Who Is Kodama Atwood

So let's talk about Rays Recollections, shall we!

This boy right here is named Kodama Atwood, though you probably know him better as the "Ix Glomper". He is the lead character of Tales of the Rays Recollections, the new game mode/story the Tales of the Rays mobile app introduced last week.

But who is Kodama? Well, here's what we know so far. 200 years before the narrative of Recollections kicks off (which is far in the future from when OG Rays took place), human society is being ambushed and destroyed by these monsters known as "phantoms" (or maybe they're called ghosts or something else idk). Humanity's main remaining stronghold against these monsters is Neo-Ego, ruled over by the immortal Queen Haze. Neo-Ego has a special force known as Reaper Knights that fights against the monsters destroying humanity.

Most of Neo-Ego isn't kind to outsiders. Kodama is an outsider who became a Reaper Knight after he was saved by Queen Haze as a child. It is his sole goal to become Haze's, right-hand man.

Kodama has a few odd tendencies that we know of so far: he tends to fall asleep often in odd spots and do anything for Haze.

To touch on his title as "Ix Glomper", the first chapter of TOTR:R showed Kodama and his companions travelling back in time, searching for Ix. When the two finally ran into each other, Ix's body was lifted into the air and...

Kodama lept at him, reaching inside Ix and pulling out... something. This scene was immediately followed by the story cutting back to a while before the time travelling occurred, so we won't know what Kodama took from Ix for a while.

how about... kocis+ix? (or anything from rays really!)

[insert usual disclaimer about my extremely patchwork understanding of the actual rays plot] BUT THAT ASIDE, i love their dynamic a lot so far!! gonna put this one under a cut just in case anyone wants to avoid Rays spoilers

Kocis in general is Best Boy, an excellent balance of cute/sweet & loyal/devoted & also a Complete Nerd (still not over him pulling out the Most Tragic Kicked Puppy Face just to complain about having to spend twice as long maintaining his double-bladed weapon lolololol).... I do wish I had a better handle of Ix's canon feelings (beyond caring for Kocis in general + of course missing him while he was off working with Team Beefrest Nazar &co); Kocis's feelings are very on his sleeve, but my terrible JP reading skills aren't as up to parsing Ix to the same extent..... BUT I feel like Ix probably worries about Kocis a lot when they're not together & inwardly blames himself for Kocis feeling he had to leave in the first place (bc he's just a Big Worrier in general ahaha) and also is very grateful to Kocis for keeping Mileena company & helping her while he was stuck in the crystal prison and couldn't do anything himself (and probably also a lot of Guilt there too, since his absence clearly hit them both very hard)...

...and then, their reunion at the end was EXTREMELY CUTE!! & post-main-story, they'll finally have the chance to unpack all their feelings & get to properly spend time together without the next big threat hanging over their heads (which they definitely need) and whether or not it's shown or hinted in the epilogues, it's something I look forward to exploring for myself (and i've still got my fingers crossed for more fancontent lol, even tho eng fandom is basically nonexistent at this point)

for a little headcanon... I noticed in the cooking menu that they both love seafood, which has a lot of cute potential, especially since Ix had worked as a fisherman prior to the main story-- so we could have Ix+Kocis go on a fishing trip together & Ix teaches him the ropes (both the fishing itself and how to handle a boat?) or maybe cooking lessons with Ix sharing some of the unique recipes from Odanse (since an island town would naturally have a lot of seafood in their local cuisine)... or maybe Kocis asks Mileena to teach him the recipes first, so he can surprise Ix by making his favourite foods on a Special Date~

(i don't yet have a suuuper strong preference for shippy vs gen.... tho i def enjoyed their dynamic in the one singular Ix/Kocis fic on AO3, and the intense respect that Kocis feels towards Ix is a fantastic jumping-off point for shippy feels, and there aren't really any other potential pairings i've considered much either... at the very least i'd be happy to see more)

Chance to get Bond Awakening enabled 5☆ Ix [Parade], Mileena [Parade], Karya N. [Parade] and Mark [Parade].

✶ This gacha features a 7 Step Up gacha, where you pay a discounted rate to draw 10 characters and continuously raise your chances of pulling a 5☆. The fourth step is free, and with the seventh step a Bond Awakening enabled 5☆ character is guaranteed. Steps will not be resetted even if you get a Bond Awakening enabled 5☆ character before the seventh step.

✶You will also get rewards after a certain number of steps, and with the 21st you will be able to choose one of the featured characters (you need a total of 810 Asteria Stones to reach the 21st step.)

In this gacha will also reappear other Bond Awakening enabled 5☆ characters. The rates of this gacha’s featured characters will be higher than other 5☆.

A special pick up event will be held, where one of the featured characters will have the summon rate higher than the others on certain days:

Asteria: Tales of the Rays Home Lines (EN Sub)

A side project that's been in the works for a while! All of the Rays character's Tales of Asteria home lines translated! Many thanks to Yew and Luna for proofreading and for providing the assets I was missing on my end!

By the way, what a strange Youtube channel there, eh? Dana's Recollection. What could that be about. Well it seems something else for Rays has been in the plans for a bit. I found a prophecy there:

"One day, when preparations are complete, only those guided to the veiled land by the feathered serpent may witness Dana's memory."

Aside from things that are intentionally cryptic, this will not be in the near future by any means. It will be quietly progressed and quietly released. It will not be public. It will not be released in small pieces. Either 4 large chunks or the entire thing at once. (But it will be split up video-wise)

However, I will declare my intent here. From beginning to end, the story of Tir Na Nog shall be told. This is a project I am committed to taking on and will see fruition when it's ready.

In the meantime, the channel will be used for other Rays translations! Soon enough you may possibly find the other "Recollection" there.
