plan, the demon smacks him down.
Jeffrey captured a Winchester. He’s ready for the big leagues now. “Keep sawing away at your ropes Penelope Pitstop,” the demon tells struggling Dean. Jeffrey’s ready to fly on his own so the demon’s gonna make other plans. And the demon’s gonna “burn the kid off” on his way to Vegas.
Suddenly Sam is there! He fights the demon and lures him into a devil’s trap that Sam and Nora painted on the ceiling. Dean, meanwhile, finally busts free and when Jeffrey tries to head into the fray Dean shoots him dead. The witch performs an exorcism and saves her son.
Dean and Sam head into their hotel room. Dean all but passes out on the bed while Sam sits around quietly talking through the case. Sam prepares to sleep as well but Hallucifer murmurs in his ear. Now that the case is solved it’s time for them to talk. Sam tries to massage his injured hand (and by “massage” I mean practically reinjure) but nothing works. Now that Sam talked to Hallucifer he let him in. Now he can’t get rid of him. As we leave Sam, Hallucifer’s making Sam’s bed burn around him.
Tumblr media
“Goooood morning Vietnam,” Hallucifer shouts, delighted. His cackle fades into black...
I love you madly, madly Madame Quotarian:
You ain’t the first demon we tracked down on this safari.
Librarian, indoor gardening enthusiast, our demon's next organ donor.
Right here in my discontinued periodicals.
Name. Number. Nightmare. Go.
“Sorry. Just had to make sure.” “Make sure of what – that I peed my pants today?”

I have been asking people questions from these every time I see them on my dash because it's fun, so forgive me if I asked you any of these in a previous round.... FIC MEME: 10 (Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?), 30 (What inspires you to write?), 51(Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!)
I reblog these things pretty often, but you know, I almost never get many questions about them?  This time, though, I’ve gotten THREE asks, which I think is record!  *happy dances*
@the-flightoficarus asked for 51 as well, after first sending:
1. 10. 19. 22. 31. 37. 41. 42. 44. 46. for the ask game!!!
So!
1 What was the first fandom you got involved in?
That depends on how you define “fandom”.  The first thing I was a fan of was probably... Power Rangers?  Maybe?  And I also really liked Valdemar and Witch World around the same time?  But I didn’t “get involved” with other fans, even passively, until Gundam Wing, I would say.  Although--for years I’ve said that FAKE was the first fanfic I ever wrote, but in retrospect I think it was actually Valdemar.  I think there was a huge-ass Valdemar fanfic I blocked out in there, but I never published or shared it, so it kind of doesn’t count.  Harry Potter was the first fandom where I produced content, including reviews.
10 Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?
Leverage, because I’m terrible with the cons.  Also Goblin Emperor, because the linguistics scare me.  And the very specific ship-fandom of Where In The World, which may or may not be the real ship name but if I find it, I’ll read it (which is sort of thematically appropriate).
19   Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?
Rhodey/Tony.  It *should* work, it makes *sense*, but... I just don’t go there!  *baffled shrug*
22   Is there anything you regret writing?
I regret... actually, no.  I almost said, “I regret spending 120,000 words on my SBB considering no one actually read it,” but a) that’s just me being salty and b) it’s not true.  That fic exorcised some fuckin’ demons for me, and I’m glad I wrote it.  Especially that scene in chapter... four or five, don’t remember which, but the one that’s just incredibly painful?  That shit is based on my (failed, failed, failed) marriage, I needed to write that.
Actually, I take it back, there is something I regret writing:  after my ex-husband and my penultimate breakup, I started a text file on my computer titled “Why I Miss Dean” and just went off in it.  I probably should not have done that.
But the things I should be “ashamed” of?  The cheesy teenager fic, the shit I never finished in the DC fandom, the fanfiction-of-fanfiction that is my first posted work on AO3?  No, fuck that, I don’t regret any of that shit.  I needed it.
30  What inspires you to write?
Stories.  There’s usually one scene in particular that makes me giddy with joy to imagine it, and I find myself writing so that I can have that one scene.  In the a/b/o multiship thing, it’s the after credits scene that I’m still working my way towards.  In Stars Fading, it was the reveal scene, when the identity porn curtains were pulled back.  In the Trashy McSupertrash, it’s a trope parody scene that makes me giggle endlessly to myself.  That sort of thing.
