As Artfight comes to a close, I find myself yearning for the thrill of the challenge. And also, the feeling of having a set thing to draw every day.

So in the spirit of turning my brain off and engaging in absolute artistic hedonism I give you: ARADIA AUGUST

The challenge where I draw Aradia Megido every day in August.

Inspired partially by @forgetful-river 's 50 days of Aradia earlier this year, and partially by my own autistic desire to draw only Aradia for all 12 months of the year, the rules are these:

Draw Aradia every day in August

That's it.

There's no set prompts literally I'm just gonna draw Aradia every day.

AND YOU CAN, TOO! #AradiaAugust is the tag I'm gonna establish for this. I just think it would be fun if people other than me also did this so if you tag your art with this, we can all see each others' Aradia drawings!

It may be silly to do this when the first day of the month is almost already over, but unfortunately for all of us I only thought of this idea like several hours ago when I was at work already. So this is what we got!

I cannot physically express the fuckery I just had to deal with at work

so instead, let's metaphorically say that I am a mechanic instead, and somebody calls me up and complains that their car always says that they're speeding

so I spend hours trying to help them through this, trying to rule out basic stuff. Except their responses to a lot of my questions and instructions are kinda hard to parse, until finally, they start letting very strange things slip

like when I ask their speed, they say it's "six". when I ask what units that's in, they don't know what a 'unit' is

and after much questioning they're like "oh yeah haha my car didn't come with one of those 'speedometer' thingamajigs" like that's a completely normal thing to say, and it comes out that they are gauging the speed by leaning out the window and eyeballing the tires now and then

but also they aren't sure how the math works, so they approximate the tires as squares.

and to simplify the math more they drop a brick on the accelerator and try not to touch the brake too often

#programming stuff #'we handle our cookies manually because our web app framework doesn't have anything for that' is an unsettling statement to start with #but it definitely shouldn't be followed by questions like #'so how many Cookie headers can we have?'#and 'but it's fine that we're sending expired cookies right? that wouldn't cause the bug we're dealing with now?'#and 'ohhh wait so you mean we shouldn't send all that Max-Age stuff back in our Cookie header?'#and 'to make it easier can you just give us a list of what cookies we should submit to this one endpoint?'

#random rambles #Technically I'm done with this month's header since yesterday.#Practically I've been feeling so insecure about it I've been procrastinating looking for an icon or uploading it at all #Like it *was* natural to have a downgrade in themes I've said it myself a lot of times. After 24+ themes it's understandable I'd run out–#of inspiration (or even simply material) for the very cool stuff #That said. I did very much spend the whole entire day from when I woke up to when I (started studying at past 2am) went to sleep on it #That's what I get for working with the anime tbh. Bones artstyle is ugly there's little to be done about it #While making it I also came up with other two themes concepts.#One is probably going to replace September's plan and the other idk will probably slid to the next year #Idk looking at this year's planned themes lineup it all feels full of things I'm not skilled enough to make...#On top of everything this February's theme wasn't even what I had initially planned!! The one I had initially planned was a chapter 33 pane #Idk why I didn't follow up with it. Maybe I've just grown to think manga panels are too simple (terrible choice) (rip)#I think the thing that bugs me with both the initially picked image and the anime header I made yesterday–#is that there's no smooth transition with the blog. And I know it's not a big deal but pretty much all my themes do and it's bothering me..#And it shouldn't. Like nearly everyone uses an header that is sharply separate from the blog and they make it work #Uhm..............#Idk I should be studying besides.#I think I'll either go looking for an icon and see how the overall theme looks on the blog. Maybe I'll like it better then.#Or I'll just start over and see if I can use the ch 33 panel I had in mind and see if I'll like THAT better #It'd just be a shame if after all the time I've spent on it yesterday I'd just let it lie unused on my computer #There's also the fact that black and white of the manga doesn't feel very February-esque... (Don't ask)#Ugh. I hate looking for icons it's always the worst part 😭😭😭#I was considering the last Beast Atsushi illustration (because ofc I was) but idk. Idk if I can make it work.#And part of me is also like “don't use beautiful Hoshikawa Beast Atsushi on an ugly theme” LOL #But I also suffer heavily from the lack of Beast in this year's lineup.#Okay rant over. Shutting up now #Edit: If this month's theme is ugly please be kind #Edit 2: Jk I've found like four icons. Maybe I'm just very dramatic

Like other users here on Tumblr, I'm also blocking and reporting what seems to be bot accounts every day.

So just want to remind you that if you recently joined or have a main blog that's empty, please do something on that main blog that makes you look like a Tumblr user. It should help from being accidentally blocked and/or reported.

#7rambles #just... gosh had one blog that was just “hey i am here to look at art” and I was like “OK you chill!”#just... do something that is not just leaving defaults on since the bots are starting to do that too...#I have been watching the ebbs and flows of trends for bots over the last month and man each week they do a different tactic #like I can not really say what tactic they are doing now since by the time most people read this...#... they would already be onto the next tactic!#so yeah even if you do not use the main blog for anything except as a way to track your side blogs ... please do something with it #in the end - many might not hop onto your main blog to see if there are likes or follows that make sense...#...just a quick glance at the blog title header banner and icon

Rather than dark and edgy reinterpretations, I’ll always opt for the idea that the Pokemon world is a kinder, fairer, more just and equitable world than our own....but even so, academic slapfights and social media discourse will always bring out the worst in people.

#remembered that i had almost finished making this after the brief convo about pokeverse social media this morning #and dusted it off and put the finishing touches on #i think i'm always drawn to in-universe social media stuff bc of my love of outsider pov and social media is the quintessential version #of that. just unfiltered thoughts from outsiders watching absolute shit go down #anyway i am always always down to talk about 'social media in pokeverse' and similar thoughts/concepts #i think it's hilarious every single time #the rodimiss pokeverse #oc: rowena blevins #oc: storm blevins #rowena's a reformed edgy teen so now she just uses old poetry snippets to have an edgy header on her academic twitter #storm uses her twitter 95% to network with other coordinators but every so often she just lets chaos start