31  What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?
@judearaya‘s comment on You Would Be In Clover:
I....cannot. My darling Bubbles. First thank you for being my porn buddy :D Second. I finished this last night and just...had to sit with it. I literally could think of nothing but it, it stayed with me so intensely.
You really wrote an emotional, difficult, lovely masterpiece here. The reader becomes so helplessly immersed in their world, in how complex and aching and challenging each of their lives are. I think that the way you portrayed Gwen and Bucky's relationship, how they loved each other, really beautifully. I love that you didn't shy away from how hard it was for them to love each other despite knowing that they were in such a difficult position. Particularly Bucky -- he broke my heart. He really did. Because throughout I just knew, if he could have, he would have given her anything for her happiness, and knowing there was this *thing* he couldn't just tore me up in the way you wrote it.
Sam is...amazing. He's Sam. I don't even know how to touch that one.
That last scene -- there was so much to love, but one thing was the way in which everyone had a very real place with the other, but how with Sam there, Gwen and Bucky were able to connect in a way they'd been struggling for years -- expressing their love for each other through physical intimacy that wasn't marred (I can't think of the right word) by everything else.
Thank you for writing this.
I legitimately teared up.  It still wrecks me.  It tells me that every single thing I set out to do with this fic, I accomplished.
37  First person or third person - what do you write in and why?
Third, and there actually is a reason.
Basically, when it’s first person, the conceit is that this is a story someone (the narrator) is telling you; when it’s third, it’s a story that happened.  A lot of the things that happen in the stories I’m interested in writing seem to me to be too personal to be told, especially to the anonymous audience.
41  List and link to 5 fanfics you are currently reading:
I’m not currently reading five fics.  *hangs head*  I’ve had a tough time reading fic in general lately; difficulty concentrating, plus I’ve kinda been sucked into the Dragon Age vortex again, plus plus whenever I go to read I get the guilty reminder that I should be writing my original fic, instead.  So basically, I’m currently reading one fic, because it just posted a chapter tonight and it is magical, and other than that I’m mostly leaving it alone.

44  What ship do you feel needs more attention?
Hm...  Maybe Sam/Steve?  Not that there isn’t fic there, but not enough, considering the INSTANT chemistry they had in the film.  Oh!  Also IN CHARACTER Steve/Nat!  (Because they are Bros, and if that doesn’t come through in the fic, then why are you writing them?)  And the related ship of StuckyNat--very rare, but when it works, it hella works.
46  If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?
Oh, the long one!  Definitely.  But if they didn’t have the stomach for all that...  Either Nalattris or Best Served With A Twist.  Both are post-CW fics, both have Steve and Tony reconciling their relationship by the end, both are short and gen.
My most popular fics are both soulmate fics, and you can find them by sorting-by-kudoi.  My hottest fic, anecdotally, seems to be the crossover with Marvel Noir (you don’t have to know Marvel Noir to enjoy it) (and people sure do seem to enjoy it!).
51  Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!
I really hate to rant--there’s enough of that on this website--so I guess I’ll gush, instead:  I love the creativity of it; I love the welcome of fandom.  I love the gentle, excitable way fans welcome other fans.  I love the drive underlying fandom to do better, always, although that’s rarely put into words, and what we’re doing better is as changeable as my underwear.  (Pretty changeable by this point, I’ve been wearing this pair all day.)
I love that I could show up, a broken husk of a woman stinging on every surface, write terrible, fic-of-a-fic stuff, and get feedback on it that was loving and enthusiastic and not disparaging.  I love that disparaging feedback in general is a taboo.  ( @subversivecynic and @drakkenzero, who have met my family, will instantly understand why that’s exciting to me.)
I love that, by and large, no one sporks anything anymore.  It had its place, and it’s done, and now we make other mistakes.  I LOVE that.
Thanks for asking!  :D

Sam O’Mahony (Brendan) – The Weir – Photography by Marc Brenner
English Touring Theatre and Mercury Theatre Colchester present The Weir by Conor McPherson. Winner of the 1997 Olivier Award for Best New Play, Conor McPherson’s chilling, modern classic The Weir embarks on a UK tour this autumn to mark its 20th Anniversary year.
In a small Irish town, the locals exchange stories around the crackling fire of Brendan’s pub to while away the hours one stormy night. As the beer and whisky flows, the arrival of a young stranger, haunted by a secret from her past, turns the tales of folklore into something more unsettling. One story, however, is more chilling and more real than any of them could have ever imagined.
A shadowy tale delving into the dark corners of human lives, The Weir is a co-production between English Touring Theatre and Mercury Theatre Colchester.
Director: Adele Thomas; Designer: Madeleine Girling; Lighting Design: Lee Curran, Composition and Sound Design: Richard Hammarton, Casting: Ginny Schiller. Louis Dempsey plays Finbar, Sean Murray plays Jack, John O’Dowd plays Jim, Sam O’Mahony plays Brendan, Natalie Radmall-Quirke plays Valerie.
Our Q&A with Sam O’Mahony who plays the part of Brendan.
Q: Can you tell us about The Weir? Sam: It’s the 20th Anniversary of Conor McPherson’s brilliant play about a small group of people in a rural Irish pub telling ghost stories through the night. We’re going to be touring until next March, so we’re lucky to have such a great piece to explore over the next few months.
Q: What is at the heart of the story? Sam: It’s an exploration of loneliness I think and how a sense of community, however fraught, can bring about great truth and catharsis. It’s very moving and very funny. Audiences are responding brilliantly.
Q: Who are you playing and how have you gone about ‘getting into character’? Sam: I’m playing Brendan, who’s pub they have all ended up in. He’s a man on the precipice of change in his life but in quite a mundane way. We all did a huge amount of backstory work in order to reflect in our performances the detail of McPherson’s script. Together with our director, Adele Thomas, we mapped out every character’s journey up until this point. We had pictures of every character we spoke of so that we’d all be on the same page, creating a collective memory in a way.
Q: How does your character fit into the storyline? Sam: Brendan is the facilitator of the evening, the catalyst that allows these characters to exorcise their demons. As such, he’s the only character who hasn’t got a story to tell and I think that’s quite deliberate. He balances the story. He’s the lukewarm water between the fire and ice.
Q: What are your likes and dislikes of touring? Sam: I’m really enjoying seeing all these towns! And the time we have off around the show is a fantastic opportunity to pursue other artistic projects, which I do. I take a lot of photographs and write. Being away from home is never ideal but ETT really look after us and are sensitive to this aspect of touring. We get back home for 2 nights a week which is a real luxury. And there’s always the gauntlet of what your digs are going to be like; Last week’s landlady told me the room I was staying in was haunted, that 3 women had died there and would I mind helping her sell a tambourine signed by the Specials. So. Swings and roundabouts.
Q: Do you have any specific and/or unusual pre-show routines? Sam: I tend to avoid superstitions because then I’m bound to them. Sometimes I do a little ‘previous immediate circumstance’ work before I go on which I try and keep it physical rather than mental. But sometimes I just clear my throat, walk on stage and end up doing the best show yet. Just being open and listening helps you survive ’til the curtain call.
Q: Away from the stage what do you like to do to chill out? Sam: I take a lot of photographs. I got myself a vintage 35mm camera which I’ve been annoying the citizens of most towns we’ve been to with. I like to scare the hell out of myself and photograph people who wouldn’t like to be photographed. So far I’ve made it to each show unscathed. I also write. I’m a filmmaker too so I’m always pursuing the next possible project and developing ideas with my writing partner. I don’t know if any of that is chilling out! I don’t do chilling out particularly well. Sometimes I eat 2 Marks and Spencer desserts within about 3 minutes. The profiterole ones. I’m pretty chilled after that.
Q: Why should everyone get along to see the production? Sam: This 20th anniversary of The Weir faithfully interprets Conor McPherson’s play with a gorgeous, atmospheric production with some fantastic performances at its centre. Sean Murray as Jack, Louis Dempsey as Finbar, John O’Dowd as Jim and Natalie Radmall-Quirke as Valerie all take it to 11 every night. Adele has crafted a great show from a stunning script. And Audience’s are loving it.
